Larry asks, "The ring, and the rod, and stuff?"
Dana asks (of Larry), "Yes?"

Larry says, "I think I might have seen them."
Dana asks, "Where? and how recently?"
[oneshot] Erich asks, "Larry's drawn Dan off to one side, yes?"
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "Albert"
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "oh, wait."
Larry says, "A couple day's ago, in the guard room."
[oneshot] Erich says, "a"
Dana asks (of Larry), "The guard room?"
Dana asks, "At the Ravens' hideout?"
Larry says, "Yes, the room where we keep the things that need to be guarded."
Dana asks, "Do you have any idea how they got there?"
Dana glances over at the others to see if they're following this
Jemmy has gone back to doodling.
Larry says, "I think most of the things in there are just the usual sort of stuff -- valuables, st-- taken from people on the road."
[oneshot] Erich asks, "So we *are* close enough to overhear?"
[oneshot] Dana says, "(I wasn't sure)"
[oneshot] Larry says, "Sure."
[oneshot] Larry says, "If you're listening."
[oneshot] Erich says, "You bet I'm listening."
Dana says (to Larry), "Interesting..."
Dana asks, "Did you see anybody out of place around?  Someone who didn't look like one of the bandits?"
Larry shakes his head. "No, we don't-- I mean, they don't let anyone else in there."
Dana asks, "And you never have reason to, say, take prisoners?"
Larry says, "Not that I know of. I only joined a couple months ago."
Dana asks, "Did you get close enough to get a good look at the items?"
Larry says, "Well, not a *really* good look."
Dana says, "but close enough to recognize them"
Dana asks, "How much of a watch is there on this room?"
PerrySimm arrives, looking for booty.
[oneshot] PerrySimm says, "(Don't worry, Ididn't actually miss anything...)"
Larry says (to Dana), "Two blackloaks, usually. They rotate."
Dana asks (of Larry), "What were you doing in there, then?"
Dana makes it a gentle, not an accusatory sort of question.
[oneshot] Jemmy asks, "dana can be gentle?"
Larry says, "Charlie was on guard duty, and I had to ask him about my shirt. I ripped it, and needed a new one."
Dana says (to Larry), "... ah."
Erich asks, "How deep in their hideout is this room?"
Dana says, "Obviously, this would be interesting to my coll-- er, well, they seem to be listening anyway"
Erich says (to Dana), "Your pardon -- I could not help but listen."
Larry says, "Pretty far. It's straight in from the entrance."
Dana says (to Larry), "So supposing we wished to retrieve them... we'd have a fair fight ahead of us"
Larry nods quickly. And then stops to think.
Larry says, "Well. I think so. I wouldn't want to do it...""
Larry says, "But then, you did beat up Charlie and us."
Dana asks, "Are there any, say, back passages?"
Dana asks, "Ways in that they don't guard as well?"
Jemmy exclaims, "I bet we could sneak in under cover of darkness!"
Erich asks, "or cover between the entrance and this room?"
Larry says, "Not that I know about."
Lydia says, "From the sound of the artifacts, it might be easier to get out than in, of course."
Dana says (to Lydia), "Bearing in mind, on the other hand, that until we secure them the advantage is theirs"
Larry says (to Erich), "Well. There are side rooms. I dunno if there'll be more people in the side rooms or in the main passages or not."
Erich says, "If there is something other than a blank hallway, some of us might be able to enter quietly."
Dana asks (of Larry), "Are there ever times when most of the bandits are gone at once?"
Lydia says, "We'll be outnumbered, but I doubt they know how to use the artifacts."
Larry says (to Dana), "During the day, they usually are, but... they'll probably make sure there's someone near the entrance, if Charlie and the rest got back."
Jemmy says, "hmm"
Erich asks (of Larry), "Is there a set schedule for changing the guards?"
Larry shrugs. "I'm not sure. That's blackcloak business."
Dana asks, "How hard would it be to disguise oneself as a blackcloak?"
Dana asks, "Do they all know each other, or is the group large?"
Erich nods at the good question.
Larry says (to Dana), "Um..."
Larry thinks. "I think I know most of the blackcloaks..."
Larry says, "So... I guess they're probably going to know each other, mostly..."
Dana says (to Larry), "Hmm"
Larry says, "You'd have to be pretty good to keep the other blackcloaks from noticing, but I guess you might trick the regular guys like me."
Dana nods
Erich says, "We might get more detailed information from one of these blackcloaks."
Dana says, "I am quite curious about the leader -- the one they call the bluecloak -- myself"
Dana says, "Though I have my own suspicions about who it is, of course."
Larry asks, "You mean Bluecoat?"
Dana says (to Larry), "Just so"
Dana says, "And it's not enough to break in, get the artifacts, and get out -- we also have to find the prisoner"
Erich says (to Dana), "Though bringing back Bluecoat would be interesting."
Dana says, "If it is who I think it is, he doesn't hang about the caves much."
Erich says (to Dana), "Yes, but a man can dream."
Dana grins
Dana says, "So the question is -- where do we go for more information? It seems as though we need more before we launch a direct assault, especially since they know they have enemies..."
Erich asks (of Larry), "Guards at the entrance, yes?"
Larry says (to Erich), "Probably. I mean, we didn't have 'em before, but..."
Larry shrugs. "When they hear about what you guys did, chasing now our group, they'll probably want to be careful."
Erich says, "It might be worth hiding near the entrance and waiting."
Jemmy exclaims, "then we can jump out at them!"
Dana says (to Jemmy), "Thank you for the trenchant insight."
Jemmy asks, "a catapult? we don't have a catapult, do we?"
Erich says (to Jemmy), "She means 'with a club.'"
Jemmy says, "aha"
Dana asks (of Erich), "So you're thinking, grab a couple of guards, threaten and question, and perhaps steal their clothes-- well, cloaks, at least?"
Erich nods.
Dana says, "Works for me"
Jemmy asks, "great! when do we start?"
Lydia asks, "Why not now?"
Dana says (to Jemmy), "as soon as you're done with your artwork, I imagine"
Jemmy says, "oh, well, I can add more sheep any time"
Erich rumbles, "There are always more sheep."
Dana glances over to see the sheep, apparently feeling bad about picking on the innocent a moment ago.
Jemmy says, "I have another six dozen to draw in, and I don't have names for all of them"
Dana says (to Jemmy), "Perhaps some will come to you while we're hiding in the bushes."
Erich says (to Jemmy), "If we capture some of these blackcloaks, you can find out their names and use them."
Dana says, "But we'd best get going, I suppose -- it's some distance out there."
Jemmy exclaims, "before we jump out at them, you mean? good idea!"
Jemmy looks at Larry. "What about *him*?" he whispers loudly.
Larry politely looks the toher way.
Dana looks Larry over thoughtfully
Dana says, "We could bring him as a native guide"
Lydia says, "We did say we'd protect him."
Dana says, "Leaving him behind seems cruel, unless we find someone to look after him"
Jemmy exclaims, "I'm sure Miss Violet would look after him!"
Dana chokes
Dana says (to Jemmy), "I'm not sure we can afford that sort of looking after"
Larry blushes slightly.
Erich says, "An interesting idea, but an expensive one."
Dana says, "We could request that the police look after him"
Dana says, "But I'm more inclined to bring him along"
Larry involuntarily meeps.
Jemmy thinks. "But what if his friends aren't happy to see him back?"
Dana says (to Jemmy), "we'll leave him tied to a tree outside"
Dana says, "I suppose my concern is that we may not find the caves without him"
Larry says, "I-I-I-I do-don't m-m-mind being l-l-left h-h-h-here-ere..."
Dana says, "And once we do, it would be nice to have advice"
Erich says, "Hm."
Dana says, "of course, it would not be nice to have a companion who wets his trousers"
Erich says, "I could look after him on our way there."
Erich grins happily at Larry.
Dana says (to Erich), "Not THAT sort of looking after either"
Dana says, "I gave my word."
Dana crosses her arms and looks at Larry.
Erich looks hurt. "I would protect him very well."
Dana asks, "Well?  You don't want to come along, then?"
Larry says, "N-No, please."
Dana says, "I suppose the alternative is to frogmarch him to the sheriff and have him put in protective custody"
Lydia says, "I imagine we'll find it."
Larry says, "They said they'd... they'd... do awful things to me, if I ever, if I ever told..."
Dana looks exasperated
Jemmy exclaims (at Larry), "you'll like Jase (happily) he has muffins!"
Dana says (to Larry), "Very well"
Lydia asks (of Dana), "You think he'd go somewhere? Or that any of those cowards would come for him so soon?"
Dana says, "of course, we could leave Jemmy behind to watch him, instead"
Larry asks (of Larry), "Jase?"
Larry asks (of Jemmy), "Jase?"
Morgan arrives, looking for booty.
Dana says (to Lydia), "More that I don't want him meeting anyone by accident on the street and giving the game away"
Jemmy says, "he works at the sheriff's office."

