[colonial] Tymen says (to GM), "Panache, for Initiative."
[colonial] G_M says, "that too."
[colonial] G_M asks, "so, logging?"
[7thsea] Brianna rolls 2k2: 10+9 6 | 25
G_M clears throat.
[colonial] Tymen says, "Yup, the log's on."
[Crows-Nest] josh_g asks, "ooh, a game is on?"
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says, "Mmhmm. Colonial."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "Colonial"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "... too bad I can't stay online long, wah"
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says, "(Coincidentally, on #colonial)"
G_M says, "So. When last we left our heroes, they were on their way to a garden party in Rajkapur, hosted by Colonel Abernethie of Avalon."
G_M says, "You set out at daybreak and arrive in port at about noon or a little bit later the next day, giving you a few hours to freshen up and prepare for the party itself."
G_M says, "(Assuming, of course, that you want to actually do that.)"
[7thsea] Brianna rolls 5k2: 9 3 5 5 6 | 15
Tymen goes for a walk about town.
Brianna's outfit is not quite up to her usual fashionable standards.
Alonso chooses his best robe.
Reginald purchases a lovely corsage.
G_M says, "Rajkapur is, of course, a lot older than San Angelo. It almost seems like four cities in one, with very distinct districts."
[colonial] Tymen asks, "What are those distrcts?"
G_M says, "The harbour area ... a large marketplace (with four quarters offering different qualities) ... what appears to be a religious quarter with temples and mansions...."
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says (to Tymen), "French, British, American, and Russian"
[colonial] G_M says (to Tymen), "as best you can tell: Poor, middle-class, well-off, religious."
[Crows-Nest] G_M says (to Alonso), "hee"
Tymen takes his stroll around the middle-class district, then. The poor district will tend to market junk, while the rich district will overprice everything.
[colonial] Reginald asks, "In what quarter lies the party's address?"
[colonial] Tymen says, "The harbor district."
G_M says, "The city stands at the mouth of an inlet. There's a very large bay through the inlet, but apparently it's off-limits."
[colonial] Tymen says, "Oh, you mean the *other* kind of 'party' :)"
Alonso wanders around, getting a feel for the city. Tap, tap, tap.
[colonial] G_M says (to Reginald), "It's on the fringe of the well-off district, a little apart from everything else."
Brianna says (to Alonso&Tymen), "I'd like to check by an armerer. I have a nick I'd like him to look at."
G_M says, "There are a number of cows roaming the streets. No-one seems to care."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "So they're all Hindu."
[Crows-Nest] G_M says (to Brianna), "Shhh."
[colonial] Reginald is about all wandered out.
G_M says, "The marketplace is pretty much the centre of the city, although it seems mostly within the middle-class region."
Tymen nods to Brianna, and wanders off to see what kind of jewellers they have around here.
Alonso heads to the more religious parts of town.
G_M says (to Tymen), "You can find just about anything in the district you've chosen -- except an armory. Haggling is very fierce here."
[colonial] Tymen says, "It's Brianna looking for the armory, though."
Tymen listens in to the haggling, to try to gauge what kind of value he could get for his gems if he tried to sell them.
G_M says (to Alonso), "There's a certain rarefied atmosphere here. You see a few temples. There are scary demonic-looking statues carved all over them, and not in the happy-decorative-gargoyle way."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald gasps for air... oh, in *that* sense.
G_M says (to Brianna), "There do appear to be several armorers over in the well-off district."
Alonso says, "Hm hm hm. I can see where there is work to be done."
Brianna says, "Tymen, I hear there are armorers in that (points) area of town. You might get better value for your gems, too, since it looks like a nicer area. No gaurantees, though."
G_M says (to Tymen), "You could probably fetch a pretty good price. Rubies appear to be pretty common here, though."
Tymen asks (of Brianna), "Excuse me?"
[colonial] Reginald looks around to see if there's a local chapter of the Explorers' Society.
Tymen frowns. "Have you been going through my possessions?"
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "Last session's details aren't terribly clear - I assumed Brianna would know of your gems, but if not, I take it back."
[colonial] G_M says (to Reginald), "Well, about the only person you could ask would be the harbourmaster (most people speak a strange language you've never heard before) and he suggests you look up a Dr Ludovic Strange, over in the temple quarter."
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says, "AFAIK"
[colonial] Brianna says, "Last session's details aren't terribly clear - I assumed Brianna would know of your gems, but if not, I take it back."
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says, "AFAIK, none of you would, unless there's something you've beend oing behind my back..."
[Crows-Nest] Emily says, "'I assumed Brianna would know of your gems' is my new favorite euphemism"
[colonial] Brianna asks, "What is AFAIK?"
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says, "yay"
[colonial] Alex says (to Brianna), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that AFAIK is As Far As I Know."
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says (to EMily), "Eeyow."
[colonial] Tymen says (to Brianna), "'As Far As I KNow'."
[colonial] Brianna says, "oh, right. Thanks."
[colonial] Reginald says (to G_M), "I do so."
Alonso wanders up to one of the gargoyles and taps it gently with the end of his staff.
[Crows-Nest] Brianna (to Emily) -b::
G_M says (to Alonso), "Wedged between the religious quarter and the well-off quarter is a large square. A forbidding-looking building (probably the prison) stands here. In the middle of the square is a battered post."
Tymen will assume Brianna never made that comment, and will continue eavesdropping on the hagglers.
G_M says (to Alonso), "It continues leering."
Alonso says, "Aha, I do believe that is a post."
Alonso ambles over to look at it.
[colonial] Tymen says (to Alonso), "Ask it if it's name is Mericet."
Brianna briefly wonders why Tymen is lurking, then ignores him to go to the armorer.
G_M says (to Tymen), "Haggling. You don't understand the language, but you can guess what they're saying. "Oy, and you want my family to starve?", etc.."
[colonial] Alonso says, "heh"
[colonial] Tymen says, "(Er, #crows, but anyway)"
[Crows-Nest] Reginald asks, "Did we rename the Narcissus?"
[colonial] Tymen says (to GM), "I'm more interesting it gauging the amount of money being exchanged versus quality of goods than in the specific words."
[colonial] Tymen says, "E.g. is it more of a buyer's or seller's market for jewellery, etc."
G_M says (to Alonso), "It's a post. It's about 6 feet high, battered and bloodstained."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Money? They don't use money. They use cows."
[Crows-Nest] Alex says (to Reginald), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that money is monkey."
