Ghogg says, "In that case, Mr. Bradley may merely be thinking of the security of the nation."
Cadiz says, "Also true."
BJack asks (of Cadiz), "Not happy with the power 'e has?"
Ghogg says, "You see, the Graal is reason for our prosperity. Not much use being Minister of Commerce if everyone's destitute."
BJack asks (of Baldwin), "If he's only worried about the security, why doesn't he just come and talk to us?"
BJack asks, "Does he think we just came to Avalon to grab it and run, so we can sell it to the Vodacce?"
BJack mutters to Cadiz, "Mmm. Might not be a bad idea..."

Cadiz asks (of Charles), "Is there a good way to tell a seelie from an unseelie?"
Ghogg says, "Well, usually, seelie are proper and human-like, unseelie are in monsterous shapes they assume by creating a physical manifestation of their mental state."
BJack asks, "Would an unseelie necessarily have to have a shape at all?"
Ghogg says, "Well, it's not a purposeful transformation."
Ghogg says, "It just happens."
Cadiz says, "I suppose if it's for the Unseelie Cup, he might wish to double the prosperity of the nation."
Ghogg says, "There was a great rift many years ago, and banished Seelie became Unseelie."
BJack says, "What I guess I mean is, does an unseelie always have a shape to walk around, or might it just take one when it needed to... y'know..."
Ghogg says, "Possible. I know not the limits of such."
Cadiz asks (of Jack), "Are you thinking the monster might be an unseelie?"
BJack says (to Cadiz), "Aye, it did cross my mind."
Cadiz says (to charles), "The monster attacked and killed a fellow prisoner near Charles. It almost got him--seemed to be coming through the walls--when he got help and was moved to a different cell."
Cadiz says, "He heard a breathing noise coming at him."
BJack says, "And as it seems one of the first attacks was on our ship, it might be after the talon."
Ghogg asks, "Breathing, eh?"
BJack says, "Aye, 'tis what he said."
Ghogg says, "I suppose it is possible."
Cadiz says, "Oh, and we found another footprint in the blood of his other victim. Same as the one we already showed you."
Ghogg says, "Hmm."
Ghogg asks, "What is the name of your ship?"
Cadiz says, "I can never pronounce it."
BJack says, "Something about about a hawk... uh..."

[7thsea] BJack asks, "But how'd they know about our redocrations?"
Ghogg says, "It's got claw and tentacle things protruding everywhere."
[7thsea] Cadiz exclaims, "Hee!"
Ghogg says, "Only a rough conception. Nobody's really seen the thing clearly."
Ghogg says, "Visible in fog, that sort of thing."
BJack asks, "What *is* that?"
Ghogg says, "Well, the extravagant name most gave it was Demonstra."
Cadiz asks, "Because it demonstrated how to kill things?"
Ghogg says, "Perhaps the 'demon' part of the name is what was applicable."
BJack says, "The last time I saw anything remotely like that was when I spent two days with a fever."
Cadiz says, "Heh. As you say. Also, 'monster'."
Ghogg says, "In any case, your ship triggered a vague memory of this...captain had something to do with destroying it."
BJack asks, "Does this book tell the story of how he did it?"
Ghogg says, "Unfortunately no more details in here, it's just figures and what I'm sure are made up physical characteristics. One reason why it's been shuttled off to this corner."
Cadiz asks, "And now its mate is looking for revenge?"
Ghogg asks, "Mate?"
BJack asks, "Mate?"
Ghogg says, "Not sure how it would have a mate."
Ghogg says, "Pretty sure I recall hearing it was well solid dead, though."
Cadiz says, "Well, *some*things come back."
Ghogg says, "Not exactly the first thing that came to mind when you described your footprint earlier."
BJack says, "If she were anything like the original, I'm not sure it would *wnat* one."
Cadiz asks (of ghogg), "But the breathing, walking through walls, and fileting did?"
Ghogg says, "Anyway, of one I remember, this critter was for the most part invisible, although it got more substantial over time. Perhaps with ratio of blood spilt."
BJack asks (of Ghogg), "With a thing like that, how could you tell if it was dead or not?"
Ghogg says, "Well, yes, the walking through walls is what really got my memory going."
Cadiz asks, "Do you remember how it was killed?"
Ghogg says, "Conventional weaponry, I think."
Cadiz says, "That's a relief, at least."
Ghogg says, "Falls to a sword or a musket like any other critter."
Cadiz says, "Unless it didn't work."
BJack says (to Cadiz), "Was Charles armed? It looks like them let him keep his things."
Ghogg says, "[one moment, I need a glass of water]"
BJack says, "If it comes after him again, at least he'll have a fighting chance."
Cadiz says, "Also, the guards are on the alert."
Cadiz asks, "But the question is: is it the same one, or another?"
BJack says, "Good question."
BJack asks, "Did it come from the bloodstain, or was it just attracted to it?"
Cadiz says, "Hmm."
Ghogg says, "[back]"
Cadiz says, "I wonder if that was how the previous captain killed it."
Cadiz says, "Lured it with something it liked."
BJack asks, "Like a helpless victim?"

Cadiz pauses at the door.
Cadiz asks (of Charles), "Nothing else you can remember about that creature, is there?"
Cadiz asks, "Special powers we should be aware of? Unseelie?"
BJack says (to Cadiz), "It has a weakness for devilled eggs and likes to do Castillian ballroom dances."
Cadiz says (to Jack), "We should be set, then."
BJack asks, "You know how to make devilled eggs?"
Ghogg says, "Charles says, "Not sure, sorry. Most of this information was gleaned while drunk, you see."
Cadiz grins.
Cadiz asks, "Remember who you heard it from?"
[7thsea] BJack says (to Cadiz), "From the book, I thought."
[7thsea] Cadiz asks, "He read the book drunk?"
[7thsea] BJack laughs.
[7thsea] BJack says, "I meant that the book's author got the information either while drunk, or from people who in turn heard the stories while drunk."
[7thsea] BJack says, "Of course, I could be misudnerstanding."
Ghogg says, "Not sure, sorry."
Ghogg says, "Chubby bloke in the Red Eagle."
Cadiz asks, "Where is that?"
Ghogg says, "He doesn't go there anymore."
Ghogg says, "Er. Abit north of here."
BJack nods.
Ghogg says, "Head straight down the north-south crossstreet to here, look for the blazing red sign."
BJack asks (of Cadiz), "Do you want to try to go there before we go to Parliament, just to see if anyone's around who might remember the story?"
Cadiz says, "Hmm."
Cadiz says, "It's still a bit early for carousing."
Cadiz says, "We can hit there later if we still need to."
BJack nods.
[7thsea] BJack says, "Personally, I probably ought to be resigning soonish myself."
[7thsea] Cadiz says, "At least, I assume people don't hit the bars directly at sunset..."
[7thsea] BJack says (to Cadiz), "Depends on the people."
