Constantin says, "Semprini!"

Constantin laughs, "Ho hohn!"

[early_musketeers] Game_Master says, "um, either way. I'm not expecting to talk on #crows any"

Andres wonders how he could sneak a flask onto duty.

Constantin says, "I hope this game starts before I lose my energy!"

Game_Master exclaims, "I am here!"

Valentin exclaims, "Arr!"

Constantin says (to Andres), "Strap it to the inner arm, lad..."

Game_Master says, "now then, to refresh everyone's memories"

Constantin says, "Zounds!"

Valentin says, "This is much more interesting than herding cows."

Game_Master says, "you are all musketeers in the regiment of de la Fleur"

Constantin says, "I have a memory like an iron trap, sir!"

Game_Master says, "as regiments go, this one's fortunes are on a bit of a down-turn in recent days -- the war with Castille has made the military fashionable, and de la Fleur has always emphasized individual action over group training, and the flexible over the strict adherence to form"

Constantin says, "But of course."

Game_Master says, "to say nothing of the fact that de la Fleur has a bit of a reputation for attracting, ah, oddballs and eccentrics (present company excepted, of course)"

Andres says, "Damn straight."

Constantin asks, "I think he means us, n'est-ce pas?"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Er.. timing."

Game_Master says, "regardless, though, you are all musketeers, and as such, have as much honor as any man"

Game_Master says, "and this, your first assignment, is the perfect chance to prove it to be so"

Valentin exclaims, "Parbleu, I'll run any man through who insults the regiment!"

Constantin asks, "Our first? So we are all new recruits?"

Game_Master says, "you have rode for a half-week or so to reach your goal, the city of Rayure."

Game_Master says (to Constantin), "newly-graduated, yes"

Game_Master says, "although of course many have people have a certain amount of, ah, life-experience before entering training as a musketeer"

Andres says, "Pah. The 'training' was as much use as a Cathay cow."

Game_Master says, "you stand outside the city gates, near the head of a long trail of people waiting to enter the city. you are instructed to seek out Commander Bron, head of the Rayure, and submit yourself to his orders for the next four weeks"

Valentin says (to Andres), "Don't know much about Cathay, monsieur, but I'm sure their cows can never make cheese like ours!"

Constantin asks, "Head of _the_ Rayure? I thought Rayure was a city?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "er, sorry, head of the Rayure guard"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "Ah."

Andres says (to Constantin), "They have taken the Vaticene metaphor of 'one body' a bit literally, I'm afraid."

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "The Guard of the Stripe?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "Is that what Rayure means?"

Game_Master says, "the line advances, bringing you up to the gates. ahead, each traveller or merchant confers with a gate guard before being allowed entrance"

Andres wishes he knew any French at all.

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Oui monsieur."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "D'accord merci."

Game_Master says, "the line advances again."

GateGuard says, "please state your name and business, sirs"

Constantin asks, "Is there any gossip we should extract from the guards?"

Valentin says (to GateGuard), "We are musketeers, sir, come to serve with the Garde de la Rayure!"

Valentin says (to GateGuard), "I am Valentin Garou, at your service."

Constantin says (to GateGuard), "We are of the de la Fleur regiment."

Andres says (to Guard0234), "Andres de Evry.We are musketeers. You are not. Stand aside."

GateGuard says, "ah. de la Fleur."

GateGuard asks, "well, very good, sir. do you wish directions to the guard headquarters?"

Constantin says, "Indeed so."

Valentin says (to GateGuard), "That would be a kindness."

GateGuard says, "continue on west through the gate, along the main street, past the bank, it is on the left. you cannot miss it -- it is right before the stables."

Constantin says (in aside to Andres and Valentin), "Should we ask this guard if he knows anything of this Commander Bron?"

Andres asks (of Guard), "And how does thewhether at Headquarters?"

GateGuard says, "the weather, sir? it is indoors"

GateGuard scratches his head.

Valentin says (in aside to Constantin), "If you think it wise. I am merely anxious to arrive."

Andres shakes his head sadly.

Constantin asks (of GateGuard), "My comrade means, sir, how are things? Is Commander Bron a good leader?"

Valentin says (to Constantin), "I'm sure a leader of musketeers can be nothing but of the best."

Constantin says (to Valentin), "Oh, I am sure."

GateGuard says, "sir, I hardly like to speak ill of my commanding officer, especially one only six months in this position"

Constantin asks (of GateGuard), "Speak ill?"

Constantin says, "I note that he did not affirm that Bron is a good leader. Hmmmm."

GateGuard says, "sir, you must excuse me -- I must continue collecting the festival tax from those who wish to enter"

Constantin says (to GateGuard), "Never mind, good sir. Good day!"

GateGuard steps away, back to the line of people.

Constantin says, "Let us onward."

Valentin says, "Aye, comrade."

Constantin asks, "Now it was left at the bank, then forward, or right at the... ?"

Andres says (to Constantin), "How very astute of you!"

GateGuard says (to RandomMerchant), "a pistole per head, one-twelfth of your merchandise for your goods"

Constantin stares around, trying to orient himself by the sun.

Valentin says, "Down the main street."

Valentin says, "West,"

Valentin says, "past the bank. I remember the directions."

Valentin leads the way through the gate.

Constantin follows.

Valentin asks (of GameMaster), "How looks the town?"

Game_Master says, "the town is busy"

Constantin asks (of GameMaster), "The villagers, do they look content or downcast?"

Andres folows no one. He walks beside.

Constantin says (to Andres), "I follow to guard the rear, of course."

Game_Master says, "currently the streets are open enough to let you ride your horses along, if you so desire, but you can tell within a few days that will no longer be the case"

Constantin coughs and pretends to look watchful.

Constantin asks, "The streets will be busier in a few days?"

Valentin asks (of Game_Master), "Is it market-time, to bring so many people to town?"

Game_Master says, "most of the people appear to be travellers, visitors, and farmers, with plentiful supplies of merchants, salesmen, drunks, jugglers, musicians, mimes, pickpockets, and the like to sell them things, entertain them, or steal from them"

Valentin continues down the main street, watching for the bank.

Constantin says, "Watch your pockets, lads."

Game_Master says (to Valentin), "indeed -- you have been posted here to assist the city with their policing during their annual harvest festival"

Constantin shoos away an enterprising ragamuffin.

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Eeagh! No Mimes!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "Sir, I'll remind you that I was once a street performer!"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Will we battle the evil Marcel Marceau?"

Game_Master says, "(not that a musketeer would suffer the term 'police' to be used to describe them)"

Andres says, "The bold gendarmes, no doubt."

Constantin asks, "Why should a harvest festival require the services of the de la Fleur musketeers?"

Valentin says, "We should be drawing nigh to the bank and headquarters, gentlemen."

Constantin says, "We have trained for more than this!"

Game_Master says, "eventually you reach the bank and thence the headquarters, having walked past a man selling fried-things-onna-stick, another walking on his hands, two men selling brightly colored beads, another selling wine, and lots and lots of crowds"

Game_Master says, "a guard stands outside the headquarters"

Constantin says, "Ahoy!"

Andres says, "Perhaps we should not question out ordersuntil we similarly do not wish to speak illof Commander Bron."

Valentin says (to HQ_Guard), "Greetings, monsieur!"

Constantin says (to Andres), "Your words are slightly garbled, my friend."

Constantin says (to Andres), "But I assure you, I will say nothing more of it."

EntryGuard asks, "allo -- do you wish to see the commander?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin giggles.

Valentin says (to HQ_guard), "We are musketeers of de la Fleur, here to serve under commander Bron!"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "My space bar has trouble. Just deal with it guys otherwise I'll always be late."

Constantin says (to EntryGuard), "It is so, Sir!"

EntryGuard says, "he is inside, sirs -- third door on the right."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "Okay."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "It seems I'm the sort to use many exclamation points."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Also, why isn't semicolon working"

EntryGuard stands aside to let you enter.

[late_musketeers] Constantin says (to Valentin), "Both of us."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "It comes from trying to portray enthusiasm and energy."

