GM nods.

GM just woke up, so, er, she's still getting herself together.

Pete wonders if Rebecca has written a train-of-thought on what happens when the Hollyhock God dreams.

GM looks wry. "I have quite vivid dreams that I usually record; I'm not sure she could outdo those."

[nobilis] Duchess asks, "are we playing?"

[nobilis] Pete says, "We're assembling."

[nobilis] Nathan says, "mmhmm"

[nobilis] Duchess says, "ok"

Thalia arrives, looking for booty.

[nobilis] GM says, "Yay Thalia"

[nobilis] Thalia says, "you know, after reading katre's Blue Rose, Red Rose books, I keep thinking Flute is the deity from those boks"

[nobilis] Thalia says, "er books"

[nobilis] GM says, "Yeah, the similarity in name occurred to me..."

Dave arrives, looking for booty.

Dave disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again.

[nobilis] GM asks, "Hmm. So, we had Thalia and Ferris in one scene, Monkey in another, Pete, Dara, X, Jim in another, Birralee and Nathan not present in any?"

[nobilis] Thalia says, "right"

[nobilis] Thalia says, "at least, about thalia and ferris and monkey"

[nobilis] Pete says, "So we just need Monkey, and we'll have all four scenes going with only one person in each."

[nobilis] Thalia says, "is ferris playing today? i definitely am in the "what do i do now?" point"

[nobilis] GM says, "I don't know."

[nobilis] GM says, "My suggestion is that you two head back to the Chancel and hook up with Nathan, honestly."

[nobilis] Nathan says, "hmm, I don't know if Rob said he was going to show"

[nobilis] Pete reads up on what the questers were doing last week.

[nobilis] Dara un-idles.

[nobilis] Pete says, "Hey, the nerd's on the same quest we were. Sort of. Maybe."

[nobilis] Nathan says, "only with more monkeys"

[nobilis] GM beams at Pete.

GM says, "The images of the opening doors and windows in the tiny glittering crystals in the room of Mitrasama chime gently, forming a distinct pattern-- a tune even as a backdrop for the weaving of the six-armed crystal woman."

Pete says, "Hi."

GM says, "Oh, and the image of the corner opening to let Dara through flashes into one crystal (Pete notices this), and then the crystal shatters, in a tiny little poof-crackle. The entity weaving looks up."

[interludes] Thalia says (to ferris), "hey, up on my back. we will take this mushroom and go back to the chancel. i don't think we are finding Granola this way. he is probably caught up with that boy by now"

(From Flute) The voice of Mitrasama seems to come from all around, a whispering. "Are you here to free me?"

[interludes] Thalia walks back to the tree that has the blaze ferris made that indicates it's this tree back to the chancel

Pete says, "I'm not sure. We can try if you'd like, though."

[interludes] GM says, "It seems to be a reliable, if quirky entrance, so soon you're back in your own forest."

[nobilis] Dara back again.

[nobilis] GM gives Dara a chance to catch up.

Dara asks, "We're looking for some people who disappeared. Can you help?"

[interludes] Thalia listens to intently to the sounds of the forest as they make their way back to finding any of the others

[nobilis] Rob says, "oh whoops"

Ferris arrives, looking for booty.

(From GM) The crystal woman sighs. It's like the wind across wineglasses. "They are not here. There is only me here."

[nobilis] Thalia says (to ferris), "we just left the forest and are back in the chancel"

GM says, "Flute is sitting on the quiet Jim's head, watching."

Pete asks, "If we help free you, can you help us find them?"

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "can we mental telepathy thoughts to each other, or do we write notes still?"

[nobilis] Nathan says, "I think we write notes still"

[nobilis] GM says, "between chancels, note-writing or cellphones. within chancel-matess, with realm 2 or higher, telepathy"

[nobilis] Thalia looks up her stats

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "also yay. this means my cell phone works again?"

Dara says, "That's why we came looking for you, actually."

[nobilis] GM says, "Renaissance, the city-chancel landlord, seems to be doing interface work between the real world cell-lines and the chancel. It means he listens in on on your phone calls and occasionally offers commentary, and your phone lives in mortal shock and awe but hey."

[nobilis] Pete finishes catching up on the other group.

[interludes] Thalia says (to ferris), "we should try to and nathan and others since we lost track of Granola and that boy"

[interludes] Thalia says, "er find"

[interludes] Thalia tears off a piece of paper and writes, "Nathan & Co. - Ferris and I are back in the chancel forest. Where are you guys at?" and sends it off

[nobilis] Dara says, "[Pete asked a question, in case you missed it]"

Nathan, having finished lunch and said thanks and goodbye to Graph, chats with chancel residents about setting up a university

Mitrasama stands up, laying aside her shuttle and threads. She's not wearing anything, though she looks more like a mobile crystal carving than any living thing. One pair of hands crosses her chest, hugging her shoulders, while another pair clutches her head. The third pair turns up in a gesture of helplessness. "I will help you if I can."

Dara asks, "Thanks! Do we have to do anything in particular to free you? Or did the hole in the wall do it?"

Thalia comes across Nathan chatting it up while wandering

[interludes] * GM has added Nathan to the channel.

Thalia says, "timing and lac :)"

[interludes] Thalia comes across Nathan chatting it up while wandering

[interludes] Nathan says, ""..so I think we could have a really strong aerospace department if we offer-- oh, hello, Thalia""

[interludes] Thalia asks (of nathan), "aerospace? building airplanes now?"

[interludes] Thalia says, "ferris and i were with granola and then got separated in the forest, so we came back"

[interludes] Nathan says, "separated in the forest? I guess I can't blame you, I was never any good at boy scouting myself"

[interludes] Thalia says, "oh hey, i brought back a mushroom. he insisted on coming back."

[interludes] Thalia says (to mushroom), "here is one of my friends. be nice to him"

[interludes] Nathan asks, "but yes, I've been thinking that even if I don't really know what's going on, I've got powers now to set -- a mushroom?"

[interludes] Nathan blinks at it

(From Mitrasama) The pair of hands hugging her shoulders drifts down to hug her hips. "I-- I do not know." Flute, on Jim's head, sits up, clutching some of Jim's hair in both her fists. "I don't know about freeing you, miss, but everybody outside knows that you see all the doors and gateways in the city opening."

Pete . o O ( Everybody? )

[interludes] GM says, "There's a mushroom tangled in Thalia's tail. "She's going to eat me, Mr. It'll be great. Then I'll be a part of her, and she'll be a part of me!""

[nobilis] Nathan says (to Pete), "everybody who's anybody, anyway"

[interludes] Thalia plucks the mushroom out of her tail and pops it in a pocket in her knapsack

[interludes] Nathan says, "whoah, hippie mushroom"

[interludes] Thalia says (to nathan), "yeah, it was an odd forest"

[interludes] Nathan says, "I guess so"

Dara says, "Hmm. Let me try something."

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Flute says, "Hey, I can't be responsible if you don't read the supernatural gossip rags!""

[interludes] Thalia asks, "know where the others are?"

Dara asks (of Mitra), "What's your name?"

[interludes] Nathan says (to chancel resident), "anyway, you go ahead and look into who in the chancel might be qualified to teach, and I'll see about the building"

[interludes] Thalia says, "i don't do that "sensing bad things happening all around me" thing well. That's ferris' job"

[interludes] Nathan says, "hmm, no, I guess everyone wandered off after I got tied up with Graph"

[interludes] Nathan says, "you'd be surprised how much he knows about graph theory"

[interludes] Nathan says, "ok, probably you wouldn't be surprised"

[interludes] Nathan asks, "why did you guys go into the forest, anyway?"

[Crows-Nest] Pete says, "I bet Graph can get us a discount dubscription."

[interludes] Thalia says (to nathan), "i have had only high school math so far. i have no idea what graph theory *is*"

[Crows-Nest] Pete says, "Sub, even."

[interludes] Thalia says (to nathan), "ferris sensed a boy in the forest on a quest"

[interludes] Thalia says, "so we went to intercept him"

[interludes] Thalia says, "but he didn't really listen or was receptive to us"

[interludes] Nathan says, "to intercept him? I thought you were supposed to, I dunno, help out people on quests"

Pete asks, "So if we tell you about someone who's missing, can you tell us the last time you saw them?"

