Turn 5 - House Aramin

Previous turn: Turn 4

House Actions

  • Shipping: The StarFar Reigspress loads up with any homesteaders who are ready to make the trip and departs from the Core. Reig hops an intra-Empire shuttle and heads to Iavo.
  • Fighting: The StarLight Survey Squad flees to hex L10. Rick acts as a rank-2 military unit to fight the hostile plants.
  • Exploration: The StarLight Survey Squad explores hex M9, hoping that the water will be less interested in killing them than the flowers were.
  • Production: We produce 2 units of Unsorted Crystals from our (unnamed) Large crystal farm in L10. We produce 1 unit of Metals from the Alshu Cup mine in N11. We produce 1 unit of Unsorted Crystals from the Starfarer Crystal Garden And Wilderness Preserve in P12.
  • Processing: We process 2 units of Unsorted Crystals and 1 unit of Metals into 1 unit of Energy Weapons (a rank-2 refined commodity). We also process 2 units of Unsorted Crystals and 1 unit of Industrial Kelp into 1 unit of Ndoggahyde (also a rank-2 refined commodity).
  • Research: We continue researching the mining applications of teleportation. Jude assists, and doubles up the research with a fate point (see below).
  • Building: [None]
  • Landing: The StarFar Reigspress visits Vefna and deposits four units of colonists on their new (actually slightly used) homeworld. Reig lands on Iavo.
  • Trading: We electronically transfer ownership of 1 unit of Ndoggahyde to House Prime, which they can retrieve at their convenience.
  • Politics: Reig negotiates with Iavo in person to gain their support of the Prime Bill in exchange for setting up a Retreat Center on our colony world.

Character Actions

  • Rick Starfarer: Rick tests the potential combat applications of one of the industrial exoskeleton units Jude developed for goods transport within the Riju factory by suiting up, grabbing a 3 TW laser cutting torch, and heading out to chop some vegetables. (Spent one fate point to activate a house aspect: "Experimental High-Tech Gadgetry".)
  • Jude Farlight: Jude assists with the research, and with an intuitive leap of engineering, helps to apply teleportation technology both to industry, and as an offshoot of that, the (re)discovery of and initial prototype for a way to use the crystals to control much of the local progenitor-modified flora and fauna. (spend a fate point)
  • Reig: Reig does politics with Iavo. And probably contacts some other houses to see what he can do next.

Results

House Aramin produces a great deal and processes all of it and a bit more. Rick performs a heroic feat as, with luck and heavy weaponry, he takes out an entire pack of sentient plants. Jude, meanwhile, performs a heroic feat of science, sending the research institute onto interesting new tracks. And back in the empire, Reig performs a heroic feat as he survives the dangerous cocktail parties of galactic diplomacy.

The StarLight Survey Squad explores hex M9 and discovers the ruins of great pumping stations, looking only half-built and now sunk under the water of the lake.

When informed of the new possible destination of Vefna, the colonists think it over. Three of the colonist groups (a group of young Jarou males and females, a Jarou family unit, and a group of young human males and females) decide to go on to Vefna; two of the colonist groups (another Jarou family unit, and a human family unit) decide to continue on to ARS-32.
