Character Actions

Elaine heads out to I13 to investigate the Mystery Corn.

Jathries begins recruiting and training the Fighting Tree Squid. Areas include (in order of priority): team mascot and logo design, setup and production of souvenirs, awarding of concessions contract at the venue, finding equipment, finding players. Jathries will also, during the game, try and get a "friendly" 1 megacredit wager going with House Intrepid's representative.

Results

The ugly fish and research are produced on schedule; there is one turn of research left.

The Cadet Scouts explore J12 and make some surprisingly-relevant biocultural observations about a itinerant group of surfers which they forward onto the research lab.

The Geoleverage Taskforce explores I15 and finds a Gwynne cache containing a mega-credit worth of untraceable negotiable galactic currency. They then explore I16 and find a second cache, but this one has a security system: as they're downloading some information from the cache's computers, hidden explosives go off, injuring several members of the squad. (An injured unit is destroyed if it is injured a second time; it can be healed back at the colony.) The information turns out to be fragmentary and encrypted; it will require some work to decrypt (probably by a character or appropriate research lab).

Elaine investigates the corn maze and finds it appears to be the product of a Monster of some sort. Acting quickly, she draws up plans to market Savage Corn to the thrill-seeking gastronomes of the galaxy. (This hex can be turned into a rank-1 mine producing Savage Corn for the cost of 3 mega-credits; it can't be increased in rank further without further exploration or advertising effort, though.)

Jathries and the Fighting Tree Squid meet House Intrepid's astro-polo team on the field of battle. Or, rather, the field of astro-polo. They fight valiantly and look impressive but their lack of training betrays them and they ultimately fall to the Arabian Knights. On the bright side, they score numerous victories at the concession stands.