[Crows-Nest] Thalia asks, "hey ferris. you sleeping?"

Mitrasama spreads a second pair of hands. "My father called me Mitrasama. If you ask me about an entrance or an exit I can tell you about it."

Dara borrows a piece of Paper, and writes 'To Mitrasama' on the top, then waits for the standard headers to be filled out.

Dara asks, "Anywhere, or just Chicago?"

GM says, "No dice."

Dara says, "Oh, well, worth a shot."

Mitrasama asks, "Just the city above. Is that what it's called now?"

[interludes] Thalia says (to nathan), "he seemed more confused than anything. he said a goddess was sending him on a quest to find the lost"

Dara nods.

[interludes] Thalia says, "of course, granola's belligerance and sugar-rush didn't help the poor guy any in trusting us"

Mitrasama says, "It was my father's gift to me when my parents imprisoned me here. So I would not be lonely."

Dara asks, "Why did they imprison you?"

[interludes] Nathan asks, "to find the lost what?"

Dara asks, "And who were they?"

[interludes] Thalia says, "lost people i guess"

Dara asks (of Flute), "Do you know?"

[interludes] Thalia says, "he kept talking about the "Great Change""

[interludes] Thalia says, "and he didn't really now who told him to go on this quest - kept calling her a goddess"

[interludes] Thalia says, "but no name or anything. and he wasn't a noble, either. just a boy"

[interludes] Nathan says, "well, that could be Jehiela"

[interludes] Nathan says, "or it could be somebody else"

[interludes] Thalia says, "ferris and i were basically of the opinion that he was being led astray by someone else, since he was woefully unprepared"

[interludes] Thalia says, "but he wasn't really receptive to us, so we decided to follow him, and that's how we got separated"

[interludes] Nathan asks, "Monkey went on ahead of you guys?"

[interludes] Thalia says, "he didn't know what to look for, or how he will know what he found"

Mitrasama sits down on her bench again, all three pairs of arms closing around her. "Their love was a forbidden one. She was the loveliest creature ever born in the world of men, exalted to demigodhood, beloved by gods. He was a doorman in the house of the gods."

[interludes] Thalia says, "(other than graph theory?)"

[interludes] Nathan asks, "what do you mean, graph theory's not interesting?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "but anyway, he gave me the idea to look into setting up a chancel university"

Pete asks, "What's forbidden about that?"

[interludes] Thalia says (to nathan), "you should see my report card...actually maybe not. your heart won't be able to take it"

[interludes] Nathan says, "I think we could really do a lot for the advancement of space flight with a few leaps in technology"

[interludes] Thalia asks (of nathan), "to do what?"

[interludes] Thalia says, "ah"

Dara asks, "You were an embarrasment, or your existence threatened their lives?"

[Crows-Nest] Thalia asks, "i keep wanting to call our people mages and hit their clown noses. i know the city has scientists. what does the rural one have?"

[Crows-Nest] Nathan says, "weird spirits and farmers"

Mitrasama says, "They loved me, and so I was a threat that could undo them."

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "it also has wizards"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "but they're still getting organized and you guys haven't met them yet."

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "You have high magic and alchemy, after all"

Dara asks, "Is that still true?"

[nobilis] Pete says, "Graph never did tell us about the laws, did he."

[nobilis] Pete says, "Said he'd mail them to us later, I think."

[interludes] Thalia asks, "so what do we do now? start working on your university while we wait for new developments?"

Mitrasama rises to her feet and begins to pace restlessly around the six-sided room, looking at the crystals. There's a gentle impression in the stone floor where she's made this circuit many many many times before. "I do not know. They used to visit me, but they have not come in a long time. A wizard spoke to me through a door once and told me I would be rescued one day."

[interludes] Nathan says, "that was my plan"

[interludes] Nathan says, "I think I'll be doing some investigating outside, too"

[nobilis] GM says, "Yeah. Whee Code Fidelitus. They'll probably show up nowish. But back at the chancel, addressed to Nathan."

Pete asks, "What were your parents' names?"

[nobilis] GM asks, "Flutter flutter. Does Nathan have a book handy, or should I type them in?"

Pete says, "If they're demigods, maybe they're registered for magic mail."

[nobilis] Nathan says, "I've got a book handy"

Dara says, "Well, it seems to me that it's time for you to choose. You can choose to stay here, in case coming out might endanger your parents, or you can choose to come away with us, and hope for the best. Either way, if you want more information before making your choice, we can try to find out more for you first."

Dara says (to Pete), "Good idea."

Dara appends "'s mother" to the paper.

Mitrasama looks over her shoulder. "My mother's name was Helen. My father's name was Tennut."

Dara appends ", Helen"

[interludes] Nathan says, "whoah, hey, look at this"

[interludes] Nathan plucks paper out of the air.

[interludes] Nathan says, "ah, it's from Graph"

Dara asks, "Not Helen of Troy, perhaps?"

[Crows-Nest] * jnc has joined the channel.

Mitrasama says, "Mmm... I was born in Troy, but they imprisoned me under another city. So long ago... What is this paper you write upon?" She steps across the floor, her bare feet clinking."

[interludes] Thalia asks, "what does he have to say?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "hmm, "Laws of the Nobilis," it says"

[interludes] Thalia asks, "we got laws?"

Pete gives Mitra some paper.

[interludes] Thalia says, "i thought we were gods"

Dara explains about the paper, and watches for the header to be filled out.

Pete asks, "There was a city here back then?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "I remember Graph had said this Lord Entropy guy was like a god cop"

[interludes] Nathan says, "I dunno what he does if you break his laws -- or, rather, I guess he sends a guy who leaves ash behind when he walks, since that's who the guy said he was from"

[interludes] Nathan says, "hunh, weird"

[interludes] Nathan says, ""Thou shalt not love another"? "Thou shall harm none who has done no harm?" That one's better, anyway"

[interludes] Nathan says, ""Treat no beast as your lord"? I guess that rules out that singing bass thing from late-night tv"

[interludes] Nathan says, ""Protect no power from the justice of the court"? That seems fair enough I guess, if they're really guilty"

Mitrasama brushes her fingers across the paper. "So strange." The header addresses itself to Helen, Viscountess of Weavers, Realm's Heart.

[interludes] Nathan says, "hmm"

Dara says, "Oho."

[interludes] Nathan says, "there's some other explanation but those seem to be the main ones"

Dara asks, "Well, it looks like your mother's still around. Would you like to ask her something?"

Mitrasama says, "Where has she been all these years? Is it time, yet, for me to be free? I've woven the same tapestry so many times. She would be proud."

[interludes] Thalia asks, "imperator any war, or is there "the" war?"

Pete says (to Dara), "You'd best write it; I don't think Helen can reply directly to Mitrasama."

Dara writes, "There is a woman here who knows of doors who wishes to know: Where have you been? Can she now be freed? She also wants you to know of the tapestry she has woven.

Dara breaks off. "Tapestry? Can I see it?

[interludes] GM says, "(I am reading and watching but you two seem to have it under control for now.)"

[interludes] Nathan says, "Graph said there was this big war going on -- that guy who you caught in a cage for a while was on the other side"

[interludes] Nathan says, "he said they wanted to destroy everything that is"

[interludes] Thalia says, "hmm. i remember this vaguely"

[interludes] Nathan says, "which seems pretty crazy to me, but hey, now that I have magic powers I can't really label anything too ridiculous"

[interludes] Thalia asks, "so he was on the destroying sie, but didn't he also say he was serving lord entropy?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "anyway, Graph said the laws weren't too big a deal as long as you don't blatantly go against them"

[interludes] Nathan says, "no, there were two guys, remember"

[interludes] Nathan says, "one was the one who left ash behind"

[interludes] Nathan says, "he said he worked for Lord Entropy and he was angry about this place being built"

[interludes] Thalia says, "oh right"

[nobilis] Dara says, "Er, unless I missed it in the room description."

[interludes] Nathan says, "Graph said I should try talking to this other guy, so I sent some mail to, um, Darkness"

[interludes] Nathan says, "but then the other guy was in the cage and people said he ripped the chancel open"

[interludes] Thalia asks, "isn't that. erm. dangerous?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "frankly, they both seem like bad guys to me"

[nobilis] Pete says, "She's probably unwoven it a thousand times."

