Wilfred has been fussing about how this is Highly Irregular, and can someone Please Explain This Situation.

Alexandra asks, "do you want us to whipser or say?"

GM says, "say if you want it to be public/play it out"

[Crows-Nest] Ghogg hands Wilfred forms 232-634-A and 20953-3423-ex to make him happy

Raul says, "Wandering. And indeed choosing a new hobby: learning to speak, then read, all the languages in the world."

Michel says (to Raul), "that's an automatic skill"

Kori says, "I have mostly been busy trying to wrap my head around it. Not saying anything to anyone in my home life, which is fairly private anyway."

Raul says (to Michel), "Is it? Good, at least I'll have one hobby I get good at instead of dropping after a few days"

Wilfred asks (of GM), "Er, are we all stuck in the library over the course of the week, or what?"

[nobilis] GM says (to Raul), "actually, speaking of -- all nobilis can speak/read all (current) human languages"

GM says, "no, you're welcome to go out into the world again if you want"

[nobilis] Raul says, "Right. Time to start on the dead ones, then."

[nobilis] Franklin says, "huh"

[nobilis] Kori asks, "what, no dead ones?"

Alexandra has been anchoring her on/off gf Karin, a local artist, exploring the chancel, and experimenting with what she can do now. Also, avoiding explaining what's happened to her brother, since she's not sure how involved she wants him to be in this strangeness

[nobilis] GM says, "not unless you study them on your own"

[nobilis] Tyoka asks, "does live include latin?"

[nobilis] Tyoka says, "as it's being spoken in the vatican"

Kori has been enjoying her ability to speak and read Japanese fluently, which is definitely going to be handy. So much for having to take summer classes.

[nobilis] Wilfred says, "Yay Vatican, where the bank machines have instructions in Latin"

Raul says, "I'm also going to make arrangements for my restaurant while I ostensibly go into the hospital for radical surgery on my legs."

[nobilis] Alexandra says (to Kori), "given your godlike research skillz, I imagine it takes oh, a day or so"

GM says, "and, I assume, you all do a certain amount of experimenting with your powers and gifts and aspect which we can take as read"

Wilfred is highly disturbed, and has spent the first three or four days trying to get back into his old job and finding that he ... doesn't really need a secretary to take care of his papers anymore.

GM asks, "anything else before Vona talks?"

Wilfred says (to GM), "not really."

GM says, "right then"

Franklin has spent most of the last week silently staring at the waterfall in the chancel.

Vona glances around. "Really, this is quite a nice place -- the exits to all the libraries are an especially fine touch, if I do say so myself."

[nobilis] Iain asks, "Are we playing tonight, then?"

[nobilis] Iain says, "I don't see characters logged in."

[nobilis] Michel says (to Iain), "get your arse in here"

[nobilis] Raul exclaims, "!"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "RIGHT NOW"

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "we're here"

Vona says, "but I'm afraid it's a bit weak in the defense department"

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "Shame if something were to... happen to it."

Vona frowns.

[nobilis] Iain says, "Oh, okay, maybe a few."

Penny arrives, looking for booty.

Vona says, "and I can't have you hanging around here all the time; I've got things for you to do"

Wilfred asks, "Defence? What sort of defence does a place like this need?"

Michel says (to Penny), "yay, right on time"

Gaston arrives, looking for booty.

Vona lets her eyebrow raise ever-so-slightly.

Gaston says, "'allo."

Michel says (to Gaston), "perfect timing"

Vona says (to Wilfred), "those aforementioned connections to the libraries are two-way, you realize"

Gaston says (to Michel), "But of course."

[Crows-Nest] Kori says, "they were off in a corner, um, pondering Penny's latest plot, no doubt"

Vona says (to Wilfred), "I do not expect anyone to be coming through angrily, since at the moment I don't happen to have offended anyone"

Vona says, "but one cannot be too careful"

Michel gangles against a statue

Vona says, "so --"

[Crows-Nest] Ghogg says, "now that they're deities, they can use words like 'extra-husky'"

Wilfred asks, "Yes, but who ... I mean, what could possibly want to launch an attack?"

Vona strokes her chin for a bit, and then her eyes brighten.

Vona exclaims, "clearly what this place needs is a giant!"

Gaston says (to Vona), "Not offended anyone in what context? Your manhandling of me onto that train was somewhat annoying."

Vona says, "Yajpelapel will do, I think. I don't believe he's doing anything at the moment"

Franklin asks, "A giant what?"

Kori raises her eyebrows in turn

Vona says, "go find him and bring him back here, please, and then I will bind him appropriately for the defense"

Vona steps behind a tree and is gone.

Raul says, "Mmm. I hope he likes to read."

Kori asks (of Gaston), "(in an undervoice) what, did you get a disfiguring bruise?"

Michel does not have a high enough Spirit to smirk at his Imperator directly, but does so now she's gone

Gaston scowls at Kori.

Franklin says, "Right. I guess we have to look up who this Yajpelapel fellow is."

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "I wonder if Yajpelapel is in the phone book."

Franklin says, "And where to find him. Or it. Or her."

Alexandra says, "I like the level of detail she provides"

Penny says (to franklin), "I guess so"

Kori asks, "Ok, so, um, I don't suppose this place has an Oversized section?"

Michel says, "So who wants to do the, ah, research, then? I'd look under mythology first, myself"

Franklin says, "It has every kind of section."

Raul says (to Franklin), "Knowing where in here to look sounds very much like your department"

[nobilis] GM asks, "oh, incidentally, thanks to Wilfred, the chancel has an extra realm point -- did you guys want to buy off a problem or do something else?"

Franklin says, "Yes. Hmm. I'm having trouble placing Yajpelapel culturally..."

Franklin says, "Assuming the paths don't change."

[nobilis] GM says, "and/or franklin could presumably dig up the right book with a divination miracle, assuming it's in this library and is on paper"

Franklin vooms a book into his hand.

Michel sparks up, having been unable to smoke in the presence of an imperator

[nobilis] Raul says, "Card catalog? We've got the powers of paper and language"

GM says, "it says, roughly, that Yajpelapel was one of a race of giants from the Times Before Humans"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "there is a card catalog, however"

Kori asks, "anything about where, say, he went?"

Gaston asks, "What was significant about him?"

GM says, "most of them are extinct now, as humans picked up the role of being, hmm, the main character"

[Crows-Nest] Ghogg says, "I wonder if a giant will work for you for cookies"

Gaston asks, "Why was he remembered, I mean?"

GM says, "there is a rather long and tedious history about the wars of the giants and so on"

Raul says (to Gaston), "Oh my yes. Fun place."

Alexandra says, "question is: are there libraries in Vegas? I mean, reading isn't 'xactly the hot thing out there..."

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "Reminds me of a She-Hulk comic."

Raul says, "UNLV is there, of course."

Kori says, "I wouldn't be surprised if he's buried under the MGM Grand or something."

Penny says (to alexandra), "I was just wondering that, but there are actually people who live there"

Franklin says, "It is a city with a normal population."

[nobilis] GM says, "(as it happens, Las Vegas's taxes pay for a pretty good educational system and library)"

Wilfred frowns prudishly.

Penny says, "I would guess there'd be at least a school library or something"

Penny asks (of franklin), "is that going to be accurate?"

Raul says (to Franklin), "Mmm, that's going to be hard to keep up."

Wilfred says, "By all means. Let me process the exit forms first."

Penny asks, "the paths change all the time, right?"

Gaston says, "Let us bring some quantities of cash in lieu of preparation."

Kori says, "And later I'll speak to Vona about getting some better taste in visiting-spots..."

[nobilis] Raul asks, "I can find the path, right?"

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "no airplanes out of the chancel for us, mwhahaha"

Gaston says, "I understand they're essentially the same in this country."

Franklin says, "As of 20 minutes ago. It might be out of date."

Michel says, "Do we expect to just walk into Vegas and stumble upon a giant? More research here. We need to examine what giants are like, how we can find 'em."

[nobilis] GM says, "you can indeed"

Gaston asks (of Michel), "They are... big?"

Michel says (to Gaston), "Not necessarily"

Raul says (to Franklin), "At some point we should work together and see if we can create an always-correct map."

Penny asks, "and when we find this giant, then what?"

Kori says (to Michel), "truly, the subtleties of your mind astound me"

Alexandra says, "We can always research there. I say we head over and wing it."

Raul concentrates.

GM says, "the book used lots of comparisons like "as big as a hill! a big hill!" but this is not incredibly useful now"

Penny asks, "I mean, do we summon Vona to bind him?"

Gaston says (to Alexandra), "I agree."

Franklin says, "How big is this fellow going to be? Since we aren't the Power that bound him, we need to somehow outsize him."

Michel says, "The ancients used the words giant and Hero more or less interchangeably"

Kori says (to Penny), "I'm guessing we have to take on the Power that is keeping the Giant there"

Gaston says (to Franklin), "If he is Big, we will at least be able to see him."

Gaston says, "If not, outsizing him will not be difficult."

Penny says (to kori), "oh. that could be... interesting"

Franklin says, "He could be underground."

Raul says, "We go that way when we're ready," and points. "Well, if we go in the next little bit."

Michel asks, "I should also note that we are, ahem, unarmed and unprepared. Are we planning to face a giant?"

Gaston says (to Raul), "I think I will be good at card games, if any of the dealers have remotely shiny foreheads."

Franklin adjusts his tie pin.

Cabbie asks, "lookin' for anything in specific? hilton? caesar's?"

Gaston says, "This place is very... shiny."

Raul says (to Cabbie), "Why don't you take us down the strip and we'll see what catches our eye."

Cabbie exclaims, "treasure island? genuine pirates! arr!"

Wilfred tries to identify the castle with a more prosaic building.

Gaston says, "We could get some rooms at a hotel, perhaps."

Franklin asks (other Cabbie), "I don't suppose there's a giant in town anywhere?"

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "yay Franklin"

Michel is in a rather bad mood, and gets through cigarettes at a rate of knots

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "So subtle."

[nobilis] Cabbie says, "(the castle is, apparently, the whole thing -- although up close you realze it's not actually a castle, it's a castle squished next to a pyramid squished next to a riverboat casino next to a fairytale palace, all squished in between office buildings)"

Cabbie asks, "er, a giant?"

Cabbie asks, "(hopefully) I can do you a pyramid?"

Raul murmurs (to others in the cab), "Check the spirit world while we're driving. I'll watch prosaic."

Franklin says, "Yes, you know...<indicates mammoth proportions>"

Kori says, "Or possibly, um, a really large man. We're, um, on a scavenger hunt."

Michel switches to spirit

Michel runs a hand through his hair and across his face

Cabbie drops you off, grins at the tip, and drives off.

Raul joins the others on the sidewalk of the Luxor.

Michel asks (of Gaston), "would it, perchance, involve gambling and ladies?"

Gaston says, "Merde, both cabbies just left."

Wilfred says (to Franklin), "You know, 15% is generally the correct tip amount."

Franklin brushes cab lint off his suit.

Penny arrives, looking for booty.

Raul says (to Gaston), "Depending on what you have in mind, I may be able to help."

