Dmitri says (to Profesor), "It sounds dangerous maybe to be in the room when it works. But if you want to."

GM says, "heh. anyway ... when last we left off, Signi was putting the model on the tray and pushing a button, Minico was near the foot of the stairs, Dmitri was between the huge viewing room and the top of the stairs, and the Professor was in the viewing room."

Signi pushes the button.

[Crows-Nest] Minico says, "the professor...in the viewing room...with the giant hologram coins"

GM says (to Signi), "the whole model glows faintly."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "where are will and guil?"

William is standing in the hallway where he can see into the viewing room.

Signi fingers her belt-dagger, watching it.

GM says, "oh yeah ... I assume Guilliaume is at the stairs."

GM says (to prof), "the coins shimmer, and then are replaced by a huge version of the ship, floating about four feet off the ground."

ProfesorJinquele exclaims (at Hall), "It worked!"

Dmitri shouts, "The ship!"

ProfesorJinquele steps into the ship.

Minico shouts (to Signi), "The Profesor claims it has worked!"

Signi exclaims, "good!"

Dmitri asks (of Profesor), "Is it not real?"

Signi walks back to the viewing room.

Minico joins her.

GM says (to prof), "there's a bit of a tingly sensation as you pass through the image, but now you're wading through what appears to be the bottom of the ship. It's full of weird-looking cannons."

Minico says, "this i must see"

GM says (to Signi), "(er, walking back with the model, or leaving the model behind?)"

Minico steps into the image.

ProfesorJinquele says, "It's not tanglible, but the internal regions of the vessel have been rendered."

ProfesorJinquele says, "This portion of the craft includes some sort of weaponry."

Dmitri sees no one will be pushing buttons just now, and walks up to the ship.

William goes to have a look inside as well.

Signi says, "good point -- i suppose i'd better leave the model and stay by the cylinder gm"

[Crows-Nest] Minico asks, ".profesor the inner part of the craft has been turned into lard?"

GM says, "There appear to be strange glyphs of some kind, hovering in the air above various bits and stuff."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "does the ship appear to be full-sized?"

Dmitri takes a closer look at the scaffolding. He walks around the perimeter, looking for anything like ladders or stairs.

[7thsea] GM says, "pretty much. seems a bit large though"

Minico looks for anything resembling a cargo hold.

ProfesorJinquele says, "A variety of aerial inscriptions apepar to denote information about the application or identification of some of the items here."

GM says (to dmitri), "lots of places that could be climbed. Some parts of the scaffolding are closely spaced enough that you could use it as a ladder."

ProfesorJinquele notes down some of the glyphs in his notebook, along with what they're next to.

GM says (to Minico), "no cargo hold down here at this level."

ProfesorJinquele looks for other rooms near here.

GM says (to Minico), "then again, given that the whole thing is four feet off the ground, you're sort of swimming around with just your eyes above the floor."

ProfesorJinquele asks (of Hall), "Are you still depressing the button, or have you released it?"

Minico says, "peste. i need to be talker"

[7thsea] Minico says, "er taller"

Dmitri asks (of Minico), "You need lifting?"

Signi asks (of Profesor), "I have released it -- should I depress it?"

GM says, "the bottom of the ship is sort of rounded. You can't see any other rooms on the ship without getting a little higher."

Minico says (to Dmitri), "Actually, yes. Though it might be better to lift the Profesor -- he's far more the expert than I."

ProfesorJinquele says (to Hall), "Yes, it would be interesting to see the results of a repeated application."

William asks, "I wonder whether it would be possible to change the position of the ship by moving where you put the model in the box?"

William says, "one could lay it on its side and then we could have a look at all the layers at once"

ProfesorJinquele says (to William), "The placement of the sails might make that difficult."

Dmitri walks up, and puts one hand on the hull.

Minico says, "Still, a better angle might be found."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "from dmitri's perspective the ship now has four or six legs?"

GM says (to Dmitri), "not tangible. As with the coins, you encounter some sort of tingly resistance."

[7thsea] Dmitri asks, "legs?"

Minico bends down, then leaps high, watching the ship around him.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "minico and myself walking around half-inside it dmitri?"

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "oh. 4 i thought"

Minico says, "This device is marvelous! I wonder what it would take to make more of them."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele wasn't sure if William had come in or not.

GM says (to minico), "heh. you can't jump quite THAT high."

Gunther disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again.

Minico imagines the possibilities.

ProfesorJinquele says, "such a device could hold unimaginable benefits for the study of biology and medicine"

Minico says, "And entertainment."

GM says (to prof), "...if you could sneak it past the Inquisition."

Dmitri says (to Minico), "Let's lift the profesor."

Minico exclaims (at William), "Imagine the people who could see your performances thanks to a device like this!"

Minico nods at Dmitri and takes up position next to the Profesor.

ProfesorJinquele looks slightly nervous, but doesn't fight.

William says, "Interesting point..."

William says, "though i'm not sure i would find it congenial to perform from inside a little box"

GM says, "heh. let's have a Finesse roll from the lifters."

Minico says, "We'd have to make the box bigger"

Minico says, "as well as see if more than one image could be made."

Dmitri says (to Profesor), "Here, sit on the shoulders, then, try to stand on them."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "anti-television?"

[Crows-Nest] Minico says, "you know there aren't little people in your radio williams"

ProfesorJinquele asks (of Signi), "Did you repeat the button used to activate the current state?"

Dmitri would go help relay the request, if he understood it.

Signi pushes the button again.

Dmitri gets a few feet away from the ship.

GM says, "the image moves a little ... a magnification of however much the model may have shifted between now and when the button was first pushed."

ProfesorJinquele says (to Signi), "Additional depressions appear to produce no significant alterations -- perhaps the utilzation of another button might cause a more practical adjustment to its position or magnitude of volume."

Minico shouts (to Signi), "He says to press other buttons, I think."

Signi pushes more buttons.

ProfesorJinquele asks, "Yes, didn't I just say that?"

ProfesorJinquele says innocently.

Minico says (to Profesor), "Undoubtedly."

William goes to look at the buttons signi is pushing

Dmitri says (to Profesor), "You're very hard to understand."

GM asks (of Signi), "how many buttons?"

Signi says, "I push buttons until they say that something interesting has happened."

[Crows-Nest] Minico says, "as long as the interesting thing that happens doesn't end with us saying 'ow ow ow fire' signi"

ProfesorJinquele says (to Dmitri), "My apologies. I haven't entirely mastered the accent of this this dialect, so certain tonal variations in the vowels might distort my speech."