[interludes] Thalia says, "(sending mail to the darkness)"

[interludes] Nathan says, "what, sending mail to Darkness? yeah, probably"

[nobilis] Pete says, "Unless she has infinite thread."

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says (to pete), "she should've been named penelope"

[interludes] Nathan says, "but I think we're in pretty dangerous waters regardless"

Mitrasama gestures at the loom. The weaving there is comprised of threads so fine and worn that they seem to be essence more than substance: the color blue and violet, the taste of hope, and infinity. For Pete, it reflects the smile of his fiancee; for Dara, it reflects her daughter's eyes, and something lost within them.

Dara swallows, and tears spring to her face.

Dara says, "It's... it's beautiful."

[interludes] GM says, "I Will do Darkness when you guys are doneish talking about stuff; though it seems too timely for her to show up Right This Minute."

[interludes] Thalia says, "well, why don't you tell us about your plans for the university while we wait for more mail"

[Crows-Nest] Nathan says (to Thalia), "good idea -- that reminds me I wanted to go talk to somebody about getting some buildings for it"

[Crows-Nest] Nathan says, "er"

[interludes] Thalia grabs a passing chancel farmer. "Hey do you now of any magic people? wizards? witches? warlocks? around here?"

[interludes] GM says, "Your contact for the university is named Justin Banks, by the way."

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says, "i wanna marry Justin Banks!"

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says, "(of course, that probably went right over nathan's head)"

[interludes] Nathan says, "(hmm, I was figuring we were on the city side now, but maybe not)"

[interludes] GM laughs. "Uh, young Leandro said something about some magicking fellows over on the other side of the park!" Er, I'm laughing. He's cowering.

[interludes] Thalia says, "(hm. good point. maybe on the border? one foot in each?)"

[interludes] Nathan says, "(heh)"

[interludes] Nathan says (to Thalia), "right, well, let's go over there"

[nobilis] Dara says, "afk ellric a sec. Oops."

[interludes] Nathan says, "and if they can't help out I'll give Renaissance a call"

[interludes] Nathan says, "actually, perhaps I'll do that anyway"

(From GM) The piece of paper folds up, begins to flutter out of the room, and then a line of red appears at its edge, and burns through it. Ash drops to the ground.

[interludes] Thalia hands nathan a cell phone

[interludes] Thalia says, "it doesn't always work, but give it a shot"

[interludes] Nathan turns it on and stares at it

Pete says, "Ack."

[interludes] Nathan asks (of cell phone), "er, Renaissance? can you hear me?"

[interludes] Thalia starts walking while keeping an eye on Nathan's activities with the phone

[nobilis] Pete asks, "Where does it try to leave by? The hole in the corner?"

[interludes] GM says, ""Yes, Nathan."

[nobilis] GM says, "It doesn't even make it that far (and often they'll kind of vanish mid-flutter in their journey and reappear near their target)."

[nobilis] Pete asks, "Is it two papers or one paper of ash?"

[interludes] Nathan asks, "ah, excellent -- listen, I was thinking about trying to set up a university here on this side of the chancel -- are there some buildings we could claim for that? or a plot of land to build on?"

[nobilis] GM says, "the entire thing burned up."

Pete says, "Let me try that from outside."

Pete takes two pieces of paper out through the hole in the wall and tries to send the same emssage.

[interludes] GM says, "There's a section of downtown that could use some fixing up. I'm not entirely sure what a university needs, though."

(From GM) The exact same thing happens.

[interludes] Thalia says (to nathan), "couple buildings, a place to eat"

[interludes] Thalia says, "grass is optional"

[interludes] Nathan says, "well, to start with we'll just need some buildings, and -- oh, yeah, we might want some dorms"

Pete says, "That's mysterious."

[interludes] Nathan says, "I'm talking to Justin Banks about the staff, and I'll find somebody else to deal with the whiteboards and stuff"

[interludes] Nathan says, "hrm, I don't know any textbook publishers, but I guess maybe I'll take a trip outside for that one"

Pete asks (of Mitrasama), "Well, would you like to try to come back with us, and we can try to figure this out back at our place?"

[interludes] Thalia looks around the rural chancel. Hm. any pointy hats? wands?

Pete asks, "Or do you want to wait here while we go try to figure out what's up, and whether or not it's safe for you to come out?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "Thanks, Renaissance -- I'll be in touch if anything else comes up"

[interludes] Nathan hands the phone back to Thalia

[interludes] Nathan says (to Thalia), "yeah, let's cross the park and find some wizards"

(From GM) Flute tugs on Jim's hair more. "What about my Wendy? And all the other vanished people????"

[interludes] Nathan says, "if Pete were around I guess we could talk to him about construction"

[interludes] Thalia pops the phone back in her knapsack, removes a granola bar, all the while ignoring the mushroom in the bag

Pete asks (of Flute), "What sort of help were you planning on asking Mitrasama for?"

[interludes] Thalia says (to nathan), "want one? (granola bar)"

[interludes] Nathan asks, "*are* you going to eat that mushroom?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "yes, please"

[interludes] GM says, "You're getting very very very very hungry," chants the mushroom."

[interludes] Nathan says, "I keep eating lunches, but I'm still hungry, it's weird"

[interludes] Thalia says (to nathan), "i am not sure. it's the first time i have seen food that wants to be eaten"

[Crows-Nest] GM exclaims, "I feel vaguely guilty about abusing Jim this way, but it's fun!"

[Crows-Nest] Nathan says, "hee hee"

[Crows-Nest] Pete says, "It serves him right for idling through the session."

(From GM) Flutter flutter flutter. Pete gets a message that bumps him in the ear as he goes back into the six-roomed chamber: Hey, when you have a moment, could you look me up? [interludes] Thalia starts asking random farmers. "Hi. know any wizards?"

Mitrasama looks from the fairy to Nathan and Dara. "I have see the invisible gateway, yes. It opens in the city and ghosts come through from a parasite world."

Pete scribbles on the back while Flute's talking to Mitrasama. "Nathan - Sure. I'm in the process of setting something up, and it should be off the ground in a few days. As soon as I have some people, I'll put them in touch with your people."

Pete asks, "Can you tell or show us where it is?"

[interludes] Nathan has a reply fall into his hand.

[interludes] Nathan says, ""Ah, great, Pete says he'll have something doing in a couple days.""

[interludes] Thalia says, "yay"

[interludes] Thalia says, "the wizards can do the whiteboard stuff, i guess"

[interludes] Thalia says, "it will be the first university built without costing us a cent"

[interludes] Nathan says, "it'll take a while for Justin to arrange staff anyway"

[interludes] Nathan says, "hey, good idea"

[nobilis] Pete says, "If this 'gateway' turns out to be the edge of our chancel..."

[interludes] GM says, "A farmer feeding some chickens says, "Er, there's some building that sprung up just yesterday over that hill there, but it's mostly empty." He pauses. "Was I a farmer a few days ago? I thought I had a dream I was... an accountant?""

[interludes] Nathan says, "getting back to the land, eh? good, good"

[interludes] Thalia asks (of farmer), "perhaps you were a farmer's accountant?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "but if you'd rather be an accountant, I may have a job for you in a bit"

[interludes] Thalia whispers, "You are going to teach accounting too?"

[interludes] Nathan says (to farmer), "talk to Justin Banks if you're interested -- here's his contact info"

[interludes] Nathan says (to Thalia), "well, universities always need accountants; I'm not sure if we're going to charge tuition but there's always something that has to be paid for"

[interludes] Thalia says, "true"

Mitrasama turns and selects five crystals from the wall. "Take these. When you are near one of the gateways opening, a crystal will reflect it and shatter as it approaches closer." She explains, "It is a property of the crystals, though I do not understand why."

[interludes] Thalia says, "let's check out the magic building on the hill"

[interludes] Nathan says, "yeah, good idea"

Pete says, "Thank you."

[interludes] GM says, "There's a large structure on the other side of the hill, with a round mushroom-topped building on the hilltop itself; it vaguely resembles an observatory. There's a tower at the base of the hill, and a building with a sandy roof in a u-shape."