[colonial] Tymen says, "Do they dealers seem to have an idea of what's valuable, or could they be easily duped? Etc."
G_M says, "(what's Reggie up to?)"
Alonso looks for someone to ask about the forbidding building and bloodstained post.
[colonial] G_M says (to Tymen), "You'll have to be pretty sharp to dupe anyone in this particular quarter."
[colonial] Tymen says, "Darn."
G_M says (to Alonso), "You do notice a pair of women walking up from the marketplace. One of them is evidently a native, but the other one is very very blonde."
Reginald trucks off in search of Dr. Strange.
Tymen sniffs his disapproval of skilled hagglers who aren't himself, and wanders off to get to know the layout of the town.
Alonso says (to two women), "Pardon me. I was wondering if you could give some directions to a newcomer."
Alonso smiles beatifically.
(From G_M) Native woman: "Yes?"
Alonso says, "I was interested in what that large building is, and this rather frightening post."
[Crows-Nest] (from Reginald) The priest asks, "Which way to the brothel?"
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says (to Reginald), "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick."
(From G_M) Native woman: "That is the prison. The post is for executions."
(From G_M) Blonde woman: "So, so terrible...."
Alonso says, "I see. How unfortunate."
Alonso says (to blonde woman), "If you'll forgive an impertinent question, you seem not to be from around here either."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "I'm just here for a routine checkup."
[7thsea] Reginald rolls 3k3: 2 4 2 | 8
(From G_M) Blonde woman: "No, I ... (glances at native woman) but I'm not sure we should be talking."
Alonso's smile slips a bit.
Alonso says, "Is there something the matter? I have been charged by my order to help those in need."
[colonial] Tymen says, "Perhaps Alonso needs to buy more spirit gum. That should keep it on."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Those in 'need'. Nudge, nudge."
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says, "Don't make me thwap you with my quarterstaff."
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says (to Alonso), "Woah. I didn't know Alonso was that type."
(From G_M) Native woman: "We are in a bit of a hurry. Is there anything else you need?"
[Crows-Nest] Alonso exclaims (at Tymen), "Thwap!"
G_M says (to Reginald), "The path to Dr Strange's house takes you through the square where you see Alonso talking to two women. Then it's down a couple of dark alleyways in between temples."
Alonso says, "I? No. But my offer of assistance still stands. My name is Alonso Reyes, and I am with the ship <name which I can't remember>, at the docks in <berth number which I probably know.>"
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Ship was called the Narcissus (among other names)"
(From G_M) Native woman: "That is very good. Now if you please, we must be going."
Alonso bows.
[Crows-Nest] (from Tymen) Alonso says, "I'm originally from <country from Theah>, and I'm staying here with <name of person in room>. I have to go <verb> right now, because my <body part> is feeling <adjective>. Goodbye, and I hope you have a nice <noun>."
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says, "I like to try a more mad-libs-style approach to 7th Sea."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Oh, if only Tymen had a quotebook..."
G_M says, "The two women begin walking off. The blonde woman glances back at you as they turn in at a set of imposing gates."
Alonso watches the blond woman go, and takes note of the gates.
[colonial] Alonso asks, "What kind of building are the gates for?"
G_M says (to Alonso), "You hear a strange trumpeting sound from behind it."
[Crows-Nest] Tymen creates 'Quotes from 7th Sea', to go with the Nobilis quotebook.
Alonso walks towards the gates, just to look.
[colonial] G_M says (to Alonso), "It's a residence at a corner of the square, indicating a person of great importance. The mansion is set quite a ways back from the gates ... there's a lot of garden between gate and house."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "I'll sign it..."
[colonial] Alonso asks, "Anyone around I can ask about the house?"
G_M says (to Alonso), "You see the women entering the mansion. There appear to be a lot of guards ... in fact, it seems the place is connected to an army barracks."
G_M says (to Reginald), "And you arrive at Dr Strange's very shortly."
G_M asks (of Brianna), "you were shopping...?"
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Erm, or maybe I don't..."
Reginald knocks politely.
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "Looking for an armorer, to fix a nick."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "I tried to sign #12489, but... apparently it didn't take."
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says, "(You did, actually. I just forgot to set it so the quotes could be read. It's OK now.)"
G_M says (to Reginald), "You hear a voice shout something in that foreign language. Then there's a bit of a wait. Finally the door is pulled open by someone who apparently just got out of a bathtub."
Reginald bows. "Hello, you must be the renowned Dr. Strange. A pleasure, sir."
[colonial] Alonso says, "(If there isn't anyone, I'll probably accidentally wander up that way)"
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says, "(Now we all find out it's really female, right?)"
Reginald says (to Strange), "I am Reginald Cox, member of the Explorers' Society, and I've travelled quite some good way."
G_M says (to Brianna), "You can take your pick. All the armorers of the city are collected around here. They mostly don't understand you, but show them the problem and they immediately know what needs to be done."
(From G_M) Dr Strange: "What? Yes, yes. Well, you've caught me at a bad time. I have a dinner to attend this evening, and no time right now to entertain you.
[colonial] Alonso says, "(Is that a "there isn't anyone" or is that a "shutupshutup too busy dealing with the other PCs"?)"
Brianna removes her panzerhand, and indicates where it was bumped. She mimes the blow to the armorer for emphasis.
Reginald says (to Strange), "Ah, how coincidental; I've also dinner plans tonight... with a colonel, actually. Well, I hope to make your acquaintance another time, sir. Good day."
G_M says, "(Dr Strange is a small, elderly man with a long white beard. He reminds you of the moneylender in that play, "A Pound of Flesh".)"
(From G_M) Dr Strange: What, Colonel Abernethie's? I'll see you there then. Good day.
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says (to Strange), "Also, I found this simple gold ring inscribed with some silly script... oh, it's probably not important."
Reginald walks off.
[Crows-Nest] Reginald is about done with this wandering about for now.
G_M says (to Brianna), "The panzerhand causes a bit of a stir. The armorers gather around to inspect it, and finally one mimes that yes he can fix it."
[colonial] Alonso asks, "While I'm queueing requests, what's the native language here?"
[colonial] G_M says (to Alonso), "whoops, sorry. One moment ..."
[colonial] Alonso says, "np"
[colonial] G_M says (to Alonso), "Okay. There are the guards and soldiers. They may or may not speak your language. And the native language seems similar to Crescent, but not similar enough. You've never heard it before."