Dana says, "but yes, there's some danger to him too, I suppose"
[7thsea] Morgan exclaims, "no one reminded me!"
Jemmy exclaims (at Dana), "hey, you can't leave me behind!"

[7thsea] Dana says, "someone tried to call you but it didn't work"
[7thsea] Erich says, "And then I thought at you very very hard."

Lydia says, "Still, he's probably better off with the police, just in case."
Dana mutters, "Damn."
[7thsea] Morgan says, "walked in the door 10 minutes ago"
[oneshot] Lydia says, "We haven't done anything yet."
Dana says, "okay, let's go"
Larry asks, "Police?"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "whew"

Dana says, "Police, then caves, sans you"
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "I drew some more sheep"

Larry asks, "I... I guess they... they wouldn't do anything *bad*, right?"
[oneshot] Lydia says, "except learn that the artifacts are in a guarded room at the hideout."
Erich says (to Larry), "They will take good care of you."
Lydia says, "Certainly not."
Morgan wakes up from a prodigous slumber.
Dana checks her knife and then heads out, whistling.
Erich says, "They don't seem to be the bone-breaking kind."
Larry nods catiously.
Erich says, "More the small slivers of metal kind."
Erich says, "Off we go."
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "snrk"
Larry follows whoever looks safest to be near.
Lydia says (to Larry), "If you could just tell us as well as you can how to find the room you mentioned, then."
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "or he *claims* they are"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "mmhmm"
[oneshot] Dana says, "see, it would've been so nice to drag him along and slit his throat if he proved treacherous"
Larry says (to Lydia), "Well, I told you about finding the cave... the room, you just go straight in... all the way."
[oneshot] Morgan asks (of dana), "you're off to caves?"
[oneshot] Dana says (to Morgan), "Right"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "too bad i was alseep.  that's right up my alley. :("
[oneshot] Erich says (to Dana), "We can always take him off the local gendarmes' hands if necessary."
[oneshot] Dana says, "true"
[oneshot] Larry says (to Morgan), "They haven't been to the caves yet."
Dana asks, "so, we're at the police station?"
[oneshot] Larry says (to Morgan), "Presumably, you're with them, now that they've finished interviewing their little prisoner."
Dana says, "(ilac)"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "wait"
Darnell asks, "Yeah?"
[oneshot] Morgan asks, "everyone's going?  or just dana, as seemed 9somehow, to my addled brane) to be implied?"
Dana says (to Darnell), "Ah.  I, er, would like to introduce you to an acquaintance"
Dana pulls Larry forward
Jemmy exclaims (at Darnell), "hi!"
Erich says, "We have a new guest for you."
Dana says, "He seems to be in some trouble, and could use a little -- guardianship."
[oneshot] Morgan asks, "and darnell is the sherrif?"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "I'm hopelessly behind"
Darnell raises an eyebrow. "OK. What's your name?"
[oneshot] Darnell says, "The Sar-- er, yes."
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "is the sergent"
[oneshot] Morgan shuts up and listens
Larry says, "L-Larry."
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "er. sergeant. there we go"
[oneshot] Erich says, "Heh, heh, heh."
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "with his assistant jase, who apparently isn't here"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "aww, no muffins"
Darnell asks, "What's this Lellarry need 'guardianship' for, then?"
Dana says (to Darnell), "(in a whisper) don't mind him, he's always like that"
Dana says (to Darnell), "Something of an entanglement with the Ravens. They might reasonably bear him a grudge."
Darnell nods. "I see."
Darnell asks, "He was held up, was he?"
Dana says, "So I'd take it as a personal favor if you could look after him for a bit."
Dana says (to Darnell), "It is, er, a long story.  Suffice it to say that he escaped from their... company... and brought useful information."
Darnell shrugs. "Heck, sure."
Darnell says (to Larry), "Pull up a chair; have a cup of coffee.""
Erich says, "We are going to have a little chat with the Ravens. He might not do well in that encounter."
Larry sits quietly.
Darnell says (to Erich), "Heh, good luck. You'll need it."
Darnell looks Erich up and down again. "Or maybe you won't."
Darnell chuckles to himself.
Erich smiles.
Jemmy exclaims (at Darnell), "don't worry, I'll be along to help him out!"
Darnell maintains a straight face.
Dana waves cheerily to Darnell and goes out.
Dana seems to be in bright spirits.
Darnell waves, "Let me know if you get any of 'em."
Jemmy exclaims (at Darnell), "you bet!"
Erich says, "If so, we'll bring you back one as a gift."
Jemmy follows Dana out.
Erich leaves as well.
Jemmy asks, "so are we going to approach under cover of darkness?"
Lydia says, "I think there will be more bandits there if it's dark."
Dana asks (of Jemmy), "Do you see any darkness here?"
GM says, "It's now about five or so o'clock; it'll start to get dark in about an hour."
Erich says, "By the time we get there and are ready to arrange ourselves, it will probably be much darker."
Jemmy says (to Lydia), "hmm, that's true"
Dana squints at the sky resentfully
[oneshot] GM says, "Unless someone triggers the Really Big Ball Of Magical Night Flame artifact, that is."
[oneshot] Dana says, "hee"
[oneshot] GM says, "No, wait. That's the moon. Sorry."
[oneshot] Erich says, "So off we go."
[oneshot] Lydia says, "hike hike hike"
GM says, "Assuming you're taking the direct route, you head south along Walnut street, past a side track, past Mordigan's lane, and past a bit of farmland before you find the south gate."
GM says, "From there, the road fades quickly into rough forest trails, and then fades into nothingness. After about an hour, the twilight sets in, but you can just see the five hills Larry mentioned to the south."
Jemmy skips along.
GM says, "By the time you reach the hills, it's genuinely getting dark. You turn east, according to his directions, and pick your way through the woods in darkness."
[oneshot] GM asks, "Are you sneaking the whole way, or just walking right up, or some of each, or what?"
Erich says, "Let me scout ahead a bit."
[oneshot] Dana says, "sneaking"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "sneak sneak sneak"
[oneshot] Dana says, "Jemmy is skipping sneakily"
Morgan says (to Erich), "I thought I might do a bit of that meself"
Dana says, "only so many people can scout ahead without it ceasing to be ahead"
Erich says (to Dana), "Good of you to volunteer to stay back here, then."
Erich moves on ahead quietly.
Morgan waits, and fumes.
[oneshot] Morgan says, "well, moderately"
[oneshot] GM says, "Stealth, TN 10."