[nobilis] Dara says, "[back]"

[interludes] Nathan says, "observatory, eh? interesting"

Pete asks, "So, would you like us to try to rescue you now, or after we've tried to contact your parents?"

[interludes] GM says, "There's an old man wandering around in the courtyard, poking at windows."

[interludes] Nathan says (to old man), "hello there"

Mitrasama hugs herself again. "I don't know if you are the rescuer the wizard foretold, but I am so tired of being trapped in here."

Pete says, "Come on, then. Let's see if this hole works."

[interludes] GM says, "He has a long beard, and he seems to be dressed in a nightgown. He even has a sleeping cap. "Where is my staff? Where? They should be here, shouldn't they? How can I teach alchemy and magic without a teaching staff?""

[interludes] Thalia says, "hey, Merlin"

[Crows-Nest] Nathan says, "ha ha ha"

[interludes] Thalia nudges Nathan. "did you hear that?"

Mitrasama brushes her fingers across her loom, and then hesitantly steps towards the hole. Flute darts back to Jim, perches on his head, and urges him out of the room, hiding her face.

[interludes] Thalia says, ""Um, excuse me?""

[interludes] Thalia asks (of merlin), "do you have a moment?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "hunh"

[interludes] Nathan says, "well, the more universities the better, I guess"

[interludes] Thalia asks (of nathan), "the rural campus and the urban campus, one univeristy?"

[interludes] Nathan says, "they'll be to play, I dunno, touch-football matches"

[interludes] Nathan says, "hmm, that'd be a possibility"

[interludes] Nathan says, "u chancel and chancel state"

Pete offers his hand to Mitra, to help lead her through, if she's nervous.

[interludes] Thalia says, "aeronatics engineering at u chancel, agriculture at chancel state."

Dara follows.

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says (to nathan), "yeah, that will go over well"

[Crows-Nest] Nathan says, "well, we'd have to call it 'Thaumaturgical Studies' or something"

[Crows-Nest] Pete asks, "'Modern Thaumatology'?"

[Crows-Nest] Pete says, "Timing."

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says, "hee"

[nobilis] GM says, "phone, afk"

[interludes] GM pulls himself up. "I am not Merlin. I am Asagiri, and I shall hold the seat of Alchemical Memory here... just as soon as everybody else turns up. The Iron Chimera has offered me tenure."

[Crows-Nest] Thalia asks, "has this school been around for a long time?"

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says, "ilac"

Mitrasama takes Pete's hand; her skin is cool and smooth. Then she steps over the threshhold. Every crystal save the five she handed to Pete shatters in that instant, the chiming tune rising in a crescendo before falling silent.

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "hey, is this the crystals related to shattered hope the lot of you were talking about?"

[interludes] Nathan asks, "Alchemical .. Memory?"

[nobilis] Pete says, "Nah, we're in Chicago. I think the hope crystals were in-chancel."

[interludes] GM says, "Asagiri says, "Only as long as this chancel, young lady, though Yasmina offered me tenure long ago.""

[nobilis] GM says, "the hope crystals are in the realw orld, but these aren't them. The hope crystals fall out of people."

[nobilis] Pete asks, "Er. When you say 'every crystal', does that include the one whose hand I was holding?"

[nobilis] GM says, "No"

[nobilis] Pete says, "Phew."

[nobilis] Dara laughs.

[nobilis] GM says, "she's still there. trembling a bit but refusing to look back over her shoulder"

Pete leads the way back to the surface.

[nobilis] GM says, "She left the tapestry behind as well, ifeither of you care."

Dara pauses, then collects the tapestry before she steps out.

[nobilis] Dara says, "Yeah, I was thinking of that."

[interludes] Thalia asks, "Who is in charge? Who is the chancellor of this school?"

[interludes] Thalia . o O ( ..nathan iron chimera == yasmina ? )

Dara says, "We better get you to our home--you're a bit conspicuous as is."

[interludes] GM puffs himself up. "Me, of course."

Dara says (to X), "Then we can start looking for your aunt."

[interludes] Nathan says (to Thalia), "(right)"

[interludes] GM says, "well, asigiri does"

[nobilis] Pete asks, "The aunt was in what became the chancel, right?"

[nobilis] GM says, "Yes."

GM asks, "What's your plan for getting her to your chancel?"

Dara transforms to a bus, drives everyone.

[interludes] Thalia says (to asagiri), "did you build this building yourself? we are planning on establishing a school and if we link it to this existing school..."

[nobilis] Dara says, "(with tinted windows, natch)"

[nobilis] Thalia asks (of dara), "what movie is playing onthe bus?"

[nobilis] Dara says, "A Charlie Chaplain flick ;-)"

[interludes] GM says, "Asigiri says, "Of course not. Her Majesty caused it to spring into being, the same as everything else here." He peers at Thalia curiously. "You will be one of my first students, I think.""

[interludes] Thalia says, "whoo"

[interludes] Thalia asks, "i can learn to flick my wrist and make things fly?"

[interludes] Thalia says (to nathan), "i think we may as well as use the downtown location"

[interludes] Thalia says, "unless we ask yasmina to build us a building in the urban chancel"

[interludes] Nathan says, "well, it'll be more convenient for students in the city to have the campus there anyway"

Monkey arrives, looking for booty.

[nobilis] Thalia says (to granola), "yay."

[nobilis] Thalia says, "i was wondering what happens with the dragon"

[interludes] GM moves everybody here to the same room since you're in the chancel, and I will do dragon stuff.

GM says, "Now everybody but monkey is in the chancel, with additionally a fairy named FLute and a six-armed crystal woman named Mitrasama."

[nobilis] GM says, "and there is a cat in my lap being in the way. damn cat"

Nathan looks with surprise at the newcomers

Pete says, "Hi."

[interludes] Thalia asks, "is asagiri with us in the chancel or are we done with him?"

[nobilis] GM says, "well, you can talk to Asigiri since I'm not sure the bus pulls up on the rural side, but I was gonna let you work it out among yourselves"

Pete says, "This is Mitrasama. She's from Chicago, but she hasn't been out much lately."

[interludes] Monkey says, "mmm dragon"

Dara says, "This is Mitrasama, Helen of Troy's illegitimate kid."

Nathan says, "...my"

Pete says, "Mitra, this is Nathan, and Thalia, and Ferris."

Thalia says, "that sleepy guy over there is a wizard, Asagiri. We were just talking to him when you guys pulled up"

[interludes] * GM has removed Nathan from the channel.

[nobilis] Thalia says (to gm), "aw, i wanted to watch :)"

Pete, looking at Asagiri, tries to surpress a yawn of his own.

GM says, "Asagiri shuffles around wherever he is, poking at stuff and muttering about his staff and Yasmina-- Imperators today, can't trust 'em, not like Imperators of old."

Thalia asks (of mitra), "so you are Paris and Helen's kid?"

GM says, "Mitrasama is folded up very small, all her arms around herself. "Paris? No... I don't think so.""

[interludes] GM exclaims, "Monkey!"

[interludes] GM exclaims, "You were watching Alex approach a dragon!"

Thalia says (to mitra), "(softly) you okay? We are all friends here"

Dara says, "Helen is--or was--the Viscontess of Weaving."

Mitrasama says, "He... died. My mother told me about him. He died in the war."

Pete says, "We tried sending a message to her, but the paper was destroyed. It might ork differently from here; I don't know."

Thalia asks, "can we scry to find her?"

Thalia says, "i just saw a magic university, i have magic on the brain"

[interludes] Monkey says, "I was."

(From GM) Flute hops off of Jim's head and zooms around the area. Then she springs back to Pete and buzzes around him looking for the crystals. "Just give me one, I'll go look for them on my own."

[interludes] Monkey says, "He had asked about doorways."

Dara says (to Flute), "I'll go with you."

Pete gives one to Flute.

Pete gives one to Dara.

Dara says, "Thanks."

Thalia asks (of nathan), "i am hungry again. i think i am going to put that mushroom out of his misery. want to share?"

Dara transforms into a fairy.

Pete gives one to X, too.