Gaston says (to Michel), "I am thinking the ladies might merely pretend to know things well."

Franklin says, "All he'll remember about us is the big tip, not the strange questions."

Gaston says (to Raul), "If the giant was fixed in place here a long time ago, he must constitute a fixed landmark."

Gaston says (to Raul), "I am thinking of looking in the oldest part of town."

Raul says, "Mmm, interesting."

Wilfred says, "Did anyone ask any strange questions? We could, you know, have been looking for some sideshow performance with a giant in it."

Raul says, "If you think the casinos were built around him and you want to see the older ones, then we're in the absolute wrong part of the strip."

Alexandra asks, "Question is: Will a frozen-in-place giant look like a giant, or even like one frozen?"

Penny asks, "is there any evidence which would point to a Large Spirit?"

Alexandra asks, "Any way we can find out which Power the giant was dueling with?"

Kori says, "I'm guessing he'd be more visible in the spirit world"

Gaston asks (of Raul), "What would be the right place?"

Raul flips into the spirit world for a moment to talk to the Luxor.

Raul says (to Gaston), "Big neon cowboy, marks the location of the Golden Nugget, one of the older casinos."

[Crows-Nest] jwalrus asks, "what does it look like in the prosaic world when you're talking to a spirit?"

[Crows-Nest] Kori says (to Michel), "but they might've noticed... something"

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "That's the point. They don't go anywhere, but they'd know their own area VERY well."

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra says (to Raul), "perhaps you could inquire if any spirit world paths lead toward giant-like things"

Raul asks (of Luxor), "ey, you awake?"

[Crows-Nest] Penny asks (of michel), "also, maybe one of them talked to an old building which saw the fight?"

GM says, "the Luxor is a big pyramid with a sphinx-face jutting out of one side. The sphinx's eyes are closed"

Michel says, "Perhaps we should attract the attention of a local Power, and ask them about the giant."

Raul says, "I only hope its eyes don't beam out that megawatt spotlight the prosaic one has."

Gaston says (to Michel), "But then they would wonder what we want with him."

Michel says, "They are surely the ones who will know this issue the best."

Michel says (to Gaston), "perhaps"

[Crows-Nest] Ghogg says, "and at night there's a big beam coming out the top of the pyramid"

Kori exclaims (at Sphinx), "hist!"

Gaston says (to Michel), "Vona didn't say to keep our task secret, but it seems reasonable to do so unless we have good reason."

Raul says (to Luxor), "Sorry to disturb you, but we wanted to ask you a few questions."

[nobilis] Wilfred asks, "Can I summon an index of Who's Who And Active in the Nobilis World?"

Luxor asks, "eh? what?"

Franklin says, "Winning a few jackpots in a row would attract attention, but perhaps both the right and the wrong kind."

[nobilis] Luxor says, "yes, but you realize there's a couple thousand nobilis in the world"

Luxor blinks down at you.

Gaston says (to Franklin), "A good thought."

Luxor exclaims, "ah, come to gamble, eh? best casino in town!"

Kori asks (of Luxor), "I wonder whether you know anything about a giant in this area?"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin chuckles

Raul says (to Luxor), "I know you're one of the newer ones around here -- nice atmosphere, by the way, stayed here a few times in the old days -- but we're looking for a giant"

Luxor says, "charming egyptian theme and no tacky -- well, not much tacky -- ok, fine, not really any more tacky than most elsewhere"

[nobilis] Wilfred says, "That's okay ..."

Gaston says (to Kori) (loudly), "Oh, come on, this noble pyramid must be the Giant. Surely there is nobody around here who is larger."

Luxor says, "I certainly haven't seen any giants around, but I admit I nap a fair amount"

Luxor yawns

Luxor says, "not as young as I once was"

Raul says, "Sure, sure."

Raul says, "Well, thanks for the tip."

Penny says (to luxor), "thank you. we appreciate your help"

Luxor says, "any time -- you want to gamble, you come back here and I'll make sure they treat you right"

Luxor winks.

Raul says, "Thanks. I might take you up on that."

Kori tries not to look visibly annoyed.

Michel has been frowning and staring into space all through this exchange

Kori says, "Ok, so we head for the big neon cowboy, I take it."

Raul says (to Kori), "What? So I used to come here and gamble. Not a lot to do out in New Mexico."

[Crows-Nest] Tyoka says, "I'm also imagining the big neon cowboy as GWB"

Michel says, "the big... neon... cowboy."

Kori says (to Raul), "unh hunh"

[Crows-Nest] DavidW asks, "So. Who's Vic?"

[Crows-Nest] Luxor says, "(the cowboy)"

Franklin buys some sort of fruity beverage for himself.

Vic, made of glowing neon and leaning against the side of the building casually, waves to you.

Vic exclaims, "howdy! howdy howdy! welcome!"

Gaston exclaims (at Vic), "Howdy, pard!"

Penny exclaims, "hi vic!"

Raul says, "Hey, Vic. Luxor sent us to you, said you might be able to help."

Vic says, "I seem to recall some sort of tallish building around for a while when I got here. It didn't say --"

Penny says (to Vic), "anything you could tell us would be helpful"

Gaston asks (of Vic), "Maybe he ain't so big at that. Who're you thinkin'd be the oldest feller around these here parts?"

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "I keep tangling up our story with American Gods and Last Call."

Gaston says (to Vic), "Exceptin' the crumbly here with us."

[Crows-Nest] Vic says, "ours is the one with the cowboy"

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "Mostly the latter."

[Crows-Nest] Tyoka says, "horrible idea: The Giant was one of the WTC towers"

Vic says, "well, hrm"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "bleh"

[Crows-Nest] Kori says, "which as we know were located in Vegas."

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "Well, they were moved there after we bought them from the British."

Franklin asks, "You mean it's one of the older casinos they've torn down?"

Vic gestures vaguely off in a direction.

Wilfred looks in that direction

[Crows-Nest] Tyoka says, "nobody says Vegas is the correct location"

Vic says, "I didn't see that, but I seem to recall that -- you see that one? it don't say much, and it's pretty old, but big enough for all that"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin asks, "didn't the book? so that's why we're here?"

GM says, "(it's a bit hard to judge in spirit reality,but the building does indeed look pretty tall. also sort of rundown. the human spirits walking by seem to be ignoring it)"

[Crows-Nest] Kori says, "yeah"

Gaston asks (of Vic), "What's it called?"

Wilfred switches to prosaic. What's in its place?

Penny asks (of GM), "I'm looking in prosaic. anything special?"

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "Clearly Gaston and Penny belong together"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "also, if I ever go to Vegas, I will smirk silently at the giant cowboy"

Vic scratches his head. "Never gave much of a name, come to think of it. Actually, did he talk at all?"

Vic says, "musta talked sometime -- not much else to do"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "whom I will always call 'Vic' from now on"

Raul says, "We can go see if he'll talk to us."

Vic tips his hat to Gaston.

Penny says, "I guess we should head over to wards that building"

Raul says, "Thanks for the help."

Vic exclaims, "y'all do that! have a good time in vegas!"

Gaston says, "And I is runnin' outta vocabularee."

Vic waves goodbye as you leave

Penny asks (of Raul), "how far is it?"

Michel discards an empty pack of cigarettes and cracks open a new one

[nobilis] Raul asks, "Hey, there's a good question: how far *is* it?"

Wilfred says (to Gaston), "That was ... a rather interesting performance."

Kori says (to Michel), "I'd've thought you'd want to keep the empties"

Raul says (to Michel), "I'd say those'll kill you some day, but I'm looking to bum one from you."

Gaston says (to Wilfred), "I am interested in cinema. Of several types."

[nobilis] GM says, "(far as you want -- walking distance)"

Penny says (to michel), "what raul said"

Raul says, "We can be there in five minutes of walking"

[nobilis] Kori says (to Raul), "good point."

Kori says (to Michel), "I don't care for them unless I'm drinking."

[Crows-Nest] DavidW asks, "Cabs? For a five minute walk?"

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "I did mention it'd be ten minutes of a cab ride"

GM says, "those of you taking cabs flag them down and get there, and the other people walk"

[nobilis] Penny exclaims, "woo, smoking party!"

Gaston exclaims, "Vroom!"

GM says, "on closer inspection, it's, hrm, looks like a derelict building"

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "unlike real life, where I slope off alone to smoke antisocially"

Gaston asks, "What does it look like in the spirit world?"

[nobilis] Franklin asks, "any markings at all?"

GM says, "there's a sign on the door reading "no one to enter by order of the mayor" and a couple of the windows are smashed"

Wilfred says, "Well, that settles it. We'll have to contact the mayor."

Kori says (to Wilfred), "Or not."

GM says, "but at the same time, it's also a giant, shoulders slumped down and arms hanging by its side, eyes closed"

Raul says, "Interesting"

Wilfred asks (of Kori), "What do you mean, 'not'?"

[nobilis] Franklin asks, "any interesting papers littered around inside that I can voom out?"

Raul says, "though its decor isn't really in keeping with the chancel."

[nobilis] Kori says, "you just want to voom"

Gaston says, "This could be our man."

[nobilis] Franklin says, "it's fun to voom"

[nobilis] Raul asks, "Who wouldn't?"

Kori says (to Raul), "maybe we could spruce it up a bit"

Kori says (to building), "hello"

Michel says, "YAY derelict buildings"

Michel looks chirpy for the first time in hours

Building shifts slightly in his sleep

Alexandra eyes the building curiously

Franklin says, "Maybe we should send Michel in there."

Raul says, "This is certainly an effective way of keeping a giant in one place."

Michel looks around for passers-by

Wilfred says (to Franklin), "not without the mayor's okay."

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "Sure hope this bldg is unoccupied."

Penny wonders if flying up to the approximate area of the giant's ear would be a better location to talk to him from

Franklin says, "The poor thing's old and tired."

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "Of course is it, by order of the mayor."

Gaston asks, "Who is the mayor of this town, actually? Is he Important?"

GM says, "(this is off on a rather obscure side-street despite its proximity to the cowboy and so on; there's nobody else around)"

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says (to Raul), "Not everyone obeys the law, I'm sorry to say."

Michel says, "If there aren't any passer-by looking around, I'm going to turn into a mantis and crawl through a window"

Wilfred says (to Gaston), "probably not, but Due Process says we can't go in without the mayor's approval."

[nobilis] Penny says (to michel), "that seems kinda... icky"

GM says, "(the giant, by the way, is a couple hundred feet tall, although he's not standing up straight so it's hard to tell)"

Penny flies up to take a look at the giant's face to see if he really is asleep

Kori says (to Wilfred), "but I'm not sure we need to"

Gaston says, "I'll walk around the building looking for other entrances."

Michel goes mantis, goes through window

Raul tries the front door.

Franklin stays put.

GM says (to Michel), "you turn into a mantis and slip inside -- only to discover that the building is not actually hollowed-out; the window indentation only goes in about a foot"

Raul also watches for people walking by who might be somewhat surprised by all the flying, mantissing, and b&e going on.

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "ewww, other entrances"

GM says, "similarly, when you eventually force the door open there's a small indent but otherwise solid"

Penny keeps on flying up until she reaches the face.