GM says, "Erich sneaks back out of the woods."
Erich says, "Found the hill Larry mentioned."
Erich says, "There are several people with sharp, glinty things nearby it."
Morgan says, "ahh, good"
Morgan asks (of erich), "should we go around, or through?"
Erich says, "Mmm."
Erich says, "If we could lure one or two away from the rest, we could get our information."
Morgan says, "nice plan"
Morgan asks, "I'll be bait, you catch?"
Erich asks, "That would work. Anyone else care to play?"
Jemmy thinks. "You're fishing?"
Morgan says (to Jemmy), "right, but it's a big fish.  you should stay here and keep watch for it"
Lydia says, "I'd love to, but I'm not very experienced at sneaking around quietly."
Erich glances at Dana.
Jemmy says, "uh .. alrighty."
Dana says, "I'm always game for a fight."
Jemmy glances around alertly into the darkness.
Morgan asks (of dana), "I'm sure you're quite the sneakstress.  care to give ol' erich a hand?"
Dana says (to Morgan), "sure"
Erich says (to Lydia and Jemmy), "You two stay here. Any escape past us, you stop."
Dana says (to Morgan), "And don't try sweet-talking me"
Lydia nods.
Morgan says (to Dana), "wouldn't dream of it"
Dana nods firmly
Morgan puts up his arms and backs away into the trees
Morgan waits for erich to lead the way
Dana goes along with Erich

Erich heads back the way he went originally. *Quietly*.

Lydia waits, listening, with a faint smile.
GM says, "A big rocky hill, and something that might be people, with something glinty, near the hill."
GM says, "(Also, you've moved a ways from Jemmy and Lydia to get here)"
Morgan drops his staff, adjusts his hat, and otherwise gets ready
[oneshot] GM asks, "You're all travelling together right now, yes?"
[oneshot] Dana says, "right"
Morgan stage-whispers, "erady?"
Jemmy asks (of Lydia), "this is pretty exciting, huh?"
[oneshot] Erich says, "Yeah. I figured Dana & I would spread out to either side, and let Morgan lead one or two of 'em past us."
Dana whispers "as I'll ever be"
Jemmy is whispering, of course.
Erich whispers, "Yes."
[oneshot] Morgan says, "works"
[oneshot] GM asks, "Sandwich play?"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "I'm doing the Drunk idiot Routine"
[oneshot] Dana says, "right"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "always good for a laugh"

Morgan sneaks up a bit closer to the guards, then proceeds to fall down, loudly.
Morgan exclaims, "hic!"
Lydia says (to Jemmy), "Yes. I'm a bit nervous, actually."
Dana thinks he plays this part from considerable experience.
Erich moves aside a bit and behind a convenient tree.
Morgan says, "oh, man, what'd I do to meself this time?  the missuis'll kill me."
Dana moves to a position opposite Erich and stands very still.
GM says, "The man-shaped shapes move around a bit, possibly conferring."
Morgan staggers to his feet and heads towards the hill, stomping on every branch he finds
[oneshot] Jemmy says (to Erich), "just pick up some fallen branches and you could *be* a convenient tree"
[oneshot] Erich says, "'Just a hedge. Nothing to see. Move along.'"
[oneshot] Dana says (to Jemmy), "That's only 'cause you haven't learned to draw 'em very well yet.  But don't lose heart."
Morgan leans against a sapling for support, skaing it horribly
[oneshot] Morgan waits for it.
[oneshot] Erich asks, "What, we waiting for the kick horns?"
[oneshot] Dana says, "yay ska"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "hee hee"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "I suck"
[oneshot] Dana says (to Morgan), "Nah, you're just typing like a drunk, too"

Erich tries to catch Dana's attention, then motions towards the people moving towards Morgan.
Dana watches, nods
Morgan tries to see what's happening on the hill.
GM says (to Morgan), "Before you even realize it, three men have surrounded you."
[oneshot] Morgan says, "nice"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "they suck"
Man asks (of Morgan), "WHat are you doing so far out into the woods, here?"
Morgan exclaims, "hel-lo! hic!"
[oneshot] Lydia says, "So this is where you scream 'Aiie! Ghosts!' and run for it."
[oneshot] Dana says (to Morgan), "You were supposed to send them over here"
Morgan asks, "you wouldna happen to have a bottle, would ye friends?"
[oneshot] Morgan says (to lydia), "that was the plan til they surrounded me"
Dana tugs impatiently at the hilt of her knife
Morgan weaves a bit, rtying to move out from between them and towards Dana and Erich
SecondMan says (to Morgan), "I think they've got a bottle over at the Inn, in that village up there..."
Morgan asks, "ah, thanks.  care to join me for some?"
Morgan starts moving towards dana and Erich, still staggering a bit
ThirdMan gently takes Morgan's arm, and tries to lead him generally NNW (towards Dana, sorta, but away from Erich. Towards the village)
Morgan says, "I think i came from here, so this is where I should go..."
ThirdMan says (to Morgan), "Right, right... These woods can get pretty *rough* if you're not careful, so I suggest oyu just go back home..."
Morgan says, "wife'll kill me"
Morgan pulls his arm away, and seriously heads towards his friends
Man says, "Yes, there are a lot of things out here that could do that."
Man tries to catch SecondMan's eye.
SecondMan is already chasing Morgan. "Hey! Come back here!"
Morgan breaks and runs, but not very fast
Erich moves, preparing to sap one of them on the back of the head.
Morgan runs faster
GM follows.
Dana steps forward
GM says, "Er, I mean, the three follow, bringing them right towards Dana and Erich."
[oneshot] Morgan says, "yay"
Dana waits till the nearest one is more or less in range, then jumps on him
Erich picks a second one and whaps him across the back of his head.
ThirdMan says, "Gah!" as he falls under Dana.
Morgan suddenly turns and punches the third one.
ThirdMan says, !" as he's knock unconscious.
[oneshot] ThirdMan says, "Er, Second"
Man shouts, "Intruders!" as Morgan's fist flips him on his back.
Dana uses the advantage of surprise to get her knife to the ThirdMan's throat
Morgan says, "damn"
Erich places one large hand around the third man's neck. "Quiet," he hisses, "or give up breathing."
GM says, "You hear footsteps in the forest as the rest of the group charge in."
Dana says (to Morgan), "My feeling exactly"
Morgan knocks his man out, quick.
Morgan says, "Let's grab one and move back"
[oneshot] GM says, "Initiative for you three. A blackcloak with three brutes."
[oneshot] Erich asks, "Any chance we can drag a few away before being seen?"
Jemmy looks around alertly.
Morgan says, "we don't need more"
[oneshot] GM says, "Unless you're running."
Jemmy asks, "did you hear something?"

GM asks, "You pass by the group of hills. Are you still going straight?"
Erich says (to the others), "Fire pistols behind us. Slow down pursuit."
Jemmy looks back to see how many there are. "But I don't *have* any pistols!"
Dana asks, "I suppose there's no point trying to double around and return to the now-unprotected caves?"
GM says (to Jemmy), "Looks like about four of them."
Jemmy asks, "oh, is that all?"
Jemmy turns and charges at them.
Morgan says, "shit"
Dana smirks but draws her knife
GM says, "Not expecting this sudden change in battle formation, the four are taken by surprise."
Lydia looks to see what Jemmy is doing, then turns once more and races past Morgan and Erich.
Jemmy exclaims, "yaaaaah!"
Erich exclaims, "Theu in himmel!"
[oneshot] GM says (to Jemmy), "One free action."
Morgan says (to Erich), "let's go help him"
Erich rips the man from Morgan's grasp and throws him at Jemmy's enemies.
Morgan drops his end of Manny and limps back towards the fight
Jemmy draws his bullwhip as he runs, and smacks it at the nearest with a loud crack.

Dana checks the blackcloak to see whether he's conscious
Jemmy says, "I will read them later when we're done"
GM says, "Now that you're able to stop and rest, you notice that Manny is average height, and seems to be of dark complection."
Jemmy puts them away carefully.
GM says, "He has black hair and a moustache, and is (of course) wearing a black cloak. He's also unconscious."
Erich slaps Manny gently. "Wake, my friend."
Lydia asks (of Morgan), "May I have a word with you?"

