Research works on upgrading their kelp farms in a cheaper and greener fashion. Silentus enters strenuous late-night, uh, negotiating sessions with Topni to get their votes on the tax-reduction measure.

In exploration news, Dark continues his exploration of the floating island and determines it could be made into a rank-2 ancient-history research institution for half the usual price. Rafael explores K13 and comes across two units of Chemicals which have naturally accrued there over the years and arranges for them to be collected.

In science and cocktail party news, the research institution researches, and Basinbloke stirs the political rumor mill.

In political news not entirely unconnected to Silentus, Tipno suffers a series of explosions which destroy a large portion of their honeyfruit crop just as it was to be shipped off-planet, and then the economy is further crippled by a revolt among the slave population. Topni sends out a press release saying it is a regrettable event but a natural consequence of not using efficient robotic workers. Food prices rise by 10% across the Empire.