Valentin says (to Entry_Guard), "Thank you, watchful guardian!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "well, it's acting and stuff so I think it's okay"

Constantin says (to EntryGuard), "Good day!"

EntryGuard says, "very good, sir."

Constantin steps inside.

Valentin follows.

Constantin looks around.

Andres enters sans exclamation.

Valentin finds the third door. "Shall we knock, messieurs?"

Game_Master says, "it seems relatively small but well-built. there is, as promised, a third door on the right-hand side which is open a crack."

Constantin asks, "Is it impolite to listen first at the door?"

Valentin says (to COnstantin), "That would be ignoble, sir, to spy at the door of an officer."

Andres says (to Constantin), "Yes."

Andres listens, not at, but near the door.

Giovanna has disconnected.

Constantin says, "You are right, it is not honorable."

Valentin says (to Constantin), "Though I am certain you meant no harm."

Constantin says, "Perhaps just a few moments of standing here silently would not be improper."

Constantin says, "In ... prayer, of course."

Constantin bows his head.

Game_Master says, "there is the faint sound of paper rustling (from both sides of the hallway, now that you listen), and muffled cursing from behind the right-hand door"

Constantin asks, "...Amen. Well lads, shall we knock?"

Andres knocks.

Constantin straightens his garments.

Constantin puffs out his chest, chin up.

Bron exclaims, "don't just stand outside there, come in!"

Andres opens the door.

Constantin says, "D'oh."

Constantin says (to Andres), "After you."

Andres enters.

Valentin enters.

Bron is working at his desk, flipping through papers and making notes. He appears unshaven, harassed, and cranky.

Constantin enters and shuts the door (slightly ajar) behind him.

Valentin bows to Commandant Bron.

Bron looks you up and down, taking in the design of the flower on your tabards.

Bron says, "ore of de la Fleur's boys, eh? Well, I always say, if you see a recruit and they're as green as new apples and don't know which end of their blade is up, they're sure to be from de la Fleur."

Constantin scans around for objects that might be used as improvised weapons, just for future reference.

Valentin says (to Bron), "Commandant, we are here to lay our swords at your service."

[late_musketeers] Bron asks, "er, more?"

Constantin bows.

Bron asks, "sit down, sit down. do I have to tell you everything?"

Bron says, "I don't expect any of you know what you're supposed to be doing here, so let me spell it out. Every year in Rayure the farmers come from all 'round to sell their harvest and buy tools for next year. There's trading, dancing, performing, that kind of thing. I'm sure it doesn't compare to the fancy parties you're used to, but it'll do."

Constantin sits.

Andres says, "I would prefer to remain on my feet."

Valentin sits.

Bron asks (of Andres), "boy, am I your commanding officer, or do you wish to be clapped in irons?"

Constantin pretends to adjust his seat and gives a quick scan to the desk.

Andres says, "Hm. Apparently you do have to tell us everything."

Andres eyes the chairwith contempt and delicatelyrestshis ass upon it.

Bron's desk is mostly covered in papers. There are also some books, paperweights, and the like.

Bron says, "as I was saying -- of course that means we get pick-pockets, performers, travellers, thugs, drunks, merchants, vagrants, actors, con-men, the works. I was hoping to get somebody other than de la Fleur, but that's life for you. Luckily there's a half-dozen more regiments here already so it ain't as bad as it could be."

Constantin asks, "Books? Ledgers? Journals?"

Bron says, "your job will to be to survey the city, locate miscreants, and bring them to justice"

Valentin says (to Bron), "We shall not fail, sir!"

Bron says, "you will also settle disputes, solve problems, and uphold the honor of the musketeers"

Constantin says, "Any special type of miscreant? There are many miscreants."

Constantin says, "If you wish us to chase every apple-cart thief in Rayure, we shall, but..."

Bron says (to Constantin), "well -- perhaps as a first assignment, you could investigate the reports I was receiving of some irregularities with the tax collected at the west gate"

Constantin says, "The west gate? That is the gate we entered the city."

[late_musketeers] Bron says, "(no, you entered at the east gate)"

Valentin says (to Constantin), "I believe we entered at the east gate."

[late_musketeers] Bron says, "(hence the street led in west)"

Constantin asks, "Did we? Are you sure? Then left, and east at the bank...?"

Constantin tries to stare out the window and orient himself by the sun.

Bron says, "Jacques, across the hall, has arranged room and board for you."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Durn. My scathing irony was delayed by a RL conversation."

Bron says, "if you wish to leave your horses at the stables here, he will give you a chit for the stable-boys."

Bron asks, "any questions?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "even if delayed, if you've got a good line, say it"

Andres says (to constantin), "North at the bank."

[late_musketeers] (from Valentin) Andres says (to miscreant), "Come here, and taste my scathing irony!"

Constantin says (to Andres), "Of course."

Constantin stands.

Constantin bows.

Bron exclaims, "very well, then. you will report in once a week or when I send for you. dismissed!"

Constantin says, "It shall be our pleasure to serve, Monsieur Commander."

Andres says, "Weshall prtect the honor of the musketeers from all mimes and farmers who endanger it."

Valentin rises to his feet, and makes a sweeping box, somewhat clumsily.

Valentin says, "er, bow."

Constantin opens the door and exits.

Valentin exits

Andres rises and exits.

Constantin winks at Andres.

Jacques is across the hall, as promised.

Valentin says, "They are pleasant, these markets."

Constantin says, "Ho there! Jacques!"

Jacques looks as if he is shouted at a great deal.

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Is he going to tell us about the 7 ages of 7th Sea?"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Who's Jacques?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "the man who will put us up."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Ah."

Constantin says (to Jacques), "Accomodations for three, please sir."

Constantin says, "And we need a stable chit for our horses."

Jacques asks, "er, yes, yes -- you'd be the ones from de la Fleur, ah?"

Constantin says, "Of course!"

Constantin claps Jacques on the back.

Valentin says (to Jacques), "We are bold de la Fleur musketeers, honest and true!"

Constantin says, "Ha-ho!"

Jacques immediately begins hunting around through the paperwork on his desk (which completely buries the top, unlike Bron's desk)

[late_musketeers] Andres says (to Jacques), "And watch out, I have made careful measureof the leagues that this horse has traveled."

Jacques says, "ha ha! here we are -- a chit for each of you, and a letter"

Constantin idly runs a finger across some papers. "There is quite a lot of paperwork to do, it seems."

Andres says (to Jacques), "But monsieur, we hardly no each other!"

Jacques says, "we do not, I regret, have room for all of you at headquarters, so we have arranged accomodations for you around the city"

Valentin asks (of Jacques), "A letter, monsieur?"

Jacques says, "your room is at Grapes and Sixth -- anyone will show you the way"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Er.. know."

Constantin asks, "What letter is this?"

Jacques says, "give the letter to the landlady there as arranged"

Constantin reads his letter.

Constantin says, "Well, this is intolerable. It is not good for us to be split up each night."

[late_musketeers] Jacques says, "(it says, more or less "these are the musketeers who are staying at your house -- the rest of the payment will be arranged via the city in four week's time)"

Jacques says, "sirs, the house has several rooms"

Valentin says (to Jacques), "Ah, that is a better story!"

Constantin says, "Oh! Ho. Sorry! Sorry!"

Valentin asks, "Then, gentlemen, shall we not see to our mounts?"

Jacques says, "good, good"

Constantin says, "Let us away, yes."

Jacques blinks at his paperwork, then begins hunting through it again.

Valentin says (to Jacques), "Thank you for your pains, my good man."

Valentin heads for the door.

Constantin starts to walk the wrong way, then turns and follows Valentin.

Andres exits.

Constantin says, "No room for us at headquarters? Interesting."

Valentin says (to Constantin), "Monsieur, we must buy you a compass!"

Constantin says (to Valentin), "A compass? What do you mean!"

Valentin collects his horse, left tied up outside.

Constantin says, "I have a perfect sense of direction!"

Constantin says, "Always have!"

Andres says (to Constantin), "You shall be forced to give birth to the Prophet in the stables, monsieur."

Constantin collects his horse.