Lydia stage-whispers to Morgan, aside, "I have certain powers, that could help us follow this man to Bluecloak. But I'd need some excuses."
Morgan says (to lydia), "I've heard of such, but never seen them in action"
Morgan asks, "How can i be of help?"

Dana decides to wait until Morgan and Lydia are through to wake him

Morgan crouches down next to manny
Morgan says, "I've got some bad news for ye"
Morgan says, "we're a fairly determined bunch"
Erich asks, "This has barely started and already I tire of him. Are you sure I cannot use him for practicing my pugilism?"

Dana rests a hand on the hilt of her knife.
Jemmy exclaims, "hi!"
Dana says (to Erich), "Just don't damage his teeth"

Dana gets out her knife and holds the point near Manny's throat.  "Let's try a new one, double or nothing. Where did you get those objects in your guard room?"
Dana says, "And make the answer good, or we'll get a new source and you'll get a permanent home."
Dana says, "Underground."
Manny swallows very, very carefully.
Manny says, "That... depends which objects you mean."
Dana nods
Dana says, "Suppose I meant a certain rod... and a ring... somewhat unusual..."
Erich mutters something about these new-fangled men who are more scared of women than big hulking brutes.
[Crows-Nest] Lydia says (to Erich), "But there won't be geeks in Theah for some time."
Manny says, "Ah. Those were appropriated from a certain kindly older gentleman who no longer had any need for them."
[Crows-Nest] Erich asks, "Pirates and Geeks?"
Dana asks (of Manny), "Ah, interesting.  And where is the older gentleman now?"
[Crows-Nest] Manny asks, "They bite the heads off of guilders?"
Manny weighs his answers carefully. "I can honestly say, I don't actually know for certain, right now."
[Crows-Nest] Manny says, "Guilders, chickens, same thing."
Dana asks (of Manny), "Where did you see him last?"
[oneshot] Manny says (to Dana), "Resolve again, if you want to keep the Intimidation up."

