Dire Trilobite Tavern The Dire Trilobite tavern be full o' goblins and type H treasure. (Type H Treasure is opening tonight for Wandering Monster Table). You can see: fudge dice, dice bag Players: Barry Visible Exits: east, south [rpg] inky says, "ok time to get this going, let's see" inky has arrived. [rpg] inky says, "folks interested in my playtest, come to dtt" Fang has arrived. Iain has arrived. borowski has arrived. Fang says, "note that I have read nothing" Fang says, "so, in this playtest, I will be playing the dumb-idiot-player" inky says, "hee hee" Fang says, "so when do we play halo, hurk hurk" inky says, "ok, I will give the quick from-the-top explanation then" Barry says, "You'll want to review the Dumb Idiot Player subsection of the rules." Barry says, "It's the one that's slightly longer than Grappling." inky says, "so setting-wise this is 7th sea, which is swashbuckling adventure in fake alternate europe" Iain asks, "What sort of century?" Iain says, "I assume 18th-ish" inky says, "the countries in the setting are all modded versions of european stereotypes with some fantasy thrown in" inky says, "yeah, roughly renaissance-era" Iain says, "The real Europe is pretty much like that too" inky says, "hee hee" inky says, "but it's a mishmash" Barry says, "So you get the best bits of each." Barry says, "Musketeers, Zorro, Baba Yaga, Fair Folk, etc." inky says, "like, Montaigne (france) is the sun king on the verge of the revolution, while Avalon (england) is simultaneously king arthur and also big naval power" Iain says, "Anyway, don't let me distract you." Gunther has arrived. Gunther <-- just here to spectate as has stuff to do soon inky says, "in general, what we're talking about is Princess Bride -- people use swords (guns are just coming into favor with some people, and some people are still using broadswords and axes and stuff), there's some magic but you don't encounter it every day, there are some weird creatures but most of your opponents are human, there are some crazy inventors" K-Y has arrived. Fang asks, "post gunpowder, but definitely pre-steam engine?" inky says, "anyway, just for reference, the other countries are Castille (Spain), which is at war with Montaigne (France) and looks basically like Zorro's setting, even though that's actually california" inky says (to Fang), "yeah" inky says, "though possibly some crazy inventors are working on steam stuff" inky says, "Vodacce (Italy), which is all backstabbing and fancy masks and stuff, and has a bunch of feuding princes who rule the area" inky says, "Eisen (Germany), recovering from a nasty battle over analogue protestantism-vs-catholicism" inky says, "Ussura (Russia), cold and has baba yaga hanging around" inky says, "Vesten/Vendel (both the Netherlands *and* Scandinavia)" inky says, "which has some people who have stopped viking and started running a mercantile organization" Iain asks, "Viking? Or viking-ing?" inky says, "vikinginging" inky says, "so that's the basics on the setting" inky says, "if you go off european stereotypes you can't really go wrong" inky says, "the system is a mashup of FATE and apocalypse world; the former we've done some stuff before, and the latter is by Vincent Baker, who is one of the hot indie rpg designers and has done, for instance, Dogs n the Vineyard and Storming the Wizard's Tower, which we've played here" inky says, "the basic framework of the system is you roll 2d6 and add your skill and any modifiers; if you get an 11+, that's a full success and you say huzzah; if you get at 8+, that's a partial success and you get some of what you want but not all of it; if you get below an 8, then something bad happens" inky says, "in addition to your skill you have aspects, which are general things about your character" inky says, "I have various characters up at http://inky.org/rpg/design/7th-test.txt to check out" inky says, "if you don't like the roll you get, you can spend a fate point (a resource of which you have 5) to change it, if it's something related to one of your aspects" inky says, "like if you're sneaking down a hallway and get a failure and would really rather have a partial success, and you have the aspect Sneaky Dude, you can spend a fate point on Sneaky Dude to up your success by one level" Gunther says, "(the official skill is called Sneakbro)" inky says, "(from failure to partial, or partial to full success, or full to advanced success)" Fang says, "what do you... alright" inky says, "the other thing you can do with aspects and fate points is unlock techniques" Fang asks, "if you are under 8, then how far you are under 8 doesn't matter?" inky says, "right" inky says, "fate points used like that don't change die rolls, they change success levels" Barry asks, "Are advanced successes possible without spending poitns?" inky says (to Barry), "yeah, you can get them with a technique, too" inky says, "characters have two primary aspects that are their "main things" -- like this one sample character has "Aldana dance-fighter" and "Raised in a priory"" [rpg] Barry says, "(Whoops, AFK for a minute.)" inky says, "if this is a tv show, your primary aspects are what come up every episode" Iain says, "Like 'throwing badge at desk while resigning from the force'." inky says, "so for your primary aspects only, you can spend a fate point to unlock a technique, which is some kind of permanent bonus for the adventure" Gunther says, "you can't resign from the force, it's in all living things" inky says, "so for the aforementioned dance-fighter guy (who is Castillian, and knows this fighting style that is based on courtly dancing), the sample techniques are "unlock advanced successes with Weapons", "use Weapons in place of Alertness in combat", and "+1 when defending in combat"" inky says, "you can do the math and those generally aren't quite as good as raising the success level by one, but they're permanent and apply to future rolls" Fang asks, "and this unlocking can be done at any time?" inky says, "yeah" Fang asks, "do they have to be done in order?" inky says, "for the first one in particular, normally a 13+ on a roll is an advanced success, but it counts as a normal success unless you have a technique like this guy does" inky says, "nope" inky says, "so normally what you'd do is if you get a 13+ on a roll, you decide if you want to spend a fate point to get an advanced success on that and future uses of the skill" inky says, "also, these are just sample techniques for the aspect -- you can pick something else if you'd like if it's relevant to the aspect" inky says, "http://inky.org/blog/?p=283 at the end of the Basic mechanics section has some guidelines on what a technique can do" inky says, "(but basically: negate a penalty in circumstance X, get a +1 bonus in circumstance Y, unlock advanced successes with skill Z, let you use a magic