[7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "also logging." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "we'll understand if Era has to idle unexpectedly" Maxwell heads to the library to look over the guides to monsters. Gamemaster says, "Resolve + research." Gamemaster says, "It'll take a while so I'll tell you result later." Eolo goes to see if Brunhilde is still awake. [7thsea] Maxwell asks, "Well first, is there an index or toc?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "nothing I plan on telling you this moment" [7thsea] Maxwell rolls 4k3: 8 9 2 8 | 25 [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "roll 'em first" DiegoValdez takes a bit of Muenster with him and walks along to the library after Maxwell. Gamemaster asks (of Giovanna), "Are you awake?" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "nice roll" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "yes" Gamemaster says, "One moment for window switching" Lowenherz has entered from behind the curtain. Maxwell starts looking through them, with the trainer's list in hand. Lowenherz comes bearing five books DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "senor ... I beg your pardon for the words earlier ... loyalty to your ruler comes first, of course." Lowenherz says (to Giovanna), "It's been awhile since I looked, but some of these might interest you." DiegoValdez says, "Er. Speaking of whom.... buenas noches." Lowenherz sits down. Gamemaster says (to Eolo), "You've made it out to Brunhilde's place" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Oh wait, Lowenherz in dining, not library. never mind me." Gamemaster says, "(btw, that's an umlaut u)" Giovanna looks at the books curiously and flips a few pages. Eolo knocks on the door. [Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "Umlaut? Well, that explains everything." Lowenherz says, "They are generally stories about famous Fate Witches of time past" Lowenherz says, "Their accomplishments and research" [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "heh" [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster exclaims, "suddenly, the entire story falls into place!" [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez says, "Yay oysters." Maxwell says (to Diego), "Oh, hmm. Glad to hear you're not upset." Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "Where is that story about the blank cards, of which you told me?" [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez says, "(the word 'umlaut' always makes me think of oysters.)" Lowenherz says, "Yes, I do still have that book...let's see..." [Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "huh. um." Lowenherz flips pages Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "You start to get the impression these are not well-written books at all, but rather popular trash" Eolo says (to Brunhilde), "I apologize for disturbing you at this hour, but I was hoping to get this leg-wound bound before I slept." Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "Like somone's travel notes that seem barely credible" DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "I cannot really fault you on it, senor." Gamemaster says, "Brunhilde says, (to Eolo), "Come in, then, I'll take a look."" Maxwell frowns somewhat. Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "None that are a general index on specific monsters" Eolo steps inside. DiegoValdez asks (of Max), "Is something wrong?" Eolo asks (of Brunhilde), "did you have a chance to look at the palmest, earlier?" Maxwell says, "These books aren't particularly organized or reliable." Maxwell says, "Like someone's notes even." Lowenherz says, "Right. Here we are. Rebecca Caligari." [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "rather than speed-reading the transcript, can someone catch me up on the important bits? I got as far as the child being kidnapped, and the palmist animal-herb." Lowenherz says, "There's a picture of her, even. Hm. I didn't remember that before." Lowenherz shows the book Giovanna looks at the picture, intrigued. [7thsea] Eolo says, "we went into the forest, except for giovanna, and found and fought a monster" Maxwell says, "but maybe there's something about the sort of creature we faced today." [7thsea] Eolo says, "which had probably been trained by the palmest herb" DiegoValdez looks around. "...not exactly the San Cristobal university library...." [7thsea] Maxwell asks, "reroll to look for that?" [7thsea] Eolo says, "we waited around to look for the guy but he had gone, maybe. unless he came by later." Gamemaster says (to Eolo), "Lowenherz stopped by. It's not a healing herb so I'm not terribly familiar with it." Gamemaster says (to Eolo), "It grows in southern Montaigne." Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "What does it say of... the Caligari family?" [7thsea] Eolo says, "meanwhile, lowenherz's horses were poisoned by someone, probably sieger" Eolo asks (of Brunhilde), "is it common here? do you have any, for instance?" DiegoValdez says, "Perhaps we should have brought it back for senor Lowenherz to look at." [7thsea] Eolo says, "and giovanna got to use her mad poison-detection skillz" Gamemaster says (to Giovanna), "The picture shows a woman who is drawn as fairly young and beautiful studying a set of cards" Gamemaster says (to Giovanna), "oddly, behind her there's a spider of some sort sketched in" Maxwell says (to Diego), "I think he's a bit preoccupied." [7thsea] Eolo says, "giovanna got a lecture about her powers from lowenherz" Giovanna bends to look more closely at the spider. [7thsea] Gamemaster asks (of Eolo), "also, is it 1 dramatic?" [7thsea] Eolo says, "yeah" DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "Ah, he could look at it tomorrow, I'm sure." [7thsea] Gamemaster rolls 8k4: 6 6 9 6 7 3 7 1 | 29 [7thsea] Gamemaster rolls 7k4: 7 1 10+1 5 1 5 4 | 28 DiegoValdez asks (of Maxwell), "Should we go back to get it?" Gamemaster says (to Eolo), "Do be careful with that leg, it still needs time to heal." Maxwell says (to Diego), "I'm sorry, what? I thought you meant the books." Eolo says, "next time, I will stand behind Diego when there are creatures biting." Eolo grins. Maxwell is fairly absorbed in his searching. Gamemaster says (to Giovanna), "there's not a lot of detail, it's just a spider" Gamemaster says (to Giovanna), "somewhat large, 8 legs, no definite species" Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "Is there anything in the story about this spider?" [7thsea] Maxwell asks (of GM), "[repeat] do I need another roll to look for anything about what we faced?" DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "I beg your pardon, I meant the creature in the cave. Perhaps we could have it stuffed and mounted like the other trophies." Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "There's one part of interest..." Eolo pays Brunhilde, thanks her, and makes his way back to the manor. Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "in the middle of one long and boring travelogue that sounds like it was all made up, you notice a part that has been underlined, or at least it was but the underline was scratched out" Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "It's telling a story about an Ancient Drachen that ruled the monsters 1500 years ago" Maxwell finds an interesting part and translates aloud. Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "abit more later, let me get back to Giovanna" [7thsea] (from DiegoValdez) Gamemaster says, "and its name was T-Rex." [7thsea] Maxwell exclaims, "yes!" Lowenherz says (to Giovanna), "I've glanced through it now, there's no mention of spiders." DiegoValdez says (to Max), "Huh. That sounds ... rather wildly improbable." Lowenherz says (to Giovanna), "The story told here is the version where she dies immediately after the cards are turned over." Maxwell says, "mm, yes." [7thsea] Maxwell asks, "hm, Federico is missing again?" Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "Intriguing." Lowenherz says, "Sort of a lurid style...'And she fingered the next card, trembling...'" Giovanna asks, "Does it say much about her family?" Lowenherz says, "'...and with great apprehension flipped it over and there....another blank card.'" Lowenherz says, "Hm. I'm afraid this isn't as detailed as you might like, but I can check for you." [7thsea] (from DiegoValdez) Lowenherz says, "Yes. There was a Dr Caligari who had a cabinet...." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "hee" Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "hmm." [7thsea] Maxwell asks, "Who was curing Eolo?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "Brunhilde" Giovanna asks, "Are there any stories about dreams?" [7thsea] Eolo says, "who is the herbalist/doctor down the street" [7thsea] Maxwell says, "oh, right" [7thsea] Eolo says, "that we went to earlier for giovanna" Gamemaster asks (of Era), "What are you doing?" Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "Basically, it's about a giant drachen that after causing an undue amount of havoc was imprisoned under the earth by the gods" [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "dunno where I am. sorry. hard to focus." Gamemaster says (to Era), "Well, let's say your stomach has been feeling somewhat badly but you've slightly recovered and went in to see Maxwell and Diego" [7thsea] DiegoValdez asks (of Era), "I'm guessing you're probably in the dining room, munching cheese and watching the interchange between Giovanna and Lowenherz?" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says (to Era), "Or not." [7thsea] Gamemaster says (to Era), "as if a tablesaw had been run through it, of course :-)" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says (to Gamemaster), "heh. sorry." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "nah, it doesn't really matter" Eolo wanders back in to the room with Giovanna & Lowenherz and takes a chair. [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "okay, I'm cheese-munching." Lowenherz flips pages [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "aw." Lowenherz says, "There's are mainly just short stories" Lowenherz says, "But, ah, wait, dreams." Lowenherz takes out another book Giovanna glances at Eolo and abstractedly pushes the cheese plate in his direction. Lowenherz says, "No title, and some cryptic essays...the first one is all gibberish...but the second one..." Era_Khar'Kov intercepts the cheese plate and has a bite. Lowenherz says (to Era), "Ah, hello." Lowenherz asks (of Era), "Is your stomach feeling better?" DiegoValdez chuckles as Max reads the story aloud. Heh, whatever would the Church say about that. Era_Khar'Kov says, "Yes." Era_Khar'Kov says, "Thank you." Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "Yes...?" Eolo seems to be feeling better, enough to take a piece. He glances at it carefully before eating. Lowenherz asks, "Good to hear. Has anyone informed you of what's happened today?" Era_Khar'Kov says, "Not in detail." Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "Also, it enigmatically suggests the drachen is still alive" Era_Khar'Kov asks, "I gather a monster was vanquished?" Lowenherz says, "You should ask our battle veteran here about that." Lowenherz motions to Eolo [7thsea] Maxwell says, "Yes, but the worse monster is yet to be dealt with." Lowenherz says (to Giovanna), "In any case, this book, the second part, has something that roughly translates to 'The Interpretation of Dreams.'" [7thsea] DiegoValdez asks (of Maxwell), "You mean Sieger?" [Crows-Nest] Maxwell asks, "Lots of stuff about bananas and cigars?" Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Eolo), "But you didn't find who was responsible?" Eolo says, "mm" Giovanna sits forward. [7thsea] Maxwell nods. Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "What does it say?" Lowenherz says, "Well, it's a long essay...I frankly don't recall understanding it when I read it..." Eolo says, "a man and his trained beast kidnapped a baby from a house near the forest. we tracked the beast to a secret lair in the forest and killed it" Eolo says, "there was no trace of the man." Lowenherz flips pages Maxwell says, "Hm. Drachen." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Eolo), "Interesting." Lowenherz asks, "Is there anything I should look for in particular?" Maxwell says, "The story sounds rather silly -- but..." Era_Khar'Kov asks, "Do you think the man is nearby?" DiegoValdez asks (of Maxwell), "You don't suppose that creature was a drachen, was it?" Maxwell says (to Diego), "Today's? No." DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "Oh." Maxwell says, "But I was thinking of those shakings we heard about, beneath Jean Claude's manor." Lowenherz glances at Giovanna. Lowenherz says, "Hm.." Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "I was hoping for an explanation of the dreams that you spoke of -- associated with a change in..." DiegoValdez asks (of Maxwell), "Oh! Didn't the Marquis' lands use to be part of Eisen?" Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "well, perhaps not change. A tampering with threads." Eolo says, "if the beast was indeed his pet, he would presumably have stayed nearby" Eolo says, "but it is hard to say -- there were signs he may have been training it for someone else" Lowenherz asks, "My own dreams, you mean?" Maxwell says (to Diego), "Yes, that's right. The Gruenwalds were there during that time, of course." Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "Or-- that general category of thing, shall we say." Giovanna says, "Whether they are accurate, and what one sees. Exactly." Lowenherz says, "Hmm." Lowenherz asks (of Eolo&Era), "Can you leave us alone for a moment?" Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Eolo), "Shall we step out?" DiegoValdez says, "Poor senor Gruenwald ... I wonder how he is...." Era_Khar'Kov does so. Eolo says (to Era), "apparently." Eolo follows. Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Eolo), "Want to visit whatever passes for a tavern in this town?" Maxwell says, "Unfortunately, I can't find even an anecdote about that snouted creature with the strong blood." Lowenherz says, "I'll tell you specifically....my own dreams....had a floating skull that was mocking me." Maxwell says, "Who knows what I could be missing though, the way this is written." Lowenherz says, "It spit, shouted profanities, hummed in tongues." Eolo says (to Era), "I don't remember the inn being much to speak of, but I wouldn't mind a distraction." Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "How ghastly." Giovanna asks, "Did it tell you anything that proved to be true?" Lowenherz says, "I'm afraid I don't remember any other salient details...I've somewhat shut them off." DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "I'd give it a shot, if my handle on the language were up to snuff." Giovanna nods. "Understandable." Lowenherz says, "No, no floating skulls in real life that I have encountered." Eolo leads the way to the inn. Giovanna says, "I-- was just wondering if any of the effects of fate manipulation are recorded there, and what sort of dreams they send to the victims." [Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "If we did meet one, we'd obviously try to kick it." Lowenherz says, "Ah, hm. I don't think this essay covers that." Lowenherz flips pages DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "In any case ... perhaps we should rejoin the others." [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez says, "hmmm. If coffee place gave me decaf, heads will roll...." Lowenherz says, "I believe I had this book because I had spotted something in the first section, the gibberish, that interested me." Lowenherz says, "I can't remember now." Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "Oh?" Giovanna asks, "Is it some kind of trick writing or code?" Maxwell says, "Yes. Actually, I wonder where Federico is, I'm a bit bruised up from hitting that wall." Lowenherz flips to the gibberish Lowenherz says, "You can read this as well as I." Lowenherz hands over the book Giovanna stares fixedly at the little letters on the page. DiegoValdez chuckles. "Heh, I thought you Eiseners were tuff.... Gamemaster says, "It's writing done directly to the page in a hasty cribbed hand" Gamemaster says, "Every once in a while there's an odd diagram" Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Eolo), "Shall we try eavesdropping on the patrons again? or perhaps engage them in conversation?" Giovanna examines the diagrams. Gamemaster says, "Usually it involves a circle of some sort with many lines running to points along the edge" DiegoValdez turns and strolls out of the library towards the dining room. Gamemaster says, "And then random...letters?...written inside" Giovanna looks back at Lowenherz. "Any idea what *these* might mean?" Maxwell says (to Diego), "Well, I've ignored it this long. But it would be nice to get a good sleep tonight." Eolo says (to Era), "I am a little interested to know what was the motive for today's events" [7thsea] Giovanna rolls 3k3: 8 8 9 | 25 Eolo orders a drink, and goes to sit down at the bar. Gamemaster says (to Giovanna), "You feel an odd black flash, and as if something clicked in the back of your mind as you look at the diagrams" Giovanna tries to pinpoint the source of this feeling. Era_Khar'Kov pulls up a chair and orders a somewhat midler drink. Lowenherz says (to Giovanna), "I'm afraid I don't remember." Eolo says (to Bartender), "nasty scene in the streets today" Gamemaster says, "Aye." Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "And you looked at these at some length?" Eolo says, "shame for a woman to lose her child like that" [7thsea] Maxwell finds Federico? DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "Perhaps the good doctor Brunhilde might be of some help." Lowenherz rubs his chin DiegoValdez strolls into the dining room. Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Bartender), "Any idea what might have brought something like that on?" Lowenherz says (to Giovanna), "It's almost as if I remember opening the book, but then there's a gap in my memory." [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez says, "Oh dear ... it's the Necronomicon...." Giovanna (to Lowenherz) nods Giovanna says, "I see." [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "hee" Giovanna asks, "And did you... feel changed after that?" [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "just keep thinking optimistically like that" Lowenherz says, "No, not that I can remember." Giovanna says, "You mentioned some ambivalence about yourself, starting sometime in the indeterminate past..." Giovanna says, "hmm." Giovanna says, "Nonetheless..." DiegoValdez looks from Giovanna to Lowenherz, a little surprised. [7thsea] Giovanna says, "wait, I thought we were alone in here" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "I just strolled in." [7thsea] Giovanna says, "oh, right." Giovanna glances up at Diego, as though noticing him there for the first time. [7thsea] Maxwell says, "Because he's such a fan of dramatic irony. And was looking for everyone where he last left them." Gamemaster says (to Era), "No clue, ma'am. No monsters around here for years." DiegoValdez asks, "I beg your pardon ... am I interrupting?" Giovanna makes an amused expression, and gets up. "Not at all." Lowenherz says, "Here, perhaps he should look at this.." Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Bartender), "Anyone who might have a grudge against the woman or her family?" Lowenherz hands over the book DiegoValdez looks at the book. Giovanna opens her mouth, then shuts it again and shrugs. Gamemaster says, "Nah, just another local farmer type. They don't tend to accumulate enemies." Gamemaster says (to Diego), "the part he's showing you, the pages are blank" DiegoValdez frowns and turns the page. Gamemaster says, "more blank pages." Era_Khar'Kov looks speculatively at Eolo and asks (in Montaigne) "Maybe the child was the focus, then." DiegoValdez says, "(trying to be polite) quite a fine notebook, I'm sure. Good quality paper." Lowenherz asks, "Hm?" Eolo says (to Era), "it's possible. but it ended up as a meal." Giovanna looks at Diego with amusement. Lowenherz asks, "You don't see anything written there?" Era_Khar'Kov says (to Eolo), "Perhaps we're looking at this too narrowly." Giovanna gives Lowenherz a forbidding look and shakes her head slightly. DiegoValdez flips to the beginning. "You have yet to use it?" Lowenherz glaces at Giovanna curiously Lowenherz says, "Hmm..." Lowenherz takes back the book and flips to the Dreams section Lowenherz hands it back Lowenherz asks, "Anything there?" Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Barkeep), "Have there been any stories like this in other towns?" Eolo says, "it's hard to see why the family would matter" Gamemaster says (to Diego), "You can't read Eisen well that yet, but it's some printed Eisen text" Eolo says, "unless they are the closest to the forest." DiegoValdez gives Lowenherz a strange look, then looks back at the book. Gamemaster says (to Era), "Always critter stories." Gamemaster asks, "Which of the 500 or so would ya like to hear?" Era_Khar'Kov asks, "Anything recent? Or similar to this one?" DiegoValdez says, "Oh, well, I hadn't seen this ... I'm afraid I'm not quite familiar with Eisen writing just yet." Gamemaster says, "Mm. I'm afraid I don't get out of town much anymore, ma'am." DiegoValdez says, "Rather odd, beginning the book so many pages late." Lowenherz takes the book back again Lowenherz says, "Yes....hm..." Lowenherz asks (of Diego), "Could you leave us alone a moment?" Era_Khar'Kov orders a second drink and tips the bartender. DiegoValdez's eyebrows go up. Way up. DiegoValdez says, "Si ..." Maxwell goes to the kitchen and takes the time to carefully wash his dagger. Lowenherz flips to the first section and frowns Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "It seems to be some kind of magical text." Lowenherz says, "Yes..." Giovanna says, "I believe our friend here is too innocent for such things." Lowenherz asks, "But why can we read it, but not Diego?" DiegoValdez bows, looks again at the blank pages, Lowenherz, Giovanna, then turns and heads out. Lowenherz says, "Hmm." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Yay innocence." Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "Perhaps it is a kind of key to a lock in the mind" Giovanna says, "If you do not possess such a lock--" Lowenherz says, "Hm." Giovanna says, "I am wondering already how it has changed me." Lowenherz asks (of Giovanna), "What did you feel?" [7thsea] Giovanna asks, "there's now no one else around, right?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "right" Giovanna says, "A kind of snapping in the back of my mind. Unsettling, as though I'd realized something and didn't know what it was." Giovanna says, "Like when you realize that you've forgotten something... you half know and half don't." DiegoValdez hears movement in the kitchen as he passes, and pops in. Gamemaster says, "A woman with blonde hair and a drachensian breastplate walks into the tavern" Gamemaster says, "She also has a long zweihander sheathed behind her back" Giovanna does an arcana check on herself, just in case. [7thsea] Giovanna rolls 4k3 (no explosions): 1 8 3 4 | 15 Eolo glances over. Gamemaster tries to remember Giovanna's arcana Gamemaster says, "She walks up and orders a beer" Eolo says (to Lady), "nice sword." [7thsea] Giovanna says, "for Arrogance" Gamemaster says, "She glances at Eolo sideways and goes back to her mug" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "it isn't changed any" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "what I'm wondering is if it's hovering between inverted/regular" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "no" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "as Low.'s seems confused" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "okay" Giovanna packs the cards up again with a shrug. [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "yeah, I see what you are getting at, it isn't that :-)" Giovanna asks, "Is there anything in your reading about texts that change people?" Giovanna asks, "Magic books?" Lowenherz says, "No, nothing like that." Lowenherz studies a diagram [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov racks her brain trying to come up with an approach to talk with the woman. Lowenherz says, "I don't feel any...oddness...." DiegoValdez asks (of Maxwell), "ah. How's the battle-injury?" Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "And what about what you sensed about me earlier? Any change?" Lowenherz says, "Hm..." Maxwell says (to Diego), "Just a little sore yet." Lowenherz says, "Yes." [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov asks, "Does she look like nobility?" Maxwell says (to Diego), "I wonder where everyone's gotten to." Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "How so?" [7thsea] Eolo says, "no wonder I'm getting on so well with her" Lowenherz says, "I can't pinpoint it." [7thsea] Maxwell says, "Usually only nobles have Dracheneisen." [7thsea] dfan has joined the channel. [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "Right." DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "Well, I think senor Lowenherz is teaching Giovanna to read (high time she learnt, if you ask me) ... I don't know where Eolo, Era or the padre have gotten themselves to." [Crows-Nest] dfan has joined the channel. dfan arrives, looking for booty. [7thsea] Giovanna says (to Diego), "Heh" Gamemaster asks, "er, has anyone talked with her?" Gamemaster asks, "besides Eolo?" Gamemaster says, "just wondering if I missed a line" [7thsea] Eolo says, "era is sitting there staring" [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says (to GM), "No, not yet." Era_Khar'Kov asks (of woman), "By your armor, I assume you are from one of the ruling houses---are you here to see Lowenhertz?" [7thsea] Maxwell says, "There's that extra T again." [7thsea] DGlasser has joined the channel. [Crows-Nest] DGlasser has joined the channel. DGlasser arrives, looking for booty. Gamemaster says, "I am Lowenherz's chief commander. He sent for me, but was expecting me next morning, so I've stopped for a drink." Gamemaster asks, "And who might you be?" Eolo says, "visitors." Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "A change in the kind of power? or amount?" Lowenherz says, "It has to do with that..." Era_Khar'Kov says, "My name is Era from the house Khar'kov, in Ussura." Giovanna grimaces faintly, but tries to hide her frustration. Lowenherz says, "I'm still mystified about the book...I actually obtained this one five years or so ago, it wasn't part of the collection I got during that year." Giovanna asks, "Where did you... obtain it?" Era_Khar'Kov says, "We've been visiting with Lowenherz, having come with an agent of his." Lowenherz says, "Distant relative died. I got some of what small collection he had." DiegoValdez asks (of Maxwell), "Well, we seem to be at a loose end. So ... how about a quick nip down to the cantina for a drink?" CharlesAlgun has disconnected. [7thsea] Rob has joined the channel. Rob arrives, looking for booty. Gamemaster turns around Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "I see. And was there anything out of the ordinary about him?" Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "Ah, hello Maxwell." Maxwell says (to Diego), "Hm. I suppose." [7thsea] Maxwell asks, "Er, who's this?" Gamemaster asks (of Maxwell), "I was not paying much attention when I entered. How are you?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "the lady with the zweihander" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "she's what she just said she wasd" Era_Khar'Kov asks (of woman), "Are you here to investigate the monster attack?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "so you know her on a professional basis but not any more detail than that" Maxwell says, "Well enough, considering the situation." Gamemaster asks, "Monster attack?" [7thsea] DiegoValdez asks, "Er ... wait, I thought Max and I were in the kitchen, and zweihander lady was in the inn?" [7thsea] Maxwell says, "We got there fast, I guess." Gamemaster says, "Hm. Perhaps I am. Lowenherz specified a mission of some sort that needed planning." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Okay." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "it's not that far away" [7thsea] Gamemaster asks, "I thought you were heading to it, right?" Era_Khar'Kov says, "A child was stolen from its crib by a monster that Eolo here tracked down and slew." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "if you weren't ignore all that :-)" Maxwell says, "So you don't know yet. It's not a good situation, I'm afraid." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "We were, just at the same time as she turned around. You must have been reading our minds." DiegoValdez glances at Era and Eolo, amused. [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "heh. yeah, put a lag of about a minute in there :-)" [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Diego), "When did you walk in?" Eolo gestures vaguely to Diego. [7thsea] DiegoValdez says (to Era), "Right behind Maxwell." Eolo says, "you could talk to him about it, if you're interested." Giovanna, still concerned about mysterious changes, does another swords spread for herself. Gamemaster says, "We haven't had monsters here in some time." [7thsea] Giovanna rolls 4k3 (no explosions): 5 5 9 7 | 21 [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov asks, "OK. My question becomes: When did Maxwell come in?" Lowenherz studies the page some more Eolo says, "not until now, no" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says (to Era), "about one minute ago." [7thsea] Giovanna asks, "same as before?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "yes" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "hmm" Maxwell says (to Commander), "This is probably not the place though." DiegoValdez says, "It was rather interesting ... I'd never actually seen a monster before." Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "As you see, I'm not particularly daunting, since all I can do is obtain a little information..." Gamemaster finish off the mug and asks for another Giovanna asks, "Are you sure there's nothing more in those books that gives details on fate manipulation, particularly what the victims experience?" Lowenherz says (to Giovanna), "I have a theory..." Giovanna asks, "yes...?" Lowenherz says, "Close your eyes and deal them in a way that...feels appropriate." DiegoValdez sits down and calls for a mug of ale as well. (mmm. interesting drink, this....) Lowenherz says, "But isn't necessarily anything you've been taught." Giovanna gives Lowenherz a dubious look. Giovanna does as she's told, with a STRONG air of humoring him. Gamemaster says (to Giovanna), "roll resolve. this involves serious raising as well" [7thsea] Giovanna rolls 3k3: 6 2 2 | 10 Gamemaster says (to Giovanna), "just gibberish" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "gack" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "I was going to try throwing in a drama die" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "you need at least a 30" Giovanna asks (of Lowenherz), "I'm just supposed to... sense this correct spread?" Cadiz arrives, looking for booty. [7thsea] Giovanna says, "oy" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "I need more resolve :)" Lowenherz says, "Ah, probably nothing." Giovanna frowns, troubled. Lowenherz says, "Also, it looks like my particular focus in burning was on the ones regarding fate attacks." Lowenherz says, "Perhaps I had more method then than I remember." DGlasser disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again. [7thsea] DGlasser has left the channel. [Crows-Nest] DGlasser has left the channel. [Crows-Nest] Cadiz exclaims, "I was watching, and kept wanting to make comments!" [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "heh" Gamemaster asks, "anyone back at tavern doing anything?" DiegoValdez asks (of Max), "So, you two seem to know each other ... perhaps you could introduce us?" Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "I see. Then I suppose there is nothing more to be done here -- perhaps I should rejoin my friends." Giovanna says, "Thank you for all your help, however." Giovanna heads off for the tavern. Maxwell introduces Diego, Era, and Eolo as friends of his, to the commander Eva Thornwald, and vice versa. Lowenherz says, "I'll try to let you know if I have any other ideas." Lowenherz says, "Or find any more useful books." Lowenherz says, "I'll dig through the library some more." Lowenherz stands up Giovanna (before getting quite out the door) nods to Lowenherz. Lowenherz goes Giovanna says, "Let me know if you need any assistance in your own -- business" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "timing -- seem to keep managing to talk to air here" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "ah well" DiegoValdez rises and drops a kiss to Eva's hand. "Charmed to make your acquaintance, senora. Might I buy you a beer?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "heh, I was trying to figure out when you were done" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "I'll just say he heard that line" Rob disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again. [7thsea] Rob has left the channel. Gamemaster says, "Hm...I probably shouldn't drink a third tonight." Gamemaster asks, "So, how does a Castillian end up in Eisen?" Gamemaster asks (of Giovanna), "are you going to meet them?" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "yes" Eolo glances at Giovanna as she enters the inn. [7thsea] Giovanna says, "though presumably I won't understand their conversation" DiegoValdez says, "Ah, that's a rather embarrassing story (glances at Maxwell). There was a little misunderstanding." [7thsea] Eolo says, "I'll translate the bits suitable for ladies" Giovanna looks at the collection of people dfan disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again. Maxwell introduces Giovanna as well. Gamemaster says, "Indeed." Eolo motions to a chair. [7thsea] Giovanna says, "how kind of you" Eva says, "(quick makeup change)" Giovanna sits, surprised by this display of good manners. Eva says (to Giovanna), "Hello." Giovanna says (to Eva), "Good evening." Gamemaster says (to Giovanna), "(um)" Gamemaster says (to Giovanna), "(you didn't understand that)" [7thsea] Giovanna asks (of Gamemaster), "Eva hasn't got Montaigne or Vodacce?" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "oh, sorry. IRTA Era" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "mrg" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "hee" Giovanna looks at Eva apprehensively. Eolo grins. Eva says, "Hm. Hello? (in Ussurian)" Giovanna mutters to Eolo in Vodacce, "Did she just curse my family, or is that some kind of greeting here?" Maxwell says (to Eva), "These friends have come with me." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Giovanna), "She's just saying hello." Eolo says (to Giovanna), "(in Vodacce) she says hello. She's the commander of Lowenherz's army or something." Maxwell says (to Eva), "Giovanna is from Vodacce, and speaks no Eisen." Giovanna greets Eva in Vodacce. Maxwell says (to Eva), "Some of the others are only learning Eisen." Eolo says (to Giovanna), "(in Vodacce) and, mysteriously, was not overcome by my charming manner" Eva says, "Ah." DiegoValdez has disconnected. DiegoValdez has connected. Eva says, "I'm afraid I only know Eisen and Ussurian." Giovanna asks (of Eolo), "Forgot to take the thorns off the rose before you produced it?" DiegoValdez chuckles. Eolo says (to Giovanna), "I thought it best to forget the rose entirely this time" Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Eva), "Have you spent much time in Ussura?" Giovanna glances at Eva and revises her opinion. "Actually this one looks like she might like thorns." Eva says, "I did some training there." [7thsea] Maxwell asks, "You did catch the name Thornwald, right?" Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Eva), "What region?" Giovanna thinks that she could really use some of that white powder she had earlier. Eva says, "They seem to be particularly knowledge about resisting the elements." Era_Khar'Kov grins. [7thsea] Eolo says, "good point." Eva says, "Pavtlow." Era_Khar'Kov says, "The elements do not seem so harsh when you grow up with them." [7thsea] DiegoValdez asks, "What language, currently?" [7thsea] Eolo asks, "Eisen, yes?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "well, unless era started talking in ussurian" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "in which case she'd respond in kind" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Okay ... I thought it might have branched into Ussuran" [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "I was thinking Ussuran, actually." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "ok, Ussurian it is" [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "I will switch to be polite." [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov grins. DiegoValdez looks blank. Pretty much nothing familiar in this new language. Eva says (to Era), "Also, some of their theories on the axe match ours with the zweihander." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Eva), "(in Eisen) You trained in Pavtlow? I have some relatives there. None that trained with the zweihander, though." Eva says, "I don't know anyone outside Eisen who knows the weapon specifically." Era_Khar'Kov says, "That's an impressive weapon when weilded by an experienced fighter." Eva says, "I try to remain modest." DiegoValdez looks at the zweihander. Yow. How on earth does one use something like that? Giovanna privately considers the whole thing very uncouth. Era_Khar'Kov asks, "So what were you training for in Pavtlow?