* '''Rule Proposal''' No Knight is All Right
* '''Rule Amendment''' Active Voters
** Add a section to rule 16: If at any point the Black Knight would move but has no valid squares to move to, the players win the game.
** Modify rule 1.1 to add an additional section: For purposes of calculating majority and strict majority, the total player population is considered to consist of all the players who have been Consenters, Dissenters, or Explicit Abstainers on any proposal in the previous 7 days.

** [[User:Inky|Inky]] ([[User talk:Inky|talk]]) 14:38, 15 May 2020 (EDT)
** Commentary: I think this bypasses the score requirement, but not the requirement to have three queens, since that says that players can't win rather than causing them to win.
** YEA: inky, Matthew, Jota ''(Do we want to explicitly say "all the ''current'' players"?)''

* '''Rule Amendment''' Revised Scoring and Winning
** Replace rules 5, 6, and 7 with the following two rules:
** '''Winning and Losing the Game'''
*** Declaring victory is a player action which may be permitted (or prevented) by certain other rules. If a player declares victory, the current players all win the game. Players may not declare victory if any rule prevents them from doing so, even if other rules currently permit them to do so.
*** If any entity which is not a player wins the game, then all players lose the game and the game is over.
*** Players may not declare victory unless there are at least three different Queens in play, owned by at least three different players, with at least one identified by a color, at least one identified by a letter, and at least one identified by a name.
*** If at any point a rule requires a player to do two mutually exclusive things (such as requiring a player to both take an action and not take that action), that player may instead declare victory. All rules involved in the paradox are ignored for purposes of deciding whether the players can declare victory.
** '''Scoring'''
*** If at any point before the game has ended, a majority of the players have a score of 100 or greater, any player may declare victory.
*** If at any point before the game has ended, any entity other than one of the players has a score of 100 or greater, that entity immediately wins the game.
*** At any point a player may take an action to award themselves points. They may award themselves any number of points as long as the number is greater than zero, and the total number of points awarded to a player due to this rule may not exceed the number of 24 hour periods since the game has begun.
*** Any player who has accumulated 1 or more points and violates a rule established by another player will lose 1 point. Any player who has accumulated 1 or more points and violates rule he or she established himself will lose 3 points. No loss of points may take the player's score below zero.

Pending Proposals

  • Monkey Arcana Proposal Equivomancer
    • Special effect: The player who caused this effect to occur may choose between two options: reduce the score of any contestant by up to 10 points, and reduce their own score by twice that amount; or increase the score of any player by up to 20 points and reduce their own score by the same amount. The player may choose a value of zero but not a negative value, and may not choose a value that reduces any score involved below zero.

    • ABSTAIN: Matthew

  • Monkey Arcana Proposal Shelter in Place
    • Special effect: Any player who caused this effect to occur is given ownership of this card, and it is not returned to the deck. The player may at any time return this card to the deck after a different Monkey Arcana card was activated, but before its special effect takes place. This cancels the effect of that other card, sending it to the deck in lieu of its special effect taking place.

    • YEA: lpsmith, inky, Jota

  • Rule Melds
    • Addition to Rule 0:
      • A Meld is a set of three cards that either all have the same suit or have different, consecutive numbers (in any suit).
    • New Rule: Redemption
      • If a player has a meld, that player redeem it at any time as an action. Th[is] adds fifteen to the player's score and returns those cards to the Deck.
      • If a non-player has a meld, any player can redeem it at any time as an action. If the owner of the cards is able to have a score, this adds fifteen to its score. If there are any gold stars assigned to the Cosmic Void, this assigns one of those stars to the player. It also returns those cards to the deck.
      • [Edited to fix a typo]
    • Jota (talk) 06:57, 14 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: Jota, inky (though I'm not sure this is usually a good deal score-wise, assuming cards = their face value), lpsmith (You can get points for cards when capturing, but no other time...at least right now.)
    • ABSTAIN: Matthew