Raul asks, "Solid brick or solid...something else?"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "ew"

[Crows-Nest] Tyoka says, "cough"

[Crows-Nest] Gaston says, "They'll all be solidly clenched shut anyway, by the looks of things."

GM says, "solid brick, looks like"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "LETS MOVE ON"

GM says, "(but since this is apparently a giant in disguise, it's not clear that the brick is also brick)"

Raul says, "Doesn't look like going in is a good option."

Kori says (to Raul), "would you want someone-- um. Anyway."

GM says, "Penny would normally be spotted since the top of the giant is so high up, but luckily for her, dusk is starting to fall"

Franklin frowns and ponders.

Raul asks (of Building), "Hello?"

[nobilis] Penny says, "(whew)"

Penny asks (of Giant), "Er, hello?"

[nobilis] Raul asks, "What was it's name again?"

Building tries to jerk up his arms to swat Penny away, but they seem to be rooted to the spot

[nobilis] Raul says, "I keep wanting to say Yggdrasil"

[nobilis] Kori says, "Yajpelapel"

[nobilis] Building says, "Yajpelapel"

[nobilis] Penny says, "please remind me"

[nobilis] Kori says, "I just recapped"

[nobilis] Penny says, "okay"

Raul asks, "Yajpelapel?"

Penny asks (of Building), "would you happen to be Yajpelapel?"

[nobilis] Tyoka says, "yay world ash"

Yajpelapel glances slowly down from Penny, refocusing eyes on Raul. "It's been a long time since I've heard that"

Yajpelapel says, "and now I'm hearing it twice"

Raul smiles. "I imagine it has. You've been here a long time."

[Crows-Nest] (from DavidW) Penny asks, "Are you Yajpelapel? Your mother's worried about you and wants you to come home. All is forgiven."

[Crows-Nest] Tyoka says, "ha"

Penny flies down to land, if she can be heard there too.

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "heehee"

Yajpelapel's brow furrows very slowly as he tries to remember. "A very long time"

Yajpelapel can probably hear you at ground level if you talk reasonably loudly -- of course, this might attract attention after a while

[nobilis] Penny says, "okay, scrap that. I'll sit on his shoulder."

[nobilis] Raul asks, "Are there nearby building ledges we could perch on to have a conversation?"

[nobilis] Yajpelapel says, "(but since, as mentioned, it's getting dark and this is a back way, there aren't many people around)"

Michel is inside him, so he should be heard

[Crows-Nest] Kori asks, "how loud is a mantis voice, anyway?"

[Crows-Nest] Michel says, "d00d, spirit realm"

Penny asks (of Yajpelapel), "Do you remember why you are here?"

[Crows-Nest] Tyoka says, "mantises cannot talk"

[nobilis] Yajpelapel says, "there are slightly-shorter buildings to either side, yeah"

Raul glances around and, when no one is watching, walks up a building next to Yajpelapel until he can find a comfortable ledge closer to Yajpelapel's top.

Franklin rolls his eyes at all this showing-off.

[Crows-Nest] Yajpelapel says, "if you're talking in the spirit realm, you're (generally) also talking in the prosaic realm"

Yajpelapel thinks, and again seems to want to move his arms (possibly to count), but cannot

Penny lands on Yajpelapel's shoulder.

Yajpelapel says, "I am here because I am bound here"

[nobilis] Raul says (to Franklin), "You're just miffed there's nothing to voom right now."

Alexandra stays down on the ground for now, listening intently

Penny asks (of Yajpelapel), "why were you bound?"

[nobilis] Tyoka asks, "what is "voom"?"

Penny asks, "and who by?"

Franklin vooms a copy of today's newspaper to read while he waits.

Yajpelapel says, "until .. until I meet someone larger than me"

Yajpelapel frowns.

[nobilis] Raul laughs.

[nobilis] Raul says (to Tyoka), "What Franklin just did."

[nobilis] Franklin asks, "couple hundred feet tall, hm?"

Yajpelapel says, "I should not have insulted her height"

[nobilis] DavidW says, "Awwwk! Word on the street is that voom lives under little cat Z's hat."

[nobilis] Tyoka blinks.

Yajpelapel exclaims, "but I did not know she was a Power!"

Michel says, "lord, a arachne complex"

Gaston asks (of Yajpelapel), "How tall was she? Who was she, anyway?"

Penny asks (of Yajpelapel), "what did you say to insult her?"

Yajpelapel takes an experimental step.

Wilfred asks, "Maybe change the paperwork so one is scheduled to drive by here right about now?"

Raul says, "And there's a public library near here. Probably with a bookmobile."

Franklin says, "This is Las Vegas. They'll take cash."

Michel asks, "Would any old van full of books constitute a library, if well-organised enough? Wilfred?"

Wilfred says (to Penny), "Forge? Please. I do not 'forge' ... everything I fiddle with is bona fide."

GM says (to Wilfred), "I guess that'd be another create miracle (4) to make it come here"

Alexandra says, "Well, a bit of bona fide creation sounds just what's needed about now"

Wilfred says (to GM), "Okay."

Michel asks, "If they had the correct paperwork, and so on. What legally constitutes a library?"

Gaston says, "No need to spend energy."

Gaston says, "I can simply impersonate the real driver."

Gaston says, "If someone will show me the way to the library, and explain how to drive."

[nobilis] GM says, "(which plan are you guys going with?)"

Raul says, "That I can do."

Michel smirks

Wilfred asks, "(horrified) You're going to *steal* a bookmobile?"

Gaston says (to Wilfred), "Borrow."

Alexandra says (to Gatson), "Methinks the Vegas streets are *not* the best place to learn"

Michel says, "excellent idea. I shall come with you- I drive rather well, if I say so myself."

[nobilis] Raul asks (of Wilfred), "since you just burned some points for the building-gone-missing papers, you want to save them?"

Gaston says (to Alexandra), "Why not? They are very brightly lit."

Franklin says, "This is not the best neighborhood to be loitering in after dark, so perhaps if we put this plan into motion..."

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "Wilfred likes doing things legally, I take it."

GM says, "in fact, just on Franklin's mention, a group of toughs wander out of the shadows"

Michel says, "Ah. A flaw."

Raul says, "I'm sure no one will suspect the swarthy Hispanic man, French fellow, and aesthete are up to no good."

Thug asks, "eh, and who do we have here?"

[nobilis] Wilfred says (to Raul), "Yeah, but not in character for this stuffed shirt to allow unorthodox process."

Thug exclaims, "buncha tourists? welcome to vegas!"

Michel says, "Unless we know how to hotwire the thing if we find it, we're going to need keys."

Michel lamps the thug. Hard.

Thug says, "now hand over your wallets and we won't have to get rough"

Alexandra says (to Wil), "I'd say put your plan into action, since it looks like we may be a bit ... distracted for the moment"

[nobilis] Penny says, "oh, dear"

Wilfred says, "Oh good heavens. Speaking of stealing...."

[nobilis] Thug says, "(lamps?)"

[nobilis] Michel says, "punches"

[nobilis] Thug says, "ah"

Gaston asks (of Thug), "Hello. I have already seen the money, bright lights and pretty ladies, but I have not yet met any unedcuated lowlife. Do you know of any such persons?"

Thug doubles up at Michel's aspect-3 punch and falls to the ground

Thug's companions look on, a bit impressed and not exactly sure what to do next

Franklin's newspapers suddenly wrap around the other thug's head.

Raul wanders up to another thug and gently bops him on the head.

Michel gets the thug in a complex body lock and applies a little pressure.

Thug wanders around with a newspaper on his head (I dunno, I guess that's a level-2 preserve)

Thug hit by Raul also falls over

GM says, "the three thugs remaining run off as fast as they can"

Wilfred just shakes his head and modifies the nearest bookmobile's schedule so that its next stop will bring it by this area.

Gaston says (to GM), "Uh, they all seem to be being beaten up."

Driver stands fixed in place.

Wilfred asks (of Driver), "May we have the keys to the back of the van, please?"

Driver seems to be paralyzed by Gaston's gaze

Gaston says, "I guess I can free the driver, but I'm not sure I can hypnotise him or anything."

[nobilis] Michel asks, "okay, what would it cost to put him into a memoryless meditation for the next ten minutes or so?"

Driver's keys are in his hand

[nobilis] Michel asks, "Minor creation?"

[nobilis] Driver says, "um, I guess that'd be preserve emptiness"

[nobilis] Michel says, "okay, good enough"

Wilfred says (to Driver), "Thank you ever so much. (takes keys."

Driver unaccountably does not say "you're welcome"

Michel empties the driver's mind, putting him into a state of high-level meditation for a few minutes

Wilfred toddles around and opens the back of the van.

Michel says, "oh, and might as well do that to the thugs, as well"

GM says, "there are books in there"

Franklin asks, "Who is doing the lifting?"

Raul burns two AMPs and lifts the little building.

GM says, "(you can do that as part of the same miracle)"

Franklin asks, "Also, should we check to make sure there's a chancel entrance first?"

Michel asks (of GM), "well, with domain 4 it's free, right?"

Penny asks, "can we make a ramp, and push him?"

GM says (to Michel), "yes"

Gaston says (to Franklin), "Very good idea."

GM says, "Raul picks up the building, grunting slightly"

Franklin checks the van for an entrance.

Raul says, "Buildings should come with better handles."

Gaston says, "It would be embarrassing to be stuck in Las Vegas with an illicit bookmobile and a renegade building."

GM says, "(and yes, there's a chancel entrance here)"

Wilfred says (to Gaston), "It is not illicit. The paperwork clearly states that it's supposed to be here."

Michel is in wonder at how easy this was

Franklin says, "Well, what do you know."

Gaston says (to Wilfred), "Now we need to make it clear that these thugs attempted to attack the van."

Gaston says, "Which explains the, er, foot-shaped dents on the ramp."

Raul says, "You handle that. I'm going on through."

Raul climbs in as gracefully as he can while toting a very small, very dense building.

[nobilis] GM says, "(there is now a 'Quotes from nobilis')"

Michel kicks a nice dent in the door

[nobilis] DavidW says, "yay"

[nobilis] Franklin asks, "hm?"

GM says, "Raul climbs through the (cramped) chancel entrance"

Gaston says, "This bookmobile driver could be a useful contact for us."

lpsmith says "quiet woman!" and heads out to sea.

Raul's voice echoes from the Bookmobile: "This is just like The Lion, The Witch, and The Portable Building."

Wilfred closes and locks the door after Raul has gone through.

[nobilis] Kori says (to Raul), "yay"

GM says, "Michel kicks a dent in the van, possibly"

Penny asks (of wilfred), "we're not following him in there?"

Wilfred puts the key back in the driver's hand.

Michel says, "You return to the chancel. I'll stay here and observe that these people leave smoothly."

Gaston asks (of Michel), "Meaning what?"

Wilfred asks (of Penny), "Well now, we've got to do some cleaning up here first, no?"

Gaston says (to Michel), "Also, don't break the van."

Michel asks (of Michel), "that, for instance, the thugs don't come to before the driver and beat the crap out of him?"

