[tomb] PerrySimm says, "Log on."
[Crows-Nest] * DM has joined the channel.
Grog has arrived.
[Crows-Nest] Rosie says, "Yay my mischannels will no longer go unnoticed ;-)"
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "Exactly!"
Eolo has arrived.
[tomb] Paulie asks (of DM), "I assume you got s2 from me, right?"
[tomb] DM asks, "s2?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "It's short for Stewart"
[tomb] Paulie says, "http://grunk.org/paulie-s2.txt -- I mentioned it when you were around, but maybe you didn't see."
[tomb] DM says, "Nope"
[tomb] DM says, "OK, I'll update the home page and see if my spreadsheet of stats needs to change"
[tomb] DM says, "posting to the #tomb bb is the best way to make sure I see stuff"
[tomb] Paulie says, "OK."
[tomb] Paulie says, "I don't think anything major changed except that Grog now has an extra option for weapons to use."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I did update my character page with the inheritance. The only item I got that affects anything permanently is the Elven Boots."
[tomb] Clem says, "He's going to swing Elgran's corpse around whenever he needs a blunt weapon."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "hee"
[tomb] DM says (to Paulie), "Remind me what parentheses mean for you"
[tomb] DM says, "Like Touch AC of 17 (18)"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Hmm, that's the opposite of my sheet, itsn't it? Sorry about that."
[tomb] Rosie says, "itsn't? isn't."
[tomb] DM says, "Yeah, everyone did it differently"
Clem finishes getting most of his armour on.
Clem says, "Hmm, not bad, since I started at 3am."
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Rosie), "to give you a heads-up, one of the combat options I had in mind was embiggening you and stacking on cat's grace for damage+to hit"
Ebezar says, "I find that armor distracts the mind from what is to come"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Parentheses are circumstance-related. That one is 18 versus traps."
Ebezar says, "Of course, this is why I tend to stay in the back."
Clem says, "I find it distracts nasty claws from my tender regions." [tspoil] nothings asks, "Can somebody add DM?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I based mine on Paulie's at first, I think, but then decided to be more consistent about the meaning of the brackets, then came up with a scheme I liked better. But at least I documented it on the sheet."
[tomb] Rosie says (to Ebezar), "Aha, cool."
Clem checks his sword for flaminess. [tspoil] Eolo says, "he's here"
Paulie says (to Ebezar), "Ye might want to try some of my armor on. Ye'd hardly know ye're wearing it." [tspoil] DM says, "Oh, I guess I'm here, ha ha"
[tspoil] nothings says, "jerk"
[tspoil] DM says, "I didn't know the channel name"
josh_g has arrived.
[tomb] DM asks, "OK, does anyone want to take over Finn?"
[tomb] DM says, "I think Roger gave permission"
Crumbly says, "You ought to try Mithral(tm). It just kind of slides on."
[tomb] Eolo says, "perhaps josh_g does"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Does he have a new familiar?" [tspoil] Eolo says, "oh, I guess he's here"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "and ALREADY SPOILED"
[tomb] DM says, "otherwise we could say Finn is out harvesting berries and stuff while you all go back in"
[tomb] Clem says, "If so, perhaps it could be coincidentally extremely similar to his previous familiar."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Meet the new familiar, same as the old familiar."
[tomb] DM says, "Yeah, his new familiar is Kong II"
[tomb] Eolo says, "Finn stayed outside to come in and pick up bodies later"
[tomb] Clem says, "Let's call him Kung."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "The second monarch in the Kong dynasty"
[tomb] DM asks, "Anyone?"
[tomb] Clem says, "I guess I could take Finn if nobody else wants to."
[tomb] DM says, "Sold!"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Anyone not playing, or could one of us do it?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "timing."
[tomb] Clem asks, "He'll just Barkskin everybody and then meekly do any dangerous thing we ask, rigbht?"