GM says, "the image rotates a little, one end going down and another end going up."

ProfesorJinquele says, "Aha."

ProfesorJinquele says (to Signi), "It has altered the orientation of the image."

Minico steps back, surprised.

ProfesorJinquele walks to the lower end.

Signi asks, "should I continue?"

GM says, "(the image never gets less than tree feet above ground, by the way)"

GM says (to prof), "stairs."

William says, "we are direly in need of a ladder"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "but it's a different part of the image that's in reach now gm?"

ProfesorJinquele says (to Signi), "Wait a moment, perhaps."

[7thsea] GM says, "yes. you see a flight of stairs"

[7thsea] GM says, "stairs in image"

ProfesorJinquele says (to William), "With no edifician construction to support it, a ladder would liekly remain eminently unstable."

ProfesorJinquele asks (of Signi), "What would be the consequence if this button were repeated?"

Signi says, "well "

Signi pushes it again.

William says, "Between us I imagine we might be able to steady it."

GM says, "you hear approaching footsteps. someone laughs raucously."

William says, "Failing that, a footstool, or perhaps a constructed balcony such as we use in the playing of--"

William breaks off abruptly.

GM says, "also, the image tilts more, in the same direction."

[7thsea] GM says, "people in viewing room"

Dmitri takes out his knife again, and looks around.

Minico exclaims, "hsst!"

ProfesorJinquele whispers, "Should we conceal ourselves in the side-chambers?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "(sorry stage whisper)"

Minico whispers, "Not a bad idea. I'll scout ahead if possible, then return."

ProfesorJinquele does so.

William withdraws in the direction of Signi and the machine.

Dmitri goes with the profesor.

Minico creeps ahead.

Signi asks (of William), "has something happened?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "how many exits were there?"

[7thsea] Minico asks, "i'm guessing this requires a stealth roll?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "just the one plus what we've seen?"

William says (to Signi), "(quietly) Someone seems to be approaching the main chamber."

[7thsea] GM says, "exits from this room? just the two: one from whence you came and one more at the opposite end"

Signi frowns, and glances at the exits.

GM says (to Minico), "wits + stealth, yes."

Minico asks, "Can I tell whether they're headed our way or not?"

GM says (to minico), "they're heading your way, yes."

GM asks (of minico), "er, I assume you're lurking in the passage?"

Minico hurries back to the others. "Vendel. And they're headed our way. Do we hide or say hello?"

ProfesorJinquele says (to Minico), "It would provide us with the possibility of direct observation, and to thereby gauge their intentions better."

GM says, "There is a resounding crash from further up the passage. Some loud cursing, and another, smaller crash."

Minico says (to Dmitri), "I could be mistaken."

William says (to Dmitri), "I wonder whether they would be amenable to taking us back, then..."

Minico fades into the shadows.

[Crows-Nest] ProfesorJinquele exclaims, "yay!"

William stands protectively between Signi and the door, and listens closely.

[Crows-Nest] Dmitri says, "i bet someone nearby knows the rune to crack that minico"

ThreeVestenStooges exclaims, "Ooo...!"

ThreeVestenStooges stare at the floating image and glance around. "more strangeness...."

William asks (of Signi), "I don't suppose you possess anything small and frightening?"

ProfesorJinquele stage-whispers, "It appears they are generally unaware of the nature of this place."

William says, "we might try doing things to the projection to try to distract them from our friends"

Signi asks, "a spider?"

William says, "if they are busy investigating it"

William asks, "You have a spider?"

Signi says, "well no"

GM says, "One of the stooges slowly approaches the image."

Signi glances around for one, hopefully.

William looks for any sort of insectoid thing

ProfesorJinquele stage-whispers, "It is possible that we might be able to convince themt hat we are responsible for it."

Dmitri stage-whispers, "Why?"

William asks (of Signi), "which of these buttons have we not tried yet?"

William says, "i think it would be wise to give them something to wonder at"

GM says, "(hee)"

[Crows-Nest] Dmitri asks, "stage-whispers "you want them to run away? to help us?"

GM exclaims, "The image suddenly shrinks a little!"

William listens for any sound of reaction.

GM says, "The one in front jumps back and inspects his hand closely, wiggling the fingers and comparing his hands."

William presses another button

[7thsea] William says, "(the next one down)"

GM says, "The image grows bigger, back to the original size."

GM says, "The three of them are now talking animatedly. They seem to think that getting off this island soon would be a Good Idea."

Dmitri says, "Soon they will run. We should play the game with them."

ProfesorJinquele nods.

Dmitri steps out. "What are you doing with our ship?"

ThreeVestenStooges exclaims, "!!!"

ProfesorJinquele follows.

[7thsea] William says, "(is dmitri's voice loud enough for me to hear?)"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "signi could hear us even after minico stopped relaying"

William exchanges glances with Signi

Minico slides behind the Vesten.

William coughs faintly, but removes the model and puts his hand into the machine instead

ThreeVestenStooges stop short, turning pale.

William makes a scary fist

ProfesorJinquele draws his pistol in case this doesn't stop them.

William presses the project button again.

Dmitri exclaims, "drop the weapons!"

William says (to Signi), "(I am reminded of making shadow pictures for children...)"

ThreeVestenStooges backpedal very very quickly.

Signi says (to William), "(quietly) I don't think the image can actually reach the ground, remember"

GM asks (of Minico), "you're behind them, aren't you?"

William says, "(it doesn't sound as though it has to) signi"

Minico says, "i am indeed"

Dmitri says, "We didn't touch it."

Minico pats one of the unconscious men. "I suspect they will be angry when they wake up."

Minico kicks the one who slashed the Profesor.

William picks up one of the helmets. "Ah, this would be a fine piece for a costume!"

Minico hurries to the Profesor. "Easy, now. Easy. Try to breathe slowly."

ProfesorJinquele inspects his own injuries.

Signi says, "we left some of it hanging from the chasm, but I have another piece"

ProfesorJinquele tries to tie his wound tightly, and does a few breathing exercises while he's at it, to clear his lungs.

ProfesorJinquele binds their wounds, although not so tightly as their ankles and wrists were bound.

GM says (to Minico), "(wait, don't you? I thought I gave everyone Vendel.)"

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "well we met in vendel. and i don't speak castillian"

[7thsea] Signi says, "hee hee"

Minico says (to GM), "I do indeed, but didn't know we were all speaking it right now."