  • Monkey Arcana Proposal Meteor Shower
    • Special effect: If there are at least as many players in the game as there are gold stars assigned to the Cosmic Void, one gold star is assigned to each player. Then (regardless of whether or not the first clause took place), if there are [at least] as many pieces in the game as there are stars assigned to the Cosmic Void, one gold star is assigned to each piece.
    • Jota (talk) 11:28, 14 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: Jota, inky (should the second sentence say "at least as many"?) [Edited to fix, as per the typo protocol -J], lpsmith
    • ABSTAIN: Matthew

  • Monkey Arcana Proposal Cat
    • If there are any pieces on the board, one of them is chosen at random. That piece is now no longer on the board.
    • Jota (talk) 11:28, 14 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: Jota, inky, lpsmith (I like the whimsy of this one.), Roger
    • ABSTAIN: Matthew

  • Monkey Arcana Proposal Charm Person
    • The player who caused this card to take effect must choose a player in the game and a[n unresolved] proposal that that player has not voted in favor of. (If there is no such combination of player and proposal, this card has no effect.) If that player votes in favor of the proposal and the proposal passes with that vote in place, that player receives twenty-five points. (This only applies to players and proposals that existed before the event that triggered this card was decided on.)
    • Jota (talk) 11:28, 14 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: Jota, inky
    • QUESTION: Can this include rejected proposals that are re-introduced? Or do they have to be current? -LS (If it were re-introduced, wouldn't that be a new proposal? I've edited to disambiguate, but if you think it would be better if it were different, I'm open to suggestions. --J)

  • Rule Proposal Passing Cards
    • New sub-rule under 17.2:
      • A player can do this multiple tiles as part of the same action.
    • New sub-rule under 17:
      • If one piece is adjacent to another piece on the board (horizontally, vertically or diagonally), and one of those two pieces is owned by a player who has at least 1 point, that player can (as an action) transfer any one card belonging to either piece to the other piece and reduce their own score by 1.
        • A player can do this multiple times as part of the same action.
    • Jota (talk) 08:41, 15 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: Jota, inky
    • NOTE: The "multiple times" bits are so that you don't have to keep rolling the Knight's moves over and over again if you want to transfer multiple cards.
    • ABSTAIN: Matthew

  • Rule Proposal Queen Activity
    • Players can move queens with an action. Queens move like a normal chessboard queen (in any direction - horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, as many spaces as desired, in a straight line). They may not move through or end their movement in squares occupied by other pieces (and hence may not capture pieces).
    • Queen's Majesty: Queens may not be captured. The Black Knight may not move to a square adjacent (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) to a queen (queens, however, may move to a square adjacent to the Black Knight).
    • Inky (talk) 12:43, 15 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: inky, Jota
    • ABSTAIN: Matthew

  • Rule Amendment Active Voters
    • Modify rule 1.1 to add an additional section: For purposes of calculating majority and strict majority, the total player population is considered to consist of all the players who have been Consenters, Dissenters, or Explicit Abstainers on any proposal in the previous 7 days.
    • Inky (talk) 14:38, 15 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: inky, Matthew, Jota (Do we want to explicitly say "all the current players"?)

  • Rule Amendment Revised Scoring and Winning
    • Replace rules 5, 6, and 7 with the following two rules:
    • Winning and Losing the Game
      • Declaring victory is a player action which may be permitted (or prevented) by certain other rules. If a player declares victory, the current players all win the game. Players may not declare victory if any rule prevents them from doing so, even if other rules currently permit them to do so.
      • If any entity which is not a player wins the game, then all players lose the game and the game is over.
      • Players may not declare victory unless there are at least three different Queens in play, owned by at least three different players, with at least one identified by a color, at least one identified by a letter, and at least one identified by a name.
      • If at any point a rule requires a player to do two mutually exclusive things (such as requiring a player to both take an action and not take that action), that player may instead declare victory. All rules involved in the paradox are ignored for purposes of deciding whether the players can declare victory.
    • Scoring
      • If at any point before the game has ended, a majority of the players have a score of 100 or greater, any player may declare victory.
      • If at any point before the game has ended, any entity other than one of the players has a score of 100 or greater, that entity immediately wins the game.
      • At any point a player may take an action to award themselves points. They may award themselves any number of points as long as the number is greater than zero, and the total number of points awarded to a player due to this rule may not exceed the number of 24 hour periods since the game has begun.
      • Any player who has accumulated 1 or more points and violates a rule established by another player will lose 1 point. Any player who has accumulated 1 or more points and violates rule he or she established himself will lose 3 points. No loss of points may take the player's score below zero.
    • Inky (talk) 22:26, 15 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: inky