power or crazy ability)" inky says, "so I think the next step is for folks to look over http://inky.org/rpg/design/7th-test.txt and pick a character" inky says, "and then we'll jump in and muddle through the rules as they come up" Fang says, "ok" Fang says, "Signar seems straightforward" Iain says, "I'll take Emilio" Signar smash! borowski says, "I'll go with Kieran" inky says, "okey doke, I'll let Jota jump in when he gets back" [rpg] Barry says, "Just got back, reading scrollback." Barry asks, "Can you unlock a technique retroactively right after rolling?" inky says, "yep" inky says, "so the four of you are in Sant Andrea, a port city on the west coast of Vodacce (Italy), it's three in the morning, and you're in jail" Barry asks, "Can you unlock as many techiques as you want to spend fate points?" inky says, "yep" Barry says, "Cool." borowski asks, "Why are we in jail?" Signar asks, "this is gonna be my fault again, isn't it?" inky asks (of borowski), "I dunno, why are you in jail? do you remember?" borowski says, "Hmmm." Emilio raises an eyebrow slightly and studies his bible. Signar exclaims, "dammit, I was winning!" Emilio says, "And you weren't even cheating. As far as I could see, anyway." Barry says, "Federic seems interesting, but I am not sure if I want a Mediocre Fingersmithery." [rpg] Barry says, "Oh, whoops, didn't mean to be OOC in-room." Signar says, "well, under most rulesets, use of tables as weapons are allowed." borowski asks, "How do I change my name?" inky says, "@name me = whatever" Emilio says, "@name me =" [rpg] inky says, "feel free to swap things around if you like" Emilio says, "Still, next time somebody accuses you, you're allowed to just laugh it off and scoop up your winnings." [rpg] Federico says, "Nah, I have no specific use in mind for it: it's just because it's 'Fingersmithery'." [rpg] Emilio says, "Heh" Signar asks, "where's the fun in that?" [rpg] Kieran asks, "My bio says I'm 'on the path of a particular crown of legends, said to be once worn by the Ruler of the Sea.'?" inky says, "there is some mumbling from the other people in the cell with you, most of which sounds like "grfz let me go back to sleep plzrr keep it down"" [rpg] inky says, "sounds right" Signar hmphs. [rpg] inky asks, "did your search there lead to you ending up in jail somehow?" [rpg] Kieran asks, "Ah, I'm trying to find the crown?" [rpg] Signar says, "I was thinking just a bar fight." [rpg] inky says (to Signar), "well, you don't all have to be in jail for the same reason" Kieran says, "I don't remember much from last night" Emilio says, "I could almost regret stepping in to point out that *they* were cheating, but clearly the good lord is testing me. Again." Signar says, "Oh don't worry." inky says, "there's the tromp of feet down the corridor -- presumably the guard making his occasional rounds" Emilio asks (of Kieran), "Feel that lump on the back of your head?" Kieran says, "I was telling a good joke I'd heard about of a couple of loose ladies" Signar says, "Once we get out, I'll *make them regret it*" [rpg] Federico asks, "I'm guessing that I'm not advanced enough in Porte to actually be able to use it to travel?" Emilio says (to Kieran), "Somebody threw a cartwheel. I'm almost sure it wasn't our friend Signar here." Kieran says, "Apparently it was only loosely on this guy's girlfriend." [rpg] inky says, "yeah, what you have is the ability to open small holes (I dunno, six inches across, maybe) and track blooded items" [rpg] Signar asks (of inky), "is this guard known to me?" [rpg] inky asks (of Signar), "sure, from outside? or have you been in jail here before?" [rpg] Signar asks, "both?" [rpg] Signar says, "I'm imagining that as a repeat customer" Kieran says, "I think the guy thought he had finished me off. So I wouldn't mind getting out of town before he figures out otherwise." [rpg] Signar says, "I've built up a vague friendship with these guys" Kieran says, "And getting out of jail wouldn't be too bad either." [rpg] Signar says, "somehow" [rpg] Signar says, "well, in Signar's eyes, anyway" Emilio says, "Only a few hours until dawn. I'm sure the guards will be back to toss we reprobates out onto the streets again." Emilio says, "Theus requires only patience. Again." Signar calls out to the guard. "Oi, Volans? That you?" inky says, ""Signar! You again?" Volans comes outside the cell and peers in." Signar says, "I'm afraid I'll have to make use of your hospitality again." Signar asks, "How's the wife doing? Still sick?" inky says, ""Still with the cough -- we moved here for the sea air, but I'm thinking ..." He goes silent for a minute, then keels over." Kieran says (to Volans), "I think--" Signar asks, "Volans?" Federico says, "Oh dear. I had hoped to inquire about my release." Signar asks, "Volannnnssss?!?!?" Kieran says, "Yes. I'm here in quite be mistake. Must be a clerical error." [rpg] Signar says, "damn shouldn't have talked about the family" Emilio calls, "Guards! Guards! One of your colleagues has taken ill." Emilio says, "Hmm, I wonder if they'll suspect that to be some kind of very simplistic trick." [rpg] Signar asks, "okay, how flimsy are these cell doors?" Kieran says (to Emilio), "Let's just grab his keys and run." inky says, "A few seconds pass, and then more footsteps down the corridor. "Let out the ones at the end of the hall," a gruff voice says, "grab the box, and then light the match."" Federico says (to Kieran), "Sir, you speak like some sort of criminal." Emilio asks, "When the devil's abroad, needs must -- can you reach the keys?" Kieran says (to Federico), "Of course not! I've just heard stories about these sorts of places." [rpg] inky says (to Signar), "hmm, I think probably you can't rip them off the hinges, but maybe with some kind of implement and some time" Kieran says (to Federico), "Though sometimes personal experience gets mixed in with fiction." inky says, "the three men associated with the footsteps tramp down the hallway, heading right past your cell (stepping over Volans without a thought) and towards a cell at the end of the hallway" Emilio says, "Hey! Ahoy there, you men!" inky says, "they're dressed in dark colors -- one's big, one's small, and one's tall and thin" Emilio says, "This man's dead or dying. He needs a doctor! Or a priest!" [rpg] Federico asks, "Are the colors just generic dark colors, or might the be associated with some group or house?" [rpg] Signar asks, "do we have an escape plan?" [rpg] Emilio says, "If so I'd love to hear it!" [rpg] Signar says, "because I wanna be out, busting heads" inky says, "The thin one stops and looks at you. He's got a thin moustache to go with his thin face. "He won't need anything for long, heh heh."" [rpg] Signar asks (of Frederico), "can your porte abilities let us reach the keys?" Emilio throws his bible at the guy's face. [rpg] Kieran