ProfesorJinquele takes a few moments to reload his pistol and put it away.

Signi says, "well so"

Guilliaume peeks into the next passage.

Signi says, "there must be more than these three on the island"

Minico says, "They undoubtedly represent our best way off the island, in fact."

William says, "perhaps if we wake them up we could find out more"

ProfesorJinquele says, "i concur with the suggestionn of interrogation"

Minico picks what looks like the leader and cuffs him gently.

GM says, "the fellow coughs a little and eventually awakes."

Minico says, "Welcome back. We have some questions for you, my rash friend."

William is still wearing the guy's helmet

GM says, "He glares at you."

William bites his thumb at guy

Minico says, "Cooperate and it will go well for you."

[7thsea] GM exclaims, "hee!"

[7thsea] Dmitri exclaims, "yay thumb-biting!"

Minico says, "Do not and I shall turn you over to my ferocious thumb-biting friend."

Dmitri also wanders toward the other passageway.

William makes his most furious glare.

Signi is standing back, more or less out of sight.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "so as not to be associated with the thumb-biting?"

Minico asks, "What are you and your ship doing here?"

(From GM) Vesten says, "Replenishing supplies. Why?"

[7thsea] Signi says, "well since they will probably get cranky about vendels"

GM says (to Dmitri), "Guilliaume is ahead of you, poking around in the passageway and wandering further on."

Minico says, "I see you misunderstand our roles. I ask questions; you answer them."

Minico says, "Do not make me ask for the help of my friend there."

William cracks his knuckles.

Minico asks, "When did you arrive, and when are you leaving?"

(From GM) Vesten says, defiantly, "I will die before I reveal that ... that...." he suddenly looks sort of sheepish. "heh. i dunno."

William says, "(aside) Wonderful. We're interrogating a moron."

Dmitri says (to Guilliaume), "Let's see where this goes, but not go too far from the others."

Minico grins. "The captain tells you what to do and you do it, eh? That's always the way it worked on ships I've been on."

ProfesorJinquele stays to back up William and Minico.

Guilliaume says, ""what? oh, you surprised me. Let's see what's ahead."

[7thsea] Minico asks, "anyone have a canteen or the like?"

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "sounds like an assumable object"

(From GM) Vesten looks proud. "Not any more. We dealt with him."

(From GM) Vesten looks proud. "I guess we leave after the hangover tomorrow."

[7thsea] Minico asks, "is it gm?"

[7thsea] William laughs

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "signi would i'm sure"

[7thsea] GM says, "sure"

Minico asks, "Really? What did he do?"

Minico offers a sip of water to the Vesten.

Guilliaume goes further ahead. The passageway opens into another large chamber, a long and rectangular one this time. There's an odd machine at this end, and you can't quite make out the other end.

ProfesorJinquele looks at the Vestens from an anthropological standpoint -- their costume, dialect, etc.

(From GM) Vesten ignores the offer. "We have had enough of turning away from valuable booty. Now on, we attack whatever ships we want."

(From GM) Vesten eyes Minico's clothes suspiciously.

Minico says, "Turning away? I'm surprised. I thought Vesten ships were crewed by fearless men."

GM says (to Dmitri), "There's also a short passage off in another direction from this end of the rectangular chamber. You can just see a rectangular block of stone lying on its side further in that passageway."

(From GM) Vesten says, "Arrr, aye! We'll not have him, or you, making cowards of us!"

Minico says, "No one can make another man a coward unless that man is truly a coward to begin with."

(From GM) Vesten spits. "Fight your own battles, then, southlander."

Dmitri says (to Guilliaume), "I thought maybe this would be the exit already."

Dmitri says (to Guilliaume), "Maybe we should go back."

Minico says, "I do, as your mates can attest."

Minico asks, "I take it you have had dealings with Vodacce?"

Guilliaume says, "Maybe the exit's down that way."

(From GM) Vesten says, "aye, for a little gold and the loss of our pride, you would have us only attack the Vendel merchantships."

Dmitri says, "There may be more pirates. We shouldn't separate."

Minico says, "A little gold? The stories of Vendel honor and cunning have been clearly exaggerated."

Minico says, "To more practical matters: my friends and I are shipwrecked, and need passage."

(From GM) Vesten says, "When explorer ships from Avalon sail by with goods worth twice what we can get... AND DON'T CALL ME VENDEL!"

Guilliaume says, "i guess you're right"

Minico says, "I will stop calling you Vendel when I discover that you are not acting like them."

William smirks.

Minico says, "caring only for profit"

[7thsea] Minico says, "says the vodacce merchant"

[7thsea] William says, "heehee"

GM says, "The Vesten dude shuts up and glares."

Minico pauses for a moment. "We don't need to exchange insults. My concern now is getting my friends and I off this island."

(From GM) If you want passage you had best take it up with Hagar. the new captain.

Minico asks, "Will your shady dealings with Vodacce make that impossible if I am along?"

(From GM) says the Vesten.

GM says (to Dmitri), "you arrive back at the viewing chamber. They're still interrogating the guy."

(From GM) The Vesten shrugs. "I'm not the one to speak to."

Minico says, "Thank you."

Minico draws aside and motions the others to join him.

ProfesorJinquele joins him.

GM says (to Signi), "(whoa. so the rumours of Vodacce financing the Vesten raiders are true?)"

William goes over as well.

Minico says (quietly), "Something odd is going on, and I'm afraid my fellow merchants are involved."

Signi steps over also.

Minico says, "When we talk to Hagar, clearly someone else will need to be our spokesperson."

Minico says, "though I would like to find out more about how Vodacce gold has been financing Vesten raids."

Minico says (to Signi), "I suspect neither of us will be very welcome right now."

Dmitri rejoins the others and listens.

Signi says, "william is no doubt used to fancy speaking"

Minico asks (of William), "You did an admirable job of looking fierce just then. Can you continue it?"

William says (to Signi), "I prefer to say I am adept at persuasion"

William adjusts the helmet on his head.

Guilliaume asks, "er what about me?"

William asks (of Minico), "(with frightening ferocity) 'looking fierce'? Do you imply that I am not indeed fearsome?"

Minico holds up his hands and backs away a step. "Merely that most actors are not known for their fighting temperament."

William draws his sword and brandishes it swiftly, bringing the button to a stop inches from Minico's throat.

Minico says (to William), "Look down."

Minico's sword is at William's stomach.

Minico says, "That is what you potentially face in this."

ProfesorJinquele stage-whispers, "As a side note, I beleive we can safely deduce the identity of the prisoner we noted earlier at the volcano's peak."