Game_Master says, "The stables are right next to headquarters, so it is but a brief walk"

Valentin leads his mount to the stables, chit in hand, and looks for a stable boy.

StableBoy asks, "did you wish to stable your mount, sir?"

Valentin says (to StableBoy), "Indeed, lad. Here is a chit for his lodgings."

StableBoy says, "thank you, sir."

Andres hands chit and reins to StableBoy without quite ever looking at him.

StableBoy leads the mount to an unused stall.

StableBoy says, "thank you, sir"

Valentin asks (of StableBoy), "He will receive nothing but the best of care, will he not?"

StableBoy leads Andres' mount to an unused stall.

StableBoy says (to Valentin), "of course, sir."

Constantin extends his chit to the StableBoy, but doesn't give it to him.

StableBoy asks (of Constantin), "sir?"

Andres says (to Constantin), "He needs that."

Constantin asks (of StableBoy), "Ho lad, what do you think of Commander Bron?"

StableBoy says, "his horse is very fine, sir"

Constantin says, "Good lad, good lad. Here's my chit."

StableBoy says, "thank you, sir"

StableBoy leads the last horse away to yet another unused stall.

[late_musketeers] Andres votes StableBoy best indiviual NPC.

Valentin says, "So, to lodgings!"

Constantin asks, "What time is it?"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Does one tip a stable boy?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "you arrived around noon, so it is just a bit after now"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "not if you're a musketeer"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "you could, it depends on how hoity-toity you are"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I considered it"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "I didn't. I'm not a very good nobleperson."

Constantin says, "We have an assignment."

Valentin hands a small coin to the boy. "He likes to be talked to, lad. And oats. He likes oats."

StableBoy exclaims, "thank you, sir!"

Valentin exits the stable.

Constantin exits the stable.

Andres leaves.

[late_musketeers] Constantin eats a 3 musketeers bar.

[late_musketeers] Game_Master asks, "so where to now? lodgings or gate?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "hee hee"

Valentin asks, "Sirs, shall we take our baggage to our lodgings, and then set to work?"

Valentin asks, "Or direct to the gate?"

Andres says, "It is always best to knowwhere one may be passing out, come eventime."

Constantin says, "Baggage to our lodgings."

Valentin says (to Andres), "Sir, I shall see that you make it home. Perchance lashed to the back of a mule."

Constantin says, "We should take time to assess the lodgings in terms of entrances and escape-exits, and any vulnerabilities it might have."

Valentin looks for passers-by to ask for directions.

Constantin says, "As a precaution."

Andres snorts. "There shall be no need for that. I have always passed out in extremely comfortable andappropriate locations.

Constantin says, "God willing, all shall be well."

RandomPasserby asks (of Valentin), "sir?"

Valentin asks (of random), "Where might we find 6th and Grapes, my good man?"

Andres asks (of RP), "Grapes and Smith?"

Constantin asks, "6th? Smith?"

Valentin says (to Andres), "Sixth, comrade. Not Smith."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "EEAGH! Ignore bad spelling!"

Constantin says, "Look, I know the way. Follow me."

Constantin starts to walk off to the south.

RandomPasserby says, "just up that way past the theater, then over a bit to the left -- you can't miss it"

Valentin thanks RP, then follows Constantin.

RandomPasserby is pointing north, of course.

Constantin says, "This way!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "okay, so eventually we get there."

[late_musketeers] (from Andres) trudge trudge trudge

Game_Master says, "discarding Constantin's directions, you do in fact eventually get there"

Valentin says (to Constantin), "Sir, the other way!"

Constantin says, "Oh? Ah! Of course."

Constantin asks, "How about I follow you from now on?"

Valentin examines the building. "What ho, lodgings!"

Constantin assesses the lodgings in terms of entrances and escape-exits, and any vulnerabilities it might have.

Andres says, "Ho lodgings? I believe that will be in a different part of town."

Game_Master has disconnected.

Game_Master has connected.

Game_Master has disconnected.

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "assuming that's possible"

Game_Master has connected.

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "(er, sorry, wrong plug)"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "hee"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Heh."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says (to GM), "To recap, we're having a look at the building."

Game_Master says, "anyway -- the house itself is nice but rather run-down. two stories, with a trellis over the front door."

[late_musketeers] (from Andres) Game_Master says, "I connected my DSL to my hair plugs."

Game_Master says, "there is a small patch of yard in the back"

Game_Master says, "although you can't see much more because of the fence"

Constantin asks, "Is that trellis climbable?"

Game_Master says, "probably, by someone sure-footed and not too heavy"

[late_musketeers] Andres says (to Stan), "So not you."

Constantin asks, "Which one of us has the letter?"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Stan?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Constantin), "Valentin does, I believe"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "I have to shorten your names somehow."

Valentin knocks at the door, letter in hand.

[late_musketeers] Andres asks (of Lenny), "You don't mind, do you?"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says (to Andres), "Call him Istanbul!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "but not constantinople"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "dang, saying the same joke"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I hate when I do that"

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Wait, is this an inn or a house?"

Valentin says, "Ho! We are musketeers, come to be lodged!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "some sort of house I think"

LandLady opens the door. "Yes?"

LandLady says, "ah, good, you're here"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "Don't call her a ho!"

[late_musketeers] LandLady says, "(it's a house)"

Valentin hands the letter to landlady

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "Also, we need to get over these Ho jokes"

LandLady reads it over. "Yes, yes, all in order."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "I'll show you boys around later, if you want."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Eeeagh, we're staying with Caoif!"

LandLady says, "if you care to step inside, I will show you the rooms"

Constantin says, "Thank you, madame."

Valentin enters.

Valentin tips his hat to LL.

Constantin follows Valentin.

Andres enters.

Constantin bows his head to the LandLady.

LandLady says, "there are two bedrooms on the bottom floor, with a main room with fireplace and table -- the girl will lay out a breakfast and cold supper for you, as arranged"

LandLady says, "the other meals you will have to find yourself"

Constantin asks, "Is there a wine cellar?"

LandLady says, "the third bedroom is upstairs, and that door leads out to the yard"

LandLady says (to Constantin), "sir, you appear to mistake me for a noblewoman"

Constantin says, "I shall take the upstairs room."

LandLady says, "although of course the kitchen has an area for storing a small collection"

Andres says (to Constantin), "Brother, we share something in common."

Constantin asks (of LandLady), "At what hour is supper served?"

LandLady says, "around 8pm, I believe"

Constantin says, "Excellent."

LandLady asks, "here are the keys -- any other questions?"

Constantin says, "You keep a charming establishment, madame."

Valentin says (to LL), "Thank you, that will do nicely."

Valentin says (to LL), "This is a pleasant house."

Andres says (to Landlady), "Is there a handy tavern? for when we are off duty, ofcourse."

LandLady says (to Constantin), "I try and keep a respectable house, yes. see that you don't damage the furniture, or I'll have it back double from the guards."

LandLady says (to Andres), "I am sure at festival-time there are taverns near on every block, sir"

LandLady says (to Andrew), "I believe the Grey Cat is much favored by the muskeeters, though"

Valentin asks (of Constantin), "[whispered aside] Shall we draw lots to see who carries him home?"

LandLady says, "it is south of the guardhouse a few blocks"

Andres says, "Good. I perceive they shall be necessary to our completion of our extremely engaging assignment."

Valentin says, "Well, then."

Constantin says (aside to Valentin), "Agreed."

Valentin takes a key, and heads for one of the downstairs rooms, tipping his hat to the landlady once more.

LandLady bustles out.

Constantin takes a key and heads for the upstairs room.

Andres goes to his room and arranges things, or something.

Constantin scans his room for possible improvised weapons, for future reference.

Valentin drops off his baggage, locks his room, and stows the key in his coin pouch.

Constantin also looks to see if he can exit from the upper-story window safely.

[late_musketeers] Andres asks (of Stan), "Don't you have a sword?"

Valentin asks (of Constantin), "Sir, do you think always of battle?"

LandLady says, "the upstairs room is a bit less-well-furnished than the others, and has windows over the front door and out back"

LandLady says, "the other two have a window on the front and a window on the back, respectively"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "Ha ha!"