Nathan says, "er -- no, I'll just watch, I think"

Nathan says, "in case somebody has to call 911"

[interludes] GM says, "Had he? What a strange kid. The dragon belches fire at him. "There's the one you came through. You could use it again and leave." What are your plans for this scene, Monkey-prince? I feel a bit silly playing out two NPCs talking to each other."

Thalia asks (of pete), "what's with the crystals?"

(From GM) Deep in Thalia's bag, there's a 'yay!'

Thalia . o O (to ) ( nathan you gonna ask pete about construction? )

Thalia opens the bag, and takes out the mushroom, nibbling a bit on the edge.

Thalia says, "A bit dry and flaky, but not half bad"

Pete says (to Thalia), "Mitrasama tells us that if a gateway opens near one you when you have one of these, it'll be reflected in the crystal."

[interludes] Monkey says, "well, I'm planning on watching and intervening if anything significant happens."

[interludes] Monkey says, "But I'd like a closer look at those ornate doorways."

[interludes] GM says, "I can work with that, gimme a minute"

Pete says, "Flute hopes that finding these gateways will help locate the people who have apparently disappeared lately."

Thalia asks, "missing people?"

[interludes2] * GM has added Thalia to the channel.

[nobilis] Pete asks, "What time was it on the city side, by the way?"

Nathan asks, "missing people?"

[nobilis] Nathan says, "lunchtime"

[interludes2] GM says, "As you swallow a bit of the mushroom..."

[interludes2] GM says, "Which is, well, first you have a cheering mushroom.. merging into you. Mushrooms learn a lot, sitting in the soil, eating dead things."

Thalia spins around crazily

[interludes] Monkey does a series of cartwheels, chases his tail, scampers across the cave, careers off the wall, does a somersault in the air and turns into a swarm of tiny monkeys.

Thalia says, "ooh. i see colors, and rainbows"

[interludes2] GM says, "Yeah. It just sort of happened. It practicalled absorbed into you."

Pete says, "I think I'm going to try to grab a few Z's."

Thalia looks at Mitra

[nobilis] Nathan says, "yeah, under the fourth one, you're always allowed to aid the camorra"

Thalia says, "ow, you are way too colorful"

[interludes] GM says, "The dragon watches you suspiciously, and Alex is totally horrified"

[nobilis] Nathan says, "er, cammora"

[nobilis] Nathan says, "and this somehow whitewashes what's being done even if it ends up committing a crime"

Pete pulls out his phone. "Hey, Renaissance? You still there?"

Nathan says, "hmm"

Nathan says, "I don't know where we're sleeping"

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says, "alright, i need to do a google search and find out how people act when they are trippin"

Nathan says, "I guess I can try and find my house again"

[interludes] Monkey asks, "now, can I hide one or two of my minimonkeys behind some treasure or other while the rest clown around and generally distract attention?"

Pete taps the phone.

Thalia suddenly stops spinning and stares off in to space silently

Nathan says (to Pete), "hunh, he was talking to me before"

[interludes] GM exclaims, "Yes, absolutely. You're the power of Mischief!"

Nathan says, "anyway, sometime tomorrow I'll talk to you about my construction project, but it can wait"

Pete says, "Yeah, he was able to use my cell phone a few hours ago, but maybe it doesn't work in the chancel unless he's calling me."

[nobilis] Dara says, "[I also have a question pending to Mitra, when you get back to this bit.]"

[Crows-Nest] Monkey says, "huzzah! then I shall do that and sneak my minimonkeys across the room towards the puzzlebox"

[interludes2] GM says, "(I am cutting and pasting from the draft on Alchemical theory. You can absorb as much or little as you want; I am doing it in whisper so it's not in the log)"

Nathan says, "no, I called him before from here"

[Crows-Nest] Monkey says, "ilak"

[nobilis] GM nods and is doing a fair amount of stuff at once currently, sorry

Pete says, "Huh. I wonder if something's wrong."

[interludes] Monkey flies his main swarm in one dragon nostril and out the other.

(From Mitrasama) Renaissance picks up the phone. "Yeah, pops?"

Thalia in a sing-song voice, "Wrong? There is no wrong or right. It's all about shades of gray"

Pete says, "Hey, Ren -- I was wondering if you could do me a couple favors? You seem to be good at this information management stuff."

Pete wanders off while talking.

Mitrasama says to Dara, "I don't know. They're ghosts. We're in a parasite world right now, but it isn't this one they come from."

Thalia says, "but wait. that can't be. I don't see grays. I see blues and pinks and purples"

Thalia says, "the genie is varying shades of blue."

[interludes] Monkey flies in a swarm up Alex's pants leg, swarms round and round, and finally emerges from one pocket, tugging the elastic of the kid's underwear after him

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says (to granola), "i am trying to be deep and silent. i am failing miserably at the being deep bit"

[interludes] GM says, "The dragon rears back. "Cease this at once!" The puzzle box is a little box with faces on each side that would preusmably reconfigure itself if the faces were pushed in the right order."

[Crows-Nest] Thalia asks, "what else?"

[Crows-Nest] Nathan says, "hee hee"

Pete asks (of Ren), "For one, I'm trying to figure out if I still have a home. Do I have an address on file?"

Thalia plays with her fingers

Thalia says, "ooh. i see light passing through and i can refract them too. i am crystal"

Nathan sighs

Nathan says, "just like being in college"

(From GM) Ren says, "Uh. There's a penthouse apartment in your name."

[interludes] Monkey says, "okay. I reform my into my human form by the box, grab it and leap through a doorway"

Thalia says (to nathan), "you are cute, but you are being such a stick in the mud"

Thalia asks, "aren't the colors pretty?"

Thalia waves her arm in a sweeping arc, almost knocking herself off balance

Pete asks (of Ren), "Really? Not bad -- can you download the address to this phone?"

Dara asks (of mage_guy), "Do you know a way to fight ghosts?"

Thalia says, "oops"

[interludes2] Thalia says, "i so hope i get a hangover or somekind of a crash after this :)"

[interludes] GM says, "Out of the corner of your eye, you catch the boy scrambling after you, taking advantage of the dragon's distraction. You leap through the doorway and hang between them for a minute. Then... i seems like a fabric reaches over you, covering your mouth and your nose, and drags you in a direction."

(From Mitrasama) Asagiri is watching Thalia very carefully. "You can learn a lot from a centaur seeing visions, you know," he comments to Dara. "Ghost, no, they're not my speciality. I'm the Alchemical Memory. You'd want the seat of the Pale Barbed Queen for that."

Thalia starts mumbling, "sum, dei, causa causans, spiritus..."

Dara asks, "Who's that?"

Pete tells Renaissance about the people he wants to hire on for the construction company, and what to tell them and so on.

GM says, "Ren says, "Of course. This is your address. <>. Leave a message at the beep." Ren sounds a bit... flippant."

(From GM) Asagiri says, "I wouldn't know, would I? Her seat's empty. My staff is not here, did I mention?"

Thalia says, "things are made of colors. the water substances are blue and green, the world is black and white"

Thalia says (to asagiri), "talk to justin banks!"

Thalia giggles

Dara says, "Ah, no you didn't."

Pete says (to Ren), "You're great, man -- hey, anything I can do for you, you just ask. You've got my number."

[interludes] GM says, "With a THUMP, you end up in a white place. As you look around, you see crowds of people standing in what looks like a totally white train station. There are no spirits here; it is if you're in the corpse of a building. The kid thumps through behind you."

Thalia says, "that's a lot of silver and purple around pete's head"

Monkey says, "<WAHOOO!>"

[interludes] Monkey asks (of kid), "Hey, you got any idea what this box is for?"

Dara flips open her phone. "Ren? Any idea how to neutralize or combat ghosts?"

[interludes] GM says, "Alex says, "Uh, let me look at it. I used to be good at puzzle boxes down at the game store...""

[interludes] Monkey hands it to Alex, and watches him a little warily

[nobilis] Pete says, "This Renaissance guy is even handier than Henderson."

[nobilis] GM says, "The rural guys also have a landlord, but she's not as all-present."

Dara says (to Ren), "You don't. Right. ooookay."

Thalia asks, "ghosts?"

Thalia asks, "would ghosts be made of colors too?"

Dara asks, "Well, reconnaissance it is. Flute, you ready?"