[tomb] DM says, "I was assuming a player would, since lots of other non-players have already been spoiled"
Ebezar says (to crumbly), "I know of other 'friends of boccob' who have worn mithril"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Gotcha."
[tomb] DM says, "All right then"
DM says, "Welcome back"
DM says, "to the Tomb"
(From Clem) Finn says, "Breakfast is up, everyone! Also I bought a flagon of finest mead in town, at my own expense. I hope that's okay."
DM says, "... of HORRORS!"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I know! We can all vote for every move that Finn makes! That should be fast."
DM | http://hamesucken.com/tomb/1.wav
Crumbly says, "Ugh, 'mithril'. That cheap knock-off. I only wear genuine brand-name Mithral(tm)."
[tomb] josh_g says, "oh hey, I wasn't paying attention"
[tomb] josh_g asks, "you need someone to take over a character?"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says (to DM), "yay"
[tomb] Clem says, "If you haven't read the scenario, sure."
[tomb] DM says (to josh_g), "You've been on the spoiler channel"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says (to Crumbly), "I cannot spell 'mithral'. At least I've learned to spell 'sorcerer'"
[tomb] josh_g says, "oh, right, and I did read some of the scenario"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "mostly"
[tomb] josh_g says, "nm"
Clem asks, "Hey, did somebody burst into maniacal laughter there?"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says (to DM), "hee hee"
Crumbly says, "So, let's talk plans. I think that, as we went to such effort and sacrifice to kill that gargoyle, it would be senseless to not take advantage of the fact that it's dead and exlpore the passages from its room."
Clem says, "Don't tell me I forgot to put on my buttock-guards again."
DM says, "For some reason Ebezar has joined you"
Clem says (to Crumbly), "That sounds like a good plan."
Ebezar says, "I have long been interested in the tomb. In fact, I feel as if my whole life has led to this one moment."
[Crows-Nest] nothings says (to DM), "hahaha"
Paulie says (to Crumbly), "Agreed."
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "ha ha"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "and your whole life will end in this moment"
[Crows-Nest] Rosie says (to Ebezar), "Hee hee"
Paulie says, "I'd still like to know what was hinted at being under those pits at some point, though."
Clem asks, "What, the pits in the corridor?"
Rosie says, "Yeah. But next, probably."
Crumbly says, "Yeah, it sounded like some of the pit traps have passages leading from them."
Clem says, "How about we check that whole corridor for more pit-traps, then read the whole inscription."
Ebezar says, "From what you have told me of your previous encounter, that sounds like a reasonable approach."
(From Clem) Finn says, "That's a great plan, Clem, more mead for you."
Crumbly says, "OK, we can do that. Hints are good."
[tomb] DM says, "Ha ha"
DM says, "All righty, let me see how far you got into the corridor last time"
[tomb] Clem says, "Finn seems to have 5 barkskins."
[tomb] Clem says, "And he has AC 29 so doesn't need one."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Old clues, once again, are at: http://www.henchmonkey.org/forum/discussion/43/"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Who wants bark?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Note: due to level loss, I will only be searching at 36 when I take tens now."
[tomb] Rosie says, "I would wait."
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "what's the AC bonus?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "bark 'em if you got 'em"
Paulie says, "Shall we vote, then? If we want to start with the gargoyle's chambers, say aye. If we want to start with the corridor, say arr."
Rosie exclaims, "Awry!"
Crumbly says, "I vote to finish the corridor inscriptions first."
Crumbly says, "Arr"
Clem says, "Corridorrrarrr."
Grog shrugs.
[tomb] Clem says, "+2 enhancement to AC."
Paulie says, "The arrrrrs have it."
[tomb] Clem says, "90 minutes."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "hm, and 90 minutes worth"
[tomb] Clem says, "No, hang on, +4."
[tomb] Eolo says, "natural enhancement bonus"
[tomb] DM says, "+4, yeah"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Specifically, to your 'natural armor', which stacks with armor."