asks, "Maybe see if we can grab the keys and then slip out while they're taking care of Volans?" Emilio says, "Villain! You and that moustache should be in here, not us." [rpg] Kieran asks, "What sort of simple illusions can I create?" inky says, "He bats it away, and lunges towards you, but the big one grabs his arm. "Come on, Tomas, we don't have time for this."" Emilio says, "That's right, and you wouldn't want to get hurt by a priest." [rpg] Signar asks, "alternatively, do we have anything to lever the door?" Emilio says, "By the way, you won't find that box you're looking for." [rpg] inky says (to Kieran), "anything you want, as long as they're 1) not too large and 2) not too detailed" inky says (to Emilio), "*that* gets their attention" Emilio asks, "Now let's see, is it bigger than a breadbox, would you say?" Emilio says, "No, smaller, of course." inky says, ""Smaller?" says Tomas. "It's a coff--"" [rpg] Emilio says, "Ha ha" inky says, "The short one elbows him in the ribs. "Shut up! What did you see, man?"" [rpg] Emilio asks, "Did somebody mention illusions?" [rpg] Kieran asks, "Yes. What are thinking?" [rpg] Federico says, "It might be convenient for us were the coffin in our cell." [rpg] Emilio says, "I dunno, maybe the box is in here? But we don't know what it is. Possibly a coffin." [rpg] Federico says, "In that it might motivate them to open our door for us." [rpg] Signar says, "that might work" Emilio says, "We had a man die in here last night. Plague, I shouldn't wonder." [rpg] Kieran asks, "Sure. Do I need to spend a fate point for that?" Emilio says, "And those cursed guards still wouldn't let us out!" [rpg] inky says, "yeah" [rpg] inky says, "(and then you've unlocked 'can create simple illusions' for the rest of the adventure)" Emilio says, "At least they gave me the bible to pray for his soul. And the box." inky says, "Short one turns to big one. "Do you think they didn't realize what they had?The fools!"" Kieran asks, "Plague? Doesn't that have a special tendency to spread if the body is left around too long?" Kieran says (to Guards), "You wouldn't want the whole jail infected." inky says, "Tomas is fumbling on Volans's body for the keys. "I suppose it doesn't matter too much who we let out as long as we do .."" Emilio says, "Right, that's why it needs to be contained, and burned out." inky says (to Kieran), "well, these guys are more like trespassers than guards, but they're clearly intersted n the coffin" Kieran says, "I've heard tales that the plague tends to kill skinny blokes first." inky says, ""Where's the coffin? It's still in there with you?"" [rpg] inky says, "hee hee" Signar says, "well, if you let us out we'll tell you" Emilio says, "There it is, right in that far dimly-lit just-visible corner." [Setting the zoned flag.] Emilio says, "Within yonder deep shadow" inky asks (of Kieran), "ok, wait, so are you using your powers here to create a coffin, or are you guys just relying on the darkness etc?" Kieran asks (of inky), "I'll go ahead and create the illusion as well. Maybe the darkness will improve the chances of success?" inky says, "that seems likely, yeah" [rpg] Emilio says, "I figure they might be looking for a specific one" [rpg] Emilio says, "Plus the word 'yonder' is funny" [rpg] Signar asks, "how well armed are these guys?" inky says, ""I see it!" says Tomas. "Right there in that dark corner at the opposite side of the cell -- black wood and I think I see the engraved rose"" Emilio says, "Wait! Plague, I tell you!" Emilio says, "Grasp my bible with both hands as you approach, man, if you value your soul!" Emilio says, "Hold it high!" [rpg] inky says, "Tomas has a clubby kind of thing, the other two guys have rapiers" Kieran says, "Only the grace of God will protect you!" [rpg] Emilio says, "I'll spend a point on 'Raised in a priory' if it helps make this stick." inky says, ""Well, I wouldn't want to get the plague, when we're so close,"" inky says, "the big guy hangs back in the corridor keeping watch, while the short guy unlocks the door and Tomas goes in holding the bible" [rpg] Signar says, "okay, I guess if I disarm one of the guys, and give the sword to Fred, then we'll have decent odds" [rpg] Emilio says, "We have to stop them just closing the door on us." inky asks, "so, ok, this seems like the first half of a clever plan, what happens next?" [rpg] Signar asks, "can I make a grab for one of the rapiers?" Roger has arrived. Emilio says, "I'll stick close to Tomas and keep putting the holy terror in him." [rpg] Federico asks, "Can we just leave and lock them in?" [Crows-Nest] Roger says, "I'll just watch a bit" [rpg] Signar says, "they aren't going to all come in" [rpg] inky says (to Signar), "the short guy is in the doorway, but presumably you could grab his rapier" [rpg] Signar says, "okay" [rpg] Federico says, "I guess we're on the wrong side to shove them." [rpg] Signar asks, "shall I do this?" [rpg] Kieran asks, "How do we deal with the guy keeping watch?" [rpg] Signar says, "we'll fight him after" Emilio says, "I hope it's only the black plague! And not something really bad like the purple lurgi -- we wouldn't want to see that coffin lid flying up and poor Hankel's zombie lurching up at us!" [rpg] Signar says, "the two of you hit tomas" [rpg] Federico says, "Also, if I see Signar grabbing one sword, I'll try for the other." [rpg] Federico says, "If they're within reach." [rpg] Signar says, "then I'll pass Federico the short guy's sword" Emilio leads Tomas along, readying for a swift knee to the groin when things kick off. [rpg] inky says, "Tomas has more of a nightstick, but you can grab for that, sure" [rpg] Signar asks, "beating up the short guy and taking his sword is brawn, right?" [rpg] Signar asks, "what do I roll?" inky says (to Signar), "ok, yeah, if you want to grab his sword, roll 2d6+ your brawn, which I believe is +3" Signar rolls 2 6 -sided dice: 4 6 | 10 + 3 = 13 [rpg] Signar says, "spend a fate point" [rpg] Signar says, "advanced success woop" [rpg] inky asks, "for an advanced success, you mean?" [rpg] Emilio says, "Huzzah" [rpg] inky says, "fancy!" Signar exclaims, "that's for Volans!" [rpg] Kieran says, "heh" inky says, "ok, you give Short Guy a shove and grab his rapier, sending him stumbling backwards to slam into Big Guy" inky says, "meanwhile Tomas looks around. "What just happened?"" Signar tosses the rapier to Federico. [rpg] Federico asks, "Is Big Guy the other one with a rapier, or is that Tomas?" Emilio KNEE -> GROIN Signar says, "here, use this." [rpg] Emilio asks, "Athletics, I guess?" [rpg] Signar says, "big guy has a rapier too." Federico catches it deftly. "Thank you." [rpg] Kieran says, "I'll hit Tomas at the same time as Emilio." [rpg] Federico says, "Ah, the one who's still in the hall. I see." [rpg] inky says (to Federico), "yeah" [rpg] Federico says, "(I have