Manny says, "Fine. To the Bluecoat."
Manny asks, "Happy now?"
Dana says (to Manny), "Not entirely."
Dana asks, "Do you know who the Bluecoat is?"
Manny says, "Maybe. Maybe not."
Dana allows the knife to pierce Manny just a little.
Lydia gets up.
Dana says, "Don't equivocate, my friend."
Lydia says, "I don't want to see this."
Lydia walks further away.
Manny asks, "I   a   a  e    a  ?"
Dana says (to Manny), "She has a weak stomach, I fear."
Erich walks to Lydia. "This is one of the unfortunate parts of jobs like this."
Manny breaths very carefully.
Dana says (to Manny), "Tell me exactly what you do know."
Lydia whispers to Erich, "Just trying to scare him. Well, mostly."
Manny appears to be having diffulties speaking, with a dagger preventing his throat from moving.
Dana eases only the tiniest bit.
Manny asks, "How sharp is that knife?"
Erich murmurs to Lydia, "Ah. Were she not doing so well, I'd suggest you plead with Dana not to kill this one like the last."
Dana asks (of Manny), "what, you need it redemonstrated?"
Dana says, "I thought you were smarter than that."
Lydia says, "That's still an option."
Manny says, "It's just that I'd hate to be killed with a dull blade."
Dana cocks her head.
Dana says (to Manny), "no worries"
Dana says, "I'm curious what hold this man has on you that you'd rather die than speak, however."
Lydia tries to work up some tears.
Manny says, "Let us just say that very few men have observed the Bluecoat at work."
Manny says, "At least, not for more than a few weeks."
Dana asks (of Manny), "Is that an admission of ignorance?"
Dana says, "or just more waffling?'"
Manny smiles, "Because even the strongest will die after twelve or thriteen days of what he can do."
Dana says, "I see."
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "mm, waffles"
Dana asks, "And you think that you'd fall into his clutches if you survive tonight?"
Manny says, "He likes to start slow, you see... the first two or three days, you might even think he's being nice."
Manny says (to Dana), "Hard to say, really. But the way I see it, better safe than sorry."
Dana pulls back the knife.
Dana says, "Then I say we put it about that you betrayed him and leave it at that."
Dana says, "Spares me a lot of trouble, frankly."
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "(nice)"
Manny says, "If you wish."
Erich says, "Right. And, uh, do not double-cross us or, ah...uh...I'll let *her* deal with you."
Manny asks (of Dana), "Should I be off, then?"
Dana says (to Manny), "Not just yet."
Dana hauls off and hits Manny hard enough to knock him out again.
[oneshot] Dana says, "(success, or do I have to roll that?)"
Manny appears surprised for a split second, and then doesn't look anything.
[oneshot] Manny says, "Nah, he's prone, and he's still fully wounded."
[oneshot] Erich exclaims (at Dana), "You knocked his face off!"
Dana says (to Others), "Recalcitrant bastard."
Dana cleans the knife fastidiously.  "I hate having to use this on an unarmed man."
Dana asks, "Anyway, there's a lot left I'd like to know, but he seems an inefficient source... any suggestions?"
Morgan says, "Ye were doing an excellent job"
Dana says, "Maybe, but that doesn't leave us with the proof I'd like"
Dana says, "And I don't have the stomach to go much beyond threats, to be honest... if one of you wants to, I'll leave it to you"
[oneshot] Manny says, "Hmm. Interestingly, it also doesn't leave you with Manny's name..."
[oneshot] Dana says, "well, Lydia didn't tell ME she wanted it"
[oneshot] Erich says (to Dana), "Not for her, for Jemmy."
[oneshot] Dana says, "oh yes"
[oneshot] Dana says, "I'll make a list of names for him to make up for it"
Erich says, "Well."
[oneshot] Lydia says, "yeah, names don't help me."
[oneshot] (from Manny) Dana says, "Like Erich, and Lydia, and Morgan."
Erich says, "There are fewer people guarding the cave than before."
Dana says, "Alternatively we could let him wake up in the woods and follow him, but I imagine he'll just return to the cave"
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "hee hee"
[oneshot] (from Manny) Dana says, "Don't you dare try naming one fo those sheep 'Dana'."
Jemmy asks, "are we going to go back?"
Dana says, "It woudl be interesting to put it about that he's a turncoat, but I'm not sure how far it would get us."
Morgan says, "be hard to start"
Morgan says (to erich), "i like the way yer thinkin'"
Erich says, "If there is no obvious advantage to waiting, tonight may be a good time for us to try the cave."
Dana says, "Perhaps, though it will be fuller now than during the day"
Erich asks, "Fuller than it will be later now that we have once again attacked some Ravens?"
Lydia says, "If we wait a while longer, they may be sleeping."
Dana asks (of Erich), "They're not a self-replenishing set, I don't think... or maybe they'll send someone to the bluecoat for advice...?"
Manny says, "(For reference, it's somewhere between nine and ten.)"
Dana says, "I haven't eaten dinner, for one"
Dana says, "But I'll do as you all like"
Jemmy says, "we could have a little snack and then come back"
Dana refrains from mentioning her wounds, partly because she's already forgotten them
Jemmy exclaims, "they'll never expect that!"
Lydia says, "Yes, they'll be waiting for hungry attackers, not fed attackers."
Dana asks, "um.  any advice from anyone ELSE?"
Erich says, "They might like it if we brought them muffins."
Dana says, "hmmm"
Dana says, "I wonder if they do their own cooking"
Jemmy exclaims, "I never give bad guys muffins!"
Dana says, "or whether someone, er, brings supplies"
[oneshot] Manny asks, "How long before Dana decides she's in the middle of an outbreak of a contagious mind-eating disease?"
Morgan says, "I think that with a few of them out of the way now, getting in should be fairly easy"
Morgan says (to dana), "likely they eats lots of meat and stew"
Dana says (to Morgan), "oh, very well. never let it be said I shied off a fight"
Morgan says, "these types are never decent cooks,.  or, um, so i'm told"
Dana says (to Morgan), "aye, I was wondering whether one might, er, bring them a little something to help them sleep"
Dana says, "But perhaps that's unnecessary"
Dana gets ready to go, if everyone else is
[oneshot] Erich asks, "Anyone have wound-dressing skills?"
[oneshot] Jemmy asks, "who's hurt? Dana has two dramatic wounds?"
[oneshot] Dana says, "right"
[oneshot] Dana says, "though I'm looking as though they don't hurt"
Jemmy says, "but wait, Dana's hurt"
Dana glances over at Jemmy, a little startled that he noticed this point.
Erich says, "Ah hm."
Erich says, "And none of us able to take care of those wounds."
Jemmy says, "we can go back and get dinner"
Lydia says, "Someone in town could look at them. So I suppose it's up to Dana."
Erich says, "and put a ham on the wounds."
Dana says, "heh"
Erich says, "What? It is an old country remedy."
Dana says, "If it seems a waste of time, we can skip it, but I wouldn't mind"
Morgan says, ""also, a waste of ham"
Morgan says, "but the evening is young"
Morgan says, "be best to hit them later when they're getting sleepy"
Erich says, "That is fine with me."
Lydia says, "As long as I'm not getting sleepy. It's been a long day."
Jemmy exclaims (at Erich), "I hear you can unlock doors with it, too!"
Erich says (to Jemmy), "Yes. "Free ham if you open the door!" often works."
Dana rolls her eyes but sets off toward town
Jemmy asks, "wait, what about him?"
Morgan says (to jemmy), "tie him up, leave him here"
Morgan says, "he won't wake up for a while"
Erich says, "If no one minds, I might bring him as a present for the police."
Morgan says, "or that"
Dana says (to Erich), "good point"
Dana says, "They deserve soemthing after a day of Lelarry"
Erich hefts the prisoner in a firemann's carry.
[oneshot] Manny asks, "Going to town, then?"
[oneshot] Dana says, "so it seems"
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "yeah"
GM says, "You set off on the long hike north, back to Miltshire."
Lydia brings the cloak along.
GM says, "At some point along the way, some of you think you hear a very faint noise in the brush off quite some distance to the east, but when you stop to listen, there's nothing."
GM says, "Eventually you get back to town around eleven or a bit later."
GM asks, "Where in town are you heading first?"
[oneshot] Dana says, "police station to drop off Manny, I imagine"
[oneshot] Dana says, "if there's anyone there"
GM says, "OK. All three of Darnell, Jase and Larry are there, actually."
Erich says, "I brought the present I promised."
Erich dumps Murray to the floor.
Jemmy exclaims, "hi!"
GM says, "Darnell is at his desk. Larry is in the cell, and Jase is holding the cell door open."
Jase says (to Larry), "Well, if you don't *want* to come out..."
Lydia tosses the cloak onto Manny and smiles.
Darnell asks (of Erich), "What, another friend?"
Darnell raises an eyebrow.
Dana says (to Darnell), "This one isn't as friendly, I'm afraid"
Erich says, "Not a friend, really."
Darnell sees the cloak, and starts trying to pull the cell door shut on himself.
[oneshot] Darnell says, "Gah."
Larry sees the cloak, and starts trying to pull the cell door shut on himself.
Darnell says, "Is that... one of those bandits? Nice work."
Lydia asks (of Larry), "You won't want to be inside once this fellow is in the cell. Why don't you come with us and we'll get you dinner?"
Darnell's smile starts to fade after a few moments. "But... "
Dana says (to Darnell), "Yes, and a damned recalcitrant one"
Dana asks, "yes?"
Darnell's face becomes a grimace. "We can't take him. I wish we could. But we can't."
Erich asks, "Oh?"
Jemmy asks, "you can't?"
Morgan asks, "what?"
Dana asks, "What's that mean?"
GM says (to Lydia), "With Jase's help, you get him out of the cell. He keeps clear of Manny, though."
Dana says, "He's a criminal, you catch criminals, it all seems clear enough..."
Darnell says, "It means what I said before. We're not allowed to go after the bandits."
Erich says, "But this one came to you."
Dana asks (of Darnell), "allowed by whom?"
Dana looks exaggeratedly patient
Darnell says, "It's not my choice. I wish it were. But they work outside the town."
Dana asks (of Darnell), "Who's likely to enforce this?"
Darnell says (to Dana), "The mayor."
Dana asks (of Darnell), "Mordigan?"
Darnell says (to Dana), "Huh? No, the mayor."
Lydia asks, "Well, he's in our jurisdiction. Might we use your cell to hold him?"
Dana says, "Ah... I see."
Dana asks, "And why does the mayor not want the roads hereabouts made safe?"
Darnell says, "Mayor Maelwyth -- Herman Maelwyth."
Jemmy exclaims, "we'll have to talk to the mayor!"
Darnell says (to Lydia), "Well... hmm."
Dana says (to Jemmy), "As usual, your thought o'erleaps our slower brains."
Darnell says (to Lydia), "That's an interesting idea."
Darnell scratches his chin. You're reminded that he hasn't shaved lately.
Dana says (to Darnell), "It'd only be for a little while."
Darnell says, "Well. I can't say as we could necessarily just do that on our own accord..."
Darnell says, "But if, maybe... we were hired..."
Dana rolls her eyes
Jase whispers (to Darnell), "Wait, wouldn't that be bribery?"
Erich says, "Ah."
Erich says, "A hotel for miscreants."
Jemmy says, "oh, no, we're just renting the cell"
Darnell glances at Jase. "You want an excuse to lock up that Raven, or not?"
Dana fishes around in her purse
Darnell says (to Jemmy), "Right. We could do that, certainly. A penn-- no, make it a farthing, for as long as you need, then."
Lydia asks the others, "Well, is this one worth a bit of rent?"
Erich says, "He's one less for us to deal with later."