[tomb] Eolo says, "er, natural armor bonus"
Paulie prepares by casting some mage armors on any PC in need of it. Which is presumably just Paulie and Ebezar.
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Paulie), "I should get the mage armor from you soon, since it'll last 9 hours and it's easier to do now than in combat."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "timing"
DM says, "All righty"
Ebezar says, "You have my thanks. Sadly I neglected that school of magic during my education"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Actually six, since I split my levels, but I don't think we need to worry about surviving that long."
Crumbly asks, "So, I'm going into the TOMB OF HORRORS. Any noticable changes?"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Okay, how does the Barkskin work out?"
Crumbly asks, "Like, are the pits all closed again or anything?"
Ebezar says, "mainly because I learned early on that fire is pretty."
DM says, "Crumbly walks in while everyone else is still dithering"
[tomb] Clem says, "I'm going to say Crumbly, Paulie, Rosie, Clem and Ebezar."
Rosie follows.
DM says, "The corridor seems untouched since you left it"
[tomb] DM says, "OK"
(From Clem) Finn casts Barkskin on Crumbly, Paulie, Rosie, Clem and Ebezar.
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Same marching order, s/Elgran/Ebezar/?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "works for me"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Remind me how it went?"
[tomb] DM says, "Crumbly in front, Elgran/Wolf, Finn/Kong, Paulie/Grog, Clem/Rosie"
Clem says, "Somebody suggested searching the pit traps."
[tomb] DM says, "was the old order"
[tomb] Paulie says, "'Crumbly, Ebezar, Finn, Kong, Paulie, Grog, Klem, Rosie', so maybe Ebezar should be moved back near Paulie/Grog."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "hm, yeah."
[tomb] Clem says, "How about either Rosie or me goes second."
[tomb] Clem says, "Rosie is fast, I'm hitpointy."
Rosie says, "I'm quick and can get to the front if need be."
[tomb] Clem says, "Or Grog, maybe."
[tomb] Clem says, "Yeah, how about Grog, since I have range spells I can use."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "good reflex save people in the front is also a good thing"
Ebezar asks, "I'll just be back here, then, yes?"
[tomb] DM says, "Someone propose an order and everyone else say 'OK'"
Clem keeps a careful lookout for anything with more than three arms.
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Mmm. I guess I can handle Grog being that far away if he can. So, 'Crumbly, Grog, Finn, Kong, Paulie, Ebezar, Klem, Rosie'?"
[tomb] Clem says, "OK"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I'm okay with anything where I'm in front, which I think is uncontroversial."
[tomb] Paulie says, "And if we get in a wide space, we'll pair up as listed, I suppose."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "'OK'"
Clem asks (of Ebezar), "So, how did you get into the were-lich scene?"
DM says, "OK, you all tiptoe around the pits and everything"
[tomb] Rosie says, "'ok'"
DM says, "and get to where you broke off earlier"
Ebezar says, "My father--but a moment, let me slide past this pit--was killed by one, according to the other adventurers with him."
Clem asks, "Oh, the others survived?"
Clem asks, "Or did they recount this with their dying breaths?"
Ebezar says, "No, they all survived. They were able to return with my father."
Ebezar says, "I had no idea were-liches favored stabbing people in the back repeatedly."
DM asks, "Is Crumbly searching for more traps or anything?"
Clem says, "Well, they're chaotic bitchy or something along those lines."
DM asks, "or are you just going to keep traipsing down the hall?"
Crumbly says, "I'm going to start searching for traps immediately past the last chalkmark."
[Crows-Nest] nothings says (to Ebezar), "heehee"
DM says, "More runes:"
Crumbly says, "The last couple of pits we marked in chalk, IIRC."
DM says, "These keys and those are most important of all, and beware of trembling hands and what will maul."
Clem casts Light on another piece of chalk, because that was pretty cool last time.
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "Someone copying that?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "adding to the bb"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I can be in charge of posting if you like."
