Turn 3
Previous turn: Turn 2
House Actions
- Shipping: We load Reig and 1 unit of Fancy Crystals into the cargo ship and send it through the wormhole.
- Fighting: A serious food fight breaks out. Minor damage is sustained to the colony mess hall, forcing it to close for a week for repairs. Jude1b is ultimately revealed to have been responsible, although Jude1b seems to have broken off from the causal chain and so may no longer be the future of Jude1a.
- Exploration: Our new airbuggies explore M11 and N11. Jude1a and Jude2 and Jude3 arrive from Turn 4, via their successfully researched crystalline time travel implants. Rick explores hex P12. Emperor McAllister-Smythe-Jones arrives from an undisclosed turn in the future with a gaggle of small children, giving them a tour of the colony as the "seat of all harmony and peace for the subjective future-now", pausing to thank the co-governors for their perspicacence, solemnence, humilence, eloquence, and ferocence. Jude4 arrives from turn 5083, warning that the intervention of a well-intentioned traveller from the future may well cause time travel to go from the useful tool it likely subjectively-now is to a horrifying abomination that will unravel the universe from both ends of time.
- Production: We produce 2 units of Unsorted Crystals from our Large crystal farm. Richard Starfarer XXVIII arrives from turn 18227 with an team of archaeologists "to witness first-hand the moment when the Universe split into two divergent stable timelines, one that ultimately becomes a paradise of peace and prosperity, and the other which leads only to a terrible post-apocalyptic wastespace due to the misuse of time travel." He then added, "Sorry I'm a phase late. Clocks aren't very reliable after the temporal apocalypse."
- Processing: We process 3 units of Unsorted Crystals into 1 unit of Fancy Crystals.
- Research: Jude0 leads the introductory research into using the otherwise apparently worthless semi-psychically-active crystals as substitutes for the handlers for binary birds to bond with, with the intention of increasing their utility to the exploration teams. Jude3, Jude1a, Jude1b and Jude2 quickly realize that without Jude0 taking part in the time travel research, they belong to a redundant timeline and will soon vanish. They instead research crystal-based anachronic stasis technology and crystal-based parallel timeline traversal over a week of relaxed chats in a quiet clearing in the jungle, their heightened communication skills and intuitive understanding of the problems making the work go by in a flash.
- Building: [None]
- Landing: The cargo ship arrives at the Empire and unloads Reig and 1 unit of Fancy Crystals.
- Trading: We sell 1 unit of Fancy Crystals for 4 Mc on the Imperial exchange.
- Politics: The captain of the StarFar Reigspress puts up a sign in front of the ship saying 'Colonists welcome! Inquire within!' Meanwhile, Reig tracks down a Grazene representative to find out what's up with their voting proposal.
Character Actions
- If no ruins or similar artifacts are discovered by exploration, Jude contributes to the binary birds research. If something interesting is discovered, Jude will follow up on that instead, leaving the research facility to their own expert devices.
- Rick launches himself via rocket catapult from the top of the large dome atop the colony capitol building, via a parabolic trajectory into the center of hex P12 (rank 3), whence he will explore his way back home.
- Reig recovers this turn, spending a lot of time sleeping in a ball (literally) on the ship as it travels to the Empire.
