Alison says, "We should go back and look at the other half-ball thing we got."
[nobilis] Davey says, "Aisleen could have gone with the ambulance"

[nobilis] Alison says (to GM), "I'm just trying to figure out where that puts Chaz, and hour new hemisphere, if the rest of us are still at the tunnel site."

[nobilis] GM says, "if you're still at the tunnel site, Chaz is with you guys and the hemisphere is back at your chancel"
Chaz says (to Alison), "Vona's group also found a half-ball, but it was black."
[nobilis] GM says, "if you go home and wait a couple days, Chaz goes off with the hemisphere to Octavo and then brings it back again"
[nobilis] Gerry says, "I'm back in chancel, since, you know, I'm lame."
Chaz says, "Also, I found some writing on the one in the tunnel."

Chaz tosses the hemisphere to Alison.
Alison looks at it.

[nobilis] Alison says, "It sounds like there are at least three so far."
GM says (to Gerry), ""Ah, good, someone's here," Henderson says."
[nobilis] Davey says, "right, is it of a size withthe one we found in Astara."
[nobilis] Davey asks, "which was also a thing full of liquid?"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "The one in the tunnel.  Yeah, there are three.  One from Astara, one from the tunnel (the ones we found) and one from France (black, that Vona's group found)"
[nobilis] Alison says, "That's what I was wondering. I wanted to compare them, and put them together."
Gerry asks (of Henderson), "Found something?"
GM says (to Gerry), ""Lady Aisleen said she should be notified as soon as our scryers noticed a bike being delivered, but I can't find here anywhere""
[nobilis] Chaz says (to Davey), "The one from Astara was a cup of liquid in mythic."
Alison goes back to the Chancel, at some point, and compares the Astara one to this one.
(From Chaz) Alison reads the writing.  It says, "If you can read this, you should be dead."
Gerry asks, "Oh drat.  Do we have someone waiting at the bar for it?"
[nobilis] Davey asks, "can I assume Chaz has filled us in on his adventures with Vonagroup?"
Chaz says (to Alison), "I think this one's just a decoy."
GM says, ""I don't believe so, sir -- but our scryers report the bikes just appeared in the lot in the middle of the night""
Alison asks (of Chaz), "What do you mean?"
[nobilis] GM says, "yeah, sure -- so we are now A Couple Days After The Explosion"
Chaz says (to Alison), "I think Drake or his double created the tunnel and put this hemisphere in it expressly so whoever went looking for it would get blown up."
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Any important exposition we should know, then? Aside from there being a black hemisphere in Paris?"
Alison asks (of Chaz), "That seems kinda silly. Why would anyone go looking for it?"
Gerry says (to Henderson), "Well, Ais is busy trying to get a tropical depression out of a depression.  I'll let her know they're here, but I'll go get them."
[nobilis] GM says, "well, Michel tried to stick the black one and the crystal one together and they repelled each other"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Lesse.  The *other* hemisphere from Astara won't fit against the black one from paris--it's like they're similarly-charged magnets."
[nobilis] Alison asks, "The new crystal one?"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "(timing!)"
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Or the old one?"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "The old crystal one."
Davey asks, "Chaz, you said something about that Buddha statue being drained of something...could that liquid thing that looks like a half-sphere in the real world be that same sort of essence?"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "The new fake one just went 'clunk'."
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Why are you calling it fake?"
GM says, ""That would be most kind, sir -- I would hate to see any harm come to them"
Chaz says, "It's possible."
Chaz says, "But that hemisphere's tale is somewhat different."
Davey says, "like, if we poured int on the statue, maybe it would, uh, reactivate"

[nobilis] GM says, "also, on closer inspection it appears to be glass rather than crystal"

Chaz says (to Alison), "Because there's a real one out there we have to find."
Alison looks at the new hemisphere in Mythic.
Gerry says (to Davey), "Aisleen and I ordered them, using Silver's card"

GM says, "It looks like an ordinary hemisphere."
Gerry says (to Davey), "The shop seemed pretty clean of him, but we wanted to get the bikes to find out more about them."

Alison chases Toes into the in between.
GM says, "Alison just reaches the edge of the chancel and --"

Chaz shrugs, steps out of the chancel, picking one on a whim.

Alison sends Toes with Chaz, but stays behind to investigate the old hemisphere again.

[interludes] GM says, "The two of you drive off onto the highway and into the sunset -- well, except it's mid-morning"
[interludes] GM says, "But back to the chancel"

GM says, "meanwhile, Alison looks at the other hemisphere"
[nobilis] Alison says, "All Roads Lead to Seattle."
Chaz goes invisible, skates out the exit, and heads directly to the U-dub.

Davey wipes the dust off Illuthica and takes the jacket off to look at it
Alison looks to see if anything's changed in its natural or mythic appearance, before trying to divine where its other half is.
[whiz-games] Whizzard says, "Damn I love Photoshop."
Davey exclaims, "oh, hey. Look, demon bike!"
GM says (to Alison), "it looks the same in natural and mythic, which is to say a crystal hemisphere and a cup of liquid"
Gerry rides into the chancel behind Davey, hair and mind blown.
GM says, "(er, same as before)"
[whiz-games] Whizzard says, "Nothing else could make my mad design ramblings look good."
Alison waves, "Hi Davey. Hi Gerry."
[nobilis] GM says, "(stuff piling up here -- lemme finish with Alison, then Davey, then Chaz)"

Gerry says, "And this is Mendat, who drinks . . . stuff."

GM says, "You can't locate its other half, curiously, although it clearly has one"
Alison says, "Hi Mendat."

