Asher says, "guess I don't have to pile in back for a while, so I'm going to take a window seat"

GM says, "More specifically, you're meeting a guy named Benny in downtown Portland tomorrow morning, early."

Emvee says, "'less y'wanna wait 'til we get closer t' th'border."

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "checking, I really killed that quote"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "oh well"

Asher says, "no reason to make you keep up the spell any longer than we have to, I guess"

GM says, "To everyone inside the area, things look just normal. To everyone outside it, it's completely empty."

GM says, "As you drive on towards the border, you see a small building across the road. A guard steps out and waves you over to a cleared area on the California side."

ElvenGuard walks up to the vehicle and raps on the driver's window.

Sunny murmurs very softly, "I'm going to want to say oooOOOoooo when they open the truck."

Istereth idles the engine, blinks, and turns to look out the window rolling down.

Istereth says, "Evening."

ElvenGuard asks, "Hello, and do you have entry papers?"

Istereth says, "Yes sir. Three of us visiting for a couple days."

ElvenGuard says, "Let's see the chips."

[Crows-Nest] Asher says, "si-- I mean, three"

Istereth hands over the visas.

[Crows-Nest] Emvee exclaims, "Fun Fact: Did you know that formal 'papers' are called 'papers' because they used to be printed on pressed tree matter? Now you know!"

ElvenGuard says, "Hmm...troll, dwarf, elf."

ElvenGuard says, "Strange company, but everything's in order so that's your business."

ElvenGuard asks, "Anything to declare?"

Istereth asks, "Nothing comes to mind... remind me what that would be?"

ElvenGuard says, "Oh, anything you're bringing in over 500 nY in value needs to be declared, and then the customs boys will send you a nice tax form."

ElvenGuard asks, "Why don't you go ahead and open the back for a look now, and save time, hmm?"

Istereth says, "Sure thing."

Istereth opens the back and unjacks to walk back with him.

[shadowrun] Emvee asks, "Is this the point where we bribe him so we don't have to declare the electronics?"

ElvenGuard peers into the back. "That's a lot of boxes! What are you carrying?"

Istereth says, "Oh, just some junk. I guess we did bring along a few extra cells and so on for some gifts to friends."

ElvenGuard asks, "Hmm. Are you sure this is less than 500 nY worth?"

Istereth says, "But we'd kind of like to keep moving. Late night driving is hard enough as it is."

ElvenGuard asks, "Perhaps you have something else worth 500 nY I could compare with?"

Istereth says, "Nope."

ElvenGuard says, "We have to keep our country pure, after all."

Istereth says, "Well, unless you count the three of us."

[shadowrun] Emvee says, "Also, I'm amused at the fact that Ish is going to be bringing back three orders of food for one little dwarf in the back of the truck."

GM says, "You walk into the diner. There's a waitress sitting behind the counter, and only one other person there, an elf with a bald spot sitting in a booth sipping a coffee."

Thurgun and Ist order food, and bring it back out to the van. When the server gives him a look, he says, "O'im hungry.".

Deb asks (of Thurgun), "I'll serve ya anything you want, but break a chair and you're paying for it, okay?"

Thurgun says, "Heh, sure."

[shadowrun] Asher says, "ha ha"

[shadowrun] Asher says, "even elven diner waitresses are named Deb"

Deb exclaims, "Hey, Vern! Need a grizzly, a polar, and a kodiak, pronto!"

Vern says, "Comin' up."

Istereth says, "And a large coffee."

Deb gets the coffee, and a few minutes later, the rest of the order.

Benny hops up, tosses a credstick to Deb, and says, "Okay, let's go."

[shadowrun] Emvee says, "Perhaps he *is* our cargo"

Benny asks, "You're...um, Istereth?"

Istereth, once outside, says "That's I. Care to meet the rest of the group, or are you leading us elsewhere first?"

Benny says, "I don't care about that. Come over to my car, it's just around the corner."

Thurgun follows.

Benny looks around first, then leads the way around the corner of the block, to an alley beside the diner.

Benny says, "Come on, come on."

Istereth says, "I'm a little confused on the details, here."

Benny says, "All you gotta do is take it to Seattle, to the offices of the Young Elven Technologists."

Benny says, "When you get there, ask for Dan Fieldov."

Benny says, "He'll take it, and give you the other 10K."

Benny tosses another credstick to Istereth.

Benny says, "Here's the first 10K."

Benny walks up to an Americar and pops the trunk.

Thurgun asks, "Is it heavy?"

Benny pulls a small briefcase out of the trunk, and then quickly pushes it at Thurgun.

Benny says, "See for yourself."

Benny says, "Whatever you do, don't open it."

Thurgun hefts it.

Benny asks, "Anything else?"

Thurgun says, "Don't think so."

Benny slams the trunk shut and heads for the front of his car.

Benny hops in the car and squeals away.

Radio exclaims, "And traffic heading north is snarled badly this morning. We have an unconfirmed report that the northern border has been sealed, as of sometime early this morning, and this is causing backups and jams all over.