Pete wonders off to his apartment to see what it's like and to take a quick nap.

(From GM) Flute says, "I was born ready, boss!" She salutes.

Nathan says, "I'm beat myself -- see you guys in eight hours"

Nathan says, "all this lunching is hard work"

Thalia says, "heh"

Dara says, "See you all later--I'll phone if we run into trouble."

Dara says, "Hmm."

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says, "you know, i sort of imagined i was going to be eating a psychedelic mushroom, but this is fun"

Nathan wanders off back towards his own house, if it's still around.

Dara creates a fairy-sized phone, sticks it in her pocket.

Dara says, "There we go."

Dara flits off, crystal in hand.

[interludes] Monkey prods at the people

[interludes] GM says, "Some of the people are hollow, you notice. Like shells or casings, with no backs to them. From the front they look like ordinary people, if drained and tired, but from the back, they look like... half of a candy shell."

[interludes] Monkey dances around trying to knock people over

Thalia asks (of asagiri), "what color will ghosts be?"

[interludes] Monkey asks, "does Worldwalker give me the ability to sense where exits are? or just to make my own exits, or what?"

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "i guess here now, since all the others have left?"

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "ghosts are shadowy, transient conditions, aren't they?"

[interludes] GM says, "The people aren't a whole lot of fun to play with, unfortunately. Then... it seems like some transparent fabric lifts from one of the whole people and there's a shell person underneath. The fabric flutters towards Monkey and then vanishes."

[interludes2] GM says, "That sounds likely. You can either tag along after Dara and crew, or collapse ina corner and Asigiri will help you start making sense of what you're seeing."

[interludes] GM says, "I think you can sense where exits are."

[interludes2] Thalia lies down.

[interludes2] Thalia says, "my head hurts."

Dara says (to Flute), "Remember, these'll shatter if we get too close, so once we get a reading on it, let's leave 'em behind so we can pick them up later."

[interludes2] Thalia says, "i don't understand all that i am seeing"

[interludes] Monkey exclaims, "wah!"

GM says, "Dara and Flute wander around town for a while and eventually one of the crystals starts chiming gently."

[interludes2] Thalia curls up, hooves tucked in, leans her head against the tree trunk

[nobilis] GM asks, "What's up with the nappers?"

[interludes] Monkey asks, "then can I sniff around for exits while farmboy prods at the cube?"

[nobilis] (from Thalia) NAthan says, "zzzzzz"

[nobilis] Pete says, "They realized that IC they ought to be fairly sleepy by now."

[nobilis] Nathan says, "yeah"

[interludes2] GM says, "Asagiri sits down beside you. "You're seeing the underlying structure of the universe, it sounds like. Or at leats one point of view.""

[nobilis] Pete says, "I would be fine with getting woken up by something interesting happening or having a dream sequence or whatever, though."

[nobilis] GM says, "Fair enough. Hmmm."

[nobilis] Pete says, "Otherwise, I expect Pete will sleep for an hour or two, then wake up completely refreshed."

Dara ditches the other crystal, then follows the first until it's chiming louder.

[nobilis] Nathan says, "I have plans for when I wake up but, yeah, it seems like I need to get some sleep in"

[nobilis] Nathan says, "(also I am going to be afk for five minutes or so)"

[interludes] GM says, "There doesn't seem to be any natural exits, but the flappy cloth things seem to make exits for themselves when the detatch from the humans. At one point another one reappears, and drops a human on the white smooth ground. Everything is all plasticky here."

[interludes2] Thalia keeps a whimper in check while she nods

[interludes] GM says, "Alex says, "Dammit! I've solved it twice now and it keeps reshaping itself!""

[interludes2] Thalia says, "i think i will feel better after anap too"

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "maybe nathan was right, that a nap will make things make more sense?"

[interludes2] GM says, "Asagiri says, "The greatest understanding of this vision allows for imperial miracles, but it will be a long time before you are capable of that." He reaches out and strokes a finger along your bow. "But such arts might enhance this artifact of yours, for example, or make arrows with special properties." He sighs. "Yes, nap. The young today!""

[interludes] Monkey looks at the cube in mythic

[interludes2] Thalia says, "ooh."

[nobilis] Dara asks, "Also, I lost scrollback--the crystals shatter when, exactly?"

[interludes2] Thalia says, "wait. tell me more about the arrows bit"

[nobilis] Thalia says, "when you guys left, i thought"

[nobilis] Dara says, "No, the find-the-gateway crystals."

[nobilis] Pete says, "The five will shatter if they get too close to a gateway."

Mitrasama says, "You come upon somebody in a crowd who is... simply fading away, their eyes closed, like they were bleached out of existence."

Dara darts down, drops the crystal, then zips up and grabs on to the fading person.

[nobilis] GM says, "I have to go AFK a minute. BRB"

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "i needto get going soon...anyone know what time today will end?"

[nobilis] Dara asks, "Midnight?"

[nobilis] Thalia says (to dara), "go do your fairy thing"

[nobilis] Dara says, "hee hee"

[nobilis] Pete says, "I would guess five Eastern, but that's just a wild guess, based one start time + four hours."

[nobilis] GM returns, sorry about that, 45 minutes from now is when I must stop.

Flute darts down and does the same. And then you appear in a white place, like a train station, plasticky everything, and everything here feels dead. Except the monkey-dude scampering around, and the boy playing with a puzzle box. And there are crowds of people here.

[interludes] * GM has removed Monkey from the channel.

GM says, "Monkey, there is no Mythic here."

Monkey says, "wah"

[nobilis] Dara asks, "Our monkey?"

Monkey exclaims, "Aha!"

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "what were you saying about the properties for arrows?"

Dara exclaims, "Monkey! Hi!"

[interludes2] GM says, ""Oh, I know a lady who took her favorite gun and enchanted it to never miss. It developed a will of its own, but--" he shakes his head. "It never did miss, at least when shooting at people.""

Monkey does a backflip in midair, scuttles up and hugs Dara's leg.

[interludes2] Thalia says, "eep"

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "she died by her own gun?"

Dara flutters, but manages to stay upright.

Monkey says, "This place was beginning to worry Monkey."

Dara says, "What's happening? People are disappearing from Chicago and ending up here."

[interludes2] GM says, "No no. But it would only shoot people, not objects, unless she compelled it."

Monkey says, "We came from a dragon's cave."

Dara says, "A real dragon? Cool."

Dara asks, "Oh, the kid's with you?"

Monkey says, "And all the people are hollow and we have a puzzle box but it changes all the time."

GM says, "There are people here, and Flute is fluttering between them all anxiously. "Oh my god!" she says."

Dara asks, "Monkey, this is Flute, the fairy. What's wrong, Flute?"

Monkey exclaims, "Ooo! Pretty!"

Monkey bounds at Flute in an attempt to catch her.

GM says, "Sure enough, many of the people are hollow, like painted candy shells if viewed from behind. from the front they move and breath like normal people, but from behind they are empty and hollow."

Dara says, "Great googly-moogly."

GM says, "And there's fluttering fabric lifting off one of the whole people to reveal a shell person underneath. The fabric is sheer and it vanishes into the whiteness above as it flutters up."

[nobilis] Dara says (to GM), "Have you played the computer game King of Dragon Pass? There's some people like that there."

[nobilis] Dara says, "Or, rather, pictures of someone in a story like that."

[interludes2] Thalia says, "oh i see"

Flute zips around the crowds ever faster, evading Monkey easily unless he uses a miracle to catch her. She thrums to a halt in front of a dark-haired little girl. "Cara?"

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "how do i work with this? is it like setting up a laboratory?"

Monkey says, "Our dried voices, when we whisper together are quiet and meaningless as wind in dry grass or rat's feet over broken glass in our dry cellar."

Monkey exclaims, "Ooh, pretty fluttery thingy!"

Monkey rips at some fabric.

[interludes2] GM says, "Yes. We have a laboratory in my building, actually. Yasmina wanted me to teach you and your siblings about this."

Dara asks (of kid), "You trying to solve the puzzle box?"

(From GM) Alex is pushing and turning at the puzzle box intently. "Four times now. A different puzzle each time. Maybe if I do it six times..."