GM says, "You can tell sort of what its other half should be -- something to drink up the liquid and somehow mingle with this"
Chaz . o O (to alison) ( According to the tale it told me, it sat on a pedestal for a long time and fell asleep before it was woken up by some chanting.  It used to be able to see its other half, but was no longer able to--a fact that seemed to foil the chanters, as well. )

Alison shakes it like a magic eight ball, and turns it over.

Alison looks into it, and tries to divine its original purpose.
GM says, "and the resulting form would be -- however it was split, it seems to have been done purposely to make it unclear what the combination would be like. but that in itself suggests the thing is powerful."
[whiz-games] Jearl says, "much like Blender. You can do great things with it if you're patient and psychic."
GM says, "But like the thing itself says, it has the sensation of the Center about it"
[whiz-games] Whizzard says, "My psychic powers are limited to making waiters get my orders wrong."
GM says, "and there is at the same time a powerful yearning to be back in place and a revulsion from the same place"
[nobilis] Gerry asks, "Hm.  Butting into the hemisphere thread, could I divine if it were a piece of a larger puzzle assembly in the same way?"
GM says, "and that itself seems, so far as it can be, to be its purpose"
Davey says, "aww. Poor sphere."
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Is that in the sense that it feels itself to contain the Center, or that it feels a link to some other thing which is 'Center'?"
GM says (to Gerry), "it clearly interlocks with something like a jigsaw puzzle, and then that in turn unlocks something else"
[Crows-Nest] Gerry asks, "How long ago did the GM write that bit?"
[nobilis] GM says (to Alison), "both, in fact -- it is the Center and its place is in the Center"

GM says (to Alison), "a very, very long time"
Alison frowns.
[nobilis] Alison asks, "So, much longer ago than the destruction of Astara?"
[nobilis] GM says, "yes"
[nobilis] Davey says, "whuh oh"
[nobilis] Davey asks, "what other chancels have been negged?"
Alison turns the cup over, peers up into it, and tries to tell see if there's any Astara inside of it.
[nobilis] Davey says, "I'd hate to be the one to put Ghin-aj back together"
[whiz-games] inky asks, "hrm, is there a win32 gimp port?"
[whiz-games] jwalrus says, "yes"
GM says (to Alison), "it doesn't look like it -- but it's not clear exactly what Astara would look like"
[nobilis] Gerry says, "Who knows, maybe Shaggy wants him back so he can kick his excrucian ass."
Alison finally tries tasting the liquid, if she can.
[nobilis] Davey asks, "you know, something about Jack...he's Shadows. Shadows of what? Can he be duplicating people?"
[nobilis] Gerry says, "I suppose I'd need to see the black hemi to tell for certain if it were part of the same puzzle."
GM says, "It doesn't exactly taste like anything -- this is somewhat confusing metaphorically since it's a crystal hemisphere at the same time: it tastes more or less like tingly clear water, but at the time it doesn't actually leave the cup or have its volume decrease"
Alison says (to Davey and Gerry, while pointing at the hemisphere), "This is bigger than Astara."
[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "neat"
Alison says, "An' it's probably bigger than us, too."
Gerry asks (of Alison), "You know this by mythically [not] tasting it?"
Alison says, "Whoever is beating up chancels likes to play with really big toys."
Alison says (to Gerry), "Nah, that part was just for fun. I just did divinivinationivities on it."
Davey shivers
Alison says, "I think that if we want to make this toy do stuff, we need to find something that drinks stuff but doesn't look like it drinks stuff."
Alison says, "But maybe it only looks like that in mythic, and is something else not anything like that in normal."
Alison says, "But I dunno if we want to make it do stuff or not, since it might do bad stuff, since it looks like prob'ly the bad guys wanted to make it do stuff too."
Davey asks, "so...a mythic towel?"
Alison asks, "Huh. Does the little piece of papers with the numbers look anything like a mythic towel?"
Davey says, "so the bad guys were trying to get these things together again, or keep them apart? I thought the second one."
Gerry says (to Alison), "If I recall correctly, it had no mythic dimension."
Gerry says, "Or, perhaps, it had no non-mythic dimension."
[nobilis] Davey says, "Actually, I kinda thought they were trying to remake the stolen hearts into a new heart for the Lost Chancel to it would get unlost."
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Yeah, that's my theory, too."
[nobilis] Alison asks, "So could this be part of the heart of the Lost Chancel?"
[nobilis] Alison says, "Maybe they were trying to mend it first, and then when that didn't work, decided to replace it."
[nobilis] Chaz says, "I think it's more likely a *pointer* to the heart of the lost chancel."
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Since their plans seem to be proceeding apace without it."
[nobilis] Alison says (to Chaz), "Hmm. Except that according to my divinations, it looks like it's carefully designed *not* to point to whatever it points to."
[nobilis] Alison says, "Unless I misunderstood."
[nobilis] Gerry says (to Allison), "That's its other half.  When the parts are whole, it's a whole new sphere of whacks."
[nobilis] Chaz says, "After the chanting, the hemisphere heard:  "GM says, ""It is hard to recall with sleep lifting off me -- but I remember chanting, and 'see, as I said!' and 'then where is the other?' and finally 'our agents will be told to locate it.'"""
[nobilis] Alison says (to Gerry), "Heh. Mmm."
[nobilis] Gerry asks, "Ours, or Vona's?"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Ours."
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Dunno if Vona's black one talks at all--it was completely sealed off from any paths in or out of it."
GM says, "meanwhile, Davey and Gerry are looking at their jackets"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Actually, you could head over there and see if it's part of the same puzzle."
[nobilis] Alison says, "Sounds worth trying, after you and Gerry and Davey get to do your bits."
GM says, "they seem to be made up of a number of different enchantments -- some for controlling the bike and some for controlling the wearer"
Gerry says, "Henderson!"
GM says, ""Yes, sir?""
Davey says, "controlling the wearer? feh."
Gerry says (to Henderson), "We've got a doozy for you and the boys in the back room."
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Henderson is going to put in for early retirement, even if it means the afterlife."
GM says, "(well, the effect on a nobilis is different than the effect on a mere mortal)"
[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "good ol' henderson"
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Speaking of ghosts, ever get anywhere with your pet one?"
GM says, ""Hmm, I can tell from here that they're magic," he says. "I'll have somebody take a look.""
Gerry says (to Henderson), "We need you to start analyzing the magicks on these babies, the jackets and the bikes."
GM says, "One of the mages comes up and, holding the jackets gingerly with a pair of forceps, carries them away"
Davey walks back to Illuthien without the jacket.
Davey asks, "we can still be friends, right?"
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Illuthien?"
Davey tries to ride around the fairgrounds
GM says, ""Let's see how tough you are without the jacket, big boy""
[nobilis] Davey says, "magic bike"
Gerry says (to Henderson), "Especially, important, we need to know if there's any evidence that the enchanters of the bikes and the jackets knew that either was going to be handled by nobilis."
Gerry says, "Because if they did, we may be in trouble again."
[nobilis] Davey says, "I am becoming way too fond of her already"
GM says (to Davey), "it's a wild ride right from the start -- she's doing her best to throw you off"
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Is Mendat the other bike?"
GM says (to Davey), "and if you keep on her she'll probably do it, too -- aspect 1 is keeping you on but not for much longer"
Davey just hangs on ans cackles
[nobilis] Chaz says (to Alison), "Nah, no time ;-)"
Gerry yells (to Davey), "I don't think you should be getting that close to anything that calls itself 'The Temptress'!
Davey waves dismissively and quickly resumes clinging
[nobilis] Gerry says (to Alison), "Yeah, Mendat the Drinker."
GM says (to Davey), "whoah, oof, one hand slips off the handlebar and then the other -- you're hanging on by sheer force of legs at this point"
Davey exclaims, "hot damn!"
[Crows-Nest] Franklin says, "no one's thews strap like davey's"
Davey starts adding a little Realm English to settle things back down
[Crows-Nest] Gerry asks, "Huh?"
[nobilis] GM asks (of Davey), "what are you going to do? a preserve realm miracle?"
[nobilis] Gerry says, "This is why you need Aspect 2."
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Or realm 4 so you can make one of these on your own ;-)"
[nobilis] Davey says, "hmm, I'm trying to make the path she's taking smoother and encouraging it to take me back in to the fairgrounds"
[Crows-Nest] Chaz says, "Strapping thews/thighs."
[nobilis] GM says, "oh, so a highway create? ok then"
[nobilis] Davey says, "yeah, close enough"
GM says, ""Hey! Dammit, no fair --" the bike ride smooths out some and you're able to regrab the handles as the bike curves back towards where you started from"
Davey tries to wrestle her to a stop approximately where we started
GM says, "Screeech -- and you stumble off, in a slightly undignified fashion"
Davey says, "just learnin' where we stand, darlin'. I'll let you beat me up later."
GM says, ""I'm lookin' forward to it""
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "I am so in love."
Alison looks faintly puzzled.
[Crows-Nest] Alison asks, "Are those things you ought to be saying in front of a nine year old?"
Gerry asks (of Mendat), "You just, uh, stay put, all right?"