Brianna begins haggling with the armorer, but not too fiercely if he's the only one that can fix it. Then again, its a small nick.
Alonso wanders through the gates, gawking at everything.
G_M asks (of Brianna), "Uh, what money are you using?"
Alonso asks (of random soldier), "Fascinating house you have here! Er, is this what barracks normally look like?"
G_M says (to Alonso), "He taps his ear and shakes his head."
G_M says (to Brianna), "And he shows you a coin of the local currency. Apparently he also accepts Castillian doubloons, because he shows you one of those as well."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "I'd have a mix, probably mostly Eisen, though."
G_M says (to Alonso), "Also, seeing as how you just walked onto private property, he turns you around by the shoulders and points you to the gates."
Alonso exclaims, "Sorry! Just looking around!"
Alonso heads out the gates again.
[Crows-Nest] Brianna asks, "Would he accept trade-weight coinage, rather than a specific currency?"
G_M says (to Brianna), "He tries to say something, looks a little frustrated, and finally calls outside for someone."
G_M says (to Brianna), "Finally, a ragged little urchin comes in."
[colonial] Reginald takes a few quick sketches of the city architecture in his journal, for posterity.
(From G_M) Urchin: You need translator, yes? I am Ravi, I translate for you.
[colonial] Alonso says, "If I can't find anyone else to accost about the house, I'm going to continue wandering, then head back shortly before dinner."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "The urchin is black, spiky, and dripping wet."
[colonial] G_M says (to Alonso), "Not much else to do before dinner, then."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald asks, "Are the logs for this game up somewhere?"
G_M says (to Brianna), "Ravi explains that you should probably get your money changed. There is a Dr Strange in the Temple district who would be willing to change money, but this morning this Dr Strange (strange man!) said he was not open for business today, maybe tomorrow."
Brianna says (to Ravi), "I want to trade 2g for him to fix this little nick (points). Ask him if that is acceptable, please."
G_M says (to Brianna), "Ravi and the armorer talk a bit, then..."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "bah! I'm always reading someone's response to something after I've already gone and typed something else. I go get my money changed, and tell him I'll come back in a bit."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "or tomorrow."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Ne'ermind; found them."
(From G_M) Ravi: He say he would be most happy to begin work now, and will be finished tomorrow morning. You will have time to change your money.
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says, "Don't worry; I'm sure we won't get into more than two or three fights before then."
Brianna says (to Ravi), "Please tell him I will bring it to him later, and wait for it while he works. There is no hurry."
G_M says (to Brianna), "Ravi relays the message, and says that the armorer is quite agreeable."
Brianna thanks Ravi and armorer for their time, and heads elsewhere (wandering or going back to the ship to prepare for the party, depending on the time).
G_M gathers that most people are preparing for the party?
Reginald nods.
Tymen does so, when time gets on towards then.
Brianna's primping will be minimal, but she's insistent on it.
G_M says, "You all meet up at the ship and set off for the dinner, then, along with Governor Fernandez and Bishop Azurro."
G_M says, "Garden party."
G_M says, "You are met by Colonel Abernethie, who shakes hands, is jovial and all. He's an Avalon gent with a somewhat laid-back attitude."
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says, "on fone for a minute"
[Crows-Nest] G_M says, "I was wondering what happened to you."
Tymen greets people appropriately.
Brianna asks, "Greetings Colonel. How are you this evening?"
(From G_M) Colonel: (to Brianna) Ah, splendid, quite splendid. You are new to the area, I think?
Brianna says, "Yes, Colonel, we came in on the Narcicuss."
G_M says, "Dr Strange is here, sampling from a buffet table laden down with foods. Governor Fernandez exchanges a few words with Abernethie before going off to speak to a couple of men at one end of the table."
Reginald chases down the elusive Dr. Strange.
[colonial] Tymen says, "(Aside from Reginald and Brianna, do the rest of us have any knowledge of who Dr. Strange is, or why he's significant?)"
(From G_M) Abernethie: (to Brianna) I'm afraid I don't know the ship. First voyage out here?
[colonial] G_M says (to Tymen), "Mmm ... no, I don't think so."
Tymen looks at the table, and tries some of the local foods.
Brianna says, "Yes, we were escorting Mme's <insert names here> to your fair country."
G_M says (to Tymen), "Mmm ... sweet, sweet, very sweet ... eeagh-get-me-a-glass-of-water..."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "The Fernandezeses"
Brianna says, "Yes, we were escorting Mme's <insert names here> to your fair country."
[colonial] Alonso says, "Back"
Tymen coughs, sputters a bit, then coughs a little more.
[colonial] Tymen asks, "Spicy?"
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "lag"
(From G_M) Abernethie: (to Brianna) Ah, Emilio did mention something of the sort. I don't see them around, though.
Alonso wanders the garden, sampling some of the food and drink.
[Crows-Nest] Brianna asks, "lag??"
[Crows-Nest] Alex says (to Brianna), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that Lag is what Iain always has."
Reginald says (to Strange), "Ah, we meet again, Doctor. So sorry to have interrupted you earlier."
[colonial] G_M says (to Tymen), "very. The amount of spice in here could keep you in luxury for a month, back in Theah."
[Crows-Nest] G_M asks (of Brianna), "Lagging?"
(From G_M) Strange (to Reggie): Ah, right. You. Well, I'll let bygones be bygones ... you were asking about the Explorers, as I recall.
Tymen . o O ( I wonder if I could buy some of this... it'd sell well as munitions. )
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "nothing has shown up for me since "mmm . . .no, I don't think so." so I'm logging off and trying again."
Brianna has disconnected.
Reginald asks (of Strange), "Yes, I'm a member over in fair Avalon. Ah, I miss it so. But it's quite the lovely country, here. Have you been in Srivijaya long?"
Brianna has connected.
Alonso stops by Tymen. "Have you tried the...the little...this?" He shows Tymen a small food-like object, which he proceeds to eat.
Alonso says, "Very spicy."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna asks, "'allo? Can you hear me now?"
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Yo."
(From G_M) Strange (to Reggie): Well, I like to think I know the people here better than most. I know, for example, that before the night is out, Colonel Abernethie will have disappeared into his liquor cabinet and leave his adjutant to deal with the rest of the party.
Brianna says, "rrr. trying again."
Tymen says (to Alonso), "No... but I did try those." He points. "And I think that's more than enough spice for me for the time being, thank you.""
(From G_M) Abernethie: (to Brianna) I'm afraid I don't know the ship. First voyage out here?