Penny says (to wilfred), "good point"

Franklin sort of went through first when he was checking it out, and is not here.

Michel says, "also, of Gaston"

Gaston says (to Michel), "I think they are all sufficiently seriously injured to make that unlikely."

Kori hops through into the chancel.

Alexandra follows

Penny also heads through into the chancel

Michel says, "Hmm."

Gaston shrugs and enters the chancel.

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "'Hey, Louie, what d'you want to knock over today? Jewerly store? Electronics?' 'Nah, I want me a *bookmobile*.'"

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra says, "hee"

GM says, "one guy is still wandering around with a newspaper on his head, as you recall"

GM says, "the other two are unconscious; the driver is paralyzed,"

Gaston says, "Actually, I'll hop back out."

Michel says, "Okay. I'll handle this."

[nobilis] Franklin says, "the newspaper is probably no longer miraculously bound there, it's just kind of bunched onto his head now"

[nobilis] GM says, "yeah, this is true"

Gaston says, "Let's just drive the guy back to his library and leave these thugs here."

[nobilis] Franklin says, "but he probably doesn't know this"

[nobilis] GM says, "hee hee"

[Crows-Nest] Wilfred says, "[#obscure-comix] (after an adventure that trashes half of Toronto: "There is no mess to clean up, Angloman." "Are you kidding? Look at this!" "My name is Eastland, Department of Government Conspiracies. There is no mess. There are no Torontorg. There is no Santa Claus.""

Gaston says, "Or kill them, I dunno."

Michel removes the newspaper, and addresses the thug. "In future keep the fuck off this turf. Now take these two idiots and go."

Thug says, "uh -- ah -- rig-- er"

Gaston says, "Or maybe we could *vanish* them", slightly louder than necessary.

Wilfred coughs at Michel's terminology.

Thug tries to drag both thugs, gives up, drags one a short distance, gives up on that and just runs away

[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "hee hee"

Michel says, "so. the van"

Gaston says, "I have not yet had my driving lesson."

Michel says, "I'd dump it in a slightly more reputable part of town, if such a place exists"

Wilfred asks (of Gaston), "perhaps you could let him go now?"

Gaston assumes the shape of the driver.

[nobilis] Thug says, "(there's the library it came from nearby, you recall)"

[nobilis] Thug says (to Gaston), "ok, creation miracle (4)"

Gaston stows the real driver in the back of the van.

[nobilis] Gaston says (to Thug), "Hm, a point, then."

Wilfred says (to Gaston), "See here! You've got to unparalyse the driver."

[nobilis] Raul asks, "Isn't shapeshift like that a gift of his?"

Michel says, "Okay, let's drive it there. I'll point out the main points of driving to Gaston as we go"

[nobilis] GM says, "oh, whoops, right"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "Oh, fine, then."

Gaston says, "Yay."

Gaston says, "A new skill for me."

GM says, "Gaston has Aspect 1 and Michel has Aspect 2, so Gaston doesn't crash on the way there"

Michel says, "Once there, let's hop out, stick the driver in the seat, and hop in the back! Budda boom, budda bing."

Wilfred throws up his hands and goes off to use a more orthodox entrance to the chancel.

Alexandra asks (of Kori), "While the boys muck around with their nonsense in Vegas, want to take care of resizing Yaj?"

GM says, "you all make it back to the chancel, Wilfred arriving a bit later"

Gaston says (to Michel), "Thankfully Penny is not here, or she would find that suggestion amusingly suggestive."

Kori says, "I was hoping that Vona would want to do it herself, seeing as it'll cost another two points"

Kori says, "but I guess I could"

Michel smirks

[nobilis] GM says, "(if you want, you could say it was a temporary sustained miracle)"

[nobilis] Kori says, "(oh, ah, ok)"

[nobilis] Alexandra asks, "btw, do points refresh at the end of a session, or a storyline?"

[nobilis] GM says, "I think at the end of a storyline, or when handicaps come into play"

Kori stops holding Yaj at miniature size, once they've got him somewhere where doing that won't tear up half the chancel.

Raul says (to Kori), "Good thing I brought him out here."

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "ah. so, best not to blow them out in one night. got it"

[nobilis] GM says, "(so is there an outside area in the chancel or not? since that'd be an obvious place to resize yaj)"

Gaston says (to Kori), "It'd be amusing to do that while Raul is still carrying him."

[nobilis] Kori says, "in the courtyard, I think"

[nobilis] Michel says, "yeah"

[nobilis] GM says, "hokay"

Kori says (to Gaston), "but not very nice."

[nobilis] Wilfred says, "(since I'll be back a bit later than the others ... be back in a minute."

Gaston says, "True."

Raul says, "especially since I'd probably lose my balance and accidentally drop him towards the nearest Frenchman."

Gaston says, "Ha."

Yajpelapel shrugs his shoulders and stretches his arms out in surprise as he begins to grow again, rising up again until he has again resumed his former sizer

Michel has a victory cigarette

Yajpelapel puts a hand to his brow and glances around the chancel

Yajpelapel says, "(worriedly) so many gardens ..."

Yajpelapel doesn't move his feet

Gaston says (to Yajpelapel), "Consider it a learning experience."

Kori asks (of Yajpelapel), "So. You're cordially invited to, er, help keep this place free of unwanted invasion.... uh, problem?"

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "I hope he doesn't have allergies..."

Raul says, "We can see about finding you some garden-free space"

Vona appears right about now

Raul says, "which would also make Michel happy."

Vona says, "ah, excellent"

Vona says, "just the giant I was looking for"

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "Nice for Vona to show up at the appropriate moment."

[Crows-Nest] Ghogg says, "Vona lives in 'approximate time'"

[Crows-Nest] (from Alexandra) Vona says, "For a snack."

Vona flies up to hover in front of Yajpelapel, and has a brief conversation, of which faint rumblings reach you on the ground

Vona's voice filters down. "And you won't be needing *this* anymore"

Yajpelapel's disguise drops away and he once more looks just like a giant

[Crows-Nest] Gaston says (to Michel), "He might not know the difference."

[Crows-Nest] Gaston says, "The Imperator might have been dressed down."

Vona gestures, and Yajpelapel's form begins to fade away; he drifts downwards into the ground and is gone.

Franklin says, "Oh my."

Vona says, "you don't think he can stand around the place all the time -- he'd step on the gardens again"

Gaston asks (of Vona), "Under what terms?"

Kori says, "poor guy doesn't get out much"

Penny asks, "you bound him AGAIN?"

Vona says, "we agreed he would have a week free every year, and would be summoned if the chancel is threatened"

Wilfred is busy filling out a report.

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "Terms? 5.9% APR mortgage, can be refinanced after ten years."

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra says, "hee hee"

Vona frowns. "And kindly do not question my decisions."

Michel shrugs. "Sounds reasonable."

Penny says, "I suppose that's a better deal than he had before"

Vona says, "I should say so."

Gaston says (to Vona), "I apologise. You are not ungenerous."

Franklin says, "If you wanted robots, you should have built robots."

Vona says (to Franklin), "it's so difficult to get good robots these days"

[Crows-Nest] Penny exclaims (at Gaston), "Imperator's Pet!"

[Crows-Nest] Gaston exclaims, "She frowned at me!"

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "hee"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "leave him alone, he's French"

Gaston says, "Our Powers seem to work well together."

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "wow. I figured we'd about wrapped. cool :)"

Vona says, "I should hope you would not think me so foolish as to pick unpromising candidates"

Franklin sits down on a bench.

Penny tries to work out if her power did anything, but at least she got to fly.

Michel says (to penny), "You negotiated."

Vona says, "speaking of which, there was a visitor for you"

Michel asks (of Vona), "mm?"

Raul says (to Penny), "and tried to scratch his itch"

Vona says (to Monk), "tell Edmund they're back"

Wilfred asks, "(instinctively) Did he have an appointment?"

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra says, "yay monk ;)"

Penny asks, "Edmund? who is Edmund?"

[Crows-Nest] Gaston says (to Wilfred), "heh."

Michel says, "I would guess our landlord."

Monk hurries off, and eventually comes back with a dapper black-haired man.

Vona has, as is apparently her way, vanished.

[nobilis] Michel asks, "is he Noble? human?"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin asks, "does he look like rowan atkinson?"

Penny says, "You would be Edmund, then."

[nobilis] Gaston says, "vona-ished"

[Crows-Nest] Michel says (to Franklin), "that's it, ask the important questions"

[nobilis] Edmund says, "those of you looking at him with the sight can see that he is Noble, with some sort of vague gateway sketched out around him in his aura"

Franklin sags momentarily like an old man who could use a nap.

Edmund grasps Franklin's hand and shakes it enthusiastically. "A collector! I always admire them! So pleased to meet you"

Raul mouths silently to himself, "Famous Penny Sutcliffe?"

Michel leans back against a wall and observes quietly

Edmund says, "now, let me see\"

Franklin says, "Ah! -- Ah, charmed, yes, I'm sure."

Gaston says (to Penny) (suspiciously), "Under what name, then?"

Edmund winks at Michel as he talks

Franklin readjusts his jacket after being shaken.

Edmund reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a surprising number of envelopes

Penny says (to Gaston), "(coyly) Oh, I couldn't possibly say"

Michel instantly takes a dislike to Edmund

Edmund distributes them (they appear to have your names on the outside)

Edmund says, "Galer is putting on a little party in a few days -- he asked me to pass on invitations to you all"

Wilfred has worked very hard to blend into the background and be easily forgotten....

Wilfred says, "Speaking of which, I think I may have found just the right little nook in this chancel to set up my office."

Michel says, "I shall, I think, attend to the business of an anchor instead, and attend to your results"

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "Maybe she lives in Locus Tupperware."

Penny says (to Everyone), "I really didn;t like him"

[nobilis] GM says, "nothing large enough to be damaging to the chancel at the moment -- but that doesn't mean there's nothing here"

Michel says (to Penny), "I am forced to agree"

Penny says, "I have a suspicion that this soiree will be nothing more than a series of threats"

Raul asks (of Penny), "Did you hear his statement to me?"

[nobilis] Penny says, "can I summon our landlord to ask him"

Michel says, "we are new, and likely to face intimidation as such, yes"

Penny says (to Raul), "yes. I am guessing our anchors may be at risk"

Wilfred says (to Penny), "Networking can be a nasty, backstabbing business."

[nobilis] GM says, "sure, if you want -- you can send a monk for him"

Gaston says, "I don't see any signs of an evil plot as yet."

Gaston says, "But his attempt to intimidate us was annoying."

Penny asks (of monk), "could you ask our landlord to come and consult with us, please?"

Wilfred notes the date/time down in his agenda.

Gaston asks, "How did he make his own entrance and exit?"

Raul says (for the benefit of others), "Edmund was nice enough to tell me that people I know may be at the party."

Wilfred says, "Indeed."

Franklin asks, "Did he say who?"

Raul says, "And he sketched a wooden door to make his exit. Left to some other chancel -- I got an impression of bright white light and hospital-like hallways."