[tomb] Clem says, "This Light also lasts 90 minutes, so when the chalk goes out we lose our +4 armour bonuses."
DM says, "A little further, Crumbly finds another pit, right in the middle of the runed path"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Eb, you doing that?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "done"
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Clem), "oh, clever"
DM says, "More runes:"
DM says, "If you find the false you find the true, and into the columned hall you'll come, and there the throne that's key and keyed."
[tomb] Clem says (to Ebezar), "It's great for magical graffiti also."
DM says, "By the way, now you're far enough down the corridor that you can see the end of it"
Clem says, "Key and keyed? Hrm."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Any more doors/door-like-things along the way?"
[tomb] DM says (to Rosie), "Nope, just more of the usual frescoes"
Paulie says, "Wonder if Acererak got bored waiting around for someone to get far enough for him to kill 'em personally."
Crumbly says, "I can only assume that these will make sense when we find the things they're referring to.,"
Crumbly asks, "So, no more runes?"
DM says (to Crumbly), "Yeah, there are more runes, but first I'm describing the end of the corridor"
Crumbly says, "OK"
DM | http://hamesucken.com/tomb/6.jpg
Ebezar says, "He seems to enjoy sprinkling clues about"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 asks, "what kind of character is Ebezar?"
DM says, "is in the middle of the wall at end of the corridor"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "wizard"
Crumbly says, "My, what a big mouth you have."
DM says, "and on the left hand wall at the end of the corridor is this:"
DM | http://hamesucken.com/tomb/5.jpg
[tomb] Clem says, "It does seem like a good plan for the person standing closest to that mouth to have a good Reflex save."
DM says, "The runed path forks at the end, with paths leading to both of them"
DM says, "Now, to continue with the runes"
DM says, "Oops, first another pit in the middle of the path, which Crumbly marks"
DM says, "Runes: The iron men of visage grim do more than meets the viewer's eye."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Hey, this is the classic, "Go ahead--stick your hand in the hole!""
DM says, "and the final set, just before the path forks:"
DM says, "You've left and left and found my Tomb and now your soul will die."
DM | http://hamesucken.com/tomb/1.wav
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "well, iron men clearly refers to transformers"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "hee"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "and hee again"
Paulie asks, "Golems?"
Crumbly says, "Those lefts sound like directions rather than verbs."
DM says, "OK, let me give you a couple of text dumps, since you've earned them!"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "I had no idea what a multimedia production the tomb was" [tspoil] nothings asks, "Did they change the clues in the new version to be more useful?"
DM says, "A section of the red tile path leads into a mist-filled stone archway. Three large stones are embedded in the arch. Each has a different hue -- yellow on the lower left, bluish at the top of the arch, and orange on the lower right." [tspoil] DM says, "I don't think so"
DM says, "A fork of the red tile path leads directly to a leering devil face set in the mosaic at the corridor's end. The devil's mouth gapes wide and empty -- in fact it is dead black, emitting no hint of light and allowing none entry." [tspoil] Eolo asks, "wait, the old module had clues too?"
[tspoil] DM says, "Sure"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "I figured it was just the new guys going soft"
[tspoil] nothings says, "yeah, I have no memory of the clues, which is why I asked"
[tspoil] josh_g says, "probably your DM just failed to mention them"
DM says, "There are no other doors or doorways or anything" [tspoil] josh_g says, "oops!"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "hee hee"
Clem asks, "Do we want to backtrack and search the gargoyle room now?"
Crumbly says, "Colors. We've got clues about colors." [tspoil] nothings says, "nah, I own the module myself. it's just been a long time"
Rosie says, "I think so." [tspoil] K-Y says, "If this is soft, man"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "ha ha ha"
Crumbly says, "Yeah"
Ebezar says, "What I recall of your prior clues, there was reference to avoiding green but seeking night's good color"
Crumbly says, "We might want to check the pits."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Oh, hmm. Did Crumbly ever cast Diviniation or whatever?"