Erich finds a farthing and passes it to Darnell.
Darnell nods.
Dana says (to Lydia), "Personally I'm still wanting a way to persuade the Bluecoat that this one betrayed him"
Dana says, "but that might be overcruel"
Darnell gives it to Jase. "Here, put this in the widows-and-orphans fund."
Dana says (to Darnell), "Good man."
Dana claps him on the back.
Erich says (to Darnell), "You do your profession credit."
Dana asks, "Now, grub and a doctor, hey?"
Jase goes upstairs with a farthing in his hand, and returns shortly without one.
Jemmy says, "oh boy, dinnertime"
Erich says (to Dana), "I believe leeches rather than grubs are traditional."
Lydia says, "It might be good when he wakes up, not to mention Larry here. At least for now."
[oneshot] Jemmy says (to Erich), "hee hee"
Dana says (to Erich), "bugs"
Dana says, "They're all alike to me"
Erich says, "Well enough."
Darnell notices Dana's leg. "Nasty slice there, ma'am."
Dana says (to Darnell), "Thanks to your new guest, sir."
Darnell asks, "Might I suggest finding the doctor, first?"
[oneshot] Lydia says, "that was to Darnell"
Dana asks (of Darnell), "I'm in favor -- where is there one?"
Darnell nods sagely, motioning to the body on the floor. Jase catches the signal and puts Manny in the cell.
[oneshot] Darnell says, "OK."
Darnell says (to Dana), "There're the Doctors Salbrook, they take care of most everyone in town."
Dana says (to Darnell), "very good"
Dana asks, "directions?"
Darnell says, "Their place is up on north street -- take the east bend, then pass a couple houses, it'll be on the right."
Darnell says, "Normally, I'd say not to wake 'em in the middle of the night, but I think that leg looks pretty nasty."
Dana nods
Dana heads off to follow these instructions
Dana says, "The rest of you can go ahead and eat if you like."
Dana is beginning to show the stress of having sprinted on the wounded leg and then walked several miles as well
Erich says (to Dana), "I will go with you, I think."
Dana nods.  "No problem with the company."
Erich asks, "Meet the rest of you back at the inn?"
Morgan says, "um, right, you don't need us there causing a scene at the doctor's I'll just go get you a nice dinner for when you get back"
Morgan heads out, quickly
Lydia goes with Morgan to the inn.
[oneshot] Dana says, "heehee"
Dana knocks on the doctor's door
GM says (to Morgan), "You get to the Inn pretty quickly, and find Peter Morton in the bar area putting away glasses and putting chairs on the table."
GM says (to Dana), "There's no answer at first."
Erich says to Dana as they walk, "I am not sure that we were not followed back. It is not good for any of us to be alone for the near future."
Dana says (to Erich), "good point."
Dana says, "I heard something too."
Morgan tries to talk Morton into serving dinner.
Dana says, "This whole place unnerves me a bit, I confess.  I wish we could've gotten some facts out of Manny, beyond what we already knew..."
GM says (to Morgan), "Luckily, he's a nice guy, and agrees to get you the last of the mutton. It's cold, but it's meat."
[oneshot] Morgan asks, "is there enough for all of us?"
GM says (to Dana), "A woman answers the door. She looks like she was sleeping."
[oneshot] GM says, "Yeah, but the five of you will finish it off."
[oneshot] Morgan says, "cool"
[oneshot] GM says, "No mutton tomorrow, alas."
Lydia looks through her pack and finds some cheese to go with the mutton.
Dana says (to woman), "Apologies for waking you, ma'am"
Dana shows leg
Denise asks (of Dana), "Hmm, what is it?"
Dana says, "I'm in a bit of haste about this, though."
Jemmy exclaims, "oh boy, mutton!"
Denise suddenly sees Dana's leg.
Denise exclaims, "Oh... my!"
[oneshot] (from Erich) Denise says, "I've never seen such a shapely leg!"
Denise says, "Yes, come right in."
Dana asks, "Unfortunate encounter with a knife... could I get it bandaged up?"
Erich helps Dana in.
Dana follows Denise.
Denise nods, "Of course. Right through there..."
Denise says (to Erich), "You, wait here."
Erich says, "Of course."
Denise points to a living room chair.
Denise goes in with Dana.
Denise asks, "That's quite a nasty cut. You're not going to tell me that's an accident, are you?"
Denise uncovers the area of the wound, and starts to clean it. It stings a bit.
Dana says (to Denise), "Ah well.  Someone meant it to happen, shall we say."
Denise nods. "Yes. It looks like they meant it twice."
Denise gets a clean towel, giving it to Dana.
Denise says, "Here, fold this up and put it between your teeth."
Dana looks a bit disturbed, but obeys.
Denise gets a needle and thread and starts stitching. It hurts. And without adrenaline coursing, it hurts worse than the original fight did.
Dana makes a face, but no noise.
Denise whistles. "There. Longer than I thought. OK, that's all done."
Dana says, "Thank you kindly"
Denise takes back the towel, and puts away her instruments.
Dana gets out whatever the going rate is for this sort of thing
Denise says, "Try to stay off that for a little bit -- you'll need a bit of rest, and it should be back to normal."
Dana says (to Denise), "Heh, rest-- I mean, yes indeed."
Denise says, "Ah, that would be six shillings, thank you."
Dana pays Denise, plus extra for the late-night wakeup
Dana says (to Erich), "Now, dinner..."
GM says, "Note that the leg still hurts, and still has two dramatic wounds -- and will continue to until you've gotten a little rest for the healing to kick in. (A good night's sleep, for example)"
[oneshot] Dana says, "(noted)"
Denise says, "Now try to stay out of knife fights, my dear."
Erich says (to Denise), "I would not bet on that."
Dana mutters, "Yes, Mom..."
Denise says, "It's bad enough having to stitch up the men from these things."
Dana looks dark indeed at that comment
Dana asks (of Erich), "Shall we?"
GM says, "When you get back to the Inn, you find that they've saved you enough mutton for two more people."
[oneshot] Dana says, "(know what's good for them, I see)"
GM says, "Unfortunately, that means Erich will go rather hungry, but he'll survive."
Erich says, "I suppose a light snack is better than no food."
[oneshot] Dana says, "(heh)"
Dana sets in with a vengeance
Dana says, "We also have an appointment with Mordigan on the morrow (between large healthy bites)"
[oneshot] GM says, "(Hmm. I guess Larry's with you, so we'll have to say there was mutton for six.)"
Dana says, "I wonder whether there's a way we could play this to our advantage... let drop to Mordigan, say, that Manny's given us some valuable information about the Ravens, and see what happens after that..."
[oneshot] GM says, "(Do you want to jump to morning)"
[oneshot] GM says, "(?)"
[oneshot] Alex says (to GM), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that ( is banana."
[oneshot] GM says (to Alex), "(Hush.)"
[oneshot] Alex says (to GM), "Not unless you give me a cork nut."
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "hmm"
[oneshot] GM gives Alex a drama cork nut.
[oneshot] Dana says, "(erm, well, unless people want to go back tonight...)"
[oneshot] GM says (to Dana), "Also an option."
[oneshot] Erich says, "Since Dana needs rest, I'm fine with going ahead and sleeping."
[oneshot] Morgan says, "soudns good"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "sleep sounds good"
Morton stifles a yawn.
[oneshot] Dana says, "(cool)"
Dana yawns openly.
Jemmy asks, "is it bedtime?"
Erich asks, "Mm? Oh, are people tired?"
Jemmy exclaims, "I thought we were going back!"
Dana says (to Jemmy), "You may, if you like.  I'm going to get some sleep."
Dana says, "The wounds seem more severe than I thought."
Jemmy frowns.
Erich whispers (to Jemmy), "There are sheep yet to be named."
Jemmy exclaims, "good point!"
Dana says (to Jemmy), "never mind, you can entertain yourself well enough in the meantime -- just so"
Dana says, "I recommend 'one,' followed by 'two' and 'three' and so on"
Dana says, "saves work"
Jemmy goes up to his room and names a few more sheep before going to sleep.
Morton says, "You manage to make it to bed around midnight or so."
Dana shakes her head sadly and drains the last of her meal.
GM says, "You generally sleep pretty well. Dana tosses and turns a bit from her leg, but it's feeling far better by morning."
Dana wakes up, puts the pillow back over her head; remembers that there's something for breakfast other than mutton, removes pillow again.
Erich is already downstairs, eating a large breakfast.
GM says, "Dawn comes up around six, as usual. You each get up whenever it is you think you're likely to get up. It is now Guerdi."
GM says, "Or, as we like to say, Thursday."
[oneshot] Morgan says, "mm"
[oneshot] Morgan asks, "are we thinking to continue tonight?"
[oneshot] Morgan asks, "or am i the only one not imbibing caffeine?"
[oneshot] Erich says, "I'm good to just about whenever."
[oneshot] Lydia says, "I'm fine."
[oneshot] Dana says (to Morgan), "I think you're on your own there"
GM says, "For breakfast, instead of sausages, you find bacon."
GM says, "Also, porridge."
[oneshot] Morgan says, "okay, let's keep going"
Morgan says, "mm, porridge"
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "I actually need to get going soonish too"
Morgan says, "does a man good"
[oneshot] Erich says, "It really is Jemmy's bedtime."
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "only for like an hour and a half, but I figure things'll be done by then"
Dana eats a huge amount of bacon'
Lydia wakes a bit before eight, and eats porridge and bacon cheerfully.
Dana says, "Good for the muscles, they say.  Or bone.  Or something."
Erich makes up for the food he missed last night.
Jemmy comes downstairs and eats bacon.
Jemmy says, "oh boy, bacon"
Jemmy exclaims, "!"
Dana says (to Jemmy), "Don't worry, it doesn't come from sheep."
Dana says, "You may consume it with a clean conscience."
[oneshot] GM says (to Dana), "I don't seem to remember much niggling guilt last night, when he helped finished the mutton..."
[oneshot] Dana says (to GM), "I don't think he made the connect."
[oneshot] Dana says, "er, connection"
[oneshot] Erich says, "We could draw a picture."
[oneshot] GM asks, "Or will he now spend the day drawing pictures of pigs?"
[oneshot] Morgan exclaims, "mutton isn't sheep.  one has 5 letters, the other 6!"
[oneshot] Dana says, "oh man"
[oneshot] Dana says, "YOU'RE ALL TURNING INTO HIM"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "yay"
GM asks, "What would you, the detectives, like to do next?"
[oneshot] Ender has left the channel.
[oneshot] Erich asks, "When do we meet with Mordigan?"
[oneshot] Jemmy asks, "4-ish?"
[oneshot] Dana says, "right"
[oneshot] Dana says, "lots of morning"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "mm, nap"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "no, wait, that's katre"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "afk for tea-making"
[oneshot] Erich says, "I have eaten. I could nap."
Lydia asks, "Well. Do we head back out of town?"
Dana says, "We might, I suppose, visit the bandits and be back by teatime"
Erich says, "I wouldn't mind exploring around the cave."
Dana says, "Works for me"
GM asks, "Do you still want to drop around the hills and all, or just go straight, now that you know where it is?"
Dana says, "oh, straight, I suppose"
Erich says, "Yes, but cautiously"
GM says, "After a merry little hike of an hour or a bit more, you get to a point where cautious people might start sneaking..."
Dana duly sneaks
Erich sneaks as well.
Jemmy skips.
Lydia falls to the back of the group and tries to keep quiet.
Morgan sneak sneak sneaking.
GM says, "Everyone sneaking on, Stealth TN 15."