Tymen looks around. "Did you see the wine? I could use a drink."
Alonso says, "The table over here. It's spiced as well."
G_M says, "There is a punch bowl."
Sara arrives, looking for booty.
Brianna has disconnected.
(From G_M) Abernethie: (to Brianna) Ah, Emilio did mention something of the sort. I don't see them around, though.
Reginald says (to Strange), "Ah! I certainly enjoy a dram or two, from time to time. It's quite the quaint city. I wonder how the Colonel came to be posted here."
Brianna has connected.
[Crows-Nest] Sara says, "Sorry; Brianna's connection is being wacky."
Brianna has disconnected.
Tymen frowns at Alonso. "Ah. What a quaint custom."
(From G_M) Strange: Ah, he's part of the Avalon effort, don't you know. He and Captain Corley over there. There's a lot of profit in this region if you know how to look.
Alonso eats another spicy...something. "I think I could get used to it."
Brianna has connected.
Tymen fills a cup, then sniffs it. And samples it carefully.
[Crows-Nest] G_M says (to Sara), "Okay...."
G_M says (to Tymen), "The punch is actually pretty weak in terms of alcohol."
Reginald says (to Strange), "Yes, it would seem to be ripe of potential. I imagine the locals are competent enough, with someone to look over them."
[colonial] Tymen asks, "What about in terms of other things?"
(From G_M) Strange: Oh, you'd be surprised.
[colonial] G_M says, "Heh. Not too spicy, either."
Tymen drinks it down quickly. "Well. Not too bad, I guess."
(From G_M) Strange: Now, I collect things. And knowing the people helps to know what's valuable and what isn't.
Reginald says (to Strange), "Indeed, I dare say the city is full of surprises. I'm a botanist by trade; quite the interesting selection of flora in these parts. Pity the cows seem to be chewing most of them flat."
Reginald presses the side of his nose with his finger.
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "There we go."
Reginald says (to Strange), "Mmmhmm, yes, quite so."
(From G_M) Strange: Ah, the holy cows. You could get stoned if you tried anything funny on them.
[Crows-Nest] G_M says (to Brianna), "Yay"
Reginald says (to Strange), "Try something 'funny' with a cow? My dear."
Reginald says (to Strange), "But I admit that very little of anything religious surprises me very much any more."
(From G_M) Strange: Now, if it's flora you're interested in ... I'm afraid I don't deal much with that. I prefer artifacts of the sort that can be transported without fear of them dying.
Tymen fills his cup again, before drifting away to mingle as best he can.
Alonso samples his way down the buffet table.
Reginald says (to Strange), "Mmm, yes; it is a bit of a challenge. Well, perhaps I should introduce you to the rest of my collegues. They're rather into the artifact side of things, I suspect."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna asks, "Did I miss anything of interest?"
G_M says (to Tymen&Alonso), "You can hear what's passing between Roger and Dr Strange, by the way...."
Tymen sidles up to Reginald, as if on cue.
Tymen asks, "Good evening. Reginald, and...?"
Reginald says, "Ah, yes; allow me to introduce the good Tymen Garetson, a good stout man. Tymen, this is Dr. Ludovic Strange, collector."
Alonso looks up, noticing Tymen, Reginald, and his friend. "Hello!" He tries not to spray crumbs at the group.
[Crows-Nest] Sara says, "did I miss anything of note? I"m going to ahve to use an interface I'm not used to, so my spelling/grammer may deteriorate slightly."
Tymen proffers a hand. "Ah, my pleasure Dr. Strange. What an interesting name. Is it common around here?"
G_M says (to Brianna), "As you are talking to the Colonel, you hear a loud tramping sound coming up the road. Then this enormous grey creature with a tentacle where its nose should be, and huge tusks, comes ambling up."
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says, "Nothing so far. Tymen and I have exchanged opinions about the spices, and I've been eating."
Reginald says, "And Padre Alonso Reyes, who has been our saviour in more than the spiritual sense."
(From G_M) Strange: (to Tymen) No, I daresay it's a little strange.
Tymen chuckles politely.
Alonso says, "Pleased to meet you, sir."
Alonso says (to Strange), "Is it, then? I'm not familiar with it, but then, I'm not familiar with much aroun dhere."
(From G_M) Strange: The pleasure is all mine. Wait, look, the General is riding in....
Reginald turns, gasps.
Tymen follows the Doctor's glance.
Alonso says, "Goodness"
Tymen turns his head. "Is it the right way 'round? The tail seems to be at the front."
Reginald says, "If I had to worship something, that certainly seems a bit more deserving than cows."
Alonso says (to Tymen), "he seems to have two tails, in case one should fail him."
G_M says, "The huge creature stops by the gate and servants run to set a stepladder up at its side. There appears to be a small hut of some sort set on top of it. Out of the small hut comes a military-looking old man (native, turbanned, bearded) and the two women Alonso met earlier."
Alonso says, "How interesting. I think I met those two women."
Brianna stares at the creature.
(From G_M) Strange: Worship? It's a little complicated ... I'd explain it later if you're interested ... but anyway. That's General Vijay Jayakumar. The older woman behind him is his wife, Selvarathi. And the blonde woman is his other wife, Annika.
[Crows-Nest] Alonso asks, "Which wife do you mean, the wife or the wife?"
Reginald says (to Strange), "Two wives? Good Lord. He must be the unhappiest man alive."
Tymen says, "Ah. That seems far more practical an idea than two tails, at least."
[Crows-Nest] Alonso asks (of Tymen), "isn't it the same thing as two tails?"
[Crows-Nest] Tymen, conveniently, doesn't hear that.
(From G_M) Strange: Oh, he just married Annika a few months ago. But he's been married to Selva for years now ... they were matchmade when he was twenty.
Alonso asks, "Are the two wives together often?"
Reginald says, "No wonder some people are driven to drink, with this sort of thing."
(From G_M) Strange: Well, I don't pry into their affairs. I don't think Annika's too happy about the situation, though.
Brianna says, "Two wives? Much m ore convenient than having to hide one's mistress from one's wife, I suppose."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Wait until she finds out what happens when he dies."
Tymen asks (of Strange), "No?"
G_M says, "The General sees that his two wives are safely down, and then approaches Colonel Abernethie."
Reginald takes a peek to see if that Corley fellow is lurking about.
Alonso asks (of Strange), "Not happy?"
G_M says (to Reginald), "Corley is around, yes."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald waits with bated breath.