LandLady says, "there are the usual chairs and dressers and bed and so on in every room"

LandLady says (to Constantin), "you could, as mentioned, probably climb down the trellis"

Andres looks around for anything interesting or unusual.

[7thsea] Andres rolls 3k3: 6 4 7 | 17

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "(I suppose I should switch back)"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Perhaps we should save looking under beds and behind pictures for another time."

Constantin says, "Two windows! I should remain alert when I sleep."

Game_Master says (to Andres), "there's nothing particularly note-worthy around the house"

Constantin unpacks and so forth, and then goes downstairs to wait for everyone else.

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Constantin), "you could move a dresser in front of the window, and barricade the other with the bed"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says (to GM), "good, okay."

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Which of us has the front room?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master asks, "do you actually want to do that?"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "I'll take the back."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "it'll play havoc with the pleasant fall breeze"

Constantin says (to Valentin), "Thinking always of battle has kept me alive to this day, sir."

Valentin asks (of Constantin), "Does it not suck the joy from life?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "No, only if I know specifically to go into full-defensive mode."

Valentin says (to Constantin), "It is far pleasanter to think of pretty girls to kiss!"

Andres says, "Thinking of wine, women and cetera has kept me alive."

Constantin says, "No, it makes every moment alive!"

Constantin sighs.

% You have new mail in /var/mail/lpsmith

Valentin asks, "Well. Shall we to the gate?"

Constantin says, "Just once to lose myself in a kiss, and not also be thinking about watching my back."

Andres says (to Stan), "If you arein trouble, I think it would suffice for you to give your assailant directions to any given place."

Constantin says, "To the... east gate? No wait, the west gate. West."

Constantin says, "I shall, as I promised, follow you."

Valentin heads to the west gate.

Andres says (to Stan), "Obviously, your goal should be to kiss your back. There are apparently skilled Vodacce women who can."

Valentin says (to Andres), "Heh."

Constantin laughs at his own expense.

Andres goes to the west gate.

Constantin asks, "Did I ever tell you fellows the story of when I was trapped for three days in a Castillian bordello?"

GateGuard is guarding the gate, while his two companions collect the festival taxes from the people entering (although there are less people entering as it gets towards evening)

Constantin says, "Oh, hello!"

Valentin asks, "Sirs, shall we observe the tax collection unseen?"

GateGuard says, "good afternoon, sir"

Constantin says (to Valentin), "A canny plan."

Constantin says, "But too late."

Valentin says (to Constantin), "Indeed."

Constantin says, "We are easily recognizable as musketeers."

Constantin says, "But I have brought disguises."

[late_musketeers] GateGuard exclaims (at Constantin), "you will have to shave your moustaches!"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Heh."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "No, I just wear a second false moustache over my real one!"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Or at least twirl them so fast they cannot be seen."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "hee hee hee"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, ">TWIRL MOUSKETEERACHE"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "ok, so what do we do here?"

Valentin says (aside) So, what shall we ask this guard?

Constantin asks, "How are we do to this?"

[late_musketeers] GateGuard says, "there was a musketeer from Beright / whose moustache moved faster than light"

Constantin says, "Andres is likely to be very direct, if that is the approach we want at this point."

Andres says (to Val,Stan), "The othe guard had no 'tax aides'."

Andres says, "Perhaps we should begin with they."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Err..them"

Valentin asks (of Guard), "Have many people entered today for market-time?"

Andres looks carefully at the Guard's companions.

RandomMerchant comes in from the gate, and begins arguing with the guard. The argument continues for some time, but the guard merely shrugs his shoulders, and eventually the merchant give up and storms off along the street, into the city.

GateGuard says (to Valentin), "indeed, sir, although not as many as we are expecting in days to come"

Andres quickly follows the RM to speak with him.

[7thsea] Miseri says, "Ook. I KNEW there was something I forgot...."

GateGuard says (to Valentin), "the festival does not officially begin for another half-week, and there are more entrants on every day until it begins"

RandomMerchant asks (of Andres), "yes, what is it?"

Constantin stands to one side and regards the general scene around him.

DiegoValdez has connected.

Andres asks (of RM), "I couldn't help notice your argument with the guard, could you tell me what it regarded?"

Valentin asks (of GateGuard), "And they all pay their taxes without overmuch dispute?"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says (to GM), "Sorry about the simultaneous conversations -- we're working you hard here."

RandomMerchant says (to Andres), "that man -- stabbing his finger towards the guard -- refused to listen to my complaints about the additional tax"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Also, I like an excuse to use words like 'overmuch'."

RandomMerchant says (to Andres), "I think it ridiculous that I should be expected to pay both outside the city and at the gate"

Andres asks (of RM), "Additional tax?"

Andres asks (of RM), "How do you mean?"

GateGuard says (to Valentin), "in general, sir, although of course there are always those who are unwilling; but this is the largest festival for six months and miles around, so they will pay or they will not enter"

RandomMerchant says (to Andres), "outside the city, perhaps fifteen minutes, there is an additional toll-bridge, charging a sol for every merchant"

RandomMerchant says (to Andres), "nonsense, I call it, but I had no choice but to pay"

Valentin asks (of GG), "Indeed. The tax is not, I trust, overly onerous?"

Constantin exchanges a glance with Andres.

Andres says (to RM), "Aha. I see. Thank you for your time. You may wish to lodge a formal complaint at the guard headquarters when time permits."

GateGuard says (to Valentin), "a pistole per head, and a twelfth-part of every merchants' goods -- I daresay they make it make ten times selling to the hapless tourists and country bumpkins who come to the festival"

Andres returns to the gate.

RandomMerchant exclaims (at Andres), "I certainly intend to! This is most unseemly behavior!"

Andres says (to Val,Stan), "I think I may have learned our problem."

Constantin asks, "I overheard some of it. What was this about a toll bridge?"

Constantin says, "(so that the guard doesn't hear)"

Valentin grits his teeth, having been one of the 'country bumpkins' in the past.

Andres says (to sv), "Apparently, someone has placed an additional 'tax station' about 15 minutes out."

Valentin says (to GG), "Thank you for the information, watchful one!"

Valentin asks (of Andres), "Indeed? The city guards? Or bandits?"

Constantin says, "The taxation is extraordinary. No wonder there is so much paperwork."

GateGuard says (to Valentin), "only too pleased to assist a musketeer, si"

GateGuard says, "r"

Andres says (to Val), "I do not know. But the merchants seem to believe it is the guard. It is unclear how easy that might be to accomplish."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Yay Castillian GateGuard."

Valentin asks (of Andres), "Shall we see what this guard says about it?"

[7thsea] schep asks, "was there game on Friday?"

Constantin asks, "Shall we all three then go to this toll-bridge?"

[7thsea] Sargent says, "musketeers"

[7thsea] Sargent says, "v1.0"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "hee"

[7thsea] schep says, "I am so out of everything, I have no idea what that is."

[7thsea] schep asks, "how about week before that?"

Andres says (to Valentine), "If he knows about it, we would not want to give warning. If he does not, he cannot help us."

Constantin says (to Valentin), "I agree with Andres. There is no point to it."

Andres says, "Aslo, it would be foolish to relieve the tax unless the excess monies are recovered."

Valentin says (to Andres), "Hmm. We could ask at headquarters if this additional tax is authorized."

Valentin asks (of Andres), "Though would Commander Bron not have known of it in that case?"

Constantin says, "You could go do that while we check out the bridge. Or Andres could go and I could watch the marketplace."

[7thsea] Jota says, "I think so."

Constantin says, "Or we could stay together, because I am sure to get lost on my own."

Constantin says, "Although I could buy a compass from a merchant."

Valentin says (to Constantin), "IF we go to the bridge, there may be trouble -- best we all go there together."

[7thsea] Miseri says (to schep), "you only missed one game."

[7thsea] schep says, "hm, better read up."

[7thsea] Jota rolls 1k1: 10+10+10+7 | 37

Constantin says, "All right. I think we should approach with stealth when we near it."

[7thsea] inky says, "you need to show up on friday so you can translate the coded message we found on the hunter guy"

Valentin asks, "How far is this bridge?"