no idea how initiative works in the system we're using.)" Emilio rolls 2 6-sided dice: 5 2 | 7 + 2 = 9 inky says (to Kieran), "ok, and let's see your roll too (which is 2d6+0)" Kieran rolls 2 6-sided dice: 1 2 | 3 [rpg] inky says (to Federico), "just go ahead and say what you want to do, and I'll get to you when I'm done with these guys punching Tomas" inky says, "hmm" [rpg] Emilio says, "If we have to declare a goal or something, I'm aiming just to incapacitate this guy. Not bothering with the club, that's not my style." inky says, "ok then!" [rpg] Federico says, "OK. I'd like to get out of the cell and try to disarm Big Guy as well." [rpg] Emilio says, "And I could use a recap of the current situation already. :)" inky says, "Kieran comes in and grabs at Tomas, who swings out with his club and gives him a nasty crack across the ribs" [rpg] Federico says, "Say, perhaps while he's trying to draw after pushing Little Guy off." inky says, "but that does open things up for Emilio to kick the guy solidly" Kieran groans inky says, "he does retain his grip on the club" Emilio says, "Actually, having spent a fate point on priestiness" Emilio says, "I think he'll find he's actually wielding a bible." inky says, "ha ha" inky says, "sure what the hell" inky says, "I guess he did have it grabbed in both hands" [rpg] Emilio asks, "Well, what other bonus makes sense??" inky says, "meanwhile Federico charges out into the corridor with his sword and comes at the big guy" Kieran wishes the Bible wasn't a hardcover [rpg] Emilio says, "Hee hee" [rpg] inky says (to Federico), "so Great skills (like your Weapons) have a +3, so go ahead and roll 2d6+3" Federico rolls 2 6-sided dice: 3 5 | 8 + 3 = 11 [rpg] Federico asks, "11 == normal full success?" [rpg] inky says, "yeah" [rpg] Federico exclaims, "Sounds good to me!" inky says, "so that's enough to send Big Guy's rapier flying" Federico slips through the door while Big Guy and Little Guy are disentangling themselves, then when Big Guy tries to draw his sword to stop him, Frederic flicks it out of his grasp before he's even in fighting position. inky says, "he seems to think this is a sign that the mission is blown, and he turns and starts running back down the way he came in" inky says, ""Wait for me!" says Short Guy, struggling to his feet." Signar pursues [rpg] Federico asks, "Did we see where they put our possessions when we came in?" [rpg] Federico says, "Actually, before that, I suppose I should report this to the desk sergeant..." Kieran says (to Signar), "Stand down, Signar. There'll be plently of battle later." Emilio says, "I'll take that spare rapier, methinks." [rpg] Signar says, "we should grab the short guy, at least" inky says, "Tomas, back in the cell, still seems woozy but ready for a fight, and struggles to clear his head" Emilio says (to Tomas), "Sir, I recommend you to sit down again." [rpg] inky says (to Federico), "it seems like a safe guess that any stuff would be in the office up front, which is more or less the direction the big guy ran, since this corridor dead-ends in a cell" Federico gestures to Tomas. "Lock that one in the cell. He might help track down teh others, if he knows what's good for him." [rpg] Federico says, "Ah, in that case..." Federico heads out in the same direction as Big Guy. [rpg] Kieran says, "We could do that. I didn't know how far away they've gotten." inky says, "ok, so let's see" Signar knocks out the short guy. Or tries to, at least [rpg] Emilio says, "I'm curious about this coffin, which probably is at the end of the corridor still..." Signar rolls 2 6-sided dice: 4 3 | 7 + 3 = 10 [rpg] Federico says (to Kieran), "I'm not sure either, but hedging our bets doesn't hurt." inky says (to Signar), "you are big enough and he is small enough that you smack him solidly and he's basically out" [rpg] Emilio says, "How sizeist!" Emilio checks on... Volnar? And also remembers his name, definitely. inky says, "so Big Guy is going down the corridor, Federico is going down the corridor, Signar knocks out small guy (and then puts him in a cell?)" [rpg] Kieran asks, "What's Tomas' condition?" [rpg] Emilio says, "Down but not out, sounded like." [rpg] Signar says (to inky), "sure, why not" inky says, "Emilio is checking on Volans, who seems to be unconscious with a lump on his head but will probably wake up fine" inky says, "Tomas is also in the cell and being confused" inky asks, "Kieran is in the cell? or out in the corridor?" [rpg] Kieran says, "Hmmm. Definitely out of the cell and looking for the nearest exit." [rpg] Federico asks, "And Little Guy is between Frederic and Big Guy?" [rpg] inky says, "Signar grabbed Little Guy, so I think you slipped past" inky says, "ok, it sounds like the general motion is to head down the corridor" Emilio says, "Sure, if this guard's alive." inky says, "a few of the other prisoners, wakened by the noise, shout at you to let them out as you pass their cells" Emilio asks, "Who has the keys?" [rpg] Kieran asks, "Yeah. Did we lock Tomas and the short guy in the cell?" inky says (to Emilio), "oh, and you look in at the cell at the end of the corridor, but there's no coffin to be seen there" [rpg] Federico says, "Oh, missed that, even better." inky says (to Emilio), "Volans, probably" [rpg] Signar says, "let's not release them" [rpg] Federico says (to Signar), "Agreed." [rpg] inky says (to Kieran), "sounds like it" [rpg] inky says, "(I guess that means you have the keys now!)" [rpg] Signar says, "I recognise some of these guys from the fight last night" [rpg] Signar says, "Fuck them." [rpg] inky says, "ha ha" [rpg] Emilio says, "Heh" [rpg] Federico asks, "Is anyone checking out the cell that supposedly has the real coffin?" [rpg] inky says, "there were just dudes in there" [rpg] inky says, "(in the end cell)" [rpg] Federico says, "Oho." Emilio says (to prisoners), "I'm afraid we can't let you out, but perhaps you'd like this bible to help you reflect on your sins -- I suggest perhaps Witnesses 2 and 3, and perhaps Aquiarians." [rpg] Federico exclaims, "...maybe it really *was* in our cell!" [rpg] Federico says, "No, wait." [rpg] Kieran says, "I'm that good!" [rpg] Federico says (to Emilio), "Yay" inky says, "at the front of the building there's a side-corridor off to the guard's office, which has two guards draped over their desks, and a door behind them" Emilio opens the door. Kieran sneaks up to guards to check on their condition [rpg] Kieran asks, "I guess they're knocked up?" [rpg] Emilio asks, "I wonder how they're knocking out all these guards?" Federico walks non-sneakily up to the guards. [rpg] Federico asks, "Some sort of poison, I would suspect?" inky says, "one guard is dead and leaving a pool of blood on the desk; the other is unconscious" [rpg] Federico says, "Since our guard just sort of spontaneously collapsed." Signar says, "nasty." inky