Tymen says, "Perhaps she wasn't informed of the arrangement ahead of time."
(From G_M) General: (in an official-sounding tone) Colonel Abernethie, my greetings. The Rajah sends his regards and his apologies, but he will be unable to attend your gathering....
(From G_M) Strange: I daresay she wasn't. (chuckling) Watch ... I give Abernethie fifteen minutes at most before he disappears back into the house.
[Crows-Nest] (from Reginald) The general says, "Thank you, come again."
Brianna says (to Strange), "Why is she unhappy? Not that I can't imagine a dozen reasons, of course, but if two-tailed beasts and two-wived husbands are commone here, I'm curious."
Tymen asks (of Strange), "This one, or the little on on top of the behemoth?"
Reginald says (to Strange), "You suspect Avalon is losing her foothold, here."
(From G_M) Strange: I think Annika's expectations were a little different. No-one told her about Selva because everyone assumed she'd know that a man like the General would be already married.
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "I was expecting a cheeseburger, but you don't hear me complaining."
Brianna says, "Poor girl. That must have been quite a shock."
Tymen says, "Hmm. You'd think she'd have noticed another woman running around the palace during the courtship."
(From G_M) Strange: (to Reginald) Avalon isn't losing anything, but she's not gaining anything either. Abernethie's been trying to get the Rajah down here for a personal informal meeting for ages ... I've told him before, as a military man, the people here class him as Kshatriya, and a Brahmin like the Rajah does not mix informally with Kshatriya.
Reginald says (to Tymen), "Women are quite good at not noticing other women running around, when they put their minds to it."
Alonso says (to Strange), "You sound like you understand this whole deal with castes and the like."
Brianna says (to Reginald), "I could say the same of men."
Reginald says (to Brianna), "You could."
(From G_M) Strange: I make it my business to study the local culture.
Eolo has connected.
Tymen asks (of Strange), "Koshtrija... that's, what, an officer?"
[Crows-Nest] Tymen asks (of Roger), "There he is, see?"
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Oh yeah."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says (to Brianna), "I guess I DIDN'T NOTICE HIM"
[Crows-Nest] Brianna laughs.
(From G_M) Strange: Warrior. It gets a little more in-depth and complicated.
Tymen says, "I've heard of things like that in places like Montaigne... noble classes, not wanting to get too close to anyone below them. It's all a bit of a show, if you ask me."
G_M says, "The General bows to Abernethie and proceeds into the party. He is talking with another native man. His wives wander by the buffet table."
(From G_M) Strange: It's more than show here. It's a rule. You have to take a bath after you touch someone of a lower caste.
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "It's not just a good idea -- it's THE LAW."
Brianna asks (of Strange), "So are we in any particular caste? What rules do they expect us to follow?"
Reginald says, "I suppose that explains why the city is segmented so clearly."
(From G_M) Strange: Oh, they're willing to give us the benefit of the doubt. In some cases, though, they make their own judgements. Such as with Abernethie.
Tymen says, "It sounds terribly inconvenient. If you keep many servants about the house, you'll never get your toes to unshrivel.""
Brianna asks (of Tymen), "Toes?"
Reginald says (to Brianna), "It's something that happens when you take a bath, you see."
Tymen says (to Brianna), "From all the bathing, you see."
[colonial] Tymen says (to Reginald), "Darn you."
[colonial] Alonso says, "heh"
Brianna says, "Oh, unwrinkle. I was pictureing these oddly stunted toes, you see."
[colonial] Reginald says, "Darn my upstagedness."
Reginald says, "Oh, I see."
Reginald bows. "Excuse me a moment."
Reginald walks over to the Colonel, if he's not already fled.
(From G_M) Strange: Now, if you'll excuse me, I see someone I really should have a few words with...
Tymen nods to Reginald, then turns back to Dr. Strange. "So, Reginald tells us you're a c-- ah. Of course."
Alonso exclaims (at Strange), "Certainly!"
Reginald says (to Colonel), "Terrible spot of luck with that Raha person, eh what."
G_M says (to Reginald), "The Colonel has been edging closer to the house, but you catch him."
Tymen nods to the Doctor, then goes to refill his cup.
G_M says (to Tymen), "Strange is heading up towards this rather lost-looking individual."
[colonial] Tymen asks, "Can we hear them talking from here?"
Reginald says (to Colonel), "Must say I love what you've done with this place, though. Ah, takes me back to dear old Avalon, it does. Aye, what I wouldn't do for a wee spot of that old Scotch me pah used to slip me. But I digress."
[colonial] G_M says (to Tymen), "You can easily overhear anyone you want to."
(From G_M) Colonel: Yes...?
Tymen listens unobtrusively, then, while sampling something less dangerous-looking from the table.
G_M says (to Tymen), "You learn to avoid the meat products."
Alonso smiles and nods to people as he mingles, looking for interesting people to talk to.
G_M says (to Alonso), "Annika has been trying to catch your eye...."
Alonso moves to Annika and bows. "A pleasure to meet you again."
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "Colonel Fernandez speaks very highly of you, sir. Takes a better man than I to survive here for long, I suspect."
Brianna says (to Strange), "When will you be in your offices tomoroww? I neeed to acquire a bit olf local currency."
(From G_M) Annika: Yes. I'm sorry I couldn't speak to you much before ... I didn't want to be suspected of anything improper.
[colonial] Tymen says, "(I'm listening to Strange and the lost-looking fellow, BTW, not the colonel.)"
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Welcome to The Colonial Game, where it's all damsels in distress, all the time."
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says, "Careful, or Brianna could put you in some distress."
(From G_M) Strange: Well, Stanley, I daresay you'll find Maristella quite interesting. Under the new management, of course, I ... eh what? Oh, currency, is it?
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "Except one (at least most of the time ;-)"
Alonso says, "I understand. I'm a stranger here myself, and I'm not looking to offend anyone."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says (to Mis), "Heh."
(From G_M) Annika: It's ... oh, I suppose you know the story already.
Alonso says, "Actually, I'm not sure I do."
Brianna says, "Yes, currency. I need a few local coins. Nothing fancy."
(From G_M) Strange: What have you got?
Brianna says, "Some guilders, and a mix of a few other things. I don't need much."
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "Horrible last couple of winters in Avalon, actually. Makes me almost appreciate being south of the Tropic."
(From G_M) Annika: (glancing around, lowering her voice) I should tell you who I am. I'm Annika Grune, and I just married General Jayakumar a few months ago. Of course, I didn't know then that he was already married.