Erich makes the universal sign for "Quick! Back the hell up!"
Morgan whispers to Jemmy, "I hope not"
Dana sneaks in a backward direction
GM says, "A half dozen of the others are carrying swords; the rest seem to have knives."
GM says, "Some are bandaged."
Morgan backs as sneakily as he can
Dana mutters a quick prayer to Theus, silently of course
GM says, "The six with swords (aside from the blackcloak), approach."
GM says, "Fight or flight time."
Dana asks, "six, hmm?"
Dana's blood is obviously up
Morgan shakes his head.
[oneshot] Morgan says, "bloodthirsty wench"
Jemmy looks around at the area around the cave.
Lydia says, "If they come in sixes, we can deal with them."
Erich mutters, "If you want to run, I'll cover."
Morgan says (to Erich), "with this crowd?  we'd better save them from themselves"
Morgan rushes forward
Dana says, "I wonder if there's a way to lead them into a goosechase... or at least far enough from the others that they won't be easily reinfo-- oops"
GM says, "By the fact that you haven't run yet..."
GM says, "Your choice is made. Initiative."

Lydia draws her sword and charges the approaching men. "Now get out of our way!"

[oneshot] Jemmy asks, "and where is the blackcloak guy?"
GM says, "The rest of the men -- a blackcloaked swordsmen and six well-trained bandits with knives -- charge in as well."

Lydia says, "No time for that just now. Come on."
Erich pulls his sword out of the man's head with a nasty squelching sound.
GM says, "The cave mouth would now appear to be entirely undefended."
Dana kicks Dave regretfully and takes his cloak
Morgan says, "let's go"
Morgan heads into the cave.
Dana says, "Just in case.  It might be useful."
Lydia rushes for the entrance, but slows to a walk as she enters.
Dana follows
Erich does as well, pausing only to wipe his sword.
Jemmy comes along also, staring back at Dave.
Dana says (to Jemmy), "(we can ask someone else his name. come on)"
GM says, "The cave leads a few yards before splitting up into several passage."
[oneshot] Morgan asks, "which is more rtavelled?"
Dana looks for the one that could be called 'straight back'
Jemmy exclaims, "let's split up!"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "i will roll my tracking if you like"
Erich says (to Jemmy), "I think not. And do keep your voice down."
GM says, "A guttering torch is affixed to the wall, although its faint illumination is unnecssary this close to the daylight, which is back to the west."
Dana says (to Jemmy), "(whispered) I'm not sure how many more there are likely to be"
[oneshot] GM says, "OK, but let me describe it first."
[oneshot] Morgan says, "heh"
Jemmy says (to Dana), "I know, I want to have a chance to fight one next time"
GM says, "A wide passage opens up to the right (south of you), and quickly turns to the east a couple yards in, so you can't see what's down there."
GM says, "A low passage descends slightly to the north (to your left), and it's too dark to see much of what's down there."
GM says, "Finally, ahead of you (to the northeast really), a final passage slants upward."
[oneshot] GM says (to Morgan), "OK, you can roll to find most travelled now if you like."

Morgan says, "Yes, but we should keep a watch here so we don't get trapped inside"
Dana says (to Erich), "It looks like the northeast goes where we want to, though"
[oneshot] GM says, "So to recap: west to the mouth, northeast inward. South most travelled, north: other."
Erich says (to Dana), "That blackcloak did say there were side passages, though."
Dana says (to Erich), "and so there are"
Jemmy looks around alertly.
Erich says, "and I dislike a straight march back to anywhere in enemy territory."
Morgan asks, "In the interest of not being suprised, what say we make sure there's no one down here before we start arguing?"
Dana shrugs
Dana asks, "we might as well explore as thoroughly as possible, I guess.  North, then?"
Jemmy exclaims, "let's go!"
Morgan asks, "Why not?"
Jemmy starts walking north.
GM asks, "Sneaking, or walking, or what?"
Lydia says, "hm."
Erich nods and begins edging down the passageway as quietly as possible.
Morgan follows north, keeping an eye behind them.
Dana says (to Jemmy), "(between teeth) for theus' sake, ssh"
GM says (to Jemmy), "You find that it gets dark fairly quickly."
Dana sneaks
GM says, "Anyone sneaking, call it TN 10."

Lydia turns on a little cheap lamp she has taken out of her pack.

GM says, "In the dim glow, you can make out stacks of crates piled up in here."
Jemmy exclaims, "(whispered) crates!"
Lydia looks for an open crate, or one not nailed shut.
Morgan returns with the torch, and casts a disappointed look at Lydia's lamp.
Jemmy exclaims, "(whispered) let's open one!"
GM says (to Lydia), "OK. You find one that you can lever open, near the front. It contains salted pork."
Erich tests a few to see if any are easily opened.
Morgan says (to jemmy), "it's not addressed to you"
Dana says, "mm, pork"
Dana says, "I see we found the pantry"
Morgan says, "mmhmm"
Erich sneaks out a bit of salted pork. Just in case he becomes hungry later.
Dana looks for another
[oneshot] Jemmy says, "hee hee pantsry hee hee"
[oneshot] Dana says, "yeah yeah"
Lydia asks, "Is that another exit back there, or just a funny shadow?"
GM says (to Dana), "You find one containing men's clothing."
Dana says (to Lydia), "You're the one with the lamp"
Morgan says, "ooh, i could use a new tunic"
Lydia moves to look at the shadow.
Dana pokes around desultorily for some pants her size
[oneshot] Erich says, "It *is* a pantsry"
Dana says, "Need a change of these, they're practically ruined..."
GM says (to Lydia), "It's just a darker rock, unfortunately."

Jemmy guards the entrance alertly.
Morgan says, "the mud's getting a bit heavy on this one."
GM says (to Morgan), "You find a nice grey one that fits you."
Morgan says, "excellent"
Morgan changes tunics.
Dana says, "mm, nothing is as fun as robbing robbers"
Erich checks a few more crates, chewing on some salted pork.
Morgan says (to dana), "indeed"
Dana averts her eyes with something that sounds faintly like a snicker
GM says (to Dana), "Hmm. Those blue ones are a little big, but would work fine with a belt."

