Cadiz mutters, "Let's see, assuming the code can be human-readable if you know the secret, and applying some of the phrases the Marquis read us..."

Cadiz scribbles down some letters, frowns, then smiles, scribbles some more, then pulls out a fresh sheet of paper.

CharlesAlgun pulls Jack aside, whispering to him. "Is this the stuff he shows off to make a good impression? The pots were dented, and that knife is clearly bent. I think we should find another, unless you think you can get a particularly good deal here."

Cadiz asks, "I don't suppose you know of a Rose and Cross outpost here in town?"

Cadiz says, "Well, thank you."

Cadiz says, "Er, were you heading back to the ship? It might not be safe to travel alone just now."

CharlesAlgun repeats the procedure of letting Jack haggle, while he just looks over the goods.

Pyotr stage-whispers (to Cadiz), "Should we tell him we're planning to sail on soon?"

CharlesAlgun subtly gives Jack a nod, indicating satisfaction with the workmanship.

Cadiz nods to pyotr.

CharlesAlgun lets Jack make the final deal (rolling with one raise for Jack).

Cadiz asks, "Would it be possible to track down said owner?"

CharlesAlgun smiles.

Pyotr says, "should be fine in time, Pierre says"

Ghogg says, "Not based on this reference."

[7thsea] CharlesAlgun asks (of Pyotr), "Are we in the room with the maps and books, or a different room?"

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "I was looking at the maps, but i dunno"

Ghogg says, "I'll keep my eye out for any other references, this is the only complete catalogue of art in this general area I know of."

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "front room"

Cadiz copies down the information on a spare sheet of paper.

[7thsea] Ghogg says, "this was back in the map and book room. I don't know where Pyotr got the idea there was maps in the entrance"

Pyotr and Charles finally enter the map and book room.

Pyotr says (to Charles), "here it is, and here they are."

Ghogg says, "None I know personally."

CharlesAlgun smiles, waving to Cadiz and Baldwin.

Pyotr says (to Baldwin), "hello"

Pyotr asks (of cadiz), "anything useful?"

[7thsea] Cadiz says (to Baldwin), "Yeah, but I've seen the title of this little adventure, so I know it's apropos ;-)"

Cadiz says (to Pyotr), "could be."

Ghogg says, "You might try McGregor. He floats around the isles buying and selling, and I recall hearing he was in town."

Ghogg says, "I don't know how honest he is."

Pyotr says, "We'll keep him honest."

CharlesAlgun sees that Cadiz and Baldwin are intent in conversation, and takes to looking at the other books.

Ghogg says, "As for where you find him, I suggest finding someone who is more connected."

CharlesAlgun searches them over for any more that might be relevant -- anything about Sidhe or Glamour-related artifacts, especially.

Pyotr stage-whispers (to Cadiz), "We can ask at our next stop."

Ghogg says (to Charles), "resolve + research"

Pyotr is looking at the maps again.

Ghogg says, "As you lean your head closer it gets bopped by someone flinging open the door"

CharlesAlgun shakes his head.

Pyotr says, "We were just about to knock, sir."

Ghogg says, "There's 4 knights and 1 person who looks like a peddler of some sort"

CharlesAlgun says, "Hallo."

Ghogg says, "The peddler looks very panicked and is talking quickly to the knights as they leave"

Ghogg says, "They ignore you and run to the west"

CharlesAlgun bows. "We're friends of the Marquis Jean Claude du Dore..."

Cadiz asks (of peddler), "Is there a problem?"

CharlesAlgun glances over to see where they went.

Pyotr asks (of peddler), "what's this all about?"

Ghogg says, "He says to his back"

Ghogg says, "You hear some sort of scream to the west"

Ghogg says, "And some crying"

Ghogg says, "It's a couple streets down"

Cadiz sheds his dignity as he goes, since it only slows him down.

Ghogg says, "It's very bloody and it looks like it's had it's organs torn out and tossed around"

Cadiz asks, "And you unfortunately don't remember the type of artifact. Syrneth, I presume? Or perhaps of some other sort?"

Cadiz says, "This talks of one found unexpectedly."

Ghogg says, "I said it was secondhand, sorry."

Ghogg says, "I chatted abit with one of the people who guarded him, see, John. They apparently knew the story."

Cadiz asks, "Is he here?"

Ghogg says, "Oh, I do remember -- the Marquis said their services were no longer needed."

Pyotr says, "that sounds odd"

Ghogg says, "Now they're off helping some other noble in Castille."

Cadiz asks, "When did he dismiss them?"