(From G_M) Abernethie: Well, you get used to it after a while.
Brianna says, "So what brought you here, Strange? It seems like quite an exotic posting."
Alonso asks, "How did you and the General meet?"
(From G_M) Strange: The exotic things, of course. I'm a collector of Rare and Unusual Things, as Dr Stanley here could probably tell you.
[Crows-Nest] Tymen asks, "Dr. Stanley isn't a newspaper man, is he?"
(From G_M) Annika: Oh, I just got off the ship from Vendel -- you know that's the longest possible voyage -- and he seemed nice....
(From G_M) Annika: But I think I may have made a terrible, terrible mistake. I need to find a way out of this.
[Crows-Nest] (from Reginald) General says, "Hey baby. Wanna ride on my big elephant?"
Alonso asks, "Oh? What brought you down here?"
(From G_M) Stanley: Er, yes. Hm. I'm by way of being an explorer, myself.
Brianna asks (of Strange), "Oh, really? That sounds fascinating. What sorts of things?"
(From G_M) Annika: Well, it looked like an interesting place to see.
[Crows-Nest] Reginald is going to give up on the narcoleptic Colonel before too much longer.
(From G_M) Annika: I think I could get out of this, if I could get the General and Selva -- that's his other wife -- to agree to let me go.
(From G_M) Annika: I can handle the General, but Selva's a different story. She won't listen because I'm just another woman, and a second wife at that.
Alonso says, "Interesting."
[Crows-Nest] G_M says, "Oop, sorry."
Alonso says, "I'd think she wouldn't be all that interested in having you stay."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "No worries; I'm just amusing myself; I know you're juggling a lot of balls right now."
(From G_M) Abernethie: (evidently making an effort) So, how are you enjoying yourself so far?
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "It's been, well, quite the experience. My compliments to your chef; the food is very... unique."
(From G_M) Annika: It turns out this sort of thing is normal around here. But I know Selva ... sooner or later she'll want to be alone, and she'll wander off to the flower garden to get away from the crowd. Perhaps you could speak to her for me then?
(From G_M) Annika: Please?
Alonso says, "I can certainly try, assuming she'll listen to an outsider."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald cries, because he doesn't even know about the flower garden.
(From G_M) Annika: It's better than no-one.
[colonial] Tymen says, "Hrm. I take it the Strange/Stanley conversation ended when Brianna walked up."
(From G_M) Abernethie: Well, I try to make things pleasurable for my guests.
Alonso says, "I'll do what I can, my child."
(From G_M) Abernethie . o O (You try and you try and you try....)
Tymen looks for anyone with a crowd listening to them.
(From G_M) Annika: Thank you ever so much. I'd kiss you, but that would be rather improper.
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "Mmm. Quite the shame that this Raha fellow couldn't make it, eh what."
Alonso smiles. "But thank you for the thought."
(From G_M) Abernethie: I say, I don't suppose you care for something a little stronger than the punch?
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "Well, now that you mention it, I do find myself a bit parched in these tropical climes."
Alonso bows again to Annika.
[Crows-Nest] Reginald whines to the DM, "Am I getting DRUNK yet???"
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Cmon, roll some dice."
G_M says (to Tymen), "There's Brianna, Strange and Stanley. There's Governor Fernandez and his friends. The Bishop is mingling, pretty much by himself. Abernethie and Reggie are heading into the house. Corley is not very far behind them."
[colonial] Tymen asks, "Who's Corley?"
(From G_M) Abernethie leads Reggie into the house and straight to the liquor cabinet.
[colonial] Reginald says (to Tymen), "You heard Strange tell me that Captain Corley was posted here with the Colonel."
[colonial] Alonso says, "Which reminds me: I should say hello to the Bishop."
Alonso meanders Bishop-wards.
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "Lovely selection you have here, Colonel."
Brianna continues chatting it up with Strange about his amazing collection of rare and valuable things, and trading anecdotes about the places they've seen.
(From G_M) Abernethie: I do my best. Here, scotch, is it?
[colonial] Tymen nods.
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "Ah, splendid. I'll take this over huge grey beasts any day."
Tymen wanders towards Stanley, then, since Brianna seems to be keeping his previous companion busy.
G_M says (to Brianna), "Strange hasn't been to a lot of the places around here, but he evidently manages to get his hands on a lot of things through his contacts with explorers."
Tymen says (to Stanley), "Evening."
(From G_M) Stanley: Oh, evening.
[colonial] Tymen asks, "Is he Avalon? Or something else?"
Alonso says (to Bishop), "Good evening."
(From G_M) Abernethie hands Reginald a bottle. Captain Corley appears behind them and asks if he could borrow a bottle of rum, which Abernethie tosses over to him.
(From G_M) Stanley is apparently Avalon.
Reginald says (to Corley), "Ah, a rum man, is it. Thought I caught the look of something nautical about you."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna asks, "If Strange is giving me hints he'd rather not chat, I'll go chat with someone else. Selva maybe?"
(From G_M) Bishop: Ah, Alonso. How are you? Not too bored, I hope?
Tymen nods. "Odd beast the General arrived on earlier -- did you see it?"
Alonso says, "Not at all. This is most interesting."
Alonso says, "What with the man, his two wives, and the large beast with two tails."
[Crows-Nest] G_M says (to Brianna), "whatever you wish. Strange would admittedly be more interested if he could get you to do him a few favours."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "Ah, favours. I'd be happy to discuss them."
(From G_M) Bishop: ah, the elephant. Frightened me silly when I first laid eyes on it.
Alonso asks, "elefant, eh?"
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "This is how civilized countries work -- honest men relaxing with a drink in their hand, deciding the important issues of the day."
(From G_M) Bishop: As for the general and his two wives ... well, that's just the sort of thing we'd like to put a stop to around here.
Alonso asks, "Mmm, any luck doing so?"
(From G_M) Abernethie: Some people evidently aren't interested in behaving in a civilised manner.
G_M says, "(Corley slips out of the house with the bottle of rum)"
Tymen looks at Stanley again, shrugs.
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "Mmm, quite so! My, this is rather fine. Ah, well, what can you do. If men should not be civilized, then they shall have civilization thrust upon them! Mmmhey."
(From G_M) Bishop: Not hugely. Your friend the other Alonso does his part down in Maristella, and Marie-Celestine does hers over at Lacathe, but otherwise there's little evangelical work.