[nobilis] Alexandra asks (of GM), "does the invite say if this soiree is to occur in a chancel other than ours?"

Wilfred says, "I wonder if this counts for the rest of us."

[nobilis] Penny says, "I would guess so"

Raul says (to Franklin), "No."

Wilfred . o O ( I wonder where my brother John is now.... )

[nobilis] Penny says, "Locus Style, i guess"

Michel says, "if it is indeed a direct trap, which I doubt, we would be at some disadvantage in another chancel. If not... there are benefits. Nonetheless"

[nobilis] GM says, "(yes)"

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "oops, yes. thanks"

[nobilis] Franklin asks, "does this hospital-like chancel square with what I saw when the paper vanished?"

Gaston says, "At any rate, we should not all go."

Gaston says, "But some of us should go."

Michel says, "I, for one, am quite happy to stay away."

[nobilis] GM says, "no; the paper was in a much darker room altogether, more like a study"

Michel says, "I shall go and, ah, attend to other matters"

Wilfred says (to Gaston), "(frowning) if you said you were going, it's rude not to."

Penny wonders where the landlord is

Landlord eventually shows up, following a monk.

Landlord says, "ah, hrm, mrm"

Gaston says (to Wilfred), "I am French."

Raul says, "If there are going to be people there I know, I need to attend."

Landlord says, "what's all this? I was at my *papers*"

Franklin says, "I shall attend."

Landlord gazes around at you. "Eh? Well? Speak up!"

Franklin says, "You again!"

Penny says (to landlord), "I wished to ask you if there is word of anything unusual around the chancel."

Landlord asks, "me again? what do you mean?"

Raul says, "Plus I'm curious about why the Power of Entrances is involved -- that's rather close to my domain."

Alexandra says (to Raul), "as is Gambling to mine"

Landlord says, "*unusual*, eh? hrm, hrm"

Gaston says (to Raul), "Oh, that is his domain? I see."

Michel says, "as is Containers to mine"

Landlord strokes his chin.

Penny says (to landlord), "new and unusual, specifically"

Michel says, "(snrk)"

Wilfred says, "I daresay there's a Power of Red Tape out there. It doesn't concern me,"

Gaston says (to Wilfred), "I thought that *was* you."

Raul says (to Alex and Michel), "Good points."

Landlord does appear to be Bart, and not to recognize you.

Gaston says (to Wilfred), "The power of Duct Tape, now, you should be wary of."

Landlord says, "not that I've seen, but I'll tell the monks to keep an eye out"

Wilfred says (to Gaston), "I'm Bureaucracy. There is a slight difference. Red tape wouldn't access filing system, and Bureaucracy won't touch hair ribbons."

Michel says, "Nonetheless, in any two groups of sufficient size, such similarities are bound to be possible to construct"

Landlord asks, "is there something in specific they should be looking for?"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "narrows his gaze."

[nobilis] Franklin says, "doh"

Penny says (to landlord), "anything which might potentially be a threat to the chancel"

Landlord stiffens up a bit. "They are always looking for that, miss!"

Alexandra says (to Landlord), "Interlopers. Visitors from outside, or informational inqueries from outside"

Landlord asks, "*visitors*, eh?"

Raul asks (of Michel), "Sure. Though how big is this party, and why do the people that've been named seem close to our domains?"

Penny says, "including things like new entrances, people who you do not recognise, and so on"

Penny says, "mm, overlapping domains"

Wilfred says (to Landlord), "perhaps some documentation process ... an entry log, or a register ... daily reports...."

Landlord calls a monk over, and they have a quiet conversation (or, at least, he seems to be talking and getting information from the monk somehow).

Landlord exclaims, "aha! Edmund was here recently!"

Landlord says, "I believe he just left"

Penny asks (of landlord), "any visitors other than Edmund? and has he been here before?"

Penny says (to Others), "I think the soiree is pretty evidently a trap"

Landlord says, "well, the chancel's only been around a week -- Edmund's stopped by once or twice before"

Wilfred says (to Penny), "I disagree."

Kori says, "ok"

Penny asks (of Landlord), "oh, _has_ he?"

Gaston says (to Penny), "True, but it might simply be a double-bluff -- we'll look foolish if we don't attend."

Kori says, "let's just not go"

Alexandra says, "It seems there's reason to be wary, but not necessairily reason to assume the worst"

Wilfred says (to Penny), "It's probably more of a testing ground ... before they decide on how best to implement a trap."

Gaston says, "I think some of us should go, if only to gather information."

Penny says, "I did not say we should not go"

Alexandra says, "After all, we *are* new, and it's sensible that some of our fellow Nobles should wish to meet us"

Landlord says, "Vona gave me to understand he makes it a habit to pass messages around"

Penny says, "all I said was that it was a trap"

Michel says, "I would advocate at least three going, at least two staying"

Gaston says, "Yes."

Landlord says, "I think he's just a gossip, myself"

Penny asks (of landlord), "what is his domain?"

Raul says (to Kori), "Given what Edmond said, I want to attend, no matter how obvious a ploy it might or might not be."

Landlord says, "Doors, I believe"

Michel says, "but for those who have not signed, not to attend would be an insult"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin asks, "does he know jim morrison?"

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "heehee"

Gaston asks (of Michel), "*not* signed?"

Kori says, "I could develop a migraine."

Michel says, "the other way about"

[Crows-Nest] Landlord says, "you could ask him. and he would say "Jim *Morrison*, eh?""

[nobilis] Ghogg asks, "Do deities get migranes?"

Penny asks (of landlord), "Vona is aware of his visits?"

Gaston asks, "When is this soiree, anyway?"

Franklin says, "<date>"

Landlord scratches his head.

[nobilis] Landlord says, "(it's in a few days -- I'm still playing fast and loose with the actual date here)"

Landlord says (to Penny), "well, let me see"

Landlord says (to Penny), "he gave us *messages* for her some of the time, you know"

Landlord says, "and once he *talked* to her"

Gaston says, "Who signed? I did, though not with my artist's signature."

Franklin says, "I wonder what one is supposed to wear to such affairs."

Michel says, "you know, Vona's demands appear to have been somewhat easy as of yet"

Alexandra says, "I signed, and intend to go."

Wilfred says, "I initialed, but as far as I'm concerned that's as good as a signature."

Franklin says, "Four of us shall go, then."

Raul says, "I signed as well"

Penny says (to landlord), "this kind of information would also be of interest to us, in future"

Landlord says, "eh? well, if you like"

Gaston says, "I admit to superstitious concerns over the power a signature holds. I am new to all this."

Penny asks (of landlord), "has he been the only visitor?"

[Crows-Nest] Michel says, "leave it to penny to turn a chancel disadvantage into an advantage"

Landlord says, "I'll assign one of the monks to pass on the visitor notices to you, Miss Sutcliffe"

Wilfred says (to Gaston), "I will let you know when the legalaties require a signature in blood."

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "hush, don't let the GM realise this"

Landlord scratches his head.

Gaston says (to Wilfred), "Thank you."

Landlord says, "the only one, I believe, yes"

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "also, i assume I couls find this out from the monks, but, enh"

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "er, could"

Landlord says, "but of course generally when other imperators wish to talk to Vona, they just do so directly in the spirit realm"

Penny says (to landlord), "thank you."

Gaston says (to Penny), "Stop flirting with the landlord."

Gaston says, "(Said just to make the landlord uncomfortable.)"

[nobilis] Landlord says, "(hrm, realizing I confused 'spirit' and 'mythic' realm before. 'mythic' realm is what you guys exist in along with prosaic reality; 'spirit' realm is basically imperators-only)"

Landlord exclaims, "eh what? that girl's half my age, sir!"

Gaston says, "Heh."

[nobilis] Franklin says, "that would make sense to me if he definitions for mythic and spirit were swapped"

Michel asks, "So. Am I the only one who has not signed?"

[nobilis] Gaston says (to GM), "Gotcha."

Penny says (to michel), "I have not signed"

[nobilis] Landlord says, "sorry, 'before' = in vegas"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "right"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "I just mena, the terminology seems oddly drawn"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "mean"

[nobilis] Landlord says, "oh, aha"

Michel says (to Penny), "unfortunately, I assume you would be a stronger asset in this sort of trivial chit-chat than any of us"

[nobilis] Landlord says, "I think 'mythic' is intended to signify metaphorical and fairy-tale like"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "but I will adjust my brane to fit"

Penny says, "I did say I would be able to attend, not that I would attend."

[nobilis] Landlord says, "but yeah, I see your point"

Gaston says, "Someone else can always claim illness or something."

GM asks, "so who, if anyone, is going? and what are the other people doing?"

Gaston says, "I will go."

Wilfred is going. In the meantime, he's setting up the little corner of the chancel that he's claimed as his own.

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "I had to scroll back and check my wording there"

Raul is going.

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "yay untintentional loophole"

GM says, "and it's in a few days, so you have time to prepare things if you like"

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "unintentional, even"

Gaston says (to Penny), "I'd prefer more than one of us didn't attend, in case it is a trap."

Penny says, "yes, I think some of us should remain here"

Penny says, "I will stay"

[nobilis] GM asks, "right, so are you guys going with advanced weapons technology for the chancel?"

[nobilis] GM asks, "or something else?"

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "also, possibly someone with some actual realm attributes would be helpful defencewise"

[nobilis] Wilfred asks, "Uh, I thought our chancel couldn't do high-tech?"

Alexandra uses some f the meantime to check in with her anchor, Karin, in Seattle, to make sure all is as usual

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "so me staying is possibly a Good Call"

[nobilis] Penny says (to wilfred), "that costs us a point"

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra says (to Penny), "ja"

[Crows-Nest] Gaston says, "And Michel has high Aspect, which could be handy for busting us all out of trouble."

[nobilis] GM says, "currently it has no high-tech barrier, and does have somewhat higher-than-earth levels of technology"

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "Hmm. So we should indeed chancel up some weaponry"

[nobilis] Alexandra asks (of GM), "can we magic up some technology that will warn us of present weaponry?"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin asks, "how does he get a view like that?"

[nobilis] Penny says (to GM), "okay, that's cool"

[Crows-Nest] Penny asks, "the books painted it for him?"

Raul spruces up his corner of the chancel and rustles up a tuxedo.

[Crows-Nest] Wilfred asks, "A Realm 1 miracle?"

Michel puts in a day of astounding research work in his department, in order to stop himself getting kicked out of the university

[nobilis] GM says, "hee hee"

[nobilis] GM asks, "right then, to the party?"

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "hm. If I were playing, I'd consider visiting Luxor again."

Michel says, "so, that's all the research work I'm going to do *this* year"

Franklin also acquires some sort of evening wear.

Penny starts a new novel, full of dark intrigue and mysterious dark men appearing form nowhere.

[nobilis] Alexandra asks (of group), "so what are we taking with us?"

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "my typing is sucks"

[nobilis] Wilfred says, "I am taking ... nothing unusual."

[nobilis] Gaston says (to Alexandra), "My self, my poise, my savoir faire."

[nobilis] Ghogg says, "The scent of Old Spice."