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "hee" Eolo says (to Giovanna), "a knife might be a bit more subtle" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Considering Giovanna's upbringing and the Vodacce outlook re: women....." Eva says, "Formal training, merely strength." [7thsea] (from Maxwell) Diego thinks, "You'd need both hands just to -- oh wait." Era_Khar'Kov nods. Giovanna says (to Eolo), "Or poison." Eva says, "Although I worked on being hardened to the cold." Eolo says (to Giovanna), "or both." Eolo says (to Giovanna), "just to be sure, you know." Giovanna asks (of Eolo), "Are they discussing anything interesting, or just exchanging a few grunts about the weather?" DiegoValdez thinks about the warm sunny climate of his native Castille. Ah, la nostalgia.... Eolo shrugs. Era_Khar'Kov says (to Eva), "Ussura is definitely the place for that." Eolo says (to Giovanna), "they're talking in some foreign tongue now -- Ussurran, I think" Giovanna says (to Eolo), "They all sound the same to me." [7thsea] Maxwell says, "No, they switched back to Eisen a while back." [7thsea] Eolo says, "(er, strike that. perhaps not.)" [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "Yes, we switched." Eva says, "Anyway, I'd best get some sleep." DiegoValdez says, "It looks like it might be a busy day tomorrow, yes." Eolo says (to Giovanna), "comparing notes on where they grew up -- at least they have battle in combat." Maxwell says (to Eva), "You may want to be filled in on the situation that has developed first. Although it could wait for morning, I suppose." Giovanna says (to Eolo), "How pleasant for them." Eva goes Eolo says (to Giovanna), "and now, it appears, it is bedtime." Era_Khar'Kov suggests following Eva's example, and turning in. Eolo asks (of Maxwell), "where are we to sleep? does Lowenherz have room for so many?" DiegoValdez says, "Si ...." DiegoValdez finishes his mug of beer. Giovanna says (to Eolo), "I see. Very simple, these people." [7thsea] Maxwell says, "He said yes, didn't he? I can't remember." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "yes" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Yes" Maxwell says, "Yes, there's room." Eolo says, "I think it may be bedtime, then." DiegoValdez rises. [7thsea] Gamemaster asks, "fast forward?" Maxwell asks, "But I'll be leaving in the morning -- I suppose you'll want to come with me?" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "sure" Eolo stands, and pays the bartender. Eolo asks, "leaving where?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "there's one last interesting thing before bed..." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "si." Eolo says, "or for where, rather." Gamemaster hits the fast forward button [7thsea] Maxwell says, "hey, wait" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "what" Maxwell says, "As many places as I can. I suppose we could go to Freiburg first, after that I really haven't decided." DiegoValdez asks (of Max), "what about Sieger?" Maxwell says (to Diego), "Not just now, no." DiegoValdez asks (of Max), "Isn't your place here, with your employer?" Maxwell says, "Well, or travelling at his bidding." Maxwell says, "But anyway, let's head back now." DiegoValdez says (to Max), "Ah. Well, we'll see how it goes ... I'm tired now, and we can decide in the morning." Gamemaster hits fast forward for real this time [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "heh" Gamemaster says, "Ok, you are back" Gamemaster says, "There's no sign of Lowenherz" Eolo says, "odd." Eolo asks (of Giovanna), "where did you leave him?" Franz has entered from behind the curtain. [7thsea] Maxwell asks, "And Franz?" Giovanna says, "In the dining room" [7thsea] Maxwell says, "ah" Giovanna says, "He seemed well..." DiegoValdez says, "He's probably in bed by now...." Maxwell asks (of Franz), "Are the rooms for the guests ready?" Franz says, "Lowenherz told me to make sure you found your rooms, he's busy in the library." DiegoValdez says, "Ah, the midnight oil. I remember the days...." DiegoValdez says, "Or nights, rather." Franz says, "Right, if you come with me...." DiegoValdez follows Franz. Giovanna goes with the others Maxwell says, "Good night to everyone, then." Era_Khar'Kov goes. Maxwell heads to stop by the library. Gamemaster says, "It's not real important to draw out a map right now, so I'll just do quick description -- back a couple rooms to stairs, up two floors to some pleasantly furnished rooms" Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "Lowenherz appears to be staring at a blank page in a book...he looks like he's in some sort of trance" Eolo checks his windows to make sure they're locked, examines the closet, oils his crossbow, undresses, and goes to bed. Gamemaster says, "Strong oak table, chest, bed." Maxwell asks (of Lowenherz), "Sir?" Gamemaster says, "Feather mattress." Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "He still looks dazed." DiegoValdez yawns, undresses, and drops into bed. Eolo glares at the feather bed before falling asleep on it. Lowenherz yelps Lowenherz almost falls off his chair Maxwell frowns as he steps closer and looks from the blank pages to the Eisenfu"rst. Lowenherz says, "What, er...oh, hello Maxwell." Maxwell exclaims, "Oh!" Lowenherz says, "I must have, hm, fallen asleep there." Lowenherz says, "It's been a busy day I suppose." Maxwell asks (of Lo"wenherz), "You're alright?" Era_Khar'Kov looks appreciatively around the room before slipping between the sheets. Lowenherz says, "Yes, I'm fine." Lowenherz says, "Do try to get some rest." Lowenherz stands up Maxwell says, "Yes." Maxwell says, "I left these books we found here - although they don't seem to have much value." Maxwell says, "Couldn't find much of interest, just some story about an ancient Drachen." Giovanna lies down apprehensively on her bed, staring at the ceiling and not really sleeping. Lowenherz says, "Ah, yes, I looked at those." DiegoValdez says, "zzzzzzz" [7thsea] Eolo says, "(did you guys find anything about the monster we fought?)" Lowenherz says, "Popular trash, for the most part." Lowenherz says, "Odd our 'trainer' would have such books." [7thsea] Eolo says, "see, I told you he had bought it, not trained it." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "(nope)" Maxwell says, "I had been hoping to find something about that creature we fought -- low to the ground, long snout, and blood that burned our clothes." [7thsea] Eolo says, "or maybe I was telling you the other way around." Maxwell says, "But it's not at all organized, of course." Lowenherz says, "I'm fairly sure it's foreign." Lowenherz says, "Perhaps off an island." [Crows-Nest] (from Cadiz) Lowenherz says, "The island... of Dr. Moreau. Maxwell says, "Ah, well. Good night, sir." [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "that's that game that *other* Gamemaster is running :-)" Lowenherz says, "Good night." Maxwell goes to his own room. [Crows-Nest] Cadiz says, "So this is just a reference, then ;-)" Gamemaster asks (of Giovanna), "are you going to try not to sleep?" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "I think I try, but I'm too tired and drop off anyway" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "ok" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "after a long time staring at the ceiling" [7thsea] Cadiz asks, "Perhaps resolve?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "I can rule you succeed but that would impair your rolls next day" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "no, that's okay :)" Maxwell pauses, and looks at the others' rooms. Federico is asleep, so he next looks to see if Cadiz is up. Gamemaster says, "Ok, then, whispering to giovanna for a little bit" [7thsea] Cadiz says, "Er, I'm in Avalon ;-)_" Maxwell says, "er, never mind that." [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez says, "heh" [7thsea] Cadiz says, "Federico's here, though." DiegoValdez says, "zzzzzzz" Maxwell blows out the candle and gets into bed. [7thsea] inky says, "durf. whoops." [7thsea] Eolo says, "(er, channel)" Gamemaster blows on a bugle DiegoValdez jumps out of bed, wide-awake. Maxwell gets up and dresses. Eolo is awake and staring. Giovanna sits upright in bed, then slumps over for a moment. It takes her a few moments to gather herself enough to wash and dress. DiegoValdez dresses and trots downstairs to the backyard. Morning exercises. Eolo dresses silently, picks up his crossbow, loads and unloads, draws knives, testing each edge, replaces them, and comes downstairs. DiegoValdez practices his feint. Maxwell goes downstairs and looks for breakfast. Giovanna goes downstairs as well. [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "joins Maxwell in his breakfast-quest." [7thsea] Eolo says, "QUEST FOR TOAST" Era_Khar'Kov joins Maxwell in his breakfast-quest. [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "in search...of sausages" [7thsea] Eolo says, "YM "of anything but sausages"" Franz says, "Hallo." [7thsea] Cadiz asks, "That was a comp game last year, right?" Franz asks, "Have a nice sleep?" Eolo nods. Eolo says, "I slept." DiegoValdez comes in to breakfast from the back yard. Maxwell says, "Quite good, thank you." Maxwell stretches his back. Era_Khar'Kov asks, "Lowenherz has particularly fine featherbeds, don't you think?" Franz says, "We've got ham and some more potato pancakes this morning." DiegoValdez smiles cheerfully and looks to see what the breakfast menu is. Franz says, "I could toss something else on if there's any requests." Maxwell says, "sounds delicious" Franz says, "Well, nobody ate the potato pancakes last night..." Franz looks hurt Era_Khar'Kov asks, "How about some cheese with the potato-cakes?" DiegoValdez says, "indeed ... well, I think I may have stuffed myself on the sausages...." [7thsea] Maxwell exclaims, "Sheesh. There was cheese just yesterday!" Franz says, "Hm, I'd have to make sure with Lowenherz, we are in such short supply." Era_Khar'Kov says, "Cheese always goes well." DiegoValdez tries the potato pancakes. Lowenherz enters DiegoValdez says (to Lowenherz), "Ah. Good morning." Lowenherz says, "Good morning." Era_Khar'Kov digs into the cheese&potato cakes with sausages. DiegoValdez asks (of Lowenherz), "How goes the war?" Lowenherz says, "My commander should be here soon, and we can start discussing our plan." Maxwell sits down and takes a large helping of the pancakes and the ham. "Good morning." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Lowenherz), "We met her yesterday. Quite an impressive woman." Maxwell says (to Lowenherz), "She got in last night." [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster asks, "also, just out of curiousity, have any of you actually had potato pancakes?" [Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "Yeah. Not bad." [Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "sure" [Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "traditional jewish dish, you know ;)" [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "just wondering if any of you were visualizing this properly :-)" [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez asks, "Uh ... I think I have. Latkes?" [Crows-Nest] Rob has left the channel. [Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "assuming you don't mean pancakes made from potato meal or something" Era_Khar'Kov says (to Lowenherz), "She even spent some time training in Ussura, I understand. Excellent place for toughening up." [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "I mean what you mean" Lowenherz says, "Yes, she's an interesting sort." Eolo eats his pancakes quietly, drinking a great deal of water. [Crows-Nest] (from Cadiz) GM adds, "You meanie." Giovanna asks (of Eolo), "(in Vodacce) How are they?" Giovanna prods her pancakes with a fork. Eolo says (to Giovanna), "not sausages, at any rate" [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov asks, "Are they like hash-browns?" Giovanna says (to Eolo), "that will have to do." [Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "yes" [Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "Sort of. But not quite." DiegoValdez says, "Ussura ... must be an interesting place to visit. Perhaps one of these days." [Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "formed into more distinct cakes and somewhat crisper and oilier" [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov says, "then I think I've had them. Not bad, really." Eolo asks (of Giovanna), "sleep?" Gamemaster says, "Lowenherz whispers something to Giovanna" Giovanna tries the potato pancakes. She likes them better than she expected, but she'd never admit that. Lowenherz asks (of Giovanna), "Have you had any strange sensations since yesterday?" Giovanna says (to Lowenherz), "only a bit of a dream." [Crows-Nest] Cadiz says (to Giovanna), "Are you logging? This would be interesting to read after this is done." [Crows-Nest] Giovanna says, "er, no, actually" DiegoValdez attacks the pancakes and ham with gusto. [Crows-Nest] Giovanna says, "but anyway, he just said that aloud, so :)" Giovanna says (to Eolo), "Yes, I slept." [Crows-Nest] Lowenherz says, "stage whisper" Giovanna looks around the table. "Where is Federico?" [Crows-Nest] Cadiz says, "Can you grab the dream before it disappears from your buffer? ;-)" [Crows-Nest] Giovanna says, "okay :)" [Crows-Nest] Lowenherz quickly types a bunch of nonsense lines to foil Cadiz's plot DiegoValdez says (to Giovanna), "Probably at his morning prayers." Giovanna nods, but looks a little concerned nonetheless. DiegoValdez says (to Giovanna), "Don't worry. I'm sure we won't have some crazy Sidhe turn him into a cat, like they did to poor Brother Cadiz." Maxwell says, "Hm, I'd think Eva would be here as well." Giovanna says (to Diego), "You are a constant source of reassurance and refreshment to me, my friend." Eolo asks (of Maxwell), "was she also here for the night?" Maxwell smirks slightly, but lets Diego believe as he will. DiegoValdez smiles. DiegoValdez says (to Giovanna), "I am always at your service, m'lady." Giovanna raises her glass to Diego. It's a touching moment all around. Era_Khar'Kov chortles under her breath. [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov says, "afk" DiegoValdez thinks that it could have been worse ... Cadiz could have been turned into another salamander ... but it's probably best not to mention that and scare anyone. Eva enters DiegoValdez acknowledges Giovanna's toast graciously. Lowenherz says, "Ah, hello Eva." [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov says, "back" Era_Khar'Kov says, "Good morning, Eva." DiegoValdez says (to Eva), "Good morning, senora." Lowenherz says, "We have here...Diego, Giovanna, Era, Eolo, and, er....Federico is gone again. Hm." Lowenherz says, "In any case, to the lounge when you are finished with the meal....let's go, Eva." Lowenherz stands up and goes Eva goes as well [Crows-Nest] (from Cadiz) Lowenherz disappears. You think you hear the faint sound of chatting as he goes. Eolo finishes and takes his plate into the kitchen, then heads to the lounge. [Crows-Nest] Eolo exclaims, "yay!" Giovanna goes along. DiegoValdez says (to Franz), "My compliments." Giovanna of course has left her plate behind at the table. She's not much for clearing her own dishes. Maxwell says, "What, everyone's done already?" He shrugs. DiegoValdez finishes with breakfast and strolls along to the lounge. DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "We're anxious to see what senor Lowenherz has in mind." Gamemaster says, "Lowenherz has a large piece of paper out and he's sketching on it and Eva and Lowenherz are muttering back and forth" [Crows-Nest] (from Cadiz) Eva says, "I don't want to be the coke bottle top. I wanna be the piece of glass." Eva asks (of Maxwell), "You saw him punch Sieger in the mouth?" Maxwell finishes up, clears his dishes, and walks to the lounge. Era_Khar'Kov joins the party in the lounge. Gamemaster says, "I'm presuming everyone's already joined unless someone is stating otherwise" Maxwell says, "Well, Nickolaus, yes." [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov considers the life of a lounge singer. DiegoValdez looks down at the paper. Eva says, "Oh, right, hm. Not quite so exciting, then." Eva says, "Close enough." Gamemaster says (to Diego), "it's got a bunch of X marks and lines and stuff you don't understand" Gamemaster says (to Diego), "since you've never seen a tactical combat map before" Maxwell says, "It didn't help anything of course, but he was being difficult." [7thsea] Gamemaster asks, "erm, I'm writing nobody has army skills, right?" DiegoValdez frowns. [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov asks, "is it anything like football?" [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "yeah" [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "go figure" [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov chuckles. [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "not I ... though Eolo might know a bit." [Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "So then, Eva will pass to Leutnant Schulz." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "I was meaning like Commander and Tactics and such" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Oh, well, not I." [7thsea] Eolo says, "I knew I should have taken commander. oh well." [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster asks, "hm. if we were in Vendel we'd be playing the Vikings, but what about Eisen?" [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "we'll say the Pirates" [Crows-Nest] Cadiz says, "Redwings? (red-winged dragons, of course.)" [Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "heh" [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov says, "redwings are my favorite shoe." [Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "Raiders." [Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "the Dragons are a minor-league baseball team" Lowenherz says, "Right. What I was thinking is: Sieger still thinks we are invading Montaigne, and helping Castille." Lowenherz says, "So we've got to divert his attention with that." Lowenherz says, "Now, someone mentioned an arms shipment, and I had an idea..." Lowenherz says, "We'd have a fake arms shipment, and plan it in such a way we expect Sieger to make some sort of attack." [Crows-Nest] Cadiz says, "Wait--I thought it was invading Castille and helping Montaigne. Hence Diego's plea." [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "well, maxwell sort of didn't say the whole truth" [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez says, "Diego was misinformed." [Crows-Nest] Eolo exclaims, "what? that never happens!" [Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "There was never anything about invading Castille though." [Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "He led me into the stuff about arms trading though." Lowenherz says (to Diego), "At some point, we'll need a convincing group to pretend to ship it to...I don't suppose you are familiar..." DiegoValdez says (to Lowenherz), "Well ... Castille is just across the River from Sieger...." DiegoValdez says (to Lowenherz), "Altamira, as a matter of fact." Lowenherz says, "Yes. That's why I figure it will be an ideal way to lure Sieger." Lowenherz says, "He'll surely be enraged enough to try something." DiegoValdez asks, "If we move the 'shipment' through his territory?" Maxwell asks, "And what do we do after he attacks?" Lowenherz says, "Well, that may seem too...obvious..." Lowenherz says, "He knows we are not stupid." Lowenherz says, "But a route...that skirts his territory...close enough to appear tempting, but not so close it appears like a trap." DiegoValdez asks, "Down the River from a little further up?" Lowenherz says, "Yes, that's what I was thinking." Era_Khar'Kov asks, "How large a shipment? What size escort would it require?" Lowenherz says, "That's what I was discussing with Eva." Eolo asks, "and what is the motivation? to provoke an attack?" Lowenherz says, "Perhaps she should take it from here." Eva says (to Eolo), "To provoke an attack that we have a trap set for, yes." Eva says, "Now, Sieger is short men himself." Eva says, "We have 200, and 300 that I'll work on getting out of reserve." Eva says, "He would attack we guess with a maximum of 1,000." Eva says, "So we need to find someone who would also be willing to go along with the idea of attacking Sieger." DiegoValdez asks, "But who?" DiegoValdez asks, "Vodacce?" Lowenherz says, "Well, the good news is almost everyone hates him by now." Era_Khar'Kov asks, "Anyone close by?" Lowenherz says, "Well, I was hoping Maxwell had some suggestions." Gamemaster says (to Maxwell), "here's where you get to whip out your politics skill" [7thsea] Maxwell asks, "erm. Politics?" [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Yay" [7thsea] Maxwell says, "Knew I should've taken that at at least 1." [7thsea] Eolo laughs. [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "heh. unfortunately, diplomacy only works if you know who it is being used on" [7thsea] Gamemaster asks, "anything other skill you want to try a shot with?" Maxwell says, "Hm. Freiburg is closest, but I'm not sure Tra"gue would be interested in starting war." [7thsea] Maxwell says, "Closest I can find is History. Which probably doesn't help with recent events enough." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "alas, no" [7thsea] DiegoValdez asks, "Geography?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "nope" [7thsea] Maxwell says, "Nope, no idea where I am." [7thsea] Eolo asks, "glassblowing?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says (to Diego), "if you have geography it'll help later" [7thsea] Cadiz says (to Maxwell), "Use history to figure out what type of person would help, then Lowenherz can tell you who fits that bill." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "what Cadiz said is a possibility, but he's also not in the group :-)" Maxwell mumbles, "perhaps Po"sen, or Bismarck..." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Oo ... I knew there was a reason they like History majors in diplomatic positions...." [7thsea] Maxwell has now mentioned everything schep actually knows. [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov says, "he's been eavesdropping, 'cause he has to type while Ellric eats." [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster says, "hee" [Crows-Nest] Gamemaster asks, "Ellric is in Food Mode?" [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov says, "he's been on & off in 20 -30 minute spurts, then he sleeps, then he eats." Lowenherz says, "Hm. I expected you to be perhaps more helpful on that topic, but..." Lowenherz says, "I suggest you go to Freiburg then, and see from there." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "Use history to figure out what type of person would help, then Lowenherz can tell you who fits that bill." Lowenherz says, "Let me know when you catch any gossip that appears promising." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "hee" [7thsea] Maxwell asks, "should I try that?" Maxwell nods, somewhat embarrased. DiegoValdez says, "Surely there must be some sort of lead we could follow ..." Era_Khar'Kov knows her brothers would be glad to foil any attempt at a neighbor's treachery, but they're rather far away just now. Eolo says, "there is the monster in the woods." Maxwell asks (of Eolo), "You think it could be related?" [7thsea] Maxwell rolls 4k3: 7 3 1 8 | 18 Eolo asks, "surely it must be -- to appear out of nowhere, after ten years?" [7thsea] Maxwell says, "That's what it would be if allowed, anyway." DiegoValdez says (to Eolo), "You're suggesting we find some beast and unleash it on Sieger? I don't like it ... it reminds me too much of what the Marquis told us, of those invisible wolves." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "I'm going to allow it after you are gone" Maxwell says (to Diego), "As a lead. A clue." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "but the psychic suggestion doesn't float up to you until later :-)" Eolo says (to Diego), "it is by no means clear that Sieger is the original motivator here" DiegoValdez nods doubtfully. Eolo says (to Eolo), "the exchange of letters, the disappearance of the agent, all suspicious" Maxwell says, "I wonder where the underground hideout came from though." [7thsea] Eolo says, "er, ..Diego." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "hee" Maxwell says, "But it does appear whoever is behind this war has been preparing for quite some time, as well." Eolo says, "the best plots are built on good foundations." DiegoValdez says (to Eolo), "If I" DiegoValdez says (to Eolo), "As long as I don't end up in a cemetery plot...." Eolo grins. Lowenherz says, "In any case, we have no time to waste." Eolo says, "the best plots end with those." DiegoValdez says, "true" Eva stands up Maxwell says, "Hmm. If Sieger really is behind this," Eva says, "I need to make sure our own troops are ready." Eolo says, "we may, in any event, be able to find out more in Freiburg" Maxwell asks, "what would he make of the convoy?" Eva goes DiegoValdez bids farewell to Eva as she leaves. Maxwell asks, "Leave it alone, confused? Or worse, look for hidden troops near it?" Lowenherz says, "Ah, well, that's where some deceptive intelligence work needs to come into play." DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "salt his land again, maybe." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Maxwell), "Depends on how devious he is." Lowenherz says, "Letters seem to be convincing him fairly well so far..." Lowenherz says, "Perhaps one in code for some extra convincing quality." Lowenherz says, "Not too difficult, though..." DiegoValdez says, "hm" [Crows-Nest] Cadiz says (to Lowenh), "There's this Maquis that has a pretty simple code..." [Crows-Nest] Cadiz says, "Er, too much Voyager for me, obviously ;-)" Lowenherz says, "Perhaps the one used by Imperator Cesare during his Vodacce campaigns many years ago...I know of nobility who still use that, Sieger would be convinced and I'm sure he could break it." DiegoValdez says, "Si." Maxwell says, "Yes, well. We can arrange that later, but you were right, we should get going." DiegoValdez asks, "all of us? or are some of us better needed here?" Lowenherz asks (of Maxwell), "Well, before you go, can you draft one?" Lowenherz says, "Except...hm...we still don't know exactly the route..." Maxwell asks (of Lowenherz), "Hm, yes. To friends in Castille, I take it?" Lowenherz says, "We'll work it out later, then." Maxwell says (to Diego), "It's your choice." Giovanna has disconnected. Giovanna has connected. Maxwell says, "I believe Era wanted to see Freiburg on her own business." Eolo says, "so she did." Era_Khar'Kov says, "Yes, I need to visit someone there." Maxwell says, "And we will be returning here, barring any great surprises." DiegoValdez asks (of Eolo&Giovanna), "And you?" Giovanna looks thoughtful. Eolo says, "I could, perhaps, better spend my time here" Eolo says, "looking into the matter of the beast in the forest" Eolo asks, "unless my assistance will be required in Freiburg?" [7thsea] DiegoValdez asks, "Are we looking at another split?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "it'll be here" You whisper "I was thinking of attempting to scout that out in bird-form. Might that be helpful?" to Eolo. Giovanna says, "I don't know what useful thing I could do there, since I don't speak the language. But..." [7thsea] Eolo says, "I don't know. if ghogg doesn't want to deal, I'm happy to go along" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "just it'll be confusing" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "I did say this could happen" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "okay" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "I'm thinking Giovanna wouldn't want to go" Eolo whispers, "quite possibly. or maybe some kind of tracking animal to find the guy by smell?" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "but yeah, I would if that's where the plot heads" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "stuff'll happen" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "don't worry" You whisper "my most 'tracking' animals are mouse (doable) and wolf (can't do it yet)." to Eolo. Eolo whispers, "hrm hrm" Gamemaster says, "also, I need to get off. grr. I wanted to get to some action before we quit, but I guess we'll just have planning this time" Eolo whispers, "well, we should definitely keep it in mind" Gamemaster asks, "But to confirm: Eolo and Giovanna stay, others go?" Maxwell asks, "Federico?" [7thsea] Giovanna says, "yeah" [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov says, "sounds good." Eolo says, "Federico will probably want to stay here, I would imagine" (Current channel set to 7thsea) Truly, the wise monkey knows when to speak and when to be silent. [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Looks like it." [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "sounds good." [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "also, heh. Federico has politics" [7thsea] Eolo says, "rgh" [7thsea] Eolo asks, "is he just not making any of these fridays? or have we had bad luck?" [7thsea] Gamemaster says, "but he's off praying, so that's not going to help you in this conversation :-)" Gamemaster asks, "ok,a nything else before I go?" Eolo says, "nothing that can't wait." Era_Khar'Kov says, "nope." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "heh" Gamemaster says, "Ok" Gamemaster has disconnected. Gamemaster exits stage left. Lowenherz has disconnected. Lowenherz steps behind the curtain. Eva has disconnected. Eva steps behind the curtain. Eolo says, "hmm" Eolo says (to Maxwell), "I must say, I don't find Lowenherz's plan entirely convincing if Sieger is indeed not behind this" Eolo says, "and, as you say, that den in the woods would take some time to construct" Maxwell says, "Ah, but unless we could find some convincing proof for him, we have little choice but war." Era_Khar'Kov says, "I think asking the new-found friends of one of your agent's assistance a bit suspicious. He trusted us too soon." DiegoValdez says, "Perhaps it's this Nickolaus trying to instigate war." Eolo says, "possible" Eolo says, "but risky for him, I think" Maxwell says, "And as long as it's to be battle, we might as well use the confusion to our advantage." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "Hee. But his arcana is "Trusting"....." DiegoValdez asks, "Our advantage?" DiegoValdez asks, "How do you mean?" Maxwell says, "He really has nothing to hide from you. And he didn't exactly ask your assistance, he's just letting you listen in on my recommendation." [7thsea] Era_Khar'Kov says, "Uh-huh. Nobles are so known for their being trusting. :-)" Maxwell says (to Diego), "That would be the aim of the convoy and trap." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Maxwell), "He's taking it entirely at your word that we're not plants or agents of the enemy." DiegoValdez says, "Perhaps it might be better to go and speak to Sieger directly." Eolo says, "mm" Eolo says, "that's not as bad an idea as it might be" Maxwell says (to Diego), "I don't think he'll be convinced by what we can show him." Eolo says, "although I am told he is mad" Era_Khar'Kov asks, "Are you high enough in Loew's chain of command that this isn't as suprising as I think it is?" Eolo says, "which might make him less susceptible to logical reasoning" DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "At any rate, we'd be able to find out if he is in fact behind this." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Diego), "Anyone who sows their fields with salt is NOT reasonable." Eolo asks (of Diego), "how?" Maxwell says (to Era), "And if you were spies? You report merely that we're sticking entirely with our story." DiegoValdez says (to Eolo), "Well, we'll be there to see exactly what he's doing." Eolo asks (of Diego), "whether or not he is behind it, surely he will claim that he has been cheated and his promise broken?" Era_Khar'Kov says (to Maxwell), "I don't understand." Maxwell says (to Diego), "Actually, I don't consider that likely enough to spend time making sure." DiegoValdez says (to Era), "As for the salt, well, it did serve its purpose ... to make the land undesirable to Castille." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Diego), "The land is now undesirable (worthless) to everyone, for years. Armies do that to the enemy, not your own lands." Maxwell says, "Well, the promise isn't broken, although I doubt he'd see it that way." Eolo asks, "really? what was the promise?" Maxwell says (to Eolo), "A 'fraction of any captured Montaigne land'." Maxwell grins. Eolo says, "hmm" Eolo says, "that may be useful later." Eolo says, "probably not enough on its own" Eolo says, "but he might be willing to take it as a face-saving exit" Eolo says, "if Lowenherz shows his teeth" DiegoValdez says (to Era), "It wouldn't have been his own lands if he hadn't salted them, anyway ..." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Eolo), "that might be useful." Maxwell says (to Eolo), "Good point." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Diego), "True." The Seventh Sea This is it! The mythical Seventh Sea! Arr, there'll be plunderin' tonight! You can see: Shh! sign, dartboard, pile of 10-sided dice, sorte deck, Cast of Characters Players: DiegoValdez, Eolo, Giovanna, Maxwell, Cadiz Visible Exits: None DiegoValdez asks, "So. What are we looking for?" Era_Khar'Kov exclaims, "Booty!" Eolo says, "evidence of who is behind it" Eolo says, "and forces to defeat them" DiegoValdez nods. Maxwell says, "If it comes to executing the trap, it will probably be too late to produce evidence." DiegoValdez asks (of Eolo&Giovanna), "Oh ... what about the Fate Witches? Wouldn't they be able to see something?" Giovanna says (to DiegoValdez), "Well, hm. Perhaps." Maxwell stares at that remark. DiegoValdez asks (of Giovanna), "I don't suppose you know any?" Era_Khar'Kov says, "Normally, I'd be more interested in fighting than intrigue, but Eva mentioned pitting a thousand forces against him, and regardless of the outcome, that is too much death." Giovanna says (to Diego), "I could ask around." DiegoValdez says (to Giovanna), "Thank you. Forewarned is forearmed, I always say." Maxwell says (to Era), "Sieger has the thousand. We currently have only five hundred." DiegoValdez says (to Era), "Si ... especially over what appears to be a trifling bit of intrigue...." Maxwell asks (of Diego), "You would put your generous trust even in sorcery?" Era_Khar'Kov says (to Maxwell), "Eva mentioned pulling an additional 500 from reserves." Maxwell says (to Era), "Hm, no, the 500 counted the reserves. Only 200 are active now." Eolo says, "ah" DiegoValdez asks (of Maxwell), "Well ... what have we to lose?" Eolo says, "of course, presumably he would not devote his whole force to this attack" Maxwell says (to Diego), "Hm, I thought you were more religious than that." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Max), "You're right. That's still a lot of death to deal, though." DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "I understand that the Church is very strong in Vodacce. If the Witches were so evil, I'm sure the Inquisition would have done something about it by now." Ender disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again. Eolo says, "in vodacce, the inquisition knows what is best for them." DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "Besides, it's not as if *I* were personally using sorcery ... merely questioning someone who did." Maxwell says (to Era), "Yes. I'll be looking for chances to avoid it." Era_Khar'Kov says, "If we go the route of intrigue, Giovanna would be useful to have around." DiegoValdez asks (of Era), "?" [Crows-Nest] Cadiz asks, "Hey, I have a question. Since Sieger is, like, a major character in 7th Sea and all, is this a 'sanctioned' campaign?" Maxwell says, "Amazing. He can trust the Inquisition and witches, at once." [Crows-Nest] Cadiz says, "Actually, ditto with the Avalon one." [Crows-Nest] Ender asks, "Sanctioned?" Era_Khar'Kov asks (of Diego), "yes?" DiegoValdez has never been betrayed by either, so.... DiegoValdez asks (of Era), "You think Giovanna should come with us to Freiburg?" DiegoValdez asks (of Giovanna), "Would you wish to?" [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov says, "There are campaigns which affect the world of 7th Sea for everyone, not just a single campaign." [Crows-Nest] Ender says, "Oh, right. I read about that." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Diego), "Yes." Giovanna looks dubious. "It might be useful, I suppose, but at the same time -- there are things here I am concerned about." katre pages: wow, you're here? anyway, enjoy the game, but wanted to say Congrats! Era_Khar'Kov says (to Giovanna), "Your skills would be quite useful. Mine are more adapted to less devious routes." Eolo says, "further study in the library, perhaps." Giovanna says, "hmm" Maxwell says, "I don't see much intrigue in Freiburg. That would come later." DiegoValdez says, "I think Sieger also shares a bit of border with Vodacce ... it might be useful to look there." Giovanna says, "I suppose I might be persuaded, but..." Eolo says, "but, presumably, those who go to Freiburg will be returning here." You paged katre: thanks! Eolo glances at Giovanna. "To Vodacce?" Giovanna says, "Going to some strange town where people speak a foreign language" Giovanna says, "...I don't know." Giovanna says (to Eolo), "Not, I think, back to Vodacce." Era_Khar'Kov says (to Giovanna), "We'll be coming back." Ender arrives at home. [7thsea] Maxwell says, "buh, that's so weird." [7thsea] DiegoValdez asks, "?" [7thsea] Maxwell says, "that Ender has @linked himself to here." [7thsea] DiegoValdez says, "heh" DiegoValdez says, "Well, let us see what we can learn." DiegoValdez says (to Eolo), "It might be a good idea to go back and retrieve that creature's body..." Eolo says, "it couldn't hurt." Maxwell says, "That might be necessary." [Crows-Nest] katre says, "okay, I need help" Maxwell says, "er, not be, that is." [Crows-Nest] katre says, "I see ' Allora has connected to ifMUD.'" [Crows-Nest] katre says, "and my first thought is 'Allora? Sounds Castillian'" Maxwell says, "But checking for signs that anyone has been back might prove interesting." [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez says, "Heh. You *definitely* need help." [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez says, "Especially since it's Vodacce." [Crows-Nest] katre says, "hee hee" Era_Khar'Kov says, "I was thinking of exploring the area from a birds-eye view." DiegoValdez says (to Maxwell), "Yes." [Crows-Nest] Cadiz exclaims, "Ha!" Maxwell says, "frowns." [7thsea] Maxwell says, "es wird ja spa"ter und spa"ter..." DiegoValdez says (to Era), "How do you inte ... oh." [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov asks, "I should go. Let me know next week how the plans turn out, okay?" [Crows-Nest] Era_Khar'Kov exclaims, "See ya!" [Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "wave" Eolo says, "well" Eolo says, "I suppose we can discuss this some later" [Crows-Nest] DiegoValdez says, "Arr"