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Let's not get on a ship with Marie-Celestine."
(From G_M) Stanley: Oh, yes. Elephant. Apparently they ride them like horses here.
Alonso nods.
Tymen says, "Mmm? My. Must be difficult to make saddles for them."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Srivijaya, where the horses are huge, the cows are gods, and the wives are many."
Tymen says, "And I can't imagine a feedbag tht would fit over a face like that."
Alonso says, "What do they think of us, then? I'm curious as to where they slot us in their hierarchy."
(From G_M) Bishop: As religious officials and learned men, we are regarded as perhaps the highest of men here. You'll notice no-one's come to speak to me yet ... mainly because they're afraid of me.
Tymen asks (of Stanley), "Have you been around here long, then?"
(From G_M) Stanley: Their noses ... trunks, you know ... are prehensile. They don't need feeding bags.
(From G_M) Stanley: I just got here a week ago.
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "If only we had a few more PCs, we could give Mis a total nervous breakdown as he tries to juggle half a dozen conversations all at once."
(From G_M) Abernethie settles down to drink.
Tymen says, "Ah, convenient... probably makes up for not having hands..."
Reginald strolls about the room, taking it in.
[Crows-Nest] G_M says, "And then the planet Amora falls on Reginald. Just Reginald, no-one else."
Alonso says (to Bishop), "Interesting. Must make it difficult to get converts."
Tymen says (to Stanley), "So how do you find the islands? Climate certainly seems nice, so far."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "Aieee"
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says, "If we had a few more PCs, he could have seated us all at different tables."
(From G_M) Stanley: I've been told that the rainy season is something quite terrific.
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says (to Tymen), "and grouped us to make life easier"
Tymen asks, "Oh?"
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says (to Tymen), "just to come up with a hypothetical approach"
(From G_M) Selva is wandering over towards the side of the house now, away from the crowd.
Reginald asks (of Abernethie), "Where's the good captain off to, then? Too good to drink with the likes of us, mere, erm, shitreya?"
[Crows-Nest] Brianna asks, "was Strainge interested in discussing favours?"
[Crows-Nest] G_M asks (of Brianna), "Yes. Were you?"
[Crows-Nest] Tymen says (to Alonso), "An excellent approach. And novel, as well."
Alonso says (to Bishop), "Pardon me for a second. There's someone I wanted to talk to."
(From G_M) Abernethie: I don't know where he's gone. I don't really care.
G_M says, "(Actually, Corley is busily spiking the punch.)"
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "I assumed as much."
[colonial] Tymen asks, "Does Stanley have a cup?"
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "Mmm. A man in your position must have much on his mind."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says (to Tymen), "Kick him in the groin and find out."
Tymen says (to Stanley), "You must be thirsty. Let me fill you a cup."
[colonial] G_M says (to Tymen), "Yes, he has a coffee mug with the name "STANLEY" on it. It's the Stanley Cup."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "sure. it sounded intriguing."
[colonial] Tymen says, "Hee."
Tymen also takes the opportunity to get himself a refill, now that it's been 'punched up', so to speak.
Alonso follows Selvarathi.
(From G_M) Strange: Now, you and your friends look like an enterprising bunch. And seeing as how you're done with your commission with the Governor, you might be able to help me out.
Tymen asks (of Stanley), "So, you're friends with Dr. Strange, right?"
(From G_M) Strange: You know, of course, that this city's at the mouth of a bay ... the Vedadeva Bay, and it's forbidden to outsiders. There's an island on it, and only the priests go there ... and the soldiers who patrol the bay looking out for intruders.
(From G_M) Stanley: Not friends, exactly, no. I was told he'd be the person to contact when I got here.
Tymen nods, "Oh, ah? A sort of business partner, then?"
G_M says, "Meanwhile, Selva's sitting in the garden at the side of the house, fanning herself."
G_M says, "BUT"
[colonial] Alonso pulls up short!
G_M says (to Alonso), "Before you get there, a man (tall, blond, small blond moustache) steps out from behind the bushes and wraps his arms around her. She squawks in surprise but before she can scream, he plants his lips on hers."
Brianna says (to Strange), "Oh, really? Please do go on."
(From G_M) Stanley: You could say that. His interest in the Rare and Unusual is quite natural, I suppose ... but to be honest, I'm not sure I feel comfortable with him.
Tymen asks (of Stanley), "Oh? Why's that?"
Alonso moves to where he'll not be seen, but where he can see.
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says, "I use my power of Paths to do a ghost miracle bending light around me..."
(From G_M) Strange: (to Brianna) Now ... I've heard it said that there's a certain artifact on that island. Something they call the "Well of Souls".
Brianna asks, "Well of Souls? do yo know mucha about it?"
G_M says (to Alonso), "Annika, a burly turbanned soldier-type and another native woman appear to have been almost behind you when turned the corner."
(From G_M) Strange: I believe it's a large ruby, the size of a plover's egg.
Brianna exclaims, "A plover's egg?! That is immense!"
(From G_M) Strange: Some drawings show it as the eye of an idol, presumably an idol in the temple on the forbidden island.
Alonso says (to Annika), "Ah, um, hello! Again."
Brianna asks, "What is it for? Why keep a priceless gem loccked away on an island?"
(From G_M) Annika: Oh my! Selva!
G_M says, "The blond kissing bandit looks up, drops Selva and dashes off into the bushes."
[colonial] Tymen says, "Mrm. Guess the punch isn't really loosening Stanley's tongue much."
[colonial] Alonso asks, "What's Selva doing?"
G_M says, "Selva begins screaming something in her native tongue. The turbanned soldier-type is shouting back at her. Annika and the other native woman turn and run back to the party."
Alonso says, "Oh dear."
G_M says (to Reginald), "You're hearing shouting from outside. You're a little tipsy by now, but you're pretty sure it's not the alcohol."
(From G_M) Strange: Why does anything of value get locked up in impenetrable vaults and temples? Hm, what's all that shouting?
(From G_M) Stanley: ...something about Strange makes me uncomfortable. I'm not sure what.
Reginald says (to Abernethie), "Oh dear."
Reginald staggers out of the house and back to the party, such as it is.
Tymen nods. "Are you in the collecting business as well?"
[colonial] Alonso asks, "Did she seem happy to see the kissing bandit? Surprised? Shocked?"
(From G_M) Stanley: Me? No. What is all that racket?
Brianna asks (of Strange), "The party had sufficient guards, did it not? What could cause that ckind of commotion?"