[nobilis] Penny says (to gaston), "a palm pilot is not weaponry. yet"

[Crows-Nest] Wilfred exclaims (at Penny), "You must be a real romance novelist!"

[nobilis] Alexandra asks (of GM), "can we take in some weaponry-detection technology?"

[nobilis] Raul says, "Good thing I can dress up my boots too."

[nobilis] GM says, "I would guess your chancel has pocket metal detectors, if you want that"

[nobilis] GM says, "yes, although it's not clear if it'll work cross-chancel"

Wilfred wears the other grey pinstripe, and puts a fresh carnation in the lapel. Dusts off his bowler hat.

Franklin puts on a silk top hat and spats.

[nobilis] Gaston asks, "Could I talk to someone in the prosaic world with it?"

Wilfred chooses a tie with a red-tape design.

[nobilis] GM says, "hrm"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "From wherever the party is, I mean."

[nobilis] GM says, "no, I don't think so"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "Oh, sod it."

[nobilis] GM says, "I think probably the way this is going to work is stuff like radio waves and so on don't cross chancel boundaries"

[nobilis] Ghogg says, "Just *fall into the trap* people"

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "we can always connect to the prosaic world through anchors"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "I will take some kind of eavesdropping/recording device, and forget the walkie-talkie."

[nobilis] Ghogg says, "that way we get some action going"

[nobilis] GM says, "ok"

[nobilis] Gaston says (to Alex), "Oh, true."

[nobilis] Alex exclaims (at Gaston), "Awwwk! No parse found!"

GM says, "eventually everyone is dressed and Edmund is there"

Wilfred has worked especially hard at making himself forgettable.

Gaston says (to GM), "There are still some important tasks to be done in our chancel."

Penny says (to Edmund), "I fear I have other obligations today"

Wilfred coughs a little embarrasedly.

Gaston says, "(Er, to Edmund.)"

Michel isn't even in the chancel when Edmund turns up

GM glances at Penny for a minute, and then shrugs. "They will all be disappointed to miss you -- but there'll be other parties, I expect."

Edmund says, "I believe there's even one -- no, never mind. One party at a time, that's my motto."

Penny says, "and I'm sure I would be delighted to attend other parties."

Edmund says, "now, let me see"

Penny says, "at another time"

Edmund pulls a small handkerchief out of his pocket and tosses it into the air. It grows and hangs there like a curtain.

Edmund pulls the curtain aside to reveal an archway.

Raul watches appreciatively.

[Crows-Nest] DavidW asks, "heh. Was Edmund a stage magician, once upon a time?"

GM says, "through the archway you see a somewhat shadowy hill (apparently because it's night in there) atop which is a rather brightly-lit casino"

Michel asks, "er, should I go elsewhere, or something?"

Edmund says, "oh, and before I forget -- you can tear these when you want to go back"

Penny watches with vague wistfulness, tinged with amusement.

Edmund hands out a playing card (the two of clubs, to be specific) to each person

Edmund says, "well, come along"

Gaston says (to Penny), "Aw."

Alexandra carefully sticks the card into a pocet

Raul tucks his card into his jacket pocket.

Edmund steps through the archway

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "a pocket, even"

Gaston follows.

[Crows-Nest] Penny says (to Gaston), "YM 'zut alors, l'aww'"

Wilfred follows.

[Crows-Nest] Gaston says, "Well, it was really OOC."

Franklin follows. Grm, hills.

Alexandra steps through

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "or similar frenchified something"

Raul makes his way up the hill.

Kori bravely goes through

Edmund conducts those stepping through up a short escalator on the hill, and through the casino gates

GM says, "curiously, it's less impressive inside than out -- or else they've stuck you into the living room"

GM says, "there's about twenty people standing around and chatting, some holding drinks"

Gaston says, "I have not seen such a luxuriously appointed hill before. Very good."

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "hm. I wonder what the gambling stakes will be. Just... wondering."

GM says, "a few turn and nod as you come in"

[nobilis] Michel hides this window

Gaston asks, "Anyone we recognise?"

GM says, "not besides Edmund"

Penny waits until the doorway vanishes, and then goes to work on a translation of her first novel.

Gaston saunters drinkwards.

Raul joins Gaston by the drinks, taking stock.

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "I figure I can make a fair amount of cash translating my novels :)"

GM says, "there are a few uniformed waiters standing around with drink trays"

Gaston says (to Raul), "Well, this seems innocent enough."

Raul asks, "Yes. I've not seen anyone I recognize. You?"

Gaston says (to garcon), "Red wine, please."

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra says, "ha. excellent use of newfound powers"

Wilfred stands on the periphery.

Gaston says (to Raul), "No."

Alexandra picks up a glass of white wine and joins Wilfred

Waiter says (to Gaston), "there you are, sir"

Wilfred requests sherry.

Raul lifts a red wine off a passing tray.

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "hey, unlike some of us, I can't will an income into existence"

Gaston says, "So let us mingle."

Gaston looks around for females.

Raul drifts through the crowd, listening for interesting conversations.

Lo enters from a back room and sits in the corner.

GM says, "there are both females and males at the party, yes"

[Crows-Nest] Penny scowls at Gaston slightly

Gaston says, "I'll approach a random approachable-looking one, then."

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra says, "'hey babe, what's your power?' would certainly be an unusual pickup line"

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "heehee"

[Crows-Nest] Raul says, "'I'm aspect 3. How about you?'"

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra exclaims, "ha!"

[Crows-Nest] Gaston says, "Hee hee hee."

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra says, "'I'd move mountains for you. No, really, I would ...'"

Amanda is a female, for instance, and she is wandering over towards you

Amanda exclaims, "ah, so glad you could make it!"

Alexandra sips her drink and stays out of the mixing

Gaston says (to Amanda), "Of course I would not miss an occasion like this."

Amanda says, "have you found everything you want? I had offered to give the waiters a lecture on good taste, but Galer was being such a pig and absolutely refused to let me"

Amanda asks, "can you believe it?"

Wilfred never did do too well at parties ... but still ...

Lo stands up, adjusts his bow tie, and wanders around the periphery of the room.

Amanda asks, "this wine, for instance -- can you believe he's serving it in glasses with *round* rims instead of oval?"

Gaston says (to Amanda), "Perhaps he feels uniformed waiters should also be uninformed."

Armande singles out Wilfred. "I don't know about you, but you look as if you could use a drink."

Gaston says, "Sadly the Power of Language was not able to attend, and appreciate the joke."

Amanda seems unsure whether to take this as a joke or not

Franklin traps someone and launches into an interminable lecture on American Colonial paper production in a loud voice.

Wilfred says (to Armande), "I have this sherry, thank you."

Amanda's face clears. "Ah, I see."

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "I am wondering if that was a wistful comment"

[nobilis] Alexandra asks, "can Nobles percieve other Nobles domains by looking at them?"

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "he won't mention me so wistfully once he realises I write ROMANCE NOVELS"

Amanda says (to Gaston), "so, tell me, how are you liking being a Nobilis? Personally, I feel it's the best thing that ever happened tome"

[nobilis] Amanda says, "yes sorta"

Armande asks (of Wilfred), "Oh, I *do* like that tie. Such quality material. May I?"

Gaston asks (of Amanda), "How do you know Galer, madamoiselle?"

[nobilis] Amanda says, "you can get an idea of their domain by looking at this"

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "I imagine that a few faux pas will be made at this party, considering that everyone is Newbilis."

Gaston looks slightly irked that Amanda is paying more attention to Wilfred.

Lo turns to Franklin and bows slightly in greeting as he goes on about pulp ratios

Raul finishes his drink and miraculously finds a clear path through the crowd to the drinks again.

[nobilis] Gaston exclaims (at Armande), "Oh, oops!"

Armande rubs the tie between finger and thumb. "Most new arrivals have just *no* comprehension of what constitutes good material."

[nobilis] Gaston says, "Right."

[nobilis] Amanda says, "Amanda has a sharp-edged aura; it's not clear what that means"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "if the spanish armada shows up, we're really sunk"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "Hee hee."

Wilfred has no idea, either, actually ... he just shops in the same place his grandfather shopped.

Gaston says (to Amanda), "Drake? Another person I have not met."

Franklin seizes on this to go and bore Lo to death too.

Lo asks (of Franklin), "Perchance you could enlighten me on a question of paper?"

Franklin says, "Of course!"

Wilfred says (to Armande), "I don't believe we've been introduced. My name is Edwards. Wilfred Owen Edwards."

Amanda's eyebrows fly up and she looks incredibly surprised. "You haven't met Drake? But I thought -- oh, of course, you're new, I keep forgetting."

Amanda says, "Drake is my brother, Competition's Regal."

Lo says, "I have been fiddling about with new paper to proper display my haiku, you see."

Gaston says (to Amanda), "New, but eager to become acquainted."

[nobilis] Gaston resisted the temptation to put an ellipsis after 'become' there.

[Crows-Nest] Penny says, "as it were"

Franklin says (to Lo), "Mmmhmm, mhmmm."

Armande says, "Now this cloak, I bred a line of silkworms specifically to get this effect. Here, feel that? Perfection."

Armande says, "Have another sherry."

Lo asks (of Franklin), "I have been using the traditional scrolls but I wanted a more...distinctive style. Do you have anything to suggest?"

Amanda says (to Gaston), "well, certainly we must see to it that you become acquainted then. knowing the right people is ever-so-important, I feel"

Franklin goes on and on about Japanese papermaking.

Wilfred says (to Armande), "you seem rather fond of materials."

Amanda says (to Gaston), "I'm putting on a bit of a get-together -- oh, but I am terribly sorry, I should formally introduce myself"

Armande says (to Wilfred), "As I should be, my dear."

Gaston says (to Amanda), "My fault entirely, madamoiselle. I am Gaston Lecroq, Marquis of Reflection."

Amanda says, "my name is Amanda Lynn, Viscountess of Self-Improvement"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "HA"

Wilfred asks (of Armande), "Material?"

[Crows-Nest] Raul falls over.

Armande says (to Wilfred), "funny *and* sharp"

Amanda dimples slightly. "One must publish these things under a pseudonym, of course."

Gaston exclaims (at Amanda), "How very interesting!"

Gaston says (to Amanda), "I myself have always worked strenuously to improve my artistic skills, though it is difficult."

Amanda says, "oh, yes, we artists must stick together"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "I keep misspelling her name as 'Adam'."

Lo asks (of Franklin), "You are wise to know your material so well. You are from the new chancel, I presume?"

Amanda says, "and I must introduce you to my brother Rike -- Baronet of Awards, don't you know"

Kori pokes quietly around the sidelines of the party, looking for a tray with sushi on it.

Wilfred says (to Armande), "If I were so sharp, I'd know your name by now."

[nobilis] Penny says (to Gaston), "I fear the level of flirting you are managing, then"

Amanda says, "have you seen those successories posters? that's been a bit of a project we've been working on"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "Hey, role-playing."

Franklin says (to Lo), "Hmm, yes. We're all still a bit wet behind the ears."

[nobilis] Gaston asks (of Penny), "You don't fear inky more?"