says, "(with a lump on the back of his head)" [rpg] Federico says, "Maybe something in their food." Kieran says, "Err, I wasn't sneaking. That's just how I like to walk." Signar exclaims, "Regnar! He was just a week from retirement!" [rpg] Emilio says (to Kieran), "Hee hee." inky says (to Emilio), "behind is a cluttered storeroom that has the stuff of all the people tossed into jail" Federico says, "Hrm. How inappropriate." [rpg] Emilio says, "Slingshot, maybe." [rpg] inky says (to Signar), "ha ha" Federico collects his own possessions while musing over how to report this incident when the local authorities are out of commission. Kieran takes his things as well. Emilio swaps his rapier for a better one. Emilio says, "Yes, I'm fairly sure this one is mine." Emilio says, "(Now)" [rpg] Frederic says, "(Oh, man, why did no one tell me I'd typo'ed my own name?)" Signar gets his axe. Kieran searches for a well balanced knife. [rpg] inky says, "we thought you wanted to be more Castillian" [rpg] Frederic says, "Nah, I just accidentally merged it with Saw's character's name somehow." Emilio asks, "Anyone else curious about this coffin they were looking for?" [rpg] Signar says (to Fred), "no one could understand your accent." inky says (to Kieran), "there are probably a couple you can pocket" Signar says (to Emilio), "not really. I'm just out for REVENGE." Frederic finds some stationery in the guards' desk and writes a note explaining what occurred. Emilio asks (of Signar), "Oh? Me too! Frustrating, isn't it?" inky says, "oh, and the other thing back in the guards' office is a pile of oil-soaked cloths" Frederic says, "'...released into my own custody until the matter of my mistaken arrest is properly resolved. For further inquiries, I can be found at...'" Signar says, "this seems to be a fire hazard." [rpg] inky says, "hee hee" Frederic seals finishes with a blob a candle wax and his (now retrieved) family signet ring. Kieran says, "Tis would be a shame if the place accidently burned down." Signar exclaims, "lots of people could get hurt!" Frederic says, "Indeed." [rpg] Signar says, "and we'd have to make lots of athletics rolls or something." Kieran says, "It would make for a good story though." Emilio says, "NO" Frederic says (to Kieran), "Murder is not on my calendar for today." Kieran says, "I suppose I can embellish this part later on." [rpg] inky says, "ha ha" Emilio says, "If you want a story, toss these guards in a cell." [rpg] Signar says, "I guess we *should* check out the coffin thing" [rpg] Frederic says, "I think inky said it wasn't in the cell it was supposed to be in." [rpg] inky says, "oh, yeah, the coffin!" Emilio says, "Where'd that big fellow go? Not Signar, the other big fellow." [rpg] Signar says, "did he? I thought we just made that up" [rpg] Kieran asks, "Maybe those guys were mistaken that it was here?" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Do the guards appear dead or just unconscious?" inky says, "it's not in the end cell, but it *is* in the storeroom" Kieran says (to Kieran), "Pokes at one of the guards. "They look rather heavy."" inky says, "under a big pile of stuff" Kieran Kieran Pokes at one of the guards. "They look rather heavy." [rpg] inky says, "one is dead, the other is unconscious" Emilio says, "Aha! Convenient" [rpg] Kieran says, "Argh" inky says, "or at least *a* coffin is in here, and it is indeed made of black wood and engraved with a rose" [Crows-Nest] Roger says, "Ooooh" Emilio says, "If anyone thinks we shouldn't open this, let him avert his eyes now." (From Frederic) No eye is averted. Emilio nevertheless hesitates a little, remembering his own bluff about the plague. Emilio opens it! inky says, "it's empty!" Kieran peers inside. inky says (to Kieran), "but that said, it seems suspiciously shallow" Signar says, "well, I guess we just unleashed a deadly plague." Kieran says, "Humph. Maybe the wood is worth something." Kieran searches for hidden compartments. Emilio says, "Fine workmanship, I'll give it that." Signar says, "this coffin must be designed for a very flat person" Emilio says, "A pasta chef, perhaps." inky says, "with your knife you manage to pop the bottom up -- there are a couple things stuck in the opening thus revealed: a scroll case, a scepter, and a folded sheet of paper" Kieran taps on the bottom of the coffin. Kieran says, "Aha!" Frederic inspects the paper if no one else is. Kieran says, "How mysterious! Almost as exciting as a fire." Signar examines the scepter. Emilio takes the scroll case. [Crows-Nest] (from Frederic) Kieran takes the lid. inky says, "so the scroll case has an ancient map inside it, which is labelled "NUMA" (analogue-Rome) and has a couple cryptic symbols marked at various places" inky says, "the scepter is silver with a dolphin motif and a orb of some blue stone" Signar says, "must be worth a few bob." Kieran says, "No wonder those rogues were after the coffin." Kieran asks, "I wonder if we can pawn it?" Gunther disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again. Gunther has arrived. Frederic says (to Kieran), "If financial gain is your goal, there may be a considerable reward available from the original owners." Kieran asks (of Emilo), "Do you have any idea what those symbols mean?" inky says, "and the folded sheet of paper says "Repack in a crate labelled 'silk ropes' and deliver to G, Scarlet Crab, . Tell no one, payment at usual location by maiden."" [rpg] Emilio says, "Let's see what my Academics thinks." Emilio rolls 2 6-sided dice: 3 5 | 8 + 3 = 11 Signar says, "payment by maiden? I wonder what the exchange rate is" inky says (to Emilio), "well, as it happens, your studies of ancient writings back at the priory give you some idea" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Is the Scarlet Crab a business familiar to any of us?" [rpg] Emilio says, "I have some cream for it, if that helps." [rpg] Signar says, "sorry, I have to be AFK for a bit..." [rpg] Kieran says, "I've done a spot of acting there from time to time." [rpg] Signar will be laconic and contemplative for a bit. [rpg] Kieran says, "Once, as actually part of a play." inky says (to Emilio), "it appears that the map identifies a collection of secret passages within Numa, and the symbols mark entrances, and then one is a symbol meaning "treasure store"" [rpg] inky says (to Kieran), "as you recall it's down by the docks and they were a big fan of the bawdy" Emilio says, "Now, you might think at first glance that this is some kind of treasure map." Emilio says, "At second and third glance -- yep, treasure." [rpg] inky says, "the bartender may have had his name start with G, for that matter" Kieran says (to Frederic), "If you want to find the original owners, I suggest we try looking in this treasure store." Frederic says, "Mmm. A good point." inky asks, "ok, so next