Davey wanders off, grinning.

Alison looks at the half-orb, then at the bike
Alison shrugs and decides to give it a try.
GM says, "and Henderson and the other mages are busily inspecting the jackets"

Alison offers Mendat the cup of liquid.
Gerry asks (of Henderson), "Watch this for a minute, would you?"
GM says, ""Watch which?""

Alison opens the gas cap. "OK. But I don't have any gas."
GM says (to Alison), "ow, nuts"
Davey returns, pulling on a Michelob. "we can gas it up here."
GM says (to Alison), "there's a sharp bit right above the gas cap that digs into your finger"
Alison exclaims, "Ow!"
[Crows-Nest] Gerry asks, "Nuts?  Mendat the Drinker says 'Nuts'?"
Davey says, "hey."
Alison sucks her finger. "You be careful."
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "no, that was me"
Chaz says (to GM), "Well, first I'll head back to the room from yesterday.  English department basement."
GM says, ""Mmm .. driiink""
GM says (to Chaz), "right-o"
Davey quirks an eyebrow at Gerry. "I definitely like mine better."
Gerry rushes ALison away from this Little Harley-Davidson Shop of Horrors and into the scrying room to watch Chaz.
Chaz keeps all senses on alert for sound/sight/smell of Rike and/or Drake and/or laurel.
GM says, "heh"
GM says, "There definitely hasn't been laurel here recently; Rike and Drake probably haven't been here although it's a bit harder to tell for that"
Aisleen arrives, looking for booty.
GM says, "There's definitely no stone slabs like Rike mentioned"
[nobilis] Aisleen says, "sorry. blame the NYC marathon"
[Crows-Nest] Chaz asks, "'here'==English department basement, or UW in general?"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Er, here."
[nobilis] Gerry says, "Davey and I picked up your bikes."
[nobilis] GM says, "basement (you can't smell the whole campus at once)"
[nobilis] Chaz exclaims, "Yay Aisleen!"

[nobilis] Chaz asks (of GM), "What level miracle would it take for me to do that?"

Chaz flies around the buildings, asking each one if they have cold rooms inside, with marble tables.