Monkey snatches the puzzle box from Alex, drops it on the floor at his feet.

(From GM) One of the ghost-things is grabbed by Monkey as it flutters by, and closes down over him, clogging up his mouth, trying to reach inside him and being rejected by his auctoritus.

Monkey exclaims, "Try this one, Alex the Great!"

Monkey wallops the puzzle-box as hard as he can with his iron bar.

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "you know, i don't feel that sick anymore. can we go to the lab now?"

[nobilis] GM asks, "Are you spending miracle points?"

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "or do we need to wait for the others?"

[nobilis] Monkey says, "not yet."

[interludes2] GM exclaims, "I'd really like my staff back before we do anything in the lab!"

Dara tries to pull the ghost-thing off monkey.

[nobilis] Monkey says, "we'll see how far aspect 3 gets me."

[interludes2] Thalia says, "good point"

[nobilis] Dara says, "(or off something else, if need be)"

[interludes2] Thalia says, "when was the last time you saw it? i cna help you find it"

(From GM) The ghost thing decides to try and eat Dara instead, and is rejected as well.

[nobilis] GM asks, "Well, I mean, are you doing a miraculous action or a mundane action?"

Dara transforms into a bigger ghost-thing than the ghost-thing, whallops it.

[interludes2] GM says, "No no, my dear, my /teaching/ staff. There's a whole council and set of instructors missing."

[nobilis] Monkey says, "well, I'm not spending miracle points, but I'm bashing it as hard as aspect 3 will allow, so I guess that's miraculous"

[nobilis] GM says, "(Also, sorry I don't have any stuff for the nappers... trying to get through this stuff before people have to go)"

[nobilis] GM says, "ok"

[interludes2] Thalia says, "oh"

(From GM) When Monkey whacks it there's a flare of shadow under the box and it unfolds... and keeps unfolding. And unfolding. Until at last it's a staircase rising up to a door at the top.

[Crows-Nest] Dara says, "It's hard to think of something more Simulationist in response than saying "I think I'm tired, so I'll take a nap" during the middle of a roleplaying session ;-)"

[interludes2] Thalia says, "nathan was talking about jason banks"

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "do you know the name?"

Monkey exclaims, "Oooh! Pretty!"

[Crows-Nest] jnc says, "I think I'm hungry, so I'll order some ribs."

[interludes2] Thalia says, "we can ask jason if he knows it. and maybe that's where the others are, trying to find them"

[nobilis] Nathan says, "(I am fine just watching here, although I will have to read the transcript later to figure out what the hell is going on)"

[interludes2] GM says, "(Justin Banks). "No, I don't. All I really know is you and a few farmers. I did just wake up, after all.""

[Crows-Nest] Dara laughs.

Monkey scuttles up the staircase

Monkey says, "Monkey has no time for knots."

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "can i ask nathan questions via mental telepathy while he is napping?"

[nobilis] Nathan says, "you can come wake me up, I guess"

(From Flute) Lots of ghost things fly towards Dara, lifting off their hosts. Meanwhile, Flut is tugging at Cara, crying little pixie tears, and Cara is blinking at her in confusion, whispering something.

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Yay knots."

[interludes2] Thalia opens her cell phone. Hey, cell phone, call Nathan's apartment

[nobilis] GM says, "Go wake him up, yeah."

Monkey exclaims, "Okay, push the stupid empty people up the stairs!"

[nobilis] Thalia says, "ok"

Dara . o O ( at least they aren't attacking the people now. )

[Crows-Nest] Monkey says, "it is troubling that I'm the one getting the classical references here"

[interludes2] Thalia says (to asagiri), "let's go wake up Nathan and ask him about Justin Banks and your staff"

Dara says (to Monkey), "You get 'em--I'll keep these ghost things distracted."

Monkey opens the door.

[interludes2] Thalia walks, trying to remember where Nathan's apartment could be. (Zen navigation, I like it)

(From Flute) Cara stumbles after Flute towards the stairs. A few other people trail after them.

[nobilis] GM says, "Monkey, are you opening the door back to the chancel? You can dictate"

Dara biff! Bam! spin-spin-spin-kick!

[nobilis] Monkey says, "sure I am."

Monkey springs down and starts prodding people (including Alex) up the stairs.

(From GM) The door opens into the park on the edge of both chancels, and sunlight spills into the white sterile place.

Dara exclaims, "Flute! Get your wendy up the stairs!"

[interludes2] Thalia is close to the urban chancel now

Monkey exclaims, "Here in death's dream kingdom the golden vision reappears!"

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says (to dara), "batman and peter pan"

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says, "i am confused"

Monkey prod prod prod

[Crows-Nest] Nathan says (to Dara), "ok, that sounds dirty"

[Crows-Nest] Dara laughs.

Flute drags Cara up the stairs and they fall through into the park! And the other people are slowly herded up the stairs and through the gate

Monkey says, "that is a cool box. I wanna keep it."

[nobilis] Dara asks, "Am I having any effect on these guys?"

[interludes2] GM says, "So, perhaps crossing the park"

[nobilis] GM says, "Not at all, but you're distracting them"

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says, "right."

[Crows-Nest] Thalia says, "ilac"

[interludes2] Thalia says, "right"

GM says, "People are spilling out of a doorway that has opened into the middle of the park."

Dara tries transforming into a variety of energy forms, trying to find one that affects them.

GM says, "Ri has materialize dthere and is staring at it suspiciously."

GM says, "Energy just goes harmlessly through them, grabbing them to tear has them dissapate in your hand, or clings to you like a really bad case of static."

GM says, "But everybody is getting out."

GM says, "Dara--"

GM says, "Some of them have the entities still on the,m"

[interludes2] Thalia asks, "do i come across these people? or do i make it to nathan's place?"

GM says, "Making them look whole."

GM says, "They're climbing the stairs with the rest of the people."

[interludes2] GM says, "Come across these people."

Dara exclaims, "Hey, no you don't!"

GM says, "Also, the people don't look hollow in your chancel anymore"

Thalia walking, comes across a bunch of people

Monkey exclaims, "BAD ghosts!"

Monkey wallops a few

Dara zips down and thwaps at the whole-dudes.

Thalia says, "whoa."

Thalia asks, "where did these people come from?"

Thalia looks around for a familiar face in the chancel, sees Flute

GM says, "Alex tries fighting them too, but this turns out to be a bad idea, since he doesn't have an Auctoritus to prevent them rfom settling onto him."

Thalia asks (of flute), "hey. you guys got the crystals to work, i take it?"

Monkey picks up Alex under one arm to keep him safe.

Flute zips to Thalia. "There are the bad ghosts! You can't let them into your chancel!"

Thalia asks (of asgari), "can i use any of the stuff i learned today to make my arrows hurt ghosts?"

Thalia says, "then i can help keep the ghosts away"

(From GM) Asagiri shakes his head. "I'm afraid that takes time. But you have a bow--" he rolls up a sleeve and waggles a hand, and a staff-- a wooden one appears. He aims it carefully and zaps somebody who just came through the door.Something detatches from him and flutters in the air for a moment.

[nobilis] Pete exclaims, "Hey, his staff is here now!"

[nobilis] Thalia says (to pete), "heh"

Monkey whack herd whack whack herd

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "some one has to spell this out for me. did the wizard just attack a ghost, or the people you rescued? i thought the ghosts were on the other side of the stairway, outside the chancel?"

GM says, "Okay! That seems to be about it, though Dara is still battling with a whole flock of 'em, and you're not CERTAIN you peeled them all off of the victims before sending them through the door-- and there's the staircase, and Monkey, and Alex under MOnkey's arm."

[nobilis] Nathan says, "I think they're flowing into the chancel"

GM says, "But all the people seem to be out."

[nobilis] Pete says, "I think some of the people still had ghosts attached to them."

[nobilis] GM says, "He zapped a guy, and a ghost detatched from the guy."

[nobilis] Thalia says, "ah ha"

[nobilis] Dara says, "Wait--I thought they all had 'defender's blessing'"

[nobilis] Dara says, "So he would have an effective auctoritas."

Monkey applies another healthy whacking to the staircase.

[nobilis] Pete says, "Maybe there hadn't been in the chancel long enough. If they disappeared before it was fully enchancelled."