scene: Numa or the Scarlet Crab?" [rpg] Emilio says, "Scarlet Crab! The treasure can wait." [rpg] Frederic asks, "Do we know where Numa is relative to San Andrea?" [rpg] Emilio says, "More than two days away, I bet." [rpg] Kieran says, "Yes, I wouldn't want to miss out on this maiden." [rpg] inky says, "it's roughly due east, probably a couple days' ride" [rpg] Frederic says, "Crab seems like a sensible choice, then." [rpg] Frederic says, "At least to check it out." inky says, "ok, the Scarlet Crab is a tavern down by the docks with accompanying stage" [rpg] Frederic asks, "What's on the bill for tomorrow?" inky says, "popular with sailors looking for a little entertainment with their drinking; popular with entertainers who don't mind entertaining drunken sailors (plus: extra tips; minus: more likely to throw things at bad acts)" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Anything I wouldn't be ashamed to be in the same establishment as?" [rpg] Signar says, "maybe we can make a copy of the map" [rpg] Signar says, "just in case" [rpg] inky says (to Frederic), "the classiest thing in days is appearing tomorrow, Professor Winks and his Educated Canines" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Oh yeah, who's going to hold onto stuff? Or can we assume that as PC's, we're all above reproach and can trust each other implicitly?" [rpg] Emilio says, "Hee hee" [rpg] inky says (to Signar), "sure, Emilio makes a backup copy" [rpg] Emilio says (to Signar), "Sure, I can timing that" inky says, "(and the bartender is named Gerard)" [rpg] Kieran says, "Ah! Good ol' Professor" [rpg] Emilio says (to Frederic), "Oh, you can trust me" [rpg] Kieran says (to Frederic), "You can trust Emilio" Kieran says (to Gerard), "A round for me and my friends!" Emilio asks, "OK, so what's the plan here? Deliver a crate marked 'silk ropes'?" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Is there anyone who is good at chatting up seaside barfolk?" Kieran says (to Emilo), "And maybe a tin scepter if we can find one." [rpg] Frederic asks, "Or sneaking into backrooms?" [rpg] Kieran says, "Signar has a 'Friend in every port'" [rpg] Kieran says, "I'm part of the performer community. And don't mind some sneaking." [rpg] Frederic says, "Either of those could be useful for gathering information without tipping our hand." inky says (to Kieran), "Gerard serves you guys up a set of drinks (which are not really up to Frederic's standard)" inky says, "and you settle down to watch Professor Winks" inky says, "bark bark bark BARK bark bark BARK" [rpg] Frederic says, "Meanwhile, I will be happy to distract attention by enjoying the show and drinking alcohol." Emilio says, "Barkley's fourth symphony! Terrific!" [rpg] inky says, "hee hee" inky asks, "and then you guys find an opportunity to deliver Gerard a fake crate?" Frederic asks (of Barmaid), "So what do you kinds of people drink, anyway?" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Can we hide someone inside the crate?" [rpg] Frederic says, "If so, I would like to give that person a personal token to keep with them." [rpg] Kieran says, "I'll sneak into the back and see if I can find out what's *really* going on here." [rpg] Emilio says, "That seems like a completely ridiculous plan" [rpg] Emilio says, "So let's do it" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Which of us is smallest?" [rpg] inky says, "I can't imagine it would be comfortable, but you could presumably hide somebody in a crate, yeah" [rpg] Emilio says, "I'm used to crouching in cells, I can do it." [rpg] Kieran says (to Emilo), "You priests have the strangest idea of a good time." [rpg] Frederic gives Emilio a lucky penny to keep in his pocket. [rpg] Emilio says, "Hmm, won't be able to take a sword. Dagger, I suppose." [rpg] Frederic says, "(Spending a fate point to blood it first.)" [rpg] Kieran says, "Ah, good idea." inky says, "Gerard sees you guys with the crate. "Ah, good," he says, "Put it in the storeroom in back there."" [rpg] Frederic says, "Which, I assume, we do." Kieran helps to lift the crate, struggling slightly. "Err, these ropes are made of a very dense silk." inky says, "you lug Emilio-in-a-box into the back storeroom, which is clearly set up to be loaded directly onto a ship -- it's got a trapdoor in the floor that opens onto the water" inky says, "and a little winchy thing for lowering stuff down through it" [rpg] Frederic says, "I imagine Emilio will be grateful for the winchy thing." [rpg] Emilio says, "La di da, meditate meditate, I'm sure there's absolutely no chance of drowning or anything like that." inky asks, "ok, so Emilio eventually gets loaded onto a ship -- are the rest of you going to try to get onto the ship, or head to Numa, or what?" [Crows-Nest] olethros says, "oh something is going on here" Kieran asks (of Gerard), "So, where is this ship headed?" [rpg] Emilio says, "Now we know how Bilbo felt at that moment with the barrels." [rpg] Frederic asks, "How about chartering a small ship for a cruise around the islands?" [rpg] Frederic says, "(Wherein we follow them at a distance?)" inky says (to Kieran), "the one that'll take your ropes? I believe it sails around the southern tip, then heads down the river and eventually ends up at Numa" [rpg] Emilio says, "If you can get there faster by land, that might make sense." [rpg] Kieran asks, "I guess we can meet him there?" [rpg] Frederic says, "Sure, why not." [rpg] Frederic says, "But I'm still going to keep track of the penny to make sure it's really going where he said." [rpg] Kieran says, "Right." Emilio says, "At night when it's quiet I'll sneak out and take the lay of the land." Emilio says, "But if nobody interestingly villainous seems to be on this ship, I'll just stay put." [rpg] Emilio asks, "I'd like to roll to hear any interesting conversations -- Alertness, I guess?" Emilio rolls 2 6 -sided dice: 1 5 | 6 + 0 = 6 [rpg] inky says, "hmm, I don't think you need to roll for this kind of thing" [rpg] inky says, "like if you sneak around long enough you'll hear whatever you need" Emilio. o O { Drat, why'd we have to pick such a big thick box? } [rpg] Emilio says, "I think these sailors are just mooks." inky says, "so Emilio has kind of cramped existence in the crate, but he does hear one mildly interesting thing on his trip: "That the one?" "Yeah, set it aside when we get there, Nunzio will pick it up"" inky says, "and so we cut to Numa a couple days later when, thanks to Frederic's penny, you're able to figure out where the ship is and meet it as it's unloading" inky says, "various people come up to the master of the ship and present papers and then take away their goods from the ship" inky says, "the sailors curse as they lug Emilio's crate down the gangplank but then it just sits there with nobody coming for it" [rpg] Frederic says, "It would