[nobilis] GM says, "I think level 6 to smell the campus, level 7 to smell the city"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "And since I have to spend 4 points anwyay..."
[nobilis] Davey says, "I'll trade you the Shovelhead. Comes complete with a DMP and power over motorcycles"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "But I'll hold off for now."
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen still is waiting for some kind of a short recp. This smelling business is quite intriguing
GM says, ""In the basement, yes," says the medical center"

[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "well, we speculated about hemispheres, picked up magic demon bikes."
Chaz scootches his way into the basement.
[Crows-Nest] Alison says, "Chaz chatted with Vona's folk last week; looks like the new hemisphere is a fake, set up as a boobytrap."
[Crows-Nest] Gerry says, "Rike was contacted, but then disappeared, implicating Jack."
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen says, "ooh"
[Crows-Nest] Alison says, "Then we got in contact with Rike, who was in the dark on a stone slab."
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen asks, "Rike is alive?"
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "Rike briefly woke up, and Alison sent her cat after him"
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen asks, "i thought Jack was on our side?"
Chaz smells and listens again.
[Crows-Nest] Alison says, "We tried to find where he was, but lost contact just before we could. Jack may be involved, or a fake Jack."
GM asks (of Chaz), "invisibly?"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Yeah, still."
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen asks, "also, last question. where are you guys, and am i with you?"
[Crows-Nest] Chaz says, "Most folks are in the chancel, so yeah, you're there."
[Crows-Nest] Alison says (to Aisleen), "You're probably on your way back fromt he hospital."

[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "you went to the hospital with that guy. Most of us are in chancel now. Chaz is looking for Rike"

GM says, "The hallway has a number of doors leading off it. The one at the end, the most prominent, is labelled "Freezer Room""

GM says, "Still no relevant smells, though"
[Crows-Nest] Gerry says, "But everyone's in the chancel except Chaz, right now."

GM says (to Chaz), "it looks like everyone here is dead, which is not too surprising"
GM says (to Chaz), "and, as far as you can tell, non-mythic"
Chaz looks for any empty slabs.

Chaz breathes on them to see if the frost patterns indicate a recently moved body.
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen asks, "wit. did we get jackets too?"
GM says, "two have been empty for a while; one shows sign of relatively recent use"
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "black leather jackets, yes"
Chaz searches the recently-used one for any leftover bits of thread, etc.  Also, smell.
GM says, "there are some random bits of cloth, yeah"
Chaz asks, "Same as Rike was wearing?"
GM says, "I don't think so -- this seems to be blue jeans, and I believe he was in slacks"
GM says, "Meanwhile, the freezer door swings open again"
Chaz stops breathing.
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "(nice)"
[nobilis] Chaz says, "Man, I love that trick."

GM says, ""I believe 306 is up next -- white male, mid-thirties.""

GM says, "Three men walk in, two pulling a trolley and one with a clipboard"

Chaz looks who 306 might be.

GM says, "They lift one of the bodies off its slab and put it onto the trolley."
GM says (to Chaz), "White male, mid-thirties. Not somebody you recognize."
GM says, "Then they wheel the body out of the freezer and the door swings shut"
Chaz slips out to follow, just before the door closes.
[nobilis] Chaz says, "(Assuming I can make it)"
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen wonders about haunting the mages to find out about the jackets. I wanna wear em
GM says, "They wheel the body down the hall and into the freight elevator, and they (and you) go up two floors"
GM says, "and then down that hallway, turn, and then they open a door and head in to the room"
Chaz looks for the previous victim, to see if it's familiar and/or wearing blue jeans.
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "could be dangerous. We don't know if they're made for mortals or for us. You specifically."
[nobilis] Gerry says, "Or me specifically, although I didn't seem very taken with my own bike."
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen says, "just being impatient :)"

GM says, ""This specimen will be different from the previous one," the professor is saying, "in a number of important respects. The heart irregularities, the mottling on the arteries, and of course that this is a male rather than a female corpse""

GM says, "Meanwhile, back at the chancel"

GM says, "Henderson comes over with two mages coming behind him to carry the jackets"
GM says, ""We've completed a preliminary analysis," he says. "It appears that the jackets have a number of spells on them, layered in a fairly interesting manner.""
Davey asks, "interesting?"
GM says, ""It appears the design of the jackets is set up to encourage the wearer to engage in feats of daring and possibly even illegal activities -- a subtle craving for excitement is created which grows more and more intense the more the jacket is worn""
GM says, ""And the jacket supports the wearer in this -- making them slightly stronger, faster, more quick-witted, and so on""
GM says, ""But then, at some critical point in the future, the jacket's protections can be dropped""
Davey says, "huh."
GM says, ""Leading to utter disaster for the wearer, I expect, depending on what they were doing'"
Davey says, "then Mentat drinks. so it's all a nasty prank"

[nobilis] GM says (to Chaz), "unless, I guess, he's been killed and his features altered, but you aren't going to be able to work that out without a dna scan"

Davey says, "maybe knowing more about where they came from will help us track Silver's hideout down"

Aisleen asks, "Does this mean I can try them [bikes] out now? Or should we wait to see what we find out about the bikes' personalities?"
GM says, ""But of course," says Armande. "We are always at home for visitors. Where are you now? I could direct you to the most convenient entrance.""

Davey smiles
[interludes] Chaz catalogues a few of the more prominent scents for later identification, then ;-)