Valentin asks, "Will we need our horses?"

Constantin says, "15 minutes."

Valentin says, "Afoot, then. We can make a stealthier approach."

[7thsea] schep asks, "Are people ready to head back then? Or still in the middle of finding and beating up the local bad guys?"

Andres says, "But we will make a pokier retreat."

Constantin says, "Retreat?!"

[7thsea] inky says, "I think people were arriving back at the manor at the end of last game"

[7thsea] Miseri says (to schep), "We're on our way back and should arrive at the manor by nightfall."

Constantin draws his sword and swishes it around.

Andres says (to Stan), "Oui, the thing one does other than die."

[7thsea] schep says, "wow, thought that would take longer."

[7thsea] schep asks, "Diego recovered sword?"

Constantin says, "If I die today sir, I die with honor as a musketeer!"

Constantin sheaths his sword.

Constantin says, "Of course, I would rather not die today."

[7thsea] inky says, "yeah, from the police"

Valentin says, "Fetching our horses would waste time, and the beasts are tired from the journey."

[7thsea] schep says, "yay"

Andres says, "If I die today, I shall be extremely put out."

Andres says (to Val), "True."

Valentin asks, "What say you, gentlemen?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "I assume these are special musketeer horses that can be trusted to be quiet and loyal and stuff?"

Valentin asks, "Forth to the bridge?"

Constantin says, "Forth, but with care."

[late_musketeers] GateGuard says, "they're pretty good, yeah"

[late_musketeers] GateGuard says, "you can't afford anything super-colossal"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Forth, with Sally the Jenny."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "[13 1/2 minutes later...]"

Game_Master says, "you head out from the city -- the number of people entering has diminished considerably, to a mere trickle of what it was before"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks (of Andres), "Wait, are we taking our horses?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "no"

Game_Master says, "after ten or twenty minutes of walking, you come within sight of a river"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "OK."

Valentin asks (of Game_Master), "Is there brush by the road to offer concealment?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "are there any protective woods?"

Game_Master says, "the river is spanned by a bridge, and on the other side, three men seem to have erected some kind of barrier"

[late_musketeers] (from Andres) People trickle city

[late_musketeers] (from Andres) City laughs!

Game_Master says, "there is a certain amount of small trees and bushes and things"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Protective woods? ERected barrier? You make it too easy!"

Game_Master says, "the men are talking to each traveller before allowing them past the barrier"

Constantin says, "Hm, is it possible to cross the bridge without being seen by the men on the far end? I'm not getting the impresion that it is."

Valentin asks (of GM), "Can we approach close enough to hear what is said, without being noticed?"

Game_Master says, "well, you'd have to cross the bridge to get to the barrier, unless you find another way across the river"

Game_Master says, "you might be able to sneak part of the way across, but probably not all the way"

Constantin asks, "Can any of us swim?"

Game_Master says, "although the men are looking away from the city, not towards it"

Valentin asks, "Hmm. What do the men look like? Are they in guards' uniforms?"

Game_Master says, "you can't see from here, but they don't appear to be armed with rapiers, so."

Constantin says, "I could chop down some trees and brush and fashion a sea-worthy canoe, but it would take six days of hard work."

Valentin says (to GM), "Hmm. If they're not in uniform, that suggests banditry rather than an official tax."

Constantin says, "These men do not strike me as men of honor, somehow."

Andres asks (of Constantin), "What possibly gave you that idea?"

Valentin asks, "Perhaps we'd best just walk up while they're in mid transaction, and demand to know what is going on. Are they many in number?"

Constantin says, "We should just walk straight over to them and bust up their operation."

Constantin says, "I believe we are matched, man to a man."

Andres says, "Or, we could wait them out, and follow them when they return to there camp."

Valentin says (to COnstantint), "Best to do so when they're speaking to a merchant, so they cannot deny what they are doing."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Also, ConstanTint is a trademark of Kodak Corporation."

Constantin nods.

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Is there a guard house that could house other persons?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "momma don't take my constanTint away"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "I was about to define ConstantInt as 255."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "no guardhouse to be seen, although I suppose other people could be out of sight in the brush on that side of the river"

Constantin points at Andres. "You! I shall follow your lead in this."

Andres pushes Stan's finger out of his nose.

DiegoValdez says, "'night, katre"

[7thsea] Miseri says, "eeagh"

Valentin loosens his sword in his scabbard.

[7thsea] TableSaw says, "Heh."

[7thsea] Jota asks, "?"

Constantin practices his sword-drawing action a few times.

[7thsea] Miseri says (to Mutt), "accidentally said goodbye to katre in the 7th Sea window."

Andres says, "I say we wait undercover, then shadow the men and discover where their camp is, or if perhaps they have a base within the city."

Valentin says (to Andres), "That's of little use if we have no evidence of what they are doing."

Constantin says, "Perhaps the evidence is to be found in their camp."

Andres asks (of Val), "And where do you think there would be plenty of 'evidence'?"

Constantin says, "Although, three of us against a whole camp -- those odds do not embolden me."

Andres says (to Stan), "Did I say we would ATTACK the camp? Don't answer that; I did not."

Constantin says, "..."

Valentin says (to Andres), "Well, we will at least witness what passes between them and the merchant."

Constantin throws up his hands.

Constantin starts to cross the bridge in a casual, just-crossing-the-bridge manner.

RandomMerchant's cart starts to approach the barricade.

Valentin walks bridgeward.

Andres shakes his head and wishes for some wine.

Valentin times his approach so that the cart arrives first.

Andres temporarily removes his tabard.

Constantin keeps his eyes peeled on the men.

Andres walks toward the bridge.

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "what's a tabard?"

BridgeMan says (to RandomMerchant), "additional tax -- a sol a head to cross the bridge to the city"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "It's the thing that identifies our Musketeer regiment."

[late_musketeers] BridgeMan says, "an overshirt, basically"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "oh hey that's a good idea."

[late_musketeers] BridgeMan says, "musketeers all wear them, and it has an additional design based on your regiment"

[late_musketeers] BridgeMan | a short loose-fitting sleeveless or short-sleeved coat or cape: as a : a tunic worn by a knight over his armor and emblazoned with his arms b : a herald's official cape or coat emblazoned with his lord's arms

Valentin exchanges glances with the others. Shall I step forward?

RandomMerchant exclaims (at BridgeMan), "but that's outrageous!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I didn't know the most identifiable musketeer garment could be doffed like that"

Constantin shrugs at Valentin.

BridgeMan says (to RandomMerchant), "nevertheless, you'll pay it or you had best turn that wagon around, for you won't be crossing the bridge"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "I'd rather try to overawe these guys."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Actually I don't either. I'm just hoping that the GM allows it without horrible, unexpected consequences."

[late_musketeers] BridgeMan says (to Constantin), "well, they still know you by your musketeer pants"

Valentin asks (of BridgeMan), "Ahoy, sir! What passes here?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "ok"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Aw damn. Strike the tabard command then."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "so never mind, I didn't say I doffed mine, so I didn't"

[late_musketeers] BridgeMan asks, "are you guys wearing the tabards or no?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "wearing"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "I am."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "All are."

BridgeMan says, "ah -- additional tax, sir"

Valentin asks (of BM), "A tax, hey? Collected for the city?"

Constantin stands alertly.

BridgeMan says, "er, yes, yes, of course."

BridgeMan says, "straight to the bank, it goes."

Andres says (to Valentine), "Calm yourself."

Constantin asks, "And how much tax have you collected today?"

RandomMerchant glances back over his cart to make sure it is secure.

BridgeMan says, "um, not much at all, really. only five or ten soleis. hardly worth bothering with."

Valentin asks (of RM), "Has a toll ever been collected here before?"

RandomMerchant exclaims (at Valentin), "not to my knowledge, sir. and I must say, I protest at the imposition of a toll outside the city as well as the standard one at the gates!"

Constantin says, "No, hardly worth bothering with. But taxes are taxes. See here, we'll do you a favor and take your taxes to the bank for you."