Minico puts away his sword. "Are you still willing?"

William breaks off, laughing, and puts the sword away. "I shall endeavor to be frightening without disturbing our audience overmuch."

Minico grins. "Wonderful."

Minico says (to Profesor), "You raise an interesting point. We might be able to rescue the captain and gain our passage that way."

William says, "Though I daresay they lack the culture to appreciate the nuances of a good speech..."

ProfesorJinquele stage-whispers, "And if this man testimony proves accurate, it is expected that the majority of the crew will me temporarily out of fighting condition for a time tomorrow morning."

Dmitri says, "We could talk to the new captain first. If that fails, we could help the old captain."

William says, "how shall we put it to the new captain? i think it is a bit difficult to position ourselves as fearsome when we come to them as beggars"

[7thsea] William says, "(also when we talk in lowercase)"

[7thsea] Minico laughs.

Minico says, "I lean towards rescuing the old captain, since he will be more likely to help us out of gratitude than the new captain will out of nebulous charity."

William nods in agreement.

William says, "I still wish we knew more about all this-- the machine and so forth"

ProfesorJinquele says, "Should we first continue our inspect of this subterranean area? We may find a second egress whose location is better suited to the task."

Minico says, "I doubt our prisoners know anything of it."

Dmitri says, "There's more machines ahead."

Minico asks, "Signi? Guilliaume? What say you two?"

Guilliaume asks, "uh. maybe we could sneak in and steal the ship while they're not looking?"

Signi hrms.

Dmitri says, "That may be easiest."

Signi says, "it is of course tempting but i don't know how many crew it requires to run"

Guilliaume looks pleased and proud.

Signi says, "i suppose these rowed boats require less men on the sails"

GM says (to Signi), "(...and more men in the galley)"

Minico says (to Signi), "Regardless, I doubt we're quite the crew you'd need for such a ship."

Signi says, "well as long as you can move an oar"

Minico says, "I've never hoisted a lanyard in my life."

Dmitri says, "We might hide in the ship."

Signi says, "but it would probably be easiest to find another way"

Signi says, "well"

Signi says, "i suppose the first thing is to finish exploring the area"

Minico says, "Agreed."

ProfesorJinquele asks, "Is there an compelling rationale to remaining here while continuing this conversation, rather than extending our knowledge further into that corridor to speak while ambulating?"

William says, "And then approach the old captain, perhaps."

Dmitri says, "The old captain might come gladly without his crew. Or some crew."

Minico says, "We should take our prisoners along. No sense in letting them warn the ship."

ProfesorJinquele says, "Or we could restrain them by affixing their ropes to some immobile feature of the area."

ProfesorJinquele looks to the scaffolding.

Minico says (to Profesor), "If you think they wouldn't get away."

Dmitri says, "If we explore, we can also explore above."

Signi asks, "well -- should we scale this first?"

Signi sets a tentative foot upon the scaffolding, testing its weight.

GM says (to Signi), "It's pretty firm."

ProfesorJinquele says, "That seems reasonable."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "is this the same scene as the battle or a separate one?"

Minico says, "Let's secure the three pirates, then."

Signi says, "well"

Signi lifts and places another foot, and starts climbing.

GM says (to Signi), "You clamber about like a monkey. The scaffolding covers the walls and the ceiling, allowing you access to just about every part of the image if it were there."

ProfesorJinquele asks, "may i suggest using ropes to secure each climber to his or her predecessor and successor?"

Signi says, "ah"

ProfesorJinquele is obviously too late with his suggestion.

Signi says, "perhaps somebody else should replace the ship in the bowl"

William hurries off to do this

GM says, "(putting the ship in the bowl and pressing the appropriate button (which I'm sure you remember) brings the image back.)"

Dmitri helps tie the Vestens to the scaffolding.

Signi looks over the image to see if there's anything else of note.

[7thsea] Dmitri asks, "menial tasks?"

[7thsea] GM says, "never mind. i assume they're tied up properly"

Dmitri also climbs up the scaffolding, but instead of looking over the ship, tries to find out what's at the top of the room.

GM says (to Signi), "not much that you really understand. It really doesn't look seaworthy ... too many openings too low down where the water could get in. Seems to use a lot of amber in the construction, but maybe that's just the model."

GM says (to Dmitri), "You get about a third of the way up before the curvature makes it too difficult to get any further."

ProfesorJinquele keeps looking around at the inside of the ship from the ground.

GM says (to Dmitri), "but you see enough to tell that it probably doesn't make much practical sense."

ProfesorJinquele says, "I have an idea..."

ProfesorJinquele goes back down the corridor towards the room where the ship was found.

ProfesorJinquele takes one of the empty jars and brings it to the contraption.

[7thsea] Signi asks, "how wide was the tunnel leading to the volcano gm?"

Dmitri returns to the ground.

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "not big enough"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "who's at the controls right now?"

[7thsea] William says, "i am"

GM says (to minico), "You get to around two-thirds up. High enough, just not to the absolute horizontal bit at the top of the dome. As before ... not a ship you'd sail in, though it's quite a novelty."

ProfesorJinquele says (to William), "These container were with the model. I wonder if their purpose is to be observed with this device."

Minico returns to safe ground.

[7thsea] GM says, "(to signi) about 5 feet across"

William asks, "You want to try projecting one of them?"

William shrugs, takes out the model, and places the glass jar in the bowl instead. Then he presses the project button.

GM says, "Big magnification of a bottle. You can see amber encrusted at the bottom. It looks icky."

[7thsea] Dmitri afks during the lag.

[7thsea] Guilliaume asks, "lag?"

ProfesorJinquele nods, "It may achieve no purpose whatsoever, but that will remain unknown untill an attempt is amde.

[Crows-Nest] Minico exclaims, "don't press *that* button! that's the lag button!"

[7thsea] Alex says, "awwwk! word on the street is that lag is what iain always has guilliaume"

ProfesorJinquele asks, "which control created the chromatic aberrations earlier?"

Minico says (to Profesor), "There is nothing in the bottle save some amber at the bottom."

GM says, "heh. yeah, the colours are all inverted. While Thean science hasn't figured out about colour inversion yet, Thean artists and architects have figured out that certain colours give interesting contrasts. Well, red and green, etc.."

Dmitri says, "we should go onward. someone bring the small ship"

ProfesorJinquele says, "Perhaps the jars are unimportant."

ProfesorJinquele makes sure they have the ship, and aheads after Dmitri.