Lydia says, "Okay, back up."
Dana fishes them out but does NOT change right this second

Morgan puts his muddy tunic in the bottom of the crate, and grabs some pork
Morgan says, "mm, some for me, some for later."

Dana says, "Too bad there's not a crate of sheep names"
[oneshot] GM says, "Sure, if you like."
[oneshot] Erich says, "I would, since I've tried twice, ahem ahem."
Dana keeps opening crates, looking for anything either a) useful or b) out of the ordinary
[oneshot] GM says, "Most of them can be prised open with a broadsword and Erich's muscles."

GM says (to Erich), "You find one containing jars of ale."
Morgan exclaims, "a treasure!"
GM says (to Dana), "Another has carved wooden figurines."

Dana asks, "All right, I can understand the rest, but what use have the bandits for these?"
Morgan puts a jar of ale in his pack
Dana asks, "Or are they just generic cargo?"
Dana asks, "And if so, why aren't they being fenced?"
Erich takes a few jars of ale as well.
Morgan says (to Dana), "likely this is just what they've collected as 'tolls'"
Morgan asks, "and do you know a fence who'd take that stuff?"
Dana shrugs
Erich says (to Dana), "Most bandits cannot choose what cargoes the receive."
Dana says (to Morgan), "good point"
[oneshot] GM says, "(Anyone opening more stuff?)"
Dana says, "though I'm not actually acquainted with many fences"

Morgan asks, "this way?"
Morgan heads to the northeast.
Lydia says, "Yes, I'm anxious to see those artifacts."

Erich says, "Well enough."
GM says (to Morgan), "You reach a place where the passage passes another side room."
Erich says, "My curiosity will trump my caution most any day."
GM says, "Shortly ahead, the passage turns a bit east, preventing you from seeing further down it."
Erich quietly edges up to the side room entrance.
GM says (to Erich), "There's no one visible in the side room."
Morgan waits for Erich to be sneaky
GM says, "Good thing, as they'd ahve seen your lights some time ago."
Erich steps into the side room.
GM says (to Erich), "It appears to hold other supplies -- weapons and such."
GM says, "Knives, swords, boots, cheap leather helmets, a few spare black cloaks. That kinda thing."
Morgan says, "Ah, nice"
Erich looks through the cloaks.
Lydia looks in. "Hm, enough cloaks for everyone if we want them."
Morgan finds a nice black cloak that fits well
GM says (to Erich), "Mostly similar to what you've seen so far, on Dave, Charlie, etc."
Erich says, "I could use a black cloak."
[oneshot] Dana says, ""You may recognize me from such fashionplates as Dave...""
[oneshot] Morgan asks, "what season is it?"
Dana still has the one she lifted from Dave
[oneshot] GM says, "Spring."
[oneshot] Morgan asks, "am i worried about winter wardrobe?"
Lydia takes a smaller one and puts it on, since it coudn't hurt.

Morgan says, "mm, gonna be rainy soon.  i could use a good cloak"
Erich finds a cloak large enough and wears it.
Jemmy gets a cloak to go over his cape, I guess.
GM says (to Jemmy), "Whoops, sorry."
GM says, "Erich took the last one."
GM says, "It's OK, it was too big for you anyway."

Jemmy fidgets.

[oneshot] Morgan says, "oh, man"

GM says, "'Hmm. R? Hmm. Is the rubies?'"

[oneshot] Morgan asks, "are they right outside the door?"
Erich murmurs, "Be prepared to back me up."
GM says, "'Nope!'"
[oneshot] Morgan says (to erich), "that is what i was planning"
[oneshot] GM says, "No, it sounds like they're further down the corridor."
Lydia carefully draws her sword.
Morgan points at himself, at erich, and at the door
Morgan holds up 3 fingers
GM says, "'Is it a ring?'"
GM says, "'Uh-uh!'"
Morgan holds up 2 fingers
Erich readies his sword.
Morgan holds up 1 finger
Morgan rushes out the door to the guards
Jemmy counts on his own fingers.
GM says, "'How about -- oh, I know, rocks!'"
Erich does as well.
Dana runs out too
GM says (to Morgan), "You find two blackcloak guards."
Lydia follows behind.
Morgan jumps on the nearer guard
GM says, "One big and stout, the other kinda short."
[oneshot] Morgan says, "I hope the short one was closer"
GM says, "That'd be the big one. Free action for Morgan, for being first."
Erich takes the further guard, trying to thwap him into submission with the pommel of his sword.

GM asks, "Anyone looking at the table or chest?"
Dana stands up slowly, holding a bit of stale cheese
Dana says, "sad waste..."
Erich says (to Dana), "It is yours."
Dana says (to GM), "sure, I'll look at the chest"
Erich goes over to examine the chest.
[oneshot] GM says, "(Since Jemmy's gone, we'll close up after this room)"
[oneshot] Erich says, "I am, as always, a little late."
GM says (to Dana), "It's about a foot long, and locked."
Lydia looks on the table.
Dana asks (of Morgan), "I don't suppose you have a, um, way with locks?"
GM says (to Lydia), "There are several objects on the table -- all of which apepar somewhate valuable..."
GM says, "A gold ring, a jewelled dagger..."
Morgan goes over to see what they're working with.
Morgan says, "mmm"
GM says, "A short white rod with strange symbols on it, a silver bracelet..."
Morgan says, "to be honest, the only key i've ever needed is my bootheel"
GM says, "And a longer black rod, with a silver knob on the end."
Morgan says, "But I suspect Erich here'd be even better than me at that"
Dana asks, "er, short white rod?"
Lydia says, "Here we are then."
GM says, "(Hold a moment for a couple pictures :) )"

GM says, "It's filled with money."
Morgan gasps.
GM says, "Mostly copper, a decent amount of silver, and even a few gold."
Erich says, "Ah. I believe I shall call this chest 'part of our reward'."
Dana says (to Erich), "What a way you have with names."
GM says, "Looks like several pounds' worth, at least. Possibly more."
Erich says, "A gift, true."
Morgan says, "indeed"
Morgan asks (of erich), "cause you any rtouble to carry it?"
Morgan says, "I trust you.  mostly."
Morgan smiles.
GM asks, "It's now approaching noon. Do you want to keep looking at this stuff here for a bit longer, or just call it a day until you can get Jemmy back, or what?"
Dana says, "So we have the articles... but we still lack the gentleman"
Erich grins and finds some way to secure the chest, or at least its contents.
[oneshot] Erich says, "I'm for stopping here since Jemmy had to go count sheep or something."
Dana says, "all this and a new pair of pants..."
[oneshot] Dana says, "catch a bus, actually, but yes"
Morgan says (to dana), "we'll have to find that blue fellow, i'd guess"
Dana says (to Morgan), "quite"
Lydia says, "I wonder if the thick fellow just out here could help with that."
Erich says, "and I'm tempted to try that short white rod."
Morgan says (to erich), "maybe when we're clear of here"
GM says, "(All the stuff from the table is still on the table, right?)"
Erich says (to GM), "So far, yes."
Morgan says, "let's get this and go"
Morgan takes a sack, and sweeps the loot into it without actually touching it
GM says, "OK, <End>"
[oneshot] GM says, "That's 2 more XP for everonye, including Jemmy."
[oneshot] Dana says, "excellent"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "yay"
[oneshot] Morgan asks, "what are we up to now?"

[oneshot] Morgan says, "so i don't go custard and harddrive shopping again"
[oneshot] Erich says, "Well, depends on how much notice everyone wants."
[oneshot] Dana says, "I'm pretty flexible this week"
[oneshot] Dana says, "maniacally busy when not seaing, but flexible"
[oneshot] Erich says, "If so, we can plan on next Friday night, but with the caveat that I may be unable to play."

[oneshot] Morgan says, "I'm thinking something is happening next weekend"
[oneshot] Morgan says, "oh, right, veek visit to nyc"