Andres says (to BridgeMan), "Still, with the bandits roaming the highways at festival time, perhaps you could allow us to accompany you and your associates into the city to make your daily deposit."

Constantin says, "(same difference)"

Valentin says (to RM), "Indeed, indeed. We are making inquiries, and in the meantime I would suggest making a complaint at headquarters."

[late_musketeers] Andres says (to Stan), "heh."

RandomMerchant says, "er -- we, um"

[late_musketeers] BridgeMan says, "(whoops, wrong name)"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "RM or BM?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "ok"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Hee."

BridgeMan says, "er -- we, um -- I hardly like to bother your lordships with such a trifle"

[late_musketeers] (from Constantin) Game_Master quickly reshuffles papers and notes.

BridgeMan glances over his shoulder briefly

Andres asks (of BM), "Surely you would not turn down an official escort of the musketeers?"

Valentin looks behind BM, making use of his keen senses.

Constantin follows BridgeMan's glance to see where it landed.

BridgeMan says, "I, um, would be happy to normally, but --"

Constantin says, "Sir, there is no finer protection than our sharp, stinging swordblades."

BridgeMan was apparently glancing at the three other similarly-attired men arriving from behind those bushes.

[late_musketeers] BridgeMan says, "(similarly attired to himself, of course, not to you)"

Constantin takes up a defensive position.

Valentin asks, "Do these men appear armed?"

[late_musketeers] BridgeMan says (to Valentin), "they have knives at their belt"

BridgeMan exclaims, "get them!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I didn't think those looked like musketeer pants"

Andres draws his sword and knife.

BridgeMan hastily backpedals as the other men draw daggers and charge forwards.

Valentin draws his sword with a flourish. "Aha, bandits exposed!"

Constantin draws his sword.

Valentin draws his knife with his left hand.

Constantin (left-handed)

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "ok, here we go with a fight"

Constantin draws a knife, too, since that seems to be the thing.

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "out of the six men, one is running away, two are attacking valentin and andres, and one is attacking constantin"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "is he a big guy?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "the first thing to do in combat is to roll for your actions"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "whee"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "OK, how do we do that?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Constant), "they're all bigger than average, as befits bandits"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "there are dice here in the room"

[7thsea] Andres rolls 4 dice: 2 3 10 5

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "type 'roll X', where X is your panache"

[7thsea] Valentin rolls 4 dice: 9 10 7 10

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "stinking thyroid cases"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "in this case, unlike all others, lower is better"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "since we count up for actions from 1"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Ah. Beh."

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "I get 7, then?"

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Brutes?"

[7thsea] Constantin rolls 3 dice: 4 7 4

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "ok, and I'll roll"

[7thsea] Game_Master rolls 2 dice: 10 3

[7thsea] Game_Master rolls 2 dice: 5 5

[7thsea] Game_Master rolls 2 dice: 7 5

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "you guys have 4 panache?"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "I do."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "man."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Hey, panache sounded like the most fun stat to have."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "We're musketeers!"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "oops, sorry, and if you have combat reflexes, you can reroll one die"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "well if I had played but one fight turn I would know that more panache gets more more dice"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Oh, I have combat reflexes. So."

[7thsea] Valentin rolls 1 die: 5

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "combat reflexes? I guess I don't."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "ok then"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "the TN to hit these guys is 15"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "what category does that fall under?"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Panache is not all it's cracked up to be, really."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "you roll (weapon skill + finesse) keep (finesse) to see if you hit them"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "since they're brutes, you can declare in advance that you're trying to hit more than one"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "does my left-handedness give me any advantage?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "which requires one raise (ie, +5 TN) for each hit"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Constant), "yeah, you get an additional unkept die (ie, weapon skill + finesse + 1)"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "er, for each additional brute hit"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "also since they're brutes, one hit is enough to disable them"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "also also, feel free to roleplay the results of your dice rolls"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Brutes = unskilled fighters?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "so that's six, keep two"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "right, common rabble"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "anyway -- the first person who goes is andre, since he's got a 2 on his panache roll"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "6k3 for me, it seems. Is that just with the sword, or using both swords and knife?"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "lets just try a basic cut, first."

[Crows-Nest] Miseri says, "hm. Panache 4 *and* combat reflexes? All you need now is an Aldana apprenticeship and Valroux mastery...."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Sure."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Val), "it's probably just your sword skill"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "he's got a what? 2 on his panache roll?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Val), "you can of course describe the final hit as being with your knife if you want"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Constantin), "right"

Andres attacks a nearby bandit with a simple slice.

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Anyhow, Time for Andres to kick some brute butt."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "no, I don't know what that means"

[7thsea] Andres rolls 4k2: 7 1 5 7 | 14

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "so you'll go when we get to 4"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "when he rolled the four dice, he got 2 3 5 10"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "ok, so andres only got a 14, but needed a 15"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "so he can describe himself missing"

(From Andres) ...but misjudges the distance by a mere milimeter.

Bandit exclaims, "har har!"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "nobody else has a 2, so now andres can go again (since he also has a 3)"

[late_musketeers] Constantin laughs.

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "Ok, I get it. I assumed it was something more arcane and complex than going by numbers. heh."

Andres attacks again with his backhand!

[7thsea] Andres rolls 4k2: 10+7 3 4 2 | 21

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "that time he hit, and since it's a brute, the guy's incapacitated"

Bandit exclaims, "aie!"

Andres slices his blade through the still laughing bandit's arm. The bandit falls to the floor, incapacitated.

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "when do Corps-a-corps Double-parry Tagging Exploit Weakness come into play?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "ok, and now it's the turn of the other bandit attacking andres to go, since he also got a three"

[7thsea] Bandit rolls 3k2: 5 10+6 7 | 23

[7thsea] Bandit says, "(that's probably a hit)"

[7thsea] Bandit says, "(er, channel)"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "(that's probably a hit)"

Bandit stabs at Andres as Andres is busy stabbing at the other guy. "Take that!"

[late_musketeers] Bandit asks (of Andres), "what's your TN to be hit?"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Whole lotta stabbin' going on."

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Damn what's the formula?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "(parry or footwork x 5) + 5"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says (to Constantin), "you can use those abilities instead of attacking with a sword, except for exploit weakness (which is only used against another fighter in the tout pres school)"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "My passive TN is 15 when using my knife as a main gauche."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says (to Constantin), "corps-a-corps is an attempt to knock them over, tagging is a zorro-like blow where you cut their suspenders or carve a C in or something, and double-parry is a flashy parry"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says (to Andres), "ok, so you take, um, 6 damage from these guys, since they're brutes and hit you by 8"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "tagging would be fun, but now's not the time. at least, I don't think so"

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Um, can I demonstrate an interrupt action?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "yeah"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "you can certainly parry it or something, yeah"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "I use my two remaining action dice to allow myself to parry the bandit's attack. This means I forfeit my two upcoming attacks."

Andres attempts to block the attack with his knife.

[7thsea] Andres rolls 4k3: 2 6 3 5 | 14

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "(it costs two because they're from later in the round -- if he'd saved one from earlier it would only cost one)"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "two remaining action dice? I'm lost on the concepts again."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "action dice = panache dice"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "ie, his 5 and 10"

Andres is unable to save himself.

Bandit exclaims, "har har!"

Bandit slices Andres's arm, or at least his shirt.

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "Okay, I get it."

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Shall I nor demonstrate a Wound check?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "ok, so Andres takes 6 damage, and needs to make a wound check, which is (brawn) keep (brawn)"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "trying to make above a six"

[7thsea] Andres rolls 2k2: 9 10+10+6 | 35

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "I made the roll."

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "did he need fifteen to parry the blow?"

Andres laughs off the blow, like a musketeer, and a nobleman!

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "So that means it's just a minor wound?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "right, it'll go away at the end of the fight"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "unless he takes more damage, in which case he'll have to check again"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "he needed a 23 to parry the blow, since that's what the bandit rolled"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "To parry the blow, I would have needed to match the Bandit's attack. Because I have a Valroux advantage, I would have only needed to get an 18."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "ok"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "right -- I believe it is now Constantin's turn twice in a row, since he has two 4s"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "oh really? wow."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says (to Constantin), "Make mincemeat of him!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "okay so attack 3 + finesse 2 + left-handed 1 = 6k2 ?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "right"

[7thsea] Constantin rolls 6k2: 1 10+4 4 8 7 1 | 22

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "trying to make a 15"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "huzzah"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "ok, so you connected successfully and took the guy out"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Ooh, left-handed is handy."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "so, you know, make up something"

Constantin slashes quickly at the bandit with his sword hand.