Thalia says, "okay, i hope i don't kill anyone here."

[nobilis] Dara says, "No, I meant Alex."

[nobilis] Pete says, "Oh, good point."

Thalia aims arrows at people's feets, trying to dislodge ghosts that are still clinging to people

[nobilis] GM says, "He's not in the chancel"

[nobilis] Dara says, "Ah, gotcha."

Thalia says, "(cause you know, i don't want to kill anyone)"

[nobilis] GM asks, "what is the aspect on the bow?"

[nobilis] GM says, "aspect 6, okay, you can shoot something slightly thicker than a shadow with that."

Dara tries transforming into a cross.

[nobilis] Thalia says, "6, penetration 3"

GM says, "Ping ping ping goes the bow! Whack goes the staff! Clrrrrrmppppp goes the staircase as it starts folding up again, the door at the top closing."

Dara gives up, transforms into a beam of light, and zips out the door.

Monkey grabs the bottom of the box and jumps through the door.

[nobilis] Thalia says, "someone grab Alex"

[nobilis] Dara says, "Monkey did."

[nobilis] Dara says, "(I thought)"

GM says, "There's a flash of light in the park, and Monkey rolls to a stop in the gass, a box in one hand, Alex in the other arm, and no door."

GM says, "Ri taps her insubstantial foot. "What has been going on here?""

Dara exclaims, "A rescue!"

Monkey exclaims (at Ri), "We had an adventure!"

Monkey exclaims, "And look I got this cool box!"

[nobilis] GM says, "(Though we can stop here officially if people want, since it's quarter until 2. Each of you should have 2 xp at this point.)"

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "what about all the ghosts we have removed from people?"

[nobilis] Pete says, "Jumping Jack Flash in the gass gass gass."

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "do they die? or do they wander around our chancel now?"

[nobilis] GM says, "There's a few of them but they're pretty hard to see in the sunshine. Still, they can be tracked down by Realm miracles and some effort."

[nobilis] Dara says, "With any luck, the DB will keep our chancel inhabitants safe."

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "can i just shoot arrows in them and pin them against a tree so they can't do anything?"

[nobilis] GM says, "XP functions just like character points, so it takes 3 to raise a stat but there are gifts for less than that."

[nobilis] GM exclaims, "Maybe!"

Thalia says, "i have an idea"

[nobilis] GM exclaims, "Also, the DB is, hey, on both chancels, good plan!"

Thalia looks intently at a ghost, sees a tree right behind it, and shoots an arrow, trying to pin it down

[nobilis] GM says, "so that should help, unless they morph into a Super Parasite Ghost and stop around eating people whole or something."

Dara does a Realm miracle to surround the ghosts with a glow.

Thalia says (to dara), "thanks. that makes it easier"

Nathan wakes up eventually and heads out to the chicago university library to do some intensive research into a curriculum for an aerospace-and-nanotech-focused technical university

Thalia says, "if my plan works, at least, they will be unable to do any conspiring"

Monkey says (to Ri), "I SAVED THE DAY and if you say otherwise I am sulking forever and you're just jealous of my box."

[nobilis] Nathan says, "ha ha"

[nobilis] Pete asks (of Nathan), "Will that be open yet?"

[Crows-Nest] Dara says, "You will all be pleased to know that BlackICE has detected a TCP port probe from the computer 'GOODBURGER'."

[nobilis] GM looks in her book. Okay, you have to do a Impossible Effect (Local), through either your Domain or your Aspect/Bow or some combination of both.

[nobilis] Nathan says, "also, YM "Ri play with my box""

Thalia says (to asagiri), "we will have to try to meet up with nathan at some point so that we can talk about your staff"

[nobilis] GM says, "That is Aspect 7."

[Crows-Nest] Nathan says, "rowr"

[nobilis] Thalia says, "hm. my bow is 6."

Thalia asks (of dara), "how long does the glow thing last?"

GM says, "Ri says, "Hmmm. I believe you," to Monkey."

Dara says, "However long you want."

[nobilis] GM notes that in the rural chancel, Dara has to spend realm MPs to do creations.

Thalia asks (of dara), "can we have it for a long itme, and tell our residents to avoid glowing things?"

[Crows-Nest] Dara asks, "We're on the border, no?"

[nobilis] Dara says, "(channel)"

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "is it aspect 7 for each ghost i pin, or will one aspect 7 take care of em all?"

[nobilis] GM says, "yes, but if you want them to last, you either have to do a preservation in the other realm, or do the creation."

[nobilis] GM says, "for each ghost"

[nobilis] Thalia says, "gah"

[nobilis] Thalia says (to dara), "let's let them wander"

[nobilis] GM says, "I think you can spend an Aspect point each time but yeah, it gets spendy if you're going on an immediate hunting spree."

Dara does a realm divination to sense how many of them there are.

Monkey says, "hooray, now the dryads will have someone to talk to"

GM says, "Eight."

[nobilis] Thalia says, "i think our gm is more difficult than our landlord"

Monkey says, "I'll go and get the rusalkas to do something about them"

[nobilis] Dara asks, "What level is preservation, again?"

[nobilis] Pete says, "Hee."

[nobilis] GM says, "2, easy."

Monkey scuttles down to the river

[nobilis] GM says, "man, and here I was thinking I was too easy because nobody ever spent miracle points :-)"

[nobilis] Dara says, "Which I have, effectively, in the other chancel. OK, creation in my chancel, then preservation in the rural one."

Pete will probably wake up at some point, and will get online if his apartment has a ChancelNet connection to research stuff.

GM says, "It has ChancelNet but the connection to the external internet isn't really functional yet, because ChancelNet is VR cyber stuff."

Thalia asks (of asagiri), "can we set up a notice or something to tell our farmers to not get close to glowing things floating mid air?"

[nobilis] Nathan says, "hee hee"

Thalia says, "nothing i can do yet"

Dara asks (of Thalia), "Hey, if I got them all lined up with each other, do you think you could pin 'em all with one arrow?"

Thalia says, "ooh, that's a good idea"

GM says, "Madezhda is at the river, on a rock, kicking her bare feet in the air."

Thalia says, "let's do it that way"

Thalia says, "it's not like all 8 will be that thick"

GM says, "Ri drifts around. "They're not ghosts. I don't know what they are.""

Thalia asks (of ri), "whatever. they are still harmful, aren't they?"

Dara says, "Yeah, but if they were ghosts, we'd probably know more about 'em."

GM says, "Ri says, "I mean, I'm a ghost. They're... like shadows.""

Dara says, "Also, we haven't stopped that place from getting more."

Pete will just research Chancel-related stuff then -- local high techs, how Ren works, Nobilis background info that Jehiela or Ren or anyone might have put online.

Monkey exclaims (at Madezha), "Hey!"

Monkey exclaims, "Got some naughty things for you to be chasing!"

Dara sees if she can get the shadows to fight her again.

GM says, "Madezhda rolls over. "Yay, it's fruit-bringer! Ooooh!" She listens happily."

Thalia writes a note to Nathan, "Hey, I am going to need some help with Justin Banks. Can you call my cell or come find us in the park? -thally" and sends it off on the magic paper

[nobilis] GM says, "Okay, kids, we have to quit in four minutes."

[nobilis] Monkey says, "okay."

[nobilis] Dara nods.

[nobilis] Monkey says, "good session. thanks"

[nobilis] Thalia asks, "can dara and i pin the ghosts in the four minutes?"

[nobilis] GM says, "so we will follow up on some of this next week. Also, Eretal Chorani, Duchess of Darkness will make her appearance."

Nathan comes to a break in his studying, writes down some names of aerospace tech companies for references (with contact info for their employees) and heads back to the park

[nobilis] Nathan says, "cool"

[nobilis] Pete asks, "Will the next session be starting where we left off, or tomorrow morning (city time)?"

[nobilis] Thalia says, "i will spend the AMPs to get the impossible effect thing"

[nobilis] GM says, "Not in this short time frame, I think. Consider it a lingering plot thread, but you guys did really well."

[nobilis] Thalia says, "ok"

[nobilis] GM says, "Let's say tomorrow morning so everybody can sleep. :-)"