Ebezar says, "I wonder if the author of the clues had darkvision or not."
Rosie says, "Ah, right."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Crumbly is not a spellcaster."
[tomb] DM says, "Clem never did"
[tomb] DM says, "His intelligence is only 10"
Paulie says (to Ebezar), "Every sailor knows that ye want a red sky at night."
Ebezar says, "I traveled on a boat once."
Rosie floats over the last pit, leans down and punches it to open it.
Ebezar says, "I, well, spent the entire time belowdecks."
DM says, "It's your standard spiked pit trap" [tspoil] nothings says, "I love this 'I'm just going to take action without warning anybody else'"
[tomb] Ebezar asks (of Rosie), "float?"
DM says, "10' deep" [tspoil] DM says, "It's the only way that anything ever happens"
[tspoil] nothings says, "although I think it was Elgran who was doing it last time"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Ten gp a dozen at Home Dungeon."
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Yay." [tspoil] josh_g says, "yeah, asking for consensus takes forever"
[tspoil] nothings says, "well, it's the 'without warning' bit... I'm going to prod this switch from 10' away with this pole, I don't care that there are people standing closer"
[tomb] Clem says, "I never did, sorry." [tspoil] josh_g says, "especially over the mud"
[tomb] Ebezar asks (of DM), "oh, hey, mind if I go ahead and cast my false life spell?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Although I still have it handy now."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "(1d10+9 extra hp for 9 hrs)" [tspoil] josh_g says, "oh that's true"
[tomb] DM says, "Hey, cool"
Crumbly says, "The clue about the 'fortuitous fall' said to check the wall. The passage may be hidden."
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "I'm going to keep listening to this wav file during the session when it seems appropriate"
[tomb] DM says, "Go for it"
[tomb] Clem says, "I can cast it any time we need to choose between two equally-bad-looking doorways or whatever."
Ebezar rolls 1d10+9: 9+9 | 18
Crumbly says, "But I don't think we've found anything fortuitous-looking."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "hee hee"
[tomb] Rosie says, "(I have boots of levitation)"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "the media player I get for WAVs on the net defaults to looping"
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Rosie), "aha"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "ha ha"
Clem looks closely at the first pit.
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "and I had it covered over and didn't realize it was the player, not the wav"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "ha ha"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Heh."
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "hee"
DM asks (of Clem), "The first one, like back at the beginning?"
Clem says, "I guess."
Clem says, "I'm right at the back of the group anyway."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "hate the wav, not the playa"
Crumbly says, "If we really want to pursure this avenue, I should climb down into the pits and search them."
DM says, "The first pit is the one that Elgran triggered beneath Crumbly"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "ha ha ha"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says (to Ebezar), "nice roll... looks like you're moving to the front lines!"
Clem says (to Crumbly), "Yeah, good idea."
DM says, "And it's your standard spiked pit trap"
Paulie says, "Ah, Elgran, that old joker."
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says (to nothings), "ha"
DM says, "You could roll for search"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "hee hee"
Rosie searches the final pit's walls, levitating over the spikes.
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 plays the wav again
Clem rolls search for 1d20 for: 1 | 1
Crumbly says, "Pff."
Clem says, "Yup, this looks like your standard 10' pit trap."
Rosie rolls search for d20+1: 1 | 1
Crumbly says, "Give me those boots."
Rosie rolls search for 1d20+1: 1 | 1
[tomb] Rosie says, "er."
Clem says, "Hang on."
[tomb] Paulie asks (of Rosie), "Uh. WHa?"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "er"
[Crows-Nest] (from josh_g) Clem says, "Why, I just had one of these installed in my backyard."