GM asks, "Back to the long rectangular chamber?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "could you describe it again for those of us who weren't there the first time?"

Dmitri says (to GM), "(da)"

GM says, "It's a long, rectangular chamber, quite large. Your light isn't bright enough to illuminate the far end of it. From this end, there's the passage back and another passage going elsewhere."

GM says (to Prof), "also, here you see a giant orrery, only with a few extra planets and moons."

ProfesorJinquele says, "hrm"

ProfesorJinquele inspects the orrery, particularly looking at the extra bitss.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "are the extra planets toward the outer edges?"

[7thsea] Minico asks, "bitss? what hass it got in itss mainsspringsss?"

[7thsea] GM says, "yes. also there's a flat ring around the planet volta"

GM says, "There seems to be a lever in the central column, next to an opening which contains what must be the motor."

ProfesorJinquele pulls the lever, ducking if any of the planets look like they'd hit him.

ProfesorJinquele says, "This is an orrery -- a mechanical model of the astronomical bodies in orbit about Solas."

[7thsea] Dmitri asks, "did you say there's a big block of some sort in the large room?"

GM says, "Nothing happens. Looking in the opening, you see that it's because there's a connection missing from the lever to the motor. The motor has a smaller bit that was presumably supposed to be connected to the lever."

ProfesorJinquele says, "But it appears to represent several celestial forms as yet undiscovered by modern telescopy."

Signi says, "interesting"

ProfesorJinquele tries to fix the connection.

GM asks, "how?"

Minico says, "Hm."

[7thsea] GM says, "yes"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "depends on what kind of a connection it's supposed to be"

GM says (to Prof), "mechanical connection. it's been broken off."

Dmitri takes a look.

ProfesorJinquele says (to Dmitri), "If it can be fixed, it should be able to demonstrate the motion of these bodies."

Dmitri asks, "Move the small thing with one of these swords?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "can i reach it by hand?"

GM says (to Prof), "well, apparently the motor itself is removable. The connection is probably a stiff bit so that you can push the small bit from the outside."

GM says (to prof), "and yes, you can reach it, with just a little difficulty."

ProfesorJinquele tries pushing the connecting bit.

GM says (to Dmitri), "It reminds you of some of the clockwork eggs that are popular among the richer nobility in Ussura."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "how is the motor conencted to the orrery itself?"

[7thsea] GM says, "gear"

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "that's the first time i've seen a syrne contraption no longer working. considering their record maybe it was previously looted. </ooc>"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "there are the broken suits too"

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "that's not a contraption"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "true"

GM says, "When the bit is pushed, the motor wheezes a little, and then a gear sticking out from the top begins to spin. The orrery creaks a little as the planets begin to move."

ProfesorJinquele smiles.

Gunther arrives, looking for booty.

Gunther says, "arr"

ProfesorJinquele steps gack to watch it.

ProfesorJinquele says, "a marvellous piece of work"

ProfesorJinquele makes some notes about the size, location, and speed of the extra spheres, as they relate to the known ones.

GM says, "indeed."

GM says, "(what's everyone else up to, by the way?)"

GM says, "arr gunther"

Gunther does the time warp again.

Dmitri is watching the orrery with some interest.

Minico says, "I'm marvelling at the orrery, but becoming bored and thinking of trying the next passage."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "you'd think that with all the astronomical syrneth artifacts people are constantly discovering we'd consider those extra planets 'known' even if we hadn't seen them yet ourselves :)"

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "the church is a large influence in all things scholarly. doubt they'd like that idea problem"

[7thsea] Dmitri exclaims, "!!!"

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "that was 'problem: ...'"

ProfesorJinquele looks to see if there's anything special about any of the spheres -- special markings, labels, etc.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "hee"

Minico begins wandering down the next passage.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "do all the known bits of the orrery seem to be accurate?"

Dmitri asks, "do we want to take what we can to sell?"

Dmitri says, "if that motor comes out it might be worth many many cows"

Minico stops. "Sell?" he says.

GM says (to Prof), "Terra has a big X on the spot where Avalon is."

ProfesorJinquele says, "I don't know about commercial opportunities, but we may find some practical value for an automated motor of that sort."

Signi is standing around watching the passageway out.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "does that mean the continents are marked?"

GM says (to Prof), "There's also one more island off of Vodacce than there should be, and another island in the middle of the Mirror."

ProfesorJinquele stops the mechanism.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "what about other landmasses separate from theah? new world stuff?"

ProfesorJinquele points, "What is that island?"

Minico goes back to wandering down the next hall.

Dmitri follows down the hall.

GM says (to Prof), "Nothing. There's actually just a circle around the area where Theah is, with most of Theah picked out. The rest outside the circle is left blank. Half of Ussura and most of Cathay are cut off by the circle."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "any marks on any other globes?"

Signi is going with Minico.

GM says, "(uh, the passageway with the block, or the far end of this chamber?)"

[7thsea] Minico says, "let us know when dmitri and i reach the next room or something interesting"

[7thsea] Minico says, "and signi"

[7thsea] Minico says, "the passage we haven't been down yet"

GM says (to Prof), "big red spot on Re. But you already know that one. Otherwise, nothing."

ProfesorJinquele tries to extract the motor for later study.

GM says (to Minico&co), "The passage heads on for a bit. Then you come to a T-section. The right-hand passage leads towards daylight."

GM says, "the motor comes out easily prof"

ProfesorJinquele takes it and follows the others.

William goes with Minico as well

Minico says, "Let's look left. No sense in going outside until we're done inside."

Minico forges on, hoping his head will remain on his shoulders.

William follows along

GM says, "the left-hand passage eventually leads to a circular room filled with amber cases about seven feet long by two feet wide."

Minico goes to look at the cases.

GM says, "The entrance to this chamber is a little low, however. There's a thick metal sheet across the top of the entrance."

GM says (to Minico), "Most of the cases contain more suits of armour."

GM says (to William), "Let's have you make a Resolve check."

ProfesorJinquele ducks under the sheet and follows into the room, looking for any cases containing anything else.

GM says (to William), "TN 10"

Minico asks, "Is the armor the same kind as we found earlier?"

[7thsea] William asks, "mm i was just nervous about going along?"

GM says (to William), "You have an uncomfortable feeling about this room in the pit of your stomach. You'd prefer to run, but you hold your ground."

William says, "I have a bad feeling about this place..."

GM says (to Minico), "yes. Same kind."

Minico suddenly notices the sheet of metal.