Alison asks (of Illuthien), "So where did you come from, way back way back?"
[interludes] Chaz steps out of the chariot and walks up to the portcullis.
[nobilis] Davey says, "see, this rules because I never have it in me to play the Wild code"
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen asks (of gerry), "is illuthien mine and the blood drinker yours?"
[nobilis] Davey says, "and now I have a new friend to bring it out."
[interludes] GM says, "It's open, with an attendant waiting at the bottom. "Ah, Lord Whimsey -- right this way.""
Davey says, "Aisleen, what did you order? These two seem way more special than the Billberries' bikes."
[interludes] GM says, "He leads you up."
GM says, ""Oh, yes, the other bikes -- these are definitely a different caliber than those""
[interludes] Chaz mutters something inaudible about strong poison.
GM says, ""Those were more or less normal construction but enchanted""
[interludes] GM says, "(hee hee)"
[interludes] Chaz follows.
Aisleen says (to davey), "the guy showed me the catalog, pointed to these and said they were 'basic' for new riders"
[interludes] GM says, "Armande is reclining on a couch by the fireplace"
Aisleen says, "but the newest models"
[interludes] GM says, ""Ah, so glad you could come -- do take a seat.""
Davey says, "hrr"
Chaz exclaims (at Armande), "Hi!"
[interludes] Chaz says, "Er, on channel."
Davey says, "these could not be less basic if they burned jet fuel"
[interludes] GM says, "He is, needless to say, dressed in the very latest fashions, only with more fabric."
[nobilis] Chaz says, "ILAC."
[interludes] Chaz sits.  "Very nice place you have here.  I'm quite impressed."
Aisleen says (to davey), "oh"
[interludes] Chaz says, "We don't quite have the same welcoming set-up you do."
Davey asks, "Could they have known who you were?"
Aisleen says (to davey), "We said Silver sent us, so I didn't mention the Bilberries"
Davey says, "mm."
[interludes] GM says, ""Ah, well, I like to have things .. nice around the place.""
Alison asks (of Illuthien), "Not talkin', huh?"
[interludes] Chaz grins.
[interludes] Chaz says, "You have succeeded.  Uh, in my limited experience, of course."
Davey says, "well, hmm. With the jackets they could have started gently enough, I suppose. But these two, they seem rare. So I'm suspicious."
[interludes] GM says, "He gestures vaguely to the luxurious paintings and wall-hangings, not to mention the gold and silver ornaments over the fireplace."
[interludes] Chaz stands and admires the paintings and tapestries.
[interludes] GM says, "Cecily comes in a few moments later. "Wine?" She's carrying a bottle and a few glasses."
GM says (to Aisleen), ""Ride me and find out," Illuthien says. "Just one ride and you won't want anything else.""
[interludes] Chaz says, "Uh... sure.  You know, I don't think I've ever had wine before."
Alison says, "'K."
Aisleen asks (of illuthien), "i am nervous because you are talking about tasks. how do i know your task is not to kill me?"
Alison hops on.
Aisleen says, "Alison, careful!"
Davey says, "um, hey now."
Aisleen says, "Or at least, wear the damn jacket"
[interludes] GM says, ""Oh, yes, I was forgetting," Cecily says. "Would you prefer some mineral water, perhaps?""
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen says, "also dammit. everyone rides my bikes before me"
Alison concentrates on preservation of safety in this part of the realm. Also, holds onto the handlebars tightly.
GM says, "Vroom vroom"
Davey . o O (to Alison) ( this is one beast I don't think you can sweet-talk, darlin. )
Davey covers his eyes
Aisleen pulls on the jacket and gets on Mentat
GM says, "Illuthien screeches off, Alison hanging on reeeal tight"
[interludes] Chaz says, "Nah, I think my new physique can handle it.  And hey, might as well start with the best."
Aisleen says (to mentat), "follow illuthien"
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "but but but I love her."
[interludes] GM says, ""That's the spirit -- always the best.""
Alison exclaims, "Whoooo!"
[interludes] Chaz says, "And those are the spirits!  Ha ha!  Ahem."
[interludes] GM says, "Cecily pours a glass for you and hands it over, and then one for herself and Armande"
Davey geets on the Shovelhead to follow.
[interludes] GM says, ""And this is before he's drunk anything," she murmurs."
[interludes] GM says, ""Now then," Armande says. "Do have a seat and tell us what's going on.""
GM says, "Aisleen tears off, and then Davey"
GM says, "this is also more or less the reverse order of skillful handling, too"
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen says, "we still have 30 days to decide how we are going to pay for these"
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "heh"
[interludes] Chaz stirs the wine in the glass, sniffs it as he's seen people do on TV.
[Crows-Nest] Alison says, "Sell tickets, for modernized pony rides."
Alison exclaims, "WoooOOOOoooohooo!"
GM says, "Davey's bike is going strong and he handles it like a pro; Aisleen is clamped firmly onto Mendat and more or less steering; Alison is hanging on to the handlebars by both hands and not really otherwise attached to the bike at all and it's driving wherever the hell it wants"
[Crows-Nest] Aisleen says, "i am sure we can convince Alexandra to make us some cash or something"
[interludes] Chaz says, "Well.  You know I don't like spreading rumors, but some strange things have been going on."
[interludes] GM says, ""A good year," Cecily says. "I brought it up from the Titanic.""
Aisleen asks (of mentat), "do you know where your buddy is going?"
[interludes] Chaz says, "(Hey, I get to use the 'must spread gossip' flaw ;-)"
[interludes] Chaz blinks.  "Wow."
[interludes] Chaz sips.
Davey grits his teeth, prepared to try his power on Illuthien if she tries to hurt Alison
GM says, "It's possibly Illuthien is trying -- she's weaving crazy side to side -- but Alison's doing her best preservation and more or less hanging on"
[interludes] Chaz says, "And I thought I should try to trace it back to the beginning.  And that starts with you."  He gestures at Cecily."
Gerry gets prepared to, um, make things very confusing for the bikes?
GM says (to Aisleen), ""She always runs when she can," Mendat says. "But then she comes back.""
[interludes] GM says, ""To me?" Cecily says."
Aisleen mutters something about dogs
Davey . o O (to Gerry) ( it's okay. I think. )
Alison shakes her hair out of her eyes, and tries to see where they're going.
[interludes] Chaz says, "We performed a task for Shagapir, which someone subverted in a way that killed your anchor.  Naturally, you got upset."
GM says, "The preservation doesn't help the people Illuthien is driving at, however, as they shriek and drive out of the way, and Illuthien continues to aim right at a circus tent"
[interludes] GM says, ""Yes, yes I did," she says. "Have you found out anything about that?""
Aisleen asks (of mentat), "cut the demon bike off, won't you?"
[interludes] Chaz asks, "Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's no secret that if someone wrongs you, you prefer to handle it in a duel?"
Davey says, "enough"
Davey curves the road away
[interludes] GM says, "Cecily blushes slightly. "It's true I have, ah, a bit of a reputation for being hot-tempered.""
Aisleen says (to mentat), "do it or i am going to cut you up nd sell your for scrap metal"
GM says (to Aisleen), ""Ooh, urge me faster""
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Hmm. Since I'm under the Holy Fire, can I shift my preservation from protecting me to protecting the people the bike's aiming at?"
GM says, "but Mendat does indeed speed up"
Franklin has disconnected.
Franklin walks back home.
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "I love this"
[nobilis] GM says, "yeah, but if you give up your preservation there's no guarantee you'll stay on the bike"
[interludes] Chaz says (to Cecily), "Well, I heard from Raul who heard from Gaston who heard from Bronwyn that she had querried the fish in the area, who said something..unseen had replaced the documents we put there with yet *other* documents."