Ghogg asks (of Cadiz), "Ah, I don't know, a month ago?"

Ghogg says (to Cadiz), "Two."

[Crows-Nest] BastardJack says, "This campaign is running pretty much in realtime - except that we spend a month and a half playing out 2 or 3 days, then jump ahead a month and a half to keep up."

Ghogg says, "Heh, we aren't the people to ask that sort o' thing."

Cadiz asks, "Is there an animal or monster specialist in town who might know what made this?"

Pyotr says (to cadiz), "we may not have that much time before the captain wants to sail"

Ghogg says, "Mm, might ask back at the Explorer Society. They deal more with unearthly creatures."

Cadiz says (to Pyotr), "If we can *find* the captain."

Cadiz nods.

Pyotr says, "point, although I'm in favor of promoting Bjorg ans sailing without, right now"

Cadiz grins.

Pyotr says, "anyway,let's go talk to your artist, and find him."

Cadiz says (to Torvald), "Well, you've been most helpful. Thanks for answering all our questions, and for vouching for us earlier."

Cadiz asks, "Unless anyone else has something?"

Pyotr says, "interesting"

Cadiz says (to Pyotr), "I wonder if the painting is still there, or if it was sold."

Pyotr says, "any clue how far it is? I suppose we could go look."

Cadiz and co. make their way to the explorer's society.

Cadiz says, "It's been closed off, I fear. And it would mean a delay in our departure. But it might be worth it. Let's see if anyone at the Explorer's society knows of that, too."

Pyotr says, "good idea"

Ghogg says, "<trudge trudge trudge>"

[7thsea] Cadiz says, "I'm really feeling sherlock-holmsian right now ;-)"

Ghogg says, "You've made it to the door, and you are about to enter.."

Ghogg says, "When one of the sailors from your boat runs up behind you"

Pyotr asks (of sailor), "what is it?"

Ghogg says, "'Ah, glad I caught you! They thought this was where you might've been.'"

Ghogg hands over a note

Pyotr hands the note to cadiz.

Ghogg says (to Charles), "go ahead"

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "unless it has picture-writing"

Ghogg says (to Charles), "that is, I didn't keep exactly what you said to write, so say it now :-)"

CharlesAlgun says, "On the outside of the folded note is, 'La Hija del Halcon', and below, 'Friends, please reward the bearer of this for his kindness.'"

Pyotr asks, "and inside?"

CharlesAlgun says, "Bjorg, Pyotr, Jack, Francesco: I've been arrested and locked up in Glenayre. Send help -- preferably someone who can account for my whereabouts earlier today. -Charles"

Cadiz says (to sailor), "Thank you. (tip)"

Ghogg says, "and we'll stop there"

Pyotr starts to curse.

Pyotr pauses cursing, ready to start again next week.

Ghogg says, "hee"

[7thsea] Pyotr asks, "okay, when was this morning?"

Ghogg says, "pause mid-curse"

[7thsea] Pyotr asks, "was that your shopping expedition?"

[7thsea] Pyotr asks, "or was that last week's session?"

[7thsea] Pyotr says (to cadiz), "also, I suspect he emant to tip whoever brought the message to the ship, not the sailor who brought it to us"

[7thsea] CharlesAlgun says, "This morning was when Jack and Cadiz sold stuff off, and the rest of us say Baldwin. Noon was the shopping expedition, and the afternoon was when I sneaked off."

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "okay"

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "geez, 2 weeks for one day. jack was right"

[7thsea] Cadiz says, "Heh."

[7thsea] Ghogg says, "day ain't over yet"

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "I guess next week me and Bjorg will come look for you"

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "bring the whole gang, I suppose."

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "anywya, that's for next week"

[7thsea] CharlesAlgun asks, "Should I make my log available yet, or wait until we're reunited?"

[7thsea] Ghogg says, "hmm"

[7thsea] Ghogg says, "yeah, you probably should wait"

[7thsea] CharlesAlgun says, "OK."

[7thsea] Pyotr asks, "anything else tonight?"

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "if not, ich schlefen"

[7thsea] CharlesAlgun asks, "Yeah. What's this about promoting Bjorg and leaving without me?"

[7thsea] Cadiz exclaims, "Now's our chance!"

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "that's what you get for getting us in trouble with teh R&C"

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "anyway, night all"

[7thsea] Pyotr says, "must go collapse in small heap"

[7thsea] CharlesAlgun waves to Pyotr.

[7thsea] CharlesAlgun turns off his own log.

Pyotr has disconnected.

[7thsea] Cadiz says, "This clue-tracking thing was a blast ;-)"