[colonial] G_M says (to Alonso), "You'd think she was taken completely by surprise."
Tymen glances over. "Couldn't say..."
Alonso tries to follow the kissing bandit.
[colonial] G_M says (to Alonso), "Hard to tell if she was happy or not."
Tymen says, "Probably none of our business, I suspect."
G_M says, "Two women come running in from around the side of the house. One of them, the native one, runs up to the General and begins speaking excitedly to him."
Tymen asks, "So, what business is it you're in, then?"
Brianna says (to Strange), "Excuse me for a moment" Brianna heads in the direction of the ruckus."
(From G_M) Stanley (a little distracted): Archaeology. Although right now I'm on a, uh, grant from the Avalon government.
Tymen asks, "Oh? Are you here to study the local ruins?"
[colonial] Tymen asks, "Does he appear just distracted by the commotion, or by something else?"
G_M says (to Alonso), "The soldier-type begins walking over to Selva, who shies away from him."
[colonial] Alonso says, "Thank goodness *one* of you is interested in the trouble I managed to get into."
G_M says, "People are moving at various speeds around towards the commotion."
(From G_M) Stanley: Er, yes.
Brianna approaches Alonso. "What did you cause this time?" and winks.
Alonso asks (of Selva), "Madam, I am Brother Alonso Reyes; we met earlier. I saw what happened. May I be of assistance?"
[colonial] Tymen says, "Yeah, yeah. You're a priest. No one's gonna lock you up; nothing to worry about."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "afk"
(From G_M) Selva: They are accusing me of meeting a lover here! It is not true! I was attacked!
Tymen says, "Sounds interesting... I've heard say there are all sorts of ancient sorts of things in these parts. Lost civilizations, and all that."
[Crows-Nest] Reginald says, "I've got to go now; good game, Mis. Thanks everyone."
Reginald goes home.
(From G_M) Stanley smiles. "Oh yes. And then the maps aren't exactly complete, are they.
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "back."
Brianna asks (of Alonso), "What's going on?"
G_M says, "The General pushes his way to the front of the crowd."
Tymen says, "Ah -- hey, if you're putting together an expedition, and need someone familiar with valuable relics -- jewelled idols and golden masks and such -- I'd be interested in coming along..."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "hee hee"
(From G_M) Stanley: I'll definitely keep you in mind.
[Crows-Nest] Alonso says (to Tymen), "heh"
Alonso says (to Selva), "I can speak to what I saw, though I am not sure exactly what happened."
G_M says, "Selva glances at Alonso and begins to say something. Then the soldier-type begins speaking in a loud voice (you recognise that announcement-type tone)."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna asks, "I need to go soon, also. Are we near a good wrap-up point?"
[Crows-Nest] G_M says, "Yes."
Alonso looks for someone who can translate for him.
(From G_M) Strange (to Brianna): Oh my. Now this I did not expect.
Eolo has disconnected.
Tymen listens.
Alonso asks (of Strange), "Aha, you certainly understand. What are they saying?"
G_M says (to Alonso), "Strange is right behind Brianna."
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "afk ellarm"
(From G_M) Strange: They're arresting Selvarathi Jayakumar for adultery.
(From G_M) Strange: I didn't think the woman had it in her.
Alonso exclaims, "But she -- that is, I don't think he -- it all happened so fast!"
(From G_M) Strange: Well, unless you can prove anything otherwise, I pity the poor woman.
[Crows-Nest] Brianna says, "back again. he was distraught because he couldn't get to his Daddy. :-)"
Tymen shakes his head. "She should have just gotten a second husband."
Alonso asks (of Strange), "Uh, why? What will they do to her?"
(From G_M) Strange: The punishment for adultery is stoning.
Alonso says, "Well, there we go."
Alonso says, "I don't like a man having two wives, but I'm not fond of getting rid of one of them by stoning."
Alonso says, "I saw the man jump out of the bushes and kiss Selvarathi. She looked surprised."
Alonso asks, "Did anyone see where the man who was with her went?"
Tymen asks, "Does that make him an adulterer, as well?"
(From G_M) Strange: Well, unless you can prove she wasn't meeting a lover (and apparently some people insist that is what they saw) they'll be stoning her at the Lover's Post tomorrow morning.
G_M says, "<end>"
[colonial] Alonso says, "my"
[colonial] Tymen says, "Good show."
[colonial] Alonso says, "And now we have URGENT BUSINESS"
[colonial] Tymen exclaims (at Alonso), "Yeah. The size of a *plover's* egg? Woo!"
[colonial] Alonso exclaims, "You and your mercantile heart! A woman's life is in danger!"
[colonial] Alonso resolutely does not think what kind of a mission a gem that size could fund.
[Crows-Nest] Brianna exclaims, "yipes. priorities!"
[colonial] Tymen says, "It's simple. We just kidnap Selva and take her with us."
[colonial] Tymen says, "At some point, she will surely demonstrate some previusly unrealized talent which will save the day."
[colonial] Alonso says, "or you can barter her for the gem."
[colonial] Tymen says, "Thereby earning her a share in the profits, which she can use to covertly acquire passage to mainland Theah, where she'll be safe."
[colonial] Alonso says, "maybe we can take the elefant"
[colonial] Alonso says, "Surely it would be good for something."
[colonial] Alonso says (to G_M), "Anyway, good game."
[colonial] Tymen says, "Yeah."
[colonial] G_M says, "thanks."
[colonial] G_M asks, "So, same time next week?"
[colonial] Alonso says, "Works for me"
[colonial] Tymen says, "Sure."
[colonial] Alonso says, "though I may have to end a little early for sleep"
[colonial] Tymen asks, "Should we marks anything down in terms of DD/XP or anysuch?"
[Crows-Nest] Brianna asks, "sorry, I[ve been gone. Ellric is melting down. Sorry! Got to go. Same time next week?"
[Crows-Nest] Alonso exclaims, "Yup!"
[colonial] G_M says, "Well, whatever drama dice you got from the beginning of this session turn into experience."
[colonial] Tymen asks, "That was two DD, right?"
[Crows-Nest] Brianna exclaims, "L8R!"
Brianna goes home.
[colonial] G_M says, "Right"
[colonial] Tymen says, "(I'm just trying to keep tidy bookkeeping this time, since I kept such untidy bookkeeping in previous games.)"
[colonial] Alonso says, "That works for me"
Alonso has disconnected.