[nobilis] Penny says, "this is true"

[nobilis] Alexandra says, "ok, clearly those dedicated to the Light must off Amanda and save humanity from successories"

[nobilis] Penny says, "I notice Kori is Ignoring this"

[nobilis] Wilfred exclaims (at Alex), "Hee!"

[nobilis] Alex exclaims (at Wilfred), "Awwwk! You're a great crowd! I'll be here all night -- try the tarte au chocolat aux cork nuts!"

Gaston asks (of Amanda), "No. Do you have any here I could look at?"

Armande asks (of Wilfred), "so, you must tell me all about- I hear Vona has given you Bureaucracy, yes?"

[nobilis] Raul says, "I'm drifting around trying drinks"

[nobilis] Kori says, "hey, the Power of Edges isn't supposed to hang out at the center of the party"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "I must point out that Gaston is now thinking of angling for a quick modelling session."

[nobilis] Gaston says, "As it were."

Lo says (to Franklin), "I do try to keep an eye out for any new chancels that involve large quantities of books."

Franklin asks, "Oh?"

Wilfred says (to Armande), "Yes."

Amanda says, "no, I'm afraid not -- but I'll be sure to send some samples on to your chancel to look at"

Amanda says, "I do feel it is so important for posters to reflect only what is best and brightest about human endeavors, as I'm sure you'll agree"

Wilfred . o O ( does this person have a problem with introductions? )

Kori casts a dark look at Amanda and thinks sharp pointy thoughts.

Bronwynn is standing regally by the sushi, occasionally conveying one or two to her mouth with chopsticks.

Armande arranges a well-dressed arm around Wilfred's shoulders, while gesturing elegantly with his wineglass. "Your chancel sounds absolutely delightful. I trust you played a major part in its... oh, how rude, of course"

Lo says (to Franklin), "Of course I can slip out any book I want on my subject out of my head, but the selection chosen in *particular* sites can be quite intriguing. The tilt towards Western or Eastern philosophies, towards Ancient and Modern."

Bronwynn says (to Kori), "ah .. so you would be Kori."

Leona drifts in, and stands on the sidelines watching the proceedings.

Gaston says (to Amanda), "In part -- I think art must reflect all, but we must encourage the best and brightest in reality itself."

Kori sidles up to the sushi and inspects the tray.

Kori says (to Bronwynn), "er-- yes. You've the advantage of me, I'm afraid"

Raul continues looking for conversations, making sure to detour widely around Gaston and Amanda.

Bronwynn says, "yes."

Bronwynn says, "but nevertheless, you had better introduce yourself fully; the forms must be observed"

Kori . o O ( oh, I had, had I? )

Armande bows deeply. "The Viscount of Cloth, at your service."

Gaston unobtrusively looks around for alternative females.

Leona says (to Raul), "aha, you would be the Marquis of Paths"

Kori says (to Bronwynn), "Kori Barstow, Duchess of Edges."

Wilfred asks (of Armande), "My pleasure, Mr.....?"

Raul bows to Leona. "Indeed. Raul Miera. And you are?

[nobilis] Gaston says, "I guess I'll wait and let others have a chance to talk a bit first, though."

Bronwynn raises her eyebrows, in an oh-a-DUCHESS-eh manner

[nobilis] Gaston idles to make tea.

Kori picks up a piece of fatty tuna and consumes it without seeming to notice the eyebrows.

Bronwynn says, "I, of course, am Bronwynn. Ocean's Duchess."

Leona says (to Raul), "Leona, Viscountess of Containers. At your service."

Kori says (to Bronwynn), "oh? -- oh."

Armande says, "Ah, an old-fashioned gentleman, how delightful. Armande Sauvigne is my name."

Kori nods to her politely, and gestures at the sushi. "This your work? Commendable stuff, if so."

Raul says, "Good to meet you. Edward mentioned that you would be attending."

Wilfred says (to Armande), "My pleasure, Mr Sauvigne. As mentioned: Wilfred Owen Edwards. Marquess of Bureaucracy."

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "yow."

Leona says, "Ah yes, Edward"

[Crows-Nest] Alexandra says, "crowded room"

Armande says, "Now, has that old workhorse Vona put you to any trouble yet? I hear she's dreadful, though, of course, hush-hush and all that"

Franklin excuses himself and wanders off to look for a restroom.

[Crows-Nest] DavidW asks, "Did Kori intentionally compare Bronwynn to a cater waiter?"

Wilfred . o O ( you don't know dreadful until you see government paperwork )

Kori dips a bit of hamachi in soy sauce.

[Crows-Nest] Kori says, "no, Kori meant Sushi In General"

Wilfred says, "I assure you, work so far has been a pleasure."

Leona says (to Raul), "We were all looking forward so much to meeting your family."

[Crows-Nest] Kori says, "which, in her opinion, would be quite an achievement."

[Crows-Nest] markm says, "Mmm... sushi"

Lo rubs his bald head and glances around the room.

Armande says, "doubtless, doubtless..."

[nobilis] Raul asks (of GM), "in what tone of voice did Leona say 'Edward'?"

Bronwynn looks stern for a moment, then her face unfreezes. "I do see to it that the best fish arrive at parties I will be attending, yes."

Wilfred says, "But I fear you have me at a disadvantage. Tell me more about your own chancel."

[nobilis] Leona says, "a kind of fond, but resigned voice."

[nobilis] Bronwynn says, "Ed*mund*, actually"

[nobilis] Leona says, "and yes"

[nobilis] Raul says, "oh, whoops"

Bronwynn says, "I have a bit of an arrangement with the Duke of Rice"

[nobilis] Leona says, "she temporarily forgot the name."

Kori looks faintly squirmy, evidently aware she has made a faux pas, but is not inclined to apologize directly since she's not quite sure how. Perhaps she should talk to Amanda actually.

Bronwynn says, "and the nori is of course also under my aegis"

Raul says (to Leona), "I have to admit, this is somewhat overwhelming."

Leona says (to Raul), "Not all of you appear to have attended."

Kori says (to Bronwynn), "excellent"

Bronwynn says, "so .. er .."

Franklin is still looking around for a restroom in this crazy place.

Kori debates whether it would be another mistake to compliment the tidiness of the sushi-rolling, since technically this falls under her own domain.

Bronwynn seems to be attempting to make polite conversation, not very successfully.

Armande says, "Oh, this isn't my chancel, oh no, I'm from this nice little place up towards the top of the Tree- have you heard of Locus Cadens? Wonderful little nook, you must visit"

Bronwynn asks, "how do you find your chancel?"

Kori says (to Bronwynn), "By going in thr-- er, I -- I guess it's very nice."

Kori says, "I haven't seen a lot of other chancels to compare it to."

Raul says (to Leona), "As new as we are to this world, some of us are still adjusting to it."

Lo saunters over the the side of the room discussing the new chancel.

[nobilis] GM says, "(this is Armande's chancel, actually, although he doesn't have to admit it)"

Armande says, "It has the most wonderful little pixies"

Wilfred asks, "Indeed?"

Kori is desperately trying to seem nonchalant but is totally out of her depth.

Bronwynn says, "ah, good"

Alexandra sidles over to Kori

Leona says (to Raul), "That is to be expected."

Alexandra asks (of Kori), "enjoying the affair?"

Bronwynn says, "well, I am pleased to see my efforts were not *altogether* wasted"

Kori looks faintly grateful.

Kori asks (of Bronwynn), "oh, did you have a hand in it?"

Leona asks (of Raul), "I assume you have spoken to Bronwynn?"

Bronwynn gathers her skirts slightly and slips off to the other part of the room, not answering.

Kori says (to Bronwynn), "this is Alexandra, by the way"

Kori says, "...oh."

Raul says, "Actually, I haven't."

Kori says, "oops."

Kori sighs faintly.

Kori says (to Alexandra), "(under her breath) I don't think I have the hang of this at *all*."

Leona says (to Raul), "Oh? Edmund gave me the impression that was the reason you were attending."

Herbert steps into the room. "Ah, I'm here!"

Armande has by now cornered Wilfred by the drinks, and is pouting rather a little too much

[nobilis] Raul says, "Do I know Bronwynn? I say as my mind whirls."

Alexandra says (to Kori), "Me either. Wonder if 'small talk' is something we ca research in the chancekl"

[nobilis] Amanda says, "(no)"

Kori eats several more pieces of sushi to console herself.

Amanda looks over nervously, "Oh no."

Leona says (to Raul), "but he does like to engage in hyperbole. no practicality, that one."

Wilfred . o O ( danger wilf robinson danger )

Franklin returns to the room.

Gaston fetches more red wine, and goes back on the prowl.

Herbert exclaims, "ah, Armande! Great party!"

Raul says (to Leona), "Perhaps he was thinking of someone else."

Herbert slaps Armande heartily on the back.

Kori says (to Alexandra), "well, I get the impression that Bronwynn there had something to do with our chancel, or us getting there, or something"

Herbert exclaims, "well-dressed as always!"

Armande says (to Wilfred), "So what do you thi- oof"

Franklin says, "They were out of toilet paper, if you can believe it! But, that's all taken care of now."

[nobilis] Herbert says (to Franklin), "ha"

Leona says (to Raul), "perhaps"

Armande says, "how... nice to see you, Herbert"

Kori says (to Alexandra), "and I accidentally pissed her off by not being all enthusiastic, but I wasn't sure if we were supposed to keep chancel talk hush hush"

Raul says (to Leona), "At this point I'm wondering how long before I get the hang of things."

Wilfred looks at Armande and Herbert. Hmm.

Kori says, "I do wish that Vona had given us, um, a little Orientation or something"

[nobilis] Gaston asks, "Where is this Bronwynne now?"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "was also looking around and stuff, but presumably didn't notice anything amiss"

Leona says (to Raul), "You will find it will not take long."

Herbert drapes an arm over Armande's shoulders, and whispers to him conspiratorily. "Now, I don't want to over-excite you, but as it happens, I have just created what may well be the most impressive thing yet--"

Gaston says (to Kori), "I have no problem with my orientation, madame."

Lo says (to Kori), "Vona can be that way."

Wilfred says (to Herbert), "Good evening."

[Crows-Nest] DavidW says, "Oh right. Oceans. Water."

[Crows-Nest] Leona says, "*cough*"

Kori looks around at Gaston.

Armande says (to Herbert), "[sotto-voce] *not* *now*"

Lo bows deeply, "I am Master Lo. And a good evening to you."

Herbert glances over at Wilfred nervously, then back again to Armande.

Gaston sips wine innocently.

Raul says (to Leona), "I'm pleased to have feet again, certainly."

Herbert asks, "well -- you sure you don't want to hear about my dual-action stapler-remover-hole-puncher now?"

Wilfred tries to fade more into the wallpaper. Which, unfortunately, is neither his domain nor in his realm.

Kori says (to Gaston), "careful, or people will take you for the Viscount of Compasses."

[nobilis] Herbert says (to Gaston), "over to the other side of the room, for the moment"

Leona asks (of Raul), "Oh?"

Wilfred asks (of Herbert), "Your what?"