be amusing if we presented false papers and collected it." [rpg] Signar says, "sorry, I'm gonna be pseudo-afk for a bit" [rpg] Emilio says, "I feel like the penny is carrying most of the weight in this partnership." [rpg] Emilio says, "But what the hell, I'll stay crouched in ambush." [rpg] Frederic says (to Emilio), "Hee." [rpg] Kieran says, "Hmm. I suppose we *could* have just put the penny in there by itself." [rpg] Emilio says, "My knees are going to go off like gunshots when I spring out" [rpg] inky says, "hee hee" [rpg] inky asks (of Frederic), "did you want to?" [rpg] Kieran says, "I say we see if we can find out who this Nunzio fellow is." [rpg] Frederic says (to inky), "Nah, I'd rather wait to see who tries to collect him." [rpg] inky says, "okey doke" inky says, "so just as the captain is getting fidgety, Nunzio shows up -- he looks to be the major-domo of somebody important, and he's got a couple of dudes in some noble's livery who pick up the crate, load it onto the wagon, and pay the captain" inky says, "and then they head off" [rpg] Frederic says, "'Excuse me, Mr... Nunzio? Did you order one Castillian Priest, extra anchovies?'" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Do I recognize the livery?" [rpg] Frederic says, "(Via Community (Nobles).)" [rpg] inky says, "yeah, it's Lord Cosimo, an ambitious merchant-lord who specializes in glass art and is fond of wines and riding" [rpg] inky says, "also has a profitable fleet of trading ships" [rpg] Kieran says, "Hmm. I suppose what we found really is worth something." [rpg] Kieran says, "I guess we follow the wagon? Discretely." Emilio. o O { Good thing we really did put some silk ropes in here, as padding! } [rpg] Frederic asks, "Hmm. Would it be weird for me to show up at his doorstep with a couple of servants and a few bottles of fine wine, under the guse of trying to make connections between my house and his?" [rpg] Frederic says, "(Servants who might then slip quietly away and wander around while I made small talk?)" [rpg] Kieran says, "I'll dress up as your lovely daughter that's ready to be wed." [rpg] inky says, "hee hee" [rpg] Kieran says, "Err, servants work too." [rpg] Frederic says (to Kieran), "Or that, sure." [rpg] inky says, "hmm" Emilio says, "Next time this box is stuffed in a storeroom, I'm getting out for some fresh air." inky says, "ok, I think I'd like to fit some more action in here" Kieran says (to Emilio), "Have faith that the breeze of the Lord will substain you." Kieran asks (of inky), "Maybe we could ambush the wagon?" inky says, "would you like to? that would work fine" inky says, "otherwise I will come up with something else" Kieran says, "We could say Signar argues for that option." Emilio says, "Heh" Signar says, "heh" [rpg] Signar says, "I'm not sure what attacking at this point accomplishes" inky says, "hmm" [rpg] Frederic says, "I am starting to think maybe we should have just gone to Numa in the first palce." [rpg] Emilio says, "I'd opt for infiltrating his base, or mansion or whatever." [rpg] Emilio says, "I'm surprised he didn't just lift the lid to check on his wares, but hopefully the GM didn't think of that." [rpg] Frederic says, "We can just sneak in without the cover story." inky says, "ok, so then you guys are following Nunzio's wagon, and they slow down a bit as they enter a particular section of town -- this is followed shortly thereafter by a crossbow bolt flying from a neighboring building and impaling one of the wagon guards" inky says, "this of course brings the wagon to a halt, and other men emerge from the door of the building and surround the wagon" [rpg] Signar exclaims, "No, Ingar! He too was a week from retirement!" [rpg] Emilio asks, "Man, what is it about treasure that everybodys wants a piece of it?" [rpg] Frederic exclaims, "Ah, so now we can help Nunio and end up apparently on his side!" [rpg] inky says (to Signar), "I notice all the guys you are concerned about are your fellow Vestens" Frederic draws his sword. [rpg] Kieran says, "The treasure part." Emilio risks peeking out. Signar readies his axe. [rpg] (from Frederic) Signar says, "You're the one who keeps killing off all the Vestens!" [rpg] Signar says, "haha" inky says (to Emilio), "the good news is nobody notices you, because Nunzio and the remaining guards are forming a defensive circle around the wagon" [rpg] Kieran asks, "Should we charge the building?" [rpg] Signar says, "goddammit you gms are all racist" [rpg] Frederic exclaims, "Let's!" [rpg] Emilio says, "Sounds like a plan" [rpg] Signar says, "woo" inky says, "but there's not really enough of them to hold off the guys for long" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Is this a good crate-exiting time?" Kieran bravely charges, safely behind Signar and Frederic [rpg] Emilio asks, "I don't quite see how I can turn the tide -- are you charging that building?" [rpg] inky says, "the guys have finished emerging from the building by now" [rpg] inky says, "though maybe the crossbow guy is still up there" [rpg] Signar says, "okay, I'll take the guy in the building" [rpg] Kieran says, "We should take care of the sniper" [rpg] Frederic says, "So we're charging toward the building, and they're charging away, and there might be some sort of interaction between us someplace in the middle." [rpg] Signar looks for a back entrance. Signar looks for a back entrance. inky says, "ok, so Signar runs around back and charges up the stairs" [rpg] Signar says, "and maybe make a bit of a distraction" inky asks (of Frederic), "what are you doing?" Emilio leaps out (painfully) and stands proudly on top of the crate. [rpg] Frederic says, "I'm fending off the guys who are rushing out of the building." Emilio says, "REPENT, SINNERS!" [rpg] inky says, "ha ha" Kieran throws a knife at the nearest guy. Emilio says, "SEE HOW THE LORD THEUS DENIES YOUR AVARICE!" [rpg] Signar says, "oh fffs" [rpg] Signar says, "now I have to go afk *again*" [rpg] Signar says, "alright, sorry, something has come up" inky says (to Kieran), "ok, Fair is 2d6+1" [rpg] Signar says, "just have Signar bash heads off camera or something" [rpg] inky says (to Signar), "whoops -- ok, we'll pick things up if you get back before the end" Kieran rolls 2 6-sided dice: 1 2 | 3 + 1 = 4 [rpg] Emilio says, "*Literally* bash heads off the camera, if this is one of those modern hand-held camera action scenes." inky says, "oops" inky says, "ok, Kieran runs towards a guy throwing a knife, but it flies past the guy and then he's on Kieran, his blade grazing Kieran's arm" Kieran knew he should have wiped the grease off of his hands after ending those fish 'n chips. Kieran *eating Emilio asks (of Kieran), "Mighty battle, was it?" inky asks (of Emilio), "you're declaiming -- are you fighting also?" [rpg] Kieran asks, "Can I use an illusion to distract the guy attacking