GM says, "Illuthien screeches and swerves, trying to keep on her track as the road pulls away from underneath"
[nobilis] Alison says, "OK, then I'll let Davey's highway control take care of them."
[nobilis] Alison says, "He seems to be doing a good job."
Davey . o O ( okay, folks, they're not toys. They're weapons with minds of their own. )
[interludes] GM says, "Cecily's eyebrows fly up. "The nerve!""
Alison exclaims (at Illu), "Can you fly? Let's fly!"
Davey groans
[interludes] Chaz says, "Indeed."
GM says, ""Just watch me""
[Crows-Nest] Davey asks, "uh, how sturdy is Alison?"
Aisleen mutters something about tying Alison up when they catch her, for her own good
GM says, "Illuthien suddenly swerves back on the road, now heading straight for a ramp set up for some of the circus performers"
[interludes] Chaz says, "*I* think the point was to involve Drake.  You know we were attacked during the duel; had the attack succeeded, the chancel would have been cut off, and who knows what would have happened to whoever was stuck inside at the time.  Including you and Drake."
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "let's find out"
[interludes] Chaz says, "But since then, Drake's gone missing."
Davey . o O ( Aisleen, get ready to catch her, would you? )
Aisleen says (to mentat), "Follow that bike, dammit! And get me close enough so i can pull her off, or at least cut her off and force illuthien to stop"
Aisleen . o O (to davey) ( i am ready )
[interludes] GM says, ""So he really has, then? Jack was keeping mum about it -- I figured he would have said anything if it had been a real problem, since normally he loves to repeat gossip about Drake""
Alison exclaims (at Illu), "Up, up, and away!"
Davey . o O ( I want to let Alison get some respect for that thing before we put a stop to it )
[interludes] Chaz says, "Well, we obviously haven't been around long enough to tell what's normal 'round these parts."
[interludes] Chaz says, "But it sure seems that way to us."
Gerry says, "Too bad we don't have Tyoka here for this."
GM says, "*wham* Illuthien hits the ramp and shoots up into the air; Mendat is close behind, almost on the ramp himself"
Davey . o O ( but hell if she gets to break anyone's legs but mine )
[nobilis] Alison says (to Davey), "Odd; I was trying for just the converse."
[nobilis] Davey says, "I know you were"
GM says, "at the very top there's a jerk and Alison's hands slip free -- she starts falling down as the bike continues ahead in an arc, right at the ferris wheel"
Alison waits until they're at the peak of their arc, and performs a lesser creation of a parachute, attached to the handlebars.
[interludes] Chaz says, "Anyway, after *he* was attacked, someone attacked Olympus.  Using a tunnel that Drake had created."
GM says, "*thunk* the bike pulls up short, as Alison continues to fall down"
GM asks (of Aisleen), "are you going to take the ramp?"
Alison shifts into a cloud.
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "you know, I forgot she could do that cloud thing"
Aisleen says (to gm), "sure"
GM says, "Illuthien's engine revs angrily"
[interludes] Chaz says, "We followed the tunnel to a place we found a piece of laurel.  Which, as you may know, is Drake's symbol."
[nobilis] Aisleen says, "i have the jacket on, member"
[nobilis] GM says, "aha"
[interludes] Chaz says, "And this thread was on the laurel."
[interludes] Chaz pulls out the thread, hands it to Armande.
[Crows-Nest] Gerry asks, "A Member's Only jacket?"
GM says, "Aisleen takes the jump too, then -- shooting not quite as high as Alison did but still straight and smooth"
Alison, now that she's off the bike, preserves whatever the bike is going to fall on, instead of herself.
Davey goes to illuthien and sets her upright
[interludes] Chaz says, "I was hoping you could tell us something about who was wearing that."
[interludes] GM says, ""Oho, I see.""
Alison exclaims, "Aisleen! Watch out!"
GM says, "Illuthien is making angry noises from beneath the parachute"
GM says, "(as she falls onto open ground, thankfully)"
GM says (to Aisleen), "but now you're heading for the ferris wheel"
[interludes] GM says, "Armande reaches forward and gingerly takes the thread."
[interludes] GM says, ""Let me see, let me see.""
Davey asks, "who the hell pointed the ramp at the damn rides?"
[interludes] GM says, ""Nice fabris .. a clean weave .. vaguely familiar ..""
Davey says, "I'm gonna make some clowns sad."
[nobilis] GM says, "hee hee"
Davey gets the parachute off Illuthien.
Alison says (to Illu), "There. I did what you said; now it's your turn."
[interludes] Chaz sips the wine as he waits, analyzing the taste to within an inch of its life to figure out what it is that's so special about it.
Davey says, "You'll get what you want. You and me, we'll cut a swath."
[interludes] GM says, "Enh, it's just wine"
[nobilis] Aisleen asks, "Am I strong enough to fly off the motorcycle nd try to carry/lift/drag the motorcucle away from the ferris wheel?"
Alison says, "Now you have to tell me the answers to our questions."
Gerry exclaims, "Am I the only one who hasn't gone Bike Crazy!?!?"
[nobilis] GM says, "you could probably create some wind"
[interludes] GM says, ""Let's see -- I think this was a shirt, yeah""
Aisleen lets go off Mentat and flies above, alternately dragging and pulling at MEntat
[interludes] Chaz says, "(heh)"
Aisleen says (to wind), "(from the windmills) come help me, dammit"
[nobilis] Aisleen says, "Gerry and Stell are going to have to wash my mouth out with soap today"
[interludes] GM says, ""I get the sensation that it was used as a glove; perhaps somebody wrapped it around their hand to pick something up without leaving a mark on it"
[interludes] Chaz says, "Oho."
GM says, "The wind roars in, blowing the hair of the people on the ferris wheel and knocking Aisleen and Mendat sideways"
GM says, "and they tumble down"
GM says, "Aisleen, of course, lands smoothly"
Alison asks (of Illu), "So where *did* you come from?"
[interludes] Chaz asks, "I don't suppose you can tell who?  Or what?  Noble, Excrucian shard, giant..?"
[interludes] GM says, ""Hrm""
[interludes] GM says, ""This kind of fabric is characteristic of a human, but the shirt as a whole must have been fine -- I think it was either a very skilled mortal who selected it, or a nobilis. Or, possibly an Excrucian shard, but it seems less likely.""
[interludes] Chaz asks, "By selected you mean chose it as a shirt?"
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Is there an #interlude going on?"
Aisleen dusts herself off. "And what are your tasks?"
[nobilis] GM says, "yes, sorry"
[nobilis] Aisleen says, "yeh, for chaz i think"
[nobilis] Chaz nods.
GM says, ""The bike shop, natch.""
[nobilis] Alison says, "Ah, forgot he wasn't here."
[interludes] GM says, ""Exactly. Bought or created, selected to match the apparel -- I sense a certain subtle coordination that, sadly, most mortals just don't have""
Alison says (to Illu), "I mean way back when you first came from someplace."
Alison says, "Like, back before you were a horse and stuff."
[nobilis] Gerry says, "We're just padding out the story."
[interludes] Chaz nods.
GM says, ""You want me to go that far back, little girl? I am as old as the world""
[interludes] Chaz asks, "So, by contrast, whoever chose it as a glove would have been less finicky?"
Aisleen says (to illuthien), "we go ttime"
GM says, ""Temptation has always been around, and I am its servant""
Alison asks, "Which one?"
Aisleen says, "And Alison likes stories"
Alison asks (of Illu), "As old as earth? Or as old as the tree?"
[interludes] GM says, ""Well -- no, I suspect that was an unfortunate circumstance forcing them to misuse an otherwise fine piece of clothing, since I believe they were wearing it at the time""
GM says, "Illuthien grins. "Not as little as all that, then.""
[interludes] Chaz says, "Ah.  Hrm."
GM says, ""My kind of spirit, as perhaps you know, is only a thing of Earth -- we are bound to it and cannot go to the other worlds""

