Kit Leeds, able to climb any rope, pick any lock, con any mark, and if all else fails she has a surprising number of knives on her person. At sea she's a prize in the crow's nest, with the sharpest eyes in the ocean. She lives by her wits and off the profits of other people's labors, which usually works out well but occasionally necessitates a hasty exit from whatever city she's in at the time. Recently she's made an interesting score: a heavy gold statuette of some kind of sea-creature, one she's never seen before and no one seems able to identify. Its sapphire eyes glitter in the dark.