me?" Emilio says, "Not yet, I'll just declaim and maybe the more religious ones will back off." [rpg] inky says, "sure" inky says (to Emilio), "ok, that seems like a Community roll, so 2d6+1" Emilio rolls 2 6-sided dice: 1 3 | 4 + 1 = 5 Emilio says, "SINNERS! See how the, er, the, actually it's rather interesting, er, you see." inky says, "hmm, I think you shouting causes one of Nunzio's guards to spin around. "An attack from behind!" he shouts, and comes at you." Emilio says, "Oh, drat and sodomy" inky says (to Frederic), "meanwhile, you're dueling some guys, so it seems like you should roll 2d6+3" Frederic rolls 2 6-sided dice: 5 1 | 6 + 3 = 9 Frederic smoothly deflects one's attack, but just as he's countering with a slash of his own, the another one comes in from his blind spot! inky says, "against mooks like these guys, a partial success means you wound one (if you wound them again they'll be taken out)" inky says, "so let's see" inky says, "in reverse order, Frederic is surrounded by guys, who come at him" [rpg] Emilio says, "I'm not sure who we want to win here, apart from Us" [rpg] Emilio says, "We should have just gone for the treasure ourselves first!" inky says (to Frederic), "so now you're blocking, which you can also do with Weapons; you're fighting two guys, so you get a net +1 bonus when blocking" inky says, "(so you'd roll 2d6+4)" [rpg] Frederic asks, "I roll higher when I'm outnumbered?" Frederic rolls 2 6-sided dice: 3 1 | 4 + 4 = 8 [rpg] Frederic says, "(Well, obviously not in *practice*...)" [rpg] inky says, "hee hee" inky says, "partial success, so you're wounded but not severely" [rpg] inky says, "the actual math is like +2 (because mooks are mooks) -(number of guys attacking you -1)" [rpg] Frederic says, "Oh, ah." [rpg] Frederic asks, "Does that mean I should ahve rolled +5 before?" [rpg] inky says, "bonus is only for defending" [rpg] Frederic nods. inky says (to Emilio), "meanwhile, this guard is attacking you -- you could dodge with athletics or parry with weapons" Frederic exclaims, "If you bloody my shurt, you *will* pay for it!" Frederic says, "And my cleaner is *not cheap*." Emilio says, "I was considering a mighty leap, but it doesn't seem like it'll help much, so let's just defend against this guard." [rpg] Frederic says, "(Er, shirt, even.)" [rpg] Emilio says, "I only have a dagger, but Great weapons, and I could unlock another +1 defence." [rpg] Emilio asks, "I can always spent fate points afterwards, right?" [rpg] inky says, "yeah" Emilio rolls 2 6-sided dice: 5 2 | 7 + 3 = 10 inky says, "ok, so that's a successful parry" [rpg] Emilio asks, "I'll go ahead and buy that +1 defence, which raises it to a full success, right?" [rpg] inky says, "oops, right, you'd have to -- yeah" Emilio says, "Ha ha! Watch your grip on that longsword, my friend!" inky asks (of Kieran), "then finally you -- it sounded like you wanted to use an illusion to distract this guy?" [rpg] Kieran asks, "Yeah. Can the guy see Emilio?" [rpg] inky says, "sure, if you want" [rpg] Kieran says, "I was thinking of creating a glowing halo or something that would help with his preaching." [rpg] inky says, "I'm not sure exactly how you're facing" [rpg] inky says, "ha ha" [rpg] inky says, "ok, go ahead and roll your sorcery (2d6+3) to see how well you can get that off" Kieran rolls 2 6-sided dice: 6 6 | 12 + 3 = 15 [rpg] Emilio says, "It'd certainly terrify me, so I'm sure it'll terrify the guards too." [rpg] inky says, "dang" [rpg] inky asks, "do you want to spend a fate point to make that an advanced success?" [rpg] Kieran says, "Sure." Emilio says, "SEE HOW YOUR WEAPON SHATTERS AGAINST MY ROBES, MORTAL" Emilio. o O { What did I do?? } Kieran says, "Behold! The Holy Light of the LORD!" inky says, "the man fighting Kieran stops and gapes as the halo appears" [rpg] inky says (to Kieran), "since you had an advanced success on a defense, you get a +1 to your next roll, whatever it is" Emilio says, "LAY DOWN YOUR ARMS AND RAISE YOUR EYES TO THE HEAVENS, MY PEOPLE" [rpg] inky says, "though, really, it seems like we should just let Emilio take this" Kieran hums a holy hymn. inky says, "some of the people on both sides are sheathing their weapons and looking around in confusion and/or awe" Emilio says, "And if you have a particularly expensive rapier, feel free to lay it over in this direction -- ER, I MEAN, KNEEL BEFORE THE LORD!" inky says, "Nunzio, maybe more cynical, takes this opportunity to lash up the horses and sends the wagon barreling onwards" Emilio falls over into the box. inky says, ""he vanished!" say some of the men. "A miracle!"" [rpg] Emilio says, "Ha ha" [rpg] inky says, "ok, I said this would be about three hours, so I think I am going to have to leave it at this cryptic point" [rpg] Frederic asks, "Does anyone know what exactly we've achieved so far?" [rpg] Frederic says, "Because I have no clue." [rpg] inky says, "ssh!" [rpg] Frederic says, "Heh." [rpg] inky says, "also, what you achieved is helping me test out the system some" [rpg] Emilio says, "We're not quite at the Ocean's Eleven level of planning, at least." [rpg] Frederic asks, "Are we playing again next week?" [rpg] inky says, "though next time I think I'm going to have to force a little more system engagement although it goes against my habits" [rpg] inky says (to Frederic), "I wasn't planning on it but I guess I'm open -- I'll probably check next thursday to see if anyone can show" [rpg] Kieran says (to Frederic), "We've achieved keeping Emilio stuffed in a box." [rpg] Emilio says, "I can't do next saturday, except maybe briefly at the start, but feel free to have me knocked senseless by the corner of the box or something." [rpg] inky says, "well, thanks everyone! things with the system are a little rougher than I was hoping, but I don't have much practice explaining new systems to people" [rpg] inky says, "and I had fun, anyway" [rpg] Emilio says, "It almost had the feel of the canned moves in Apocalypse World." [rpg] Frederic says (to inky), "Remind me to ask you how aspects work here before next time." [rpg] Emilio says, "5 fate points felt like a lot, but it's hard to tell in a little scenario like this." [rpg] Frederic says, "(So I know how to apply that technique thing.)" [rpg] Kieran says, "Yeah it was fun." [rpg] Frederic says (to Emilio), "I think we probably only got about an hour of regular-style play in." [rpg] Kieran asks, "Is it 5 fate point per session?" [rpg] inky says, "technically it's 5 fate points per adventure, with ways to refresh to 5 if you take an evening off" [rpg] inky says, "(uh, an in-game evening)" [rpg] inky says, "I'm not sure if 5 is the right number or not - it worked ok in my testing, but that was just with one character" [rpg] inky says, "so presumably they have to burn more fate points than a group would" inky concentrates, and disappears.
