- Skills: Lore (Planes) // Archery (breath weapon), Physique // Athletics, Fight, Thievery // Empathy, Notice, Will, Investigation //
- Stunts:
- Breathe Fire (natural weapon for archery/fight; can add 'on fire' as aspect on successful hit)
- Sticky Fingers (for climbing/sticking to ceilings, and holding things)
- Fire wormholes? (create wormholes between fires that are short paths through the plane of fire. Vaguely Porte-ish.)
Story: Sylvia was the salamander the group negotiated with to take the pyramid to the plane of fire in exchange for helping to remove the portal to the negative material plane that was leftover from an old war with the Doomguard. However, on discovering her goal, members of her faction (a splinter group of the Mind's Eye) asked her, Harley (Tom's character) and a few other members to actually travel with the pyramid back to Web, to watch and see what was going on there.
Tom: Harley, a warrior caste Motie
- Aspects: Highly evolved warrior (high concept), bred to follow a master and prone to mood swings (trouble).
- Skills: Fight, archery, notice.
- Stunts: Surprising strength with left arm, craft with small, delicate work with two right arms.
Story: Harley is a 3.2-armed warrior from the world chronicled in The Mote in God's Eye. He is the product of an experimental genetic modification program to remove the hormone-driven genocidal tendencies of his race. So far, it's been mostly successful. A sharp-eyed marksman and archer, his uncanny instant mastery of most any weapon is a handy skill to have on your side. Harley joined the group travelling to Web to ensure the Emissary's safety. He and Sylvia have been in some tight spots together, including an adventure where Sylvia was betrayed by a local warlord who found out about Harley's 0.2 arm the hard way.
Dan: Lord Aubrey Goldingfrost
- Aspects: Noble Scion, Bright Tyrfing
- Skills: Fight, Athletics, Rapport
- Stunts: Wuxia movement (ignore gravity while moving), Tyrfing can cut through anything, Tyrfing can't be destroyed or kept from him forever
Story: Born the youngest son of a noble house and trained in wit, grace, and swordplay, Lord Aubrey leapt into a life of adventure and things seemed to be charmed there too. Then he came to a crypt, sealed since it was swept up in Web's creation. Inside, he took the sword Bright Tyrfing from a dead king, and darkness took him. When he freed himself from Tyrfing's mastery, Lord Aubrey found he could neither destroy the sword nor leave it behind. Now he adventures with not one sword but two, and hopes he will never have to draw the other.
Sara: Zephyr Ingatious the Sprite
- Aspects: Pattern Magic Fairy (high concept), Culturally Misunderstood (trouble), "Chaos Illuminates" (belief), Knowledge is meant to be shared, Intellectual Privilege
- Skills: Notice // Lore-Magic, Will // Athletics, Stealth, Lore-Planes // Provoke, Craft, Investigation, Physique
- Stunts:
- Pattern Detection: use 'Notice' to see connections and patterns. Difficulty increases the more hidden/unseen elements there are (esp. emotions, etc.), and with decreased familiarity.
- Flight
- Relocation Magic: Teleport small objects short distances. Difficulty increases with increased distance, decreased familiarity, and if attached/connected to other things. Difficulty increases markedly (+4/+6) for living objects.
Background: Zephyr hails from a university-style commune on an island in Web which dates back to Web's founding (and in fact is only a local outpost of a planar-wide organization). Founded by fairies (who still form a majority of the population), the community is devoted to the investigation and propagation of pattern magic. Somewhat self-sufficient, they have sponsors that support them in exchange for services by members of the community, and have 'right of first refusal' to hire those members who graduate from the training and wish to make their way in the world. Many high-ranking advisers and analysts in Web (and elsewhere in the planes) are graduates, who themselves are often patrons of their alma mater. Zephyr is one such graduate, currently employed by the Web Council. Her family traces its ancestors back to the founders of the Web branch of their commune, and are very influential in the community.
Story: Many years ago, Zephyr was hired by the Council as an intern to investigate an odd cross-species disease that was spreading rapidly through many of Web's communities. She managed to track down the source to a building/excavation project by an influential member of the community (the dust being stirred up by the digging was a constant source of re-infection), who was very put out that his building project was put on hold for six months as the outbreak was contained.