William looks at what's holding up the sheet, if anything

Dmitri follows along, and looks at the metal over the doorway.

ProfesorJinquele asks, "Is anyone else experiencing any apprehension, or only William?"

Minico says, "Hm."

GM says, "Just William."

Minico says, "I'm not too pleased at the idea of this sheet."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "i wasn't asking you :) gm"

Minico says, "Let's keep our hands off things, perhaps."

ProfesorJinquele asks (of Willaim), "And you are the only one here who is native to Avalon?"

GM says, "grooves in the side of the entrance william"

Dmitri says, "There's something funny about suits in amber, but I'm fine."

William says, "yes profesor"

ProfesorJinquele says, "Interesting. There was a marking on one of the spheres, indicating Avalon. Perhaps there's a connection."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "what was in the cases that didn't contain armor?"

Minico goes back to looking at cases, his hands clasped behind his back.

GM says (to prof), "the other cases are empty."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "how many other cases?"

GM says (to prof), "oh, maybe ten or twelve."

[7thsea] (from Dmitri) GM says, "Um, there are how many of you again?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "darn. i was hoping we might be able to account for all the suits :)"

GM says (to prof), "You haven't seen all of them...."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "right but if the number of empty cases is only approximate"

Dmitri says, "Nothing useful in here."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "would there be any benefit to diagnosing william?"

GM says (to prof), "You don't have to see all of them."

GM says (to prof), "No."

Signi says, "well"

William goes out again as soon as Dmitri has said this

Signi follows William.

ProfesorJinquele just looks at the parts of the suits that were broken in the first two samples then, to see if there's anything they missed.

Signi asks, "perhaps the other passage?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "any other way out of here?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "(this room i mean?)"

GM says, "(You hear a terrible grinding sound from further up the passage."

ProfesorJinquele looks up.

[7thsea] GM says, "this room has just the one entrance"

Minico takes off on a dead run back up the passage.

Dmitri tries to get under the metal sheet, but doesn't touch it.

[7thsea] Signi asks, "which passage? the one leading to daylight?"

[7thsea] GM says, "(to signi) yes"

ProfesorJinquele follows Minico and the others.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "are they just going to the t or all the way back?"

Signi looks to see if it's getting any darker in that passage.

Dmitri exclaims, "Everyone out of the room!"

Minico says, "Porco Thio, porco Thio, porco Thio."

Minico says, "I knew this was a bad idea."

Guilliaume is standing at the end of the other end of the passage (where there's daylight).

Signi asks, "did you do this guilliame?"

GM says, "It is not getting darker."

ProfesorJinquele follows Guilliaume.

Guilliaume says, "Um, I just pulled this lever here."

[7thsea] Dmitri asks, "has everyone left the room with cases?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele has.

ProfesorJinquele looks for whatever is making the noise.

[7thsea] William says, "long since"

Signi frowns.

Signi walks over to look at the lever.

Dmitri follows up last.

Minico asks, "figlio di puttana, could you not keep your hands off things?"

Minico says, "Pardon, pardon, I am excited."

Guilliaume points to a lever at cave mouth. You can see now that this is the entrance that you saw from the beach, the one halfway up the cliff.

ProfesorJinquele looks out to see if anything's different.

GM says, "The lever just looks like a twisted amber staff sticking out of the wall."

GM says, "Well, there's a lot of shouting from one side, where the Vesten are camped. On the other side ... a huge circular opening has appeared in the cliff face. Judging by the position, it's probably the viewing room."

Signi sighs.

Dmitri says, "Oh my."

William says, "aha"

Signi starts running back to the cylinder.

Dmitri says, "This may be an opportunity to get some of the pirates out of the way."

Minico follows Signi, also at a dead run.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "can we see into the hole?"

William goes as well

[7thsea] GM says, "not from here. not much"

ProfesorJinquele follows too.

Dmitri says, "We might try to close the large opening behind them, and the big rock in front of them."

[7thsea] Signi says, "(the temptation to make 40-foot-high obscene gestures at them is great)"

GM says, "The three stooges that you left tied to the scaffolding are yelling and struggling as you run by."

Dmitri says, "Oy, wait."

[7thsea] Minico says, "stick your face in the bowl scrunch up your face and stick your tongue out then push the button"

Dmitri stays by the opening, and watches the scene below.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "where exactly is the hole?"

GM says, "The hole is in the western wall, overlooking the bay."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "at sea level far above it?"

GM says, "Quite a bit above sea level."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "and the inside of the hole is in the room where the stooges are tied up?"

Dmitri tries to guess how many Vesten have rushed into the hole.

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "i'm confused dmitri"

[7thsea] Signi says, "it's up above sea level"

GM says, "The hole overlooks the water ... the Vesten still probably couldn't reach it."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "how is anyone going to rush into the hole dmitri?"

[7thsea] Dmitri asks, "me too. what were they doing down there?"

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "oh okay"

GM says, "So people running to the cylinder get there..."

Signi says, "hmm"

Signi asks, "your hand again william?"

William says (to Signi), "Where would you like -- er."

Signi coughs.

William puts his hand in the bowl and presses the project button.

Minico says, "I must see how this turns out."

William shakes his fist dramatically

Minico returns to the projection room to watch things unfold.

Signi asks, "can we maneuver it out of the cave somehow?"

Signi asks, "is there a button to move the image as well as turning it?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "wait is the hole in the cylinder room or the scaffolding room?"

Minico hears Signi's question and shouts over his shoulder, "Try the other buttons!"

William says, "Let's see. There's Project, Turn, Shrink, Enlarge, Color, and OFf-- but that misses one"

[7thsea] GM says, "scaffolding"

William presses the button after Enlarge but before Color

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "ok then i didn't run to the cylinder i stayed with the scaffolding"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "does the scaffolding block the hole?"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "also weren't there two rotates william?"

GM says, "(er, okay, it's the final button that allows you to move stuff. Your hand 'slide smoothly out', remember?)"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says, "aha"

GM says, "(the scaffolding appears to have disappeared with that bit of wall.)"

William says, "oh i read that as "vanishes" gm"

William says, "okay"

William presses final button

ProfesorJinquele goes over near the hole to get a good view.

Minico stands by Profesor

GM says, "The image projected moves as William moves his hand."

GM says, "You hear running footsteps from the rectangular room, someone shouting 'Lars! Kolbyorn! Nils! What ... who are you??'"

William shakes his fist at the newcomer

Signi says, "excellent"

Minico exclaims, "PROSTRATE YOURSELF BEFORE THE ALMIGHTY FIST!"