Herbert says (to Wilfred), "me? ah -- er -- nothing, nothing at all"

Armande asks, "[weak-voice] The one that synchronises to stipple-stitch even on fragile fabrics?"

Gaston approaches Bronwynne, then, who seems to be the available female NPC.

[nobilis] Kori says, "man, I designed Kori to be a bit of a loner, but 'total social retard' wasn't part of the original concept"

Herbert says (to Armande), "(in an undertone) it *also* has a paperclip dispenser"

Leona says (to Raul), "I am happy to have been able to contribute so much to my domain."

[nobilis] Gaston says, "Aw."

Wilfred asks (of Herbert), "You do have it patented, right?"

Armande says (to Herbert), "oh go on, then"

Lo says (to Kori), "I presume you are with the group from the new chancel? Could you introduce me to everyone? Franklin seemed more interested in paper. Good chap, him, but not good for introductions."

Herbert asks (of Armande), "ah -- hrm, I hadn't thought about stitch synchroniz-- what? have what pantented?"

Raul asks (of Lenoa), "What all have you done?"

Raul smiles. "Assuming it's polite of me to ask."

Armande virtually propels Herbert out of the room

Kori says (to Lo), "Ah, well, I should start with me, then -- Kori Barstow, um, Power of Edges."

Leona says, "well, I personally revolutionised modern food hygiene."

Herbert says, "I -- uh -- oof"

Kori says (to Lo), "And over here is Raul, who does Paths and Finding Stuff"

Alexandra asks (of Lo), "Alex Kettering. Currency. And you are...?"

Armande says (to Wilfred), "I'll see *you* later"

Raul says, "True, true."

Lo bows politely to Raul.

[Crows-Nest] jwalrus says, "I am so impressed that inky has not cracked up yet"

[nobilis] Bronwynn says, "anyone who wants to talk to Bronwynn again could do so now"

Wilfred says (to Armande), "I'm sure you will."

[Crows-Nest] Leona says, "so much flirting, so little time between cracking up"

Kori says, "and you've guessed that Franklin does Paper, I suppose. Especially vooming it places."

[Crows-Nest] Bronwynn says, "not all of these are me, I should point out"

Raul says (to Lo), "Oh, hello."

Bronwynn says, "(belatedly) charmed to meet you, I'm sure"

Raul says (to Lenoa), "I should introduce you to the others, assuming you haven't met them."

Kori tries to telepathically instruct Gaston to be nice and careful and stuff, but fails.

[Crows-Nest] Bronwynn laughs

[Crows-Nest] Armande says, "because it's just incomprehensible right now. exactly the right vibe"

[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "yeah, I feel cheated"

[Crows-Nest] Bronwynn exclaims (at jwalrus), "delegation is a skill too!"

[nobilis] Gaston says (to Kori), "I think the instruction is 'stop role-playing'."

Leona says (to Raul), "That would be most pleasing."

Gaston asks (of Bronwynn), "And your name is a secret?"

[nobilis] Kori says, "well yeah"

[Crows-Nest] Leona asks, "did we actually fool you for any length of time, there?"

Armande swans back into the room

Kori makes more gestures with her eyebrows which she fondly imagines to be the modern day version of teh telegraph.

Franklin looks for a conversation to barge into.

Gaston asks (of Bronwynn), "He is the Power of Water, yes?"

Raul says, "The man going on about the wonders of high-count pulp is Franklin Merriman, Duke of Paper."

Bronwynn says, "ah, well, that would hardly do, since -- no, salt water is within my purview as well. he is the Marquis of Adaptability"

[nobilis] Franklin asks, "who's power of water?"

Leona says (to Raul), "you are an interestingly varied family."

Wilfred takes another glass of sherry and an uncharacteristically large sip.

[nobilis] Gaston says, "I thought it was Lobster Guy from episode 1."

Armande says (to Raul), "and you would be the Power of Pathways, yes? mrrm"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "But I guess not."

Raul says, "And there is Wilfred Owen Edwards, Marquis of Bureaucracy."

Bronwynn says, "but as the junior member of the chancel, he is the one generally sent out on the more trivial missions"

Raul says (to Armande), "Yes."

Gaston says (to Bronwynn), "I see."

Kori gets herself a whole plate of shrimps.

Raul nods to the man he doesn't yet know is Armande.

Bronwynn says, "I had to reprimand him most severely for that little escapade, too. although I suppose Vona had it all planned in advance"

[nobilis] Franklin says, "wait, who's Eric? I'm totally lost on all these names"

Kori looks up dubiously, caught mid-shrimp, and doesn't know what to do with the tail.

Leona says (to Raul), "That's a helpful trait."

Wilfred goes over to Franklin. Need ally.

Gaston says (to Bronwynn), "I'm surprised Eric remembers me. Our meeting was before my, ah, elevation."

Kori says (to Armande), "I --er, yes, I am. Nice to meet you, too."

Franklin says, "Ah, hello."

Armande says, "where the *hell* did you get that dress? it looks [infinitely tiny pause] amazing on you"

[nobilis] Gaston says, "I'm just assuming it was the guy I met briefly last week."

[nobilis] Bronwynn says, "Eric is the marquis of adaptability, and (presumably) is in Bronwynn's Family"

Kori coughs suddenly.

Raul asks (of Leona), "Which?"

[Crows-Nest] Wilfred exclaims (at Armande), "Ouch!"

Kori says, "Um, excuse me. Inhaled some wasabi."

Kori's blinking and her eyes are watering.

Leona (to Raul) smiles, flashing her teeth. "Getting along well."

Alexandra flags down a waiter and passes a glass of sparkling water to Kori

Raul says, "Heh. We'll see if it lasts."

Kori says (to Armande), "I got it nowhere particularly special, in fact. Um. I also didn't catch your name and Power."

Wilfred asks (of Franklin), "Well, Mr Merriman. How are you doing so far?"

Gaston says (to Bronwynn), "I believe he misinterpreted a remark of mine about the rain. For the record, I find the rain very beautiful -- though of course it is but a pale reflection of the oceans from which it comes."

Armande bows deeply, again. "Armande Sauvigne, Viscount of Cloth, at your service"

[Crows-Nest] Leona says, "yow, Gaston _is_ smooth"

Kori laughs embarrassedly.

[Crows-Nest] Gaston says, "Feh."

Bronwynn thaws yet more. "You flatter me, sir."

Kori says, "So have I sunk myself beneath reproach by not remembering where I buy my clothes? I've already irritated Bronwynn, it seems..."

Leona asks (of Raul), "And how is your chancel?"

Armande says, "now, you sit here and eat this excellent sushi and tell me about your quiet banker friend."

Wilfred absently scratches an ear.

Franklin says, "So far, this is like every other party I've ever been to. Not that I've been to many of them, hum, lately."

Jack is in the room, suddenly.

Kori says, "Oh. Hmm, Wilfred -- he's extremely fascinated with getting paperwork filled out. Which is fine, I suppose, considering someone has to."

Alexandra ignores that and silently continues sipping at her wine

Jack says, "my apologies, but I must bring this to an early halt"

[Crows-Nest] Lo says, "somehow the funniest lines focus around Wilfred"

Gaston says (to Bronwynn), "Merely your domain. Your person requires none."

Raul says (to Leona), "It's based around a library, and has a lot of paths"

Jack says, "Armande, Galer, if you could accompany me to the Heart -- you others, of course, will be welcome any time other than this one."

Gaston looks at Jack, annoyed.

Bronwynn looks horrified.

Bronwynn exclaims, "the nerve!"

Wilfred says (to Franklin), "I have a rather disturbing notion that I've made some sort of unwitting conquest."

Leona says (to Raul), "You must enjoy that. Excuse me, but I think we would be better off outside this chancel."

Armande makes a little moue of annoyance at Jack's entry, and waves to Wilfred as he leaves

Jack grins at Bronwynn. "Your ladyship will excuse me, of course."

Wilfred smiles awkwardly and waves back to Armande.

Raul asks, "What's happening?"

Bronwynn says, "I certainly will *not*."

Alexandra asks (of Armande), "Who is that?"

Franklin asks, "Who is this Jack fellow?"

Bronwynn says, "but if I am to be kicked out of here as if I were a common servant"

Leona says (to Raul), "I do not know, and I will not know until later, I suspect."

Gaston stands near Bronwynn and looks subtly supportive.

Lo seems to just blend in and disappear while everyone else is busy talking

Bronwynn huffily removes a card from a fold in her dress and tears it, vanishing with the slight scent of sea air

[Crows-Nest] Leona says, "I REALLY need to read the transcript later"

Franklin says, "Hmmm."

[Crows-Nest] Gaston says, "God yes."

GM says, "the other guests are also vanishing"

Franklin examines the torn card.

[Crows-Nest] Leona says, "so I can laugh at poor wilfred all over again"

Gaston shrugs, waits around for a bit.

Kori contemplates her card

Raul makes his way over to the others.

Raul asks, "Cards, everyone?"

Raul removes his card.

[Crows-Nest] Armande says, "mua ha ha"

Wilfred takes his card, shrugs, and tears into into a stream of billowing red tape.

Alexandra says, "Mmm. It seems to be the fashion"

Gaston says, "Indeed."

Raul tears his card, trying not to wince in anticipation.

Alexandra removes her card, shrugs, and tears it

Jack says, "my apologies for the sudden required departure"

Jack says, "er, although we haven't --"

Jack says, "ah"

Jack watches folks vanish.

Gaston tears his card, and vanishes in a scattering of reflected light.

Franklin says, "All this tearing of paper! Urgh!"

Leona watches Raul leave, smiles, and disappears behind a curtain around the outside of the room.

Kori tears his card.

Kori says, "er, her"

Gaston says (to Kori), "I thought you meant Franklin's."

[Crows-Nest] Leona says, "Area Kori in Gender Crisis"

Michel asks (of Kori), "aww. nothing's going right tonight, eh?"

GM says, "and as you tear the cards, you find yourself back in the chancel"

GM says, "[end]"

[Crows-Nest] Kori says, "I was momentarily distracted by reading the line above"

Michel says, "yay"

Gaston says, "Oh man."

Alexandra says, "Well then."

[Crows-Nest] Kori says, "etc"

[nobilis] DavidW says, "aw. Short party."

Raul says, "That kind of travelling's unnatural, I tell you."

Gaston says, "That was hilarious."

Michel says, "okay, that was excellent"

Wilfred tugs at his stiffly-starched collar.

Kori crawls off to her corner of the chancel and hides. With the rest of the platter of sushi.

Alexandra says (to Gaston), "good to know Gaston is picking up some 'allies'"

Penny looks up as people reappear in the chancel.

[nobilis] GM says, "there will be other parties, I assure you"

Alexandra says (to Kori), "aww and hee"

[Crows-Nest] Wilfred says (to Kori), "Yay"

Gaston says, "Man, Gaston is such a lecher. It's icky."

[nobilis] Lo says, "more EViL ones"

Gaston says (to Alexandra), "Cough."

[nobilis] Penny says (to GM), "I think it is funnier if some ofus, er, attend incognito"

[nobilis] Gaston asks, "Wait -- you mean the NPCs weren't all inky???"

GM has disconnected.