[tomb] DM says, "The syntax might be the other way around"
Rosie rolls 1d20+1: 10+1 | 11
Clem rolls 1d20 for search: 20 | 20
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "roll for save against sucky rolls"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "roll 1d20"
Crumbly rolls 1d20: 20 | 20
Crumbly rolls 1d20: 7 | 7
Crumbly rolls 1d20: 7 | 7
Crumbly rolls 1d20: 14 | 14
Crumbly rolls 1d20: 15 | 15
DM asks (of Crumbly), "What are these?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Aha, I had tried 'roll 1d20 search'"
Crumbly rolls 1d20+5: 5+5 | 10
Clem says, "I think he's just checking the dice."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Looks to me like the dice are working."
DM says, "Neither Rosie nor Clem finds anything interesting"
Crumbly says, "Yeah."
Clem says, "Hey you guys, I found a pit!"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "ha ha"
Paulie asks, "What about the ones we left closed?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "If I were searching, I'd just be taking tens."
Crumbly asks, "There's, what, two like that?"
Rosie checks the next few, going back up the corridor and opening them if need be.
Clem says, "'Two pits along the way will be found to lead to a fortuitous fall, so check the wall'."
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 5+1 | 6
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 18+1 | 19
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 14+1 | 15
DM says, "There are a total of six, including the one that Elgran opened"
Clem says, "That either means two separate pits, or like the second pit." [tspoil] DM says, "Of course that clue refers to a later section of the tomb"
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 15+1 | 16
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 8+1 | 9
[tomb] Rosie says, "There, all six." [tspoil] Eolo says, "1.wav"
DM says, "Rosie sees nothing special" [tspoil] nothings says, "heh"
[tomb] Rosie says, "My 19 was for the third-from-the-end." [tspoil] nothings says, "ok, muting"
[tomb] Rosie says, "(they are all now open)"
Crumbly says, "OK. Maybe it's talking about some other pits."
Clem asks (of Crumbly), "Do you want to get down there and check the wall, like it says?"
Clem says, "Or maybe it means the wall of the corridor."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Er, someone with a better Search roll should search." [tspoil] DM asks, "Is it just me, or did Crumbly never check them?"
[tomb] Paulie says, "I think I'd be more comfortable if Crumbly did a search."
[tomb] Paulie says, "Timing."
Ebezar says, "It perhaps refers merely to staying against the wall to avoid a precipitous and spiked drop"
Rosie says, "I didn't find anything, but it was kind of cursory."
Crumbly says, "OK, someone hold this rope."
Clem holds the rope.
[tomb] Paulie says, "Someone who can hit DC 20 without, say, trying very hard."
Grog holds the rope too.
Clem asks (of Grog), "Hey, don't you trust me?"
Crumbly searches each pit in turn, taking 10 for 36.
DM says, "It takes a while, but you go through all the pits"
Clem watches his chalk slowly getting dimmer...
Grog looks hurt. "Grog just try to help."
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "I will never see someone take 10 on searching without thinking of Halley in that OOTS strip"
Crumbly says, "Um, I may have to make climb checks too."
Crumbly says, "In order to not fall."
DM says, "I figure you're okay with the rope"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "heh yeah"
Crumbly says, "I take tens on those as well, for 16."
DM says, "But thanks for volunteering to"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Hanging upside down from a rope probably does not lessen the similarities."
DM says, "The last pit actually has something interesting on the west wall"
Clem says, "Oho!"
DM says, "Maybe some sort of a door, but it doesn't open from this side"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "the 'go back to the tormentor or through the arch' clue seems to indicate the fork where we just were"
Clem says, "So, the pit at entirely the opposite end of the corridor from where I am." [tspoil] josh_g asks, "wasn't there some goodies in the first pit?"
DM says, "The farthest end (at the south)"
[tomb] Clem says, "I wonder what the tormentor is." [tspoil] DM says, "Only if you are using the extra book"
Crumbly says, "Posible interpretation: the 'two pits along the way' are this one and another one in some other corridor that jons with this one"
[tomb] Paulie says, "dfan, I presume." [tspoil] josh_g says, "oh, okay"
Crumbly says, "providing an escape route"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "there is something comforting and homey about these old-school pen drawnigs"
[tomb] Clem says, "Ha."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "I was thinking it was the devil face"
Crumbly says, "Let's go back to the gargoyle room now"
Clem says, "Okay, so, looks like we go through the misty doorway, or the weird black mouth thing, or back to where the gargoyle was."