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "also, I re-mention in passing that you can take raises (ie, +5 TN per raise) to take out more than one guy with a single blow"

Bandit exclaims, "arr!"

Bandit collapses to the ground, clutching his wound.

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I can only handle one at a time at this point"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "so how dead is he?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "he's out of the fight, but not dead, unless you specifically want to kill him"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "hm."

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "but I have another turn?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "right"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "(and there's another bandit near you)"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "hm, I've got a dirty fighting score of 2"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "what does dirty fighting get me?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "ok, so you could, I dunno, grab the guy in a throat hold or kick him in the nuts or something"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "besides into trouble"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "or twist his arm behind his back or anything appropriate"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "How dishonourable!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "am I too far away from any as yet incapacitated bandits to deal with one of them?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "well, there's the guy you just cut down with your sword"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "although as mentioned there's another guy next to him who's not incapacitated"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "You've got a higher sword attack and you don't need to dirty fight. Just slash him and let's chase down the running guy."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "okay let me turn to the not incapacitated one"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "and yeah, another sword attack"

[7thsea] Constantin rolls 6k2: 3 9 3 4 6 1 | 15

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "ok, so that's just enough"

Constantin swings his arm round a second time and stabs at a second bandit.

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "also, second."

Bandit exclaims, "arr also!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I hate when I repeat words."

Bandit falls next to the first guy

Constantin says, "What-ho! Varlets!"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Hmm, three down."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "right, so the only one left is the one by Valentin"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "but it is now valentin's turn, so he'll probably get whacked now"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks (of Bandit), "And the one who wounded Andres, no?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "oops, right"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "so two guys, plus one who ran"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "we'll deal with him later"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "OK. Just a basic sword attack, then. I have 3 finesse and 3 sword attack, so I do 6k3?"

[7thsea] Valentin rolls 6k3: 4 7 8 4 7 1 | 22

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "excellent"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "right"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "good work"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Yes we'll let the man running away with the money get away."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "that's not what I meant!"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Or do my combat reflexes have an effect?"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Woohoo."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Anhow, looks like I took him out."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "no effect from combat reflexes"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "right, so play out something appropriate"

Valentin delivers a solid blow with the flat of his sword to the back of the bandit's head.

Bandit says, "urr"

Bandit falls over.

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "hee hee"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "ok, so there's one guy left, who has an action on 10. Valentin has actions on 7 and 9, and Constantin has an action on 7"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "inky is the Ur-Bandit."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "it'll take one action to move over to the guy and another to hit him"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "or you can chase the other guy or whatever"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I would give chase"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "OK, how about one of us starts chasing?"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "OK, I'm moving over to the other guy."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "LetStan run."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I've only got a 1 for sprinting"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "but I'll do my best"

[late_musketeers] lpsmith says (to Constantin), "If you have sprinting at all, that's actually good."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "yay me"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says (to Constantin), "I have no sprinting at all, so."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "ok, um, I guess you can roll, say, (sprinting + finesse) keep (finesse) to see how good a sprint it is"

Constantin sprints off after the running-away bandit.

[7thsea] Constantin rolls 3k2: 9 7 10+5 | 24

[late_musketeers] lpsmith says, "See? ;-0"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "whee!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "feets don't fail me now"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "good work -- lemme handle Valentin with the last bandit first"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "gotcha"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "That will even beat the necessary 'can't find his way out of a paper bag' raise."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says (to Val), "are you going to hit the guy? do so if so"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "OK."

[7thsea] Valentin rolls 6k3: 5 3 9 9 8 6 | 26

Valentin slashes boldly at the remaining bandit.

Bandit falls over also

[late_musketeers] (from Bandit) bandit falls from the sky!

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "these bandits are made out of some sort of soft spongy material"

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "OK, should someone guard the defeated bandits, or do we all chase at once?"

Game_Master says (to Constantin), "you run after the guy, to find him having ducked into some kind of nearby clearing, surrounded by bushes"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "well, after we see how I sprinted, I guess valentin has one more turn .. to do something"

Game_Master says, "there are six crude bedding things laid out around the remains of a fire"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "OK, I'll run after Constantin, then."

Game_Master says, "the bandit is kneeling down by one of the beds, fumbling with a bag at the end"

Constantin asks, "Is there anyone else here besides him?"

Game_Master says, "just him"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "is sprinting this far the whole turn, or can I still do stuff?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "I guess you might as well make a finesse roll also then"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "what will this roll be for?"

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Must I as well?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "sorry, that was to valentin"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "oh, him roll"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "got it"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "and andres, if he's also running"

[7thsea] Andres rolls 3k2: 4 4 7 | 11

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Constantin), "I guess we should roll panache for you and the bandit if you want to do something"

[7thsea] Valentin rolls 3 dice: 8 2 8

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "my plan here would be to charge into the clearing, sword pointed at the guy's throat, and say 'Surrender the taxes or surrender your life!', or something."

[7thsea] Game_Master says (to Valentin), "if you're doing a skill check, do roll 3k3 -- except that if you don't have the skill, only roll 2k2"

[7thsea] Game_Master says, "(bah, channel)"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Valentin), "if you're doing a skill check, do roll 3k3 -- except that if you don't have the skill, only roll 2k2"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I might also mention that his companions are dead and mutilated, etc"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Constant), "ok, you can do that without rolling"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "(so say whatever you want to say)"

Constantin charges into the clearing, sword pointed at the bandit's throat. "Surrender the taxes or join your comrades and surrender your life!"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "OK, I'll reroll."

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "What am I rolling for again? to catch up to Constantin?"

Game_Master says, "ah -- er -- just one moment, your lordship"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Val), "I guess, if that's what you want to do"

[7thsea] Valentin rolls 2k2: 10+2 4 | 16

Bandit says, "ah -- er -- just one moment, your lordship"

Bandit continues fumbling with whatever he's fumbling with.

Constantin says, "Don't move!"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Oh just hit him!"

Constantin can I cut his arm off?

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "ow"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "oops channel"

[7thsea] Constantin rolls 6k2: 10+1 1 1 8 4 2 | 19

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "um, you can hit at his shoulder or something"

[7thsea] schep asks, "Hm. Is TableSaw thinking about coming back, or did he just stop in to watch a bit?"

Constantin slices at the bandit's shoulder with his sword blade.

Bandit tries to roll away.

[7thsea] Valentin says, "TS = Andreas."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "(this guy's a little tougher than the others)"

[7thsea] Bandit rolls 3k3: 6 6 5 | 17

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "(uh oh)"

[7thsea] TableSaw says, "I'mdoing inky's game because I can make Sunday sessions, but not Fri/Sat"

Bandit isn't successful, and the sword cuts into his arm.

Constantin says, "I warned you, knave!"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "but roll for damage anyway -- he gets to go until he fails a wound check"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "what do I roll?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "or you."

[7thsea] schep says, "oh, ah. and hi there."

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "?"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "so sword damage is (2+brawn) keep (2)"

[7thsea] Constantin rolls 4k2: 9 4 10+7 3 | 26

Constantin's sword bites deep.

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "(ok, he's probably not going to make his wound check, but .. )"

[7thsea] Bandit rolls 3k3: 5 5 4 | 14

Bandit says, "arrr...g"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "no more arm for this thief"

Bandit collapses forward, the pistol flying from his hand.

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "well, I don't know if you could actually cut off an arm with a fencing sword, but he won't be using it for a while"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "can I kick the pistol farther from his reach? assuming he could reach?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "or would it be better to just pick it up?"

Valentin, seeing that the bandit in the grove seems to be dealt with, turns around to check on the other injured bandits.

