Shagapir's Chancel (Locus Feriarum)
A village in a valley surrounded by mountains, with a carnival complete with circus in
the middle. Windmills are positioned strategically around the village
and carnival, producing miracle points from the constant breeze. The
villagers tend the windmills, man the carnival booths, tend the surrounding
farmlands, and mine the mountains for quarxite, a mineral that powers a
variety of the more powerful permanent spells used in the chancel, like the
ones that convert cable TV signals to show up on the walls of their
retro-adobe houses.
Unwary wanderers can find themselves
lost in The Maze, one of the booths in the carnival, but much larger on
the inside than the outside, with hidden exits into the mountains, the
village, and even out of the chancel itself (to entertainment centers
around the world). Above it all, spanning from one mountaintop to the
other side, is an enormous raised highway, a silver ribbon in the sky,
with magical off-ramps to locations in and out of the chancel.