Minico falls on the ground.

ProfesorJinquele has disconnected.

GM says, "(whoever it is, stops at the rectangular room and doesn't come as far as the viewing room, actually. The three stooges are really yelling their heads off."

William briefly turns the fist colors, then turns it back again, acknowledging Minico's humility.

Minico also loosens his sword, just in case.

Dmitri runs down toward the rectangle room to help.

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "(hey i know a guy named lars.)"

GM says (to Dmitri), "Guilliaume seems to have gotten himself into a spot of trouble. You can hear him at the far end trying to explain about the shipwreck."

[7thsea] Signi says, "larrrrs"

[7thsea] Signi says, "arrgh guilliaume"

Minico mutters, stands, and runs for the rectangular room.

[7thsea] Minico says, "i had so hoped they would come around the corner just then. grr guilliaume"

Dmitri walks up calmly, at least until he can see how many there are.

Guilliaume says (to ..so), "that's why we were wondering if you could help us out...."

Minico reaches Dmitri and joins him in his stroll.

GM says (to Dmitri), "There are maybe five of them. The apparent leader is a big, filthy-looking guy with a red beard."

Dmitri asks, "Hoy there. Are you the captain?"

Minico smiles disarmingly.

[7thsea] Minico asks, "or so i hope. do they drop their weapons?"

GM says, "redbeard looks up and snarls. 'What trickery is this??'"

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "hee"

[7thsea] Minico says, "must idle for a second"

GM says, "(the prof seems to have gotten booted....)"

[7thsea] Dmitri asks, "should we wait a bit or keep going?"

[7thsea] GM says, "could go on a bit"

[7thsea] Signi says, "ok"

[7thsea] Gunther asks, "is this a one-off?"

[7thsea] Signi says, "it has turned into a two-off but yes"

[7thsea] Gunther says, "hee hee"

Dmitri asks, "So what would it take to get passage with your proud Vesten crew?"

(From GM) Redbeard says, "I am Hagar the Horrible, and you are obviously not worth my time. (to others) Right, we know what's causing the mischief now....

[7thsea] Dmitri says, "hee"

Dmitri says, "How rude."

Dmitri draws his knife, and gets ready to defend himself.

GM says, "(Hagar, Guilliaume and others are quite a ways further up, at the other end of the room. Getting closer, you can see a rectangular block, about 4 feet high, with steps going up behind it to another exit.)"

Minico draws his sword completely free.

Minico mutters (to Dmitri), "They seem not too pleased to see us."

GM says, "(sitting on the block is a miniature version of the cylinder)"

GM says, "Hagar shoves Guilliaume at two of his men, who drag him up the steps."

GM says, "(initiative time)"

Dmitri stage-whispers (to Minico) "Who had that small ship last?"

ProfesorJinquele has connected.

Dmitri's eyes flare green, and he unbuttons his shirt.

GM says (to Minico), "They seem to be of a lesser quality than Larsy, Kolby & Nils."

[7thsea] William says, "my goodness dmitri"

GM says, "The Vesten ignore the bunny wabbit."

Minico says, "though I undoubtedly would have had him at my mercy shortly."

GM says, "William? oh, glamour ... just spend, auto success."

[7thsea] William says, "(hagar's status?)"

GM says, "Hagar appears to have received a crippling blow."

William turns Hagar's broadsword into a ripe, oozing wheel of prime-quality brie.

ProfesorJinquele asks, "thank you. is -- was this their captain minico?"

GM says (to rabbit), "The Vesten are tying Guilliaume to a tree. Most are hurriedly dragging camp stuff back onto the ship."

Minico says, "Yes."

[7thsea] Signi asks, "er and the other two brutes are still hanging around?"

GM asks, "Signi: just running into the fray?"

GM says, "Signi: the other two brutes are still here."

Signi takes a swing at one with her dagger.

rabbit hides somewhere near the tree until there are no Vesten watching Guilliaume.

GM says, "One of the brutes falls down."

GM says, "NEW ROUND"

rabbit hops out and stares at Guilliaume expectantly.

ProfesorJinquele realizes he's no longer usefully armed, and holds off until it's clearer what would be beneficial.

Guilliaume says, "Er... nice wabbit ..."

GM says, "Signi"

rabbit hops around to the back of the tree and puts his paws on the trunk. He seems to be trying to reach Guilliaume's hands.

Signi spins around to slash at the other brute.

rabbit bites into the rope, thinking how much easier it would be if Guilliaume would bend his knees a bit.

[Crows-Nest] (from rabbit) Guilliaume says, "Help! A rabbit is trying to eat me! Hee, that tickles."

[Crows-Nest] Signi says, "hee hee"

[Crows-Nest] Emily says, "ok"

[Crows-Nest] Minico laughs.

[Crows-Nest] Emily says, "i am not lagged but william is-- there we go"

William holds

GM says, "Five ... Hagar (philistine that he is) throws the brie at Minico."

Signi exclaims, "!!"

[Crows-Nest] William says, "aw what a waste"

[Crows-Nest] William says, "i thought minico wasn't that kind of gir-- heh"

[Crows-Nest] Minico exclaims, "mmm!"

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "minico has to spend an action eating it before he can keep fighting?"

GM says, "(okay ... it's 4 against 1, and the 1 is unarmed and crippled. He doesn't stand a chance. You overpower him easily from here.)"

Minico says, "Aw."

GM says, "(Minico gets to eat the cheese, though.)"

William inspects Hagar's helmet to see whether it is superior to the one he already has.

Minico says, "Excellent."

GM says (to William), "the horns are larger, yeah."

[7thsea] Signi says, "and you know what they say about guys with big horns"

Signi says, "now then"

GM says (to rabbit), "one last nibble ... the rope comes loose. Guilliaume looks surprised."

William swaps helmets discreetly

Guilliaume shrugs off the ropes and quickly slips around behind the tree.

[MUD switch]

Signi steps outside to reassess the situation out there.

[7thsea] Signi asks, "how many guys out there? and how done loading?"

ProfesorJinquele helps to make sure Hagar is tied up.

Minico follows Signi, holding his arm.

[7thsea] Miseri says, "halfway done loading. Guilliaume has apparently escaped ... from here you can see him hiding behind a tree with a rabbit."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks (of Minico), "Whose?"

ProfesorJinquele looks at the smaller column, trying it out with the ship.

William is busy polishing the horns of the new helmet.

Signi ties Hagar's hands and hobbles his legs.