[7thsea] TableSaw says, "Heh. Yay two windows."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says (to val), "you ran all that way for nothing"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "he's out of commission also"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "although you could run over the bedding to reach the pistol, yeah"

Andres grabs the pistol. (If he's gotten there yet.)

[7thsea] Valentin says (to Constantin), "I could use the exercise -- been eating too much cheese."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "there's a solution"

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "I guess constantin is probably closer to the pistol"

[7thsea] Valentin says, "er. ilac."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "but if you like, you can grab the pistol or kick it or whatever"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says (to Constantin), "I could use the exercise -- been eating too much cheese."

[late_musketeers] Bandit says, "or kick and then grab, or grab and then kick"

Constantin picks up the pistol and examines it.

Constantin says, "(with his right hand)"

Valentin scouts around for some rope or something to tie up the bandits with.

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "can I tell anything about who these guys are by what kind of firearms they use?"

Game_Master says, "it's pretty well-maintained, although not that expensively made, and would put a nasty hole in one"

Constantin looks also for the loot.

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Is that merchant still there?"

Game_Master says, "the guy has a sack that he uses for a pillow"

Game_Master says, "which is filled with coins"

Game_Master says, "(not much of a pillow, I know)"

Constantin says, "Thieving scum."

Constantin says, "A man could buy bread for a year with this!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "or something"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "yeah, probably"

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Um where am I?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "yeah, merchants and peasants were watching fight, impressed"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "yeah, so where is everyone"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Andres), "um, constantin's in grove, everyone else is midway to running there"

Valentin asks (of Merchant), "Ahoy, sirs! Have you any rope or cord?"

RandomMerchant says, "well, I have some for repairing my pony's harness"

Valentin says, "'Tis best we bring these varlets back to town to be judged."

RandomMerchant fumbles around in his wagon.

Valentin asks (of RM), "Might you part with some for tying these knaves' hands?"

Valentin says (to RM), "The musketeers would be in your debt."

RandomMerchant says (to Valentin), "for a musketeer? of course, sir"

RandomMerchant hands over some rope.

Valentin ties the hands of the bandits, behind their backs.

Valentin thanks the merchant.

RandomMerchant says, "of course"

RandomMerchant says, "now, if you will excuse me, I hope to make the city before dark"

Valentin says (to RM), "Indeed. Godspeed."

RandomMerchant encourages his pony to start walking again, and crosses over the bridge

Game_Master says, "the crowds of tresspassers which have accumulated move on, too"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "er, travellers."

Valentin asks, "So, sirs! Shall we march these knaves into town?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "also, the fight being over, Andres's flesh wounds go away, poof."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "except possibly for a ripped shirt"

Constantin stares at Andres' ripped shirt.

Constantin asks, "Are you hurt?"

Andres says, "One does not complain about the buzzing of flies."

Constantin says, "Ho ho! I see not, then."

Valentin says (to Andres), "Ay, you're a tough one!"

Andres shakes his head.

Constantin says, "Say, we aren't due to file our report on the west gate's tax problems for a week."

Andres says, "Well then, lets get back to the city and quickly to the Grey Cat."

Constantin says, "Agreed!"

Valentin says, "First to the guardhouse with our prisoners -- then I'll buy the wine!"

Andres searches the encampment for anything else.

Constantin says, "Oh, right, naturally to the guard house first. Ahem."

[7thsea] Andres rolls 3k3: 2 2 3 | 7

[late_musketeers] Andres finds himself to be blind.

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "what's the roll for that?"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Perception check. But I guess inkmaster isn't really calling for them. Ghogg habits break hard."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "there's nothing particular there -- they apparently have been camping out for some time, so there's some freshly-caught hares and so on, plus a few spare daggers, whetstones, fishing hooks, etc"

Andres grabs the weapons and leaves the rest.

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I think we're ready to pack it in for today's adventure."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Hmm. I suppose we can leave this junk be."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Sure."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "yeah, it's 8"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I'm sure they'll send someone to collect what's left. Or the scavengers will get it."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Yeah, this is a natural ending point."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "right-o"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "And we all lived happily ever after."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Heh."

Constantin says, "And off we go, laughing and sharing tales of the afternoon's battle."

Game_Master says, "you take the prisoners back to the city, heading past the theater and passing merchants and jugglers and pipe-players and so on, eventually arriving at the jail (which turns out to be part of the stable, walled off), where you hand the prisoners over to a guard"

Valentin says, "We fear nothing, save tomorrow's hangover!"

Game_Master says, "he seems pleased to see you so successful, although Bron is out, so you can receive no official congratulations"

Game_Master says, "Jacques takes the money from you to give to Bron, if you want to hand it over"

Constantin says, "Yes."

Valentin says, "Yeah, let's hand it over."

Andres says, "Not really."

Game_Master says, "and thence to the Grey Cat and drinking and carousing and bad singing and so on"

Valentin says, "I know over two hundred songs about cows!"

Game_Master says, "[end of Act I]"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "good work, folks"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master asks, "how'd that go?"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Yay!"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "whee"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Yay val's ending line."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "That was fun."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says (to GM), "Thanks a lot for doing all the hard work."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master exclaims, "and this was the *easy* act!"

[late_musketeers] (from Constantin) Game_Master says, "good, because next time the bad guys become 100x more powerful"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "timing"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Considering we had a battle that also explained combat mechanics, extremely well."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "so we'll be meeting sundays at this time for the next couple weeks"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "for next time, you can all have 3xp to spend on your characters"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "ok"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Woo."

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "are these three points we can just stick somewhere?"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "or how does it work?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "I guess all you can use that on right now is skills -- to raise a skill to level X, it costs 2X"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "so you can buy a skill from 0 to 1 for 2, 1 to 2 for 4, etc"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "(you can save these 3, obviously)"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "hm."

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Sure. So we can buy skills we don't have yet?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "you can also raise traits with XP, or buy backgrounds, but you can't afford traits, and backgrounds don't appear appropriate"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "sorry, s/skill/knack/, there"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "to buy a new actual skill costs 10xp"

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "how much for a trait?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "5 times the new value (eg, 15 to raise it to 3)"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "well, I can't afford any knacks I guess"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Well, a new knack costs 2, right? You can buy knacks independant of skills."

[late_musketeers] Valentin asks, "Or have I misunderstood?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "yeah, but you have to have the skill group"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "so you can buy a 1 in an advanced knack, say"

DiegoValdez applauds.

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Ah, OK."

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "So if you want an advanced knack, now's the time."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "(advanced knacks no longer costing extra)"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says (to Gm), "Ah, cool. I'll look into it, but I'll probably end up saving my 3."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "or save it til you get one more xp, and buy a knack from 1 to 2"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "either way, yeah"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master asks, "any questions?"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "Are we still enforcing a ban on intergroup kibbitzing, or can we read over how the early group did."

[late_musketeers] NewsBoy hollers, "Extra! Extra! Game_Master has posted message 3, about 'first session', to the bulletin board! Alex likes a monkey!"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "hrm"

Subject: first session

good work, team! everyone gets 3xp -- next game, next sunday same time

[late_musketeers] Constantin asks, "oh, advanced and basic knacks cost the same?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "I think we'd better say no, don't read the other group's transcripts"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "since I'll be keeping roughly the same stuff in each act but not exactly"

[late_musketeers] Andres says, "OK."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says (to Constantin), "yeah, after creation, both the same"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "huh."

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "except I don't have a knack list any more"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "(ditto swordsmen's knacks, although you can't raise those with 3xp)"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "there's that web page"

[late_musketeers] Andres asks, "Heh, since everyone else's characters are posted, can i email Andres to someone so you guys can read?"

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "which I can never remember"

[late_musketeers] Constantin says, "I think I'll just save it until next time."

[late_musketeers] Valentin says (to Andres), "Sure, I can post it. zrblm@earthlink.net"

[late_musketeers] Valentin says, "Also, gotta go."

[late_musketeers] Game_Master says, "this lists knacks: http://sherman.www.50megs.com/SeventhSea/hero.htm"

Valentin bows and departs.

Valentin has disconnected.

Valentin buckles his swash.

You exclaim, "Log off!"