Clem says, "I say -- gargoyle, yeah."
Rosie exclaims, "Gargoyle!"
Ebezar says, "More exploration of the gargoyle room might provide more direction."
Paulie says, "Aye, gargoyle."
Clem says, "If there are two or three more of those bad boys in there, I'd like to know now."
DM says, "OK, you backtrack north to the hallway to the west that you had uncovered"
Crumbly says, "I did see at least one passage out of it before I died."
[Crows-Nest] (from Rob_2) Ebezar says, "also this sound effect. my grandpappy used to laugh like that"
DM says, "and into the gargoyle room"
Clem says, "Yeah, I remember you croaking that in your last few seconds on this mortal coil."
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "Ha ha ha ha"
DM says, "The room is 30' wide by 20' deep as you enter from the east"
Clem asks (of Crumbly), "Hey, want to search this little linking corridor first?"
DM says, "And there are in fact two doors"
Clem says, "The corridor with all the bloodstains on the floor."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Is anyone drawing an official-ish map?"
DM says, "One is in the south wall, and one is in the east wall, south of the door you entered by"
[tomb] Clem says, "That is a good plan."
Crumbly says, "I search them both for traps, taking ten for 36."
DM says, "Also there is a dead mutant four-armed gargoyle"
Crumbly says, "I kick it."
DM says, "No traps on the doors"
Clem says, "Quick, save against stubbing."
DM says, "The contractors must have fallen down on the job"
[Crows-Nest] nothings asks, "remind me, did they enter the whole place from the north or the south?"
Ebezar says, "What an interesting specimen. I have never seen such a creature."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Do gargoyles have ears?"
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "North"
Crumbly says, "I listen at each door, taking ten for 26."
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "oh ok"
DM says, "You hear this:"
Clem says (to Ebezar), "It was peppier before we hacked it to death."
DM | http://hamesucken.com/tomb/1.wav
DM says, "OK, maybe not"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "heehee"
Ebezar prods it gently.
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "my mental model was inverted"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Yay."
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar exclaims, "ha!"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "like I thought what he just said was west was on the right"
DM says, "You hear nothing"
Grog cuts off a piece of the gargoyle while the searching is going on. Probably an ear.
Crumbly asks, "They check oky, guys. Any preferences?"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says (to Rob), "so was mine, except he kept having all this stuff to the south, so it seemed pretty likely I had it backwards"
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "west is on the right, they entered from the north, heading south"
Rosie says, "East, back towards the corridor."
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "so who's taking the mapping task?"
Clem says, "Works for me."
Rosie says, "Most likely to be a closet."
Paulie says, "Sure."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Anyone have grid paper on hand?"
Crumbly says, "OK. Stand back. I am going to open the door."
[tomb] Clem says, "It would be kind of a hassle on this laptop."
Grog gets ready to attack anything behind the door.
Ebezar tries to cower in a non-cowardly way.
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "a little move I call the cower of power"
Crumbly opens east door
[tomb] Rosie search search search
DM says, "The door opens into a 10' by 10' room!!"
[tomb] Crumbly has graph paper
DM says, "This small chamber is empty of scent, stain, or decor. Only the dense layer of dust reveals the uncounted years since any moved through this chamber since the present."
Clem says, "Awesome, an evil closet."
[tomb] Clem asks, "Shouldn't that be 'until the present'?"
Crumbly says, "I search it."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Ah, found some. Shall I?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "sure"
[tomb] Clem says, "Why don't you both do it."
Crumbly says, "36"
[tomb] Clem says, "And then we can compare afterwards."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Sure"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Yeah, that sounds good."
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "in a comp game it would have said 'Non-Descript Room. There's nothing much