(From Miseri) Hagar reluctantly leads you to where the old pirate captain is tied up.

Signi says (to Captain), "this is your lucky day"

Signi slashes his bonds with her knife.

[7thsea] Minico says, "Sorry, back now."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele asks, "You were busy eating brie?"

[7thsea] Minico asks, "So we're after the old Captain?"

Signi says (to Captain), "I believe that's your ship leaving"

(From Miseri) Captain says, "hrm. I am grateful. I shall remember your name always."

William says, "Perhaps you could remember us in the form of passage home."

[7thsea] ProfesorJinquele says (to Minico), "We got Hagar to show us where he was."

[7thsea] Minico says, "Excellent."

(From Miseri) Captain rubs his wrists and eyes Hagar balefully.

Minico says (to Captain), "And I would hear more about why the mutiny lead by that lout over there."

Signi says, "he can explain as we walk"

Minico says, "Certainly."

[7thsea] Minico says (to Prof), "Had to go get powdered sugar."

(From Miseri) Captain says, "that is agreeable. With the Horrible one here under our thumb, the crew will have to surrender.

ProfesorJinquele says, "On the voyage, perhaps a member of your entourage could share background about your ancient culture and traditional practices."

(From Miseri) Captain glances at Signi, then explains about the secret agreement with one of the Vodacce families.

Signi's face is grim.

Signi asks, "which one?"

rabbit starts to get impatient, and wriggles.some.

[7thsea] Minico says, "That's a very wrigglesome rabbit."

(From Miseri) Guilliaume sets the rabbit down.

(From Miseri) Captain names the Alberti family. (to Minico), "er, you are not an emissary of the Alberti?"

rabbit hops around and looks back the way they came from.

Minico says, "The Albertis, eh? No, no, I am not their emissary."

Minico says, "Far from it."

(From Miseri) Captain says, "I see...."

Minico asks, "Do you know of other Vesten ships that have made similar deals?"

(From Miseri) Captain grins and says, "Ah, that would be telling."

Minico says, "Indeed."

(From Miseri) Captain says, "And if you don't mind, I'd prefer to be away from here as quickly as possible.

Signi says, "I, too."

Minico says, "And I."

Signi says (to Guilliaume), "come on!"

Minico says (to rabbit), "and you, too."

[7thsea] rabbit says, "wait, you found us? I thought we were still slightly in trouble."

Miseri says, "You all troop down to the camp. The mutinous crew give in when they see the old captain free and Hagar tied up."

Minico says (to Signi, aside), "We should both talk to the Captain on this trip. There are things we both need to know, for the good of our countries."

Signi says (to Minico), "that would be a good idea"

(From Miseri) Captain says, "Come! I can give you safe passage to a spot just a few miles out from Kirk. From there, well, you shall have to make your own way.

ProfesorJinquele asks (of Signi), "Once we have been safely restored to the islands populated by civilization, can I make an arrangement with you to return to this place?"

Signi says (to Profesor), "possibly. I'll have to find a way to pay for a new boat somehow."

Miseri says, "As the sun slowly sets, you sail off back to safe harbours ..."

ProfesorJinquele says, "I'd like to continue to study these artifacts -- and this location appears likely to provide a solitude suitable for the variety of study in which I'd like to engage."

Signi says, "uh-huh"

ProfesorJinquele says, "Given the current academic atmosphere beginning to prevail in certain parts of Theah, regarding the differing theological perspectives brought in by the Inquisition..."

Minico says (to Signi and the Profesor), "Enjoy. I'm going to continue my vacation."

ProfesorJinquele says, "Hmm... I'll have to arrange for provisions for an extended occupation, as well as some sort of fortification of shelter... a means of periodic communication with the external community would also be beneficial..."

ProfesorJinquele goes off making plans, muttering to himself.

Minico says (to Profesor), "Which reminds me, should you need outfitting, I know a family that provides goods and services...."

Miseri says, "<THE END>"

Signi says, "yay!"

Minico exclaims, "woo!"

William claps

ProfesorJinquele says, "Yay"

ProfesorJinquele applauds.

Miseri bows

Minico says (to Miseri), "Well done."

Signi says, "and now to the other mud, for late musketeers in five minutes."

Sargent removes his robes.

Emily turns back into a girl

ProfesorJinquele asks, "No Q&A?"

Jota says (to Sarge), "Asking the GM stuff about what we didn't see."

pehcs asks (of Miseri), "Yeah, do you want to talk about your game?"

Jota says, "Or about how the other group(s) fared."

Sargent says, "Aha."

Miseri says, "heh. Sure...."

Jota says, "Like, did we actually need to do anything other than rescue the captain? :)"

pehcs says, "I'll assume it's not actually possible to escape on a Syrne aero-ship."

Miseri says, "Not really ... This is the third time I've done this, and the third different route I've seen."

Sargent asks (of Miseri), "Were any other merchants successful at their primary mission?"

Miseri says, "The first time, there was NO combat whatsoever. They found the portable projector, got a caterpillar, magnified it and scared off the campers."

Jota asks, "After scaring them off, were they stuck on the island?"

Miseri says (to Sargent), "Yes, actually ... I was wondering if you were going to shut the Vesten up when he started talking about the agreement."

Jota asks, "What mission was that?"

Miseri says (to Mutt), "No ... the had the caterpillar appear at the ship, so the campers scattered into the woods. Then they climbed aboard, discovered the loyal crew locked up in the brig and freed them."

Sargent says, "I was to try to get an agreement with some pirates for my family."

Jota says (to Jeff), "Ah, neat."

Sargent says (to Miseri), "Suddenly realized I might be able to do more by ruining other families and their connections than getting one of my own."

Jota asks (of Jeff), "Was there much to explore topside, if you didn't go down into the ruins?"

Miseri says (to Mutt), "Not really ... topside would be mostly dodging pirates and fighting."

Miseri says, "Second time I ran this, they never entered the caves through the "proper" entrance ... they just ignored the gully and crossed straight on to the camp."

Miseri says, "So they never found the projector. But they got into a LOT of combat."

Emily says, "the projector was way cool"

Sargent says, "yeah"

Sargent says, "Big hand gestures rule."

Jota asks, "Which one's proper?"

Emily says, "I could see that in IF."

Jota says, "Yes, the projector was excellent."

Miseri says (to Mutt), "Either one is good. But the explore-the-caves bit is the one I put more work into, so I like to see that."

Miseri says (to Mutt), "just this particular breed."