  • Rule Proposal No Knight is Alright
    • Add a section to rule 16: If at any point the Black Knight would move but has no valid squares to move to, the player who was required to move the knight may instead declare victory. If they don't, the Black Knight remains in its current location.
    • Inky (talk) 22:26, 15 May 2020 (EDT)

Approved Proposals

  • Rule Amendment Knight Movement Adjustment
    • Modify 16.2 after "If after any player action" to add "that moves a piece on or adds a piece to the board"

    • YEA: inky
    • Nay:
    • Abstain: lpsmith (I kind of like the super-powered nature of the black knight, but I'd be OK with it being reduced.), Jota (agree with lps), Matthew, Roger (for the lol)

  • Rule Constellations
    • Add another section to rule 12: At any time, a player who has three gold stars assigned to them may, as an action, assign the stars to the Cosmic Void and take a card of their choice from the Deck.

  • Rule Pay for Play
    • Add another section to rule 14: Players may take additional board actions in a day beyond the free amount by reducing their score (if the reduction would not put their score below zero). The required amount is 1 point for the first additional action, 2 points for the second, 3 points for the third, and so on.

  • Monkey Arcana Proposal Astronomer
    • Special effect: If this card is possessed by a player or a piece owned by a player when this effect occurs, that player may re-assign any two gold stars of their choice. If this card is possessed by the Cosmic Void or a piece owned by the Cosmic Void when the effect occursOtherwise, one random player (selected from those with at least one gold star) has one gold star re-assigned to the Cosmic Void.

Rejected Proposals

  • Rule Proposal No Knight is All Right
    • Add a section to rule 16: If at any point the Black Knight would move but has no valid squares to move to, the players win the game.
    • Inky (talk) 12:43, 15 May 2020 (EDT)
    • Commentary: I think this bypasses the score requirement, but not the requirement to have three queens, since that says that players can't win rather than causing them to win.
    • YEA: inky
    • NAY: Jota (I'm happy with this in principal, but I'm not sure it works with the Rule 6 as written. I'd recommend incorporating this into a re-write of Rules 5 and 6 that made it all explicit.)
    • ABSTAIN: Matthew

  • Rule Amendment Co-op Paradox

    • YEA: Jota
    • NAY: lpsmith (I think I'd prefer an 'any entity with at least one point is awarded 10 more points.'), inky (with my tags proposal I suggest making this 'every owner' or 'every competitor', although the latter would be kind of wild)
    • ABSTAIN: Matthew
  • Monkey Arcana Proposal. Housekeeper
    • Special effect: The player who caused this special effect to occur must, as an action, either A) select up to five cards possessed by players or pieces and return them to the deck (so they are no longer possessed by anyone), or B) indicate that they don't wish to do this at this time.
    • Jota (talk) 09:09, 8 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: Jota
    • NAY: lpsmith (I don't like the 'B' option.), inky (B is subsumed by A anyway, but I think this needs to handle the case where it's not played by a player, doesn't it? Like if the black knight captures someone?)
    • ABSTAIN: Matthew
  • Monkey Arcana Proposal. Bartender
    • Special effect: The player who caused this special effect to occur must, as an action, draw as many random cards from the Deck as there are players in the game. That player then gives one of these cards to each player (their choice), removing them from the Deck.
    • Jota (talk) 09:09, 8 May 2020 (EDT)
    • YEA: Jota
    • NAY: lpsmith (maybe s/player/entity with at least one card/ ?), inky (as above, should handle the case where a player doesn't cause it?)