Alison nods and says, "Uh-huh," as if she did know.
GM says, ""This time I was summoned as I have been many times before.""
Aisleen . o O ( davey/gerry I ask, huh? )
[interludes] GM says, ""That seems likely. I'm not sure why that would be -- it seems to me to suggest Drake was not the one who dropped it.""
Davey . o O ( what? It's just like i thought. She's a sort of demon. Someone summoned her to be a bike. )
[interludes] Chaz says, "Right."
Alison asks, "Who summons you?"
Davey asks, "so were you called and given a task, or are you just being yourself?"
GM says, ""They said the prey this time would be wiser and deeper than ever before -- but I am fond of the hunt.""
[interludes] Chaz says, "But, I mean, are there reasons why you would carry your own symbol around?  I certainly don't."
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Are demons a kind of power, or are they more related to spirits of things, or would we need to research that stuff?"
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "I'm a little hazy on the details"
GM says, ""My task is always the same -- I raise men up and then destroy them; if I do my task well they destroy themselves""
Alison . o O (to Others) ( Wonder if we can trick her into thinking she's on our side, and the bads guys are prey. )
[nobilis] Davey says, "I'm a little hazy on the details"

[interludes] GM says, ""Well, Drake often wears a laurel wreath -- I don't carry my symbol around but it is stitched into my clothes""

Davey asks, "have you ever, ah, hoped you'd fail?"
Davey asks, "like, has there ever been a warrior who could help you do more damage if he lived?"

Aisleen . o O (to davey) ( so they did know who i was to give me these demon bikes? )

