    • What is this strange wormhole radiation all about? Base cost 4, relevance 3 (Wormhole Control I for 1, batteries for 2), /3 existing thing discount = 4 points. (4/4)
    • Wormhole Control II: stopping or controlling whatever is behind this new radiation. Base cost 6 (all the bits), relevance 2 (Wormhole Control I and studying the radiation) = 12 points. (4/12)
  • The Farlight Institute of Crystal Biotechnology tries to figure out what it can learn about the Dragon.
    • Pure research. Base cost 1 (pure research), relevance 5 (2 for SAPL's research on the radiation and stuff, 3 for nothing else), /3 for existing item = 1. (1/1)
    • What is this apparent lifeform? Base cost 6 (alien), relevance 3 (2 for SAPL's research on the radiation and stuff, 1 for this turn's pure research), /3 for existing item = 6. (6/6)
    • How, if it turns out to be hostile, can we best combat this thing? Base cost 6 (cheap, widely applicable, large scale, repeatable, fast), relevance 2 (this turn's two previous researches) = 12. (1/12)

Results

The colonies are busy with their work but otherwise things are pretty normal, with the exception, of course, of the crazy dragon space worm thing curled around the wormhole. Dark and Rick go out to talk with it on behalf of the members of the colonies whose names end with k, and also a spaceship blasts off from Little Iavo with similar intentions ("monk" also ends with a k, you note). Anyway, the upshot is a big infodump about what's been going on with Iavo and the empire.

Exploration happens under the new rules for the first time, discovering a cluster of crystal-producing plants in Donbique Rule (adding three units of unsorted crystals). The Lollipop Guild has worse luck, running into a pack of abandoned Gwyne-manufacture hunter robots and ending up trapped in a box canyon and in need of rescue.

The research institutes are hard at work on analytical questions which are mostly answered by the conversation with the dragon space worm, and also at producing the fine piece of NEWS FROM THE WORMHOLE, available on newsstands and holovid screens everywhere. NEWS FROM THE EMPIRE will have to get its act together and publish an issue if it wants to not be totally eclipsed.

Also, the Allosaurus scans the area of the colonies with its potential-wormhole detector, but finds nothing besides the large wormhole (though the area seems to be very thin there with very large wormhole potential indeed).