Alison asks, "Do the same people summon you every time?"
GM says, ""The worst of being a spirit is I must be summonable by any fool with sufficient power; although the ones who summoned me this time had more skill than the ordinary mage""
[interludes] Chaz sits back in his chair, sighs.
GM says, ""The best are the times when I slip free of the binding and then I can roam the earth on my own will, luring fools to their death until I am finally tracked down and banished""
Davey says, "you sound like 'Christine'"
[interludes] Chaz asks (of Armande), "I don't suppose you remember anyone who wears clothes of this type?"
Alison asks, "How can you slip free?"
Davey says, "a car who made men feel like gods before they got scraped."
[interludes] GM says, "Armande shrugs. "I am afraid this is common enough that it might be worn by any nobilis with taste.""
GM says, "If the binding is done improperly -- if a hair falls across the circle that I am kept in, or if there is a flaw in the item I am bound to"
GM says, "Illuthien says "I am wily, and if there is a flaw I will find it, and then I will be free""
Gerry . o O (to Henderson) ( We need to keep an eye on these guys. )
[interludes] Chaz asks, "Oh hey--can you divine the cut of the shirt, tell if it's for a man or woman?  Or general size?"
[interludes] GM says, ""Ah, a good idea -- a man's shirt, medium sized. Perhaps even a bit small. Too small for Drake, I think.""
Alison asks, "Object?"
[interludes] Chaz says, "Yeah, he had pretty broad shoulders."
Gerry says (to Alison), "I'm guess that's the bike."
[interludes] Chaz says, "Er, has."
Aisleen asks, "Didn't Chaz find stuff in the ritual room in the tunnel?"
Alison asks (of Gerry), "Would that mean the object was a horse before?"
GM says, ""Well -- part of the bike is my substance, and part is what I am bound to""
GM says, ""On a horse I am commonly bound to a bridle, or perhaps a ribbon for its mane -- and then as I am summoned I create and am the rest""
Alison . o O (to Henderson) ( If somebody summons a bad something, and binds it to a thing, and gives it a target to attack, can you make it go for a different target with magic if you have the object that it's bound up to? )
Davey . o O ( Alison, she's a thing made to seduce. The only way we could use her against our enemies would be to give her to them as a gift. )
Gerry . o O ( Well, regardless of the specifics, it sounds like Ais and I were made when we went to the shop. )
Alison asks, "What did they bind you to this time?"
GM says, ""Hmm," says Henderson, "It is possible -- that would be less energy than banishing it and resummoning, but it would be more likely to slip in the transition and set it free""

GM says, ""I am bound to my seat; Mendat to the gas tank""
Davey blushes
GM says, ""Couldn't you tell, big boy?""
Davey says, "aw, hell, I wish we could be friends."
Aisleen asks (of Davey), "you like these guys, don't you?"
Gerry says (to Davey), "You mean you were . . .  You know, I'm not finishing that question."
Davey says, "I do."
Alison asks, "So who summoned you up this time?"
[interludes] Chaz asks (of Cecily), "If I might ask--what happened to your anchor?  I know he was led into a trap, but where?"
Aisleen says (to Davey), "If we ever have to destroy these guys, I would hate to see how upset you get"
Davey says, "no reason to destroy them. And no, I won't let you."
Gerry says (to Davey), "No reason?  They're ancient demons summoned to bring us to ruin!"
Davey says, "set'em free of the bikes, maybe. Set 'em on someone else."
Alison says (to Gerry), "We need to teach them that it's not nice to do bad things."
Davey says, "we know what they are. They can't seduce us."
Alison asks (of Gerry), "If we don't teach them, who will?"
Gerry says (to Alison), "I think that Lo is the only person who could possibly manage that."
[interludes] GM says, ""In Sicily -- I wasn't following his progress exactly, and he didn't think to call me until almost the end""
Alison exclaims, "Hey, that's a good idea!"
Alison asks, "Should we call him?"
Davey says, "uhn. Some things natures can't be changed, kids. Now I'm getting another beer before I hear how you plan to tame these beasts."
Davey wanders off, lovesick and conflicted.
[interludes] Chaz asks, "And he was following some kind of map?"
[interludes] GM says, "Apparently he was given a note to meet somebody at a certain place who could give him information about his search -- the police found the car and it had been riddled with bullet holes"
[nobilis] Alison says, "It occurs to me that Mentat, at least, could be anchored..."
[nobilis] Alison says, "Dunno if it'd work on Illu or not."
[nobilis] Davey says, "whoa, you're right"
[interludes] GM says, ""I don't know exactly how the map fit in; I know he was following up on some notes on it to try and pin down landmarks it referred to""
[nobilis] Gerry asks, "'Cause he hates us?"
[nobilis] Davey says, "because he can drink"

[nobilis] Chaz says, "It's love on the part of Davey, but hate on the part of Mentat.  I think it's safe to say he'd be one of those types of anchors that tries to subvert their master."
Alison asks (of Illu), "So are you going to tell me who summoned you this time, or do we need to take your spark plugs?"
Gerry says (to A&A), "You two be careful, I'm going to see if I can raise Chaz in the pools."
[nobilis] Gerry says, "Except that I'm actually going to sleep."

[Crows-Nest] Alison imagines the sitcom. "He's an old-school biker. She's an ancient demon bound to the form of a motorcycle. Next, on 'I Love Luthy!'"
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "aiee"
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "yay"
[Crows-Nest] Davey says, "she will be mine. oh yes."
[nobilis] GM asks, "anything else quick for this week?"
[nobilis] Alison asks, "Is there time to say hi to Chaz?"
[peanut-gallery] Bishop asks, "Er, is he emphasizing specific words for some reason, or does he think that Z-* are words that are always capitalized, like INTERCAL?"

[interludes] Chaz gets a faraway look in his eye for a bit, then looks back at Armande, grins.  "My chancelmates want me to ask if you have any fashion tips for the fall season."
[interludes] GM says, ""An interesting question," Armande says. "Four words: gold threads, and spats.""
[interludes] Chaz says, "Oooh, perfect for skateboarding."
Chaz . o O (to aisleen) ( Armande says to be on the lookout for gold threads and spats for the fall season. )
GM says, "and on that note, see everyone next week"
[interludes] Chaz stands.  "Well, I think that's all.  Cecily, if you'll send us information on your anchor, I'll see if we can follow up on figuring out who actually killed him, though the trail might be a tad cold at this point."
Alison asks, "Next week?"
GM says, "(sorry, two weeks)"
Alison asks, "Is this one of those 'shh, don't tell Gerry' games, just for the Cool Kids who don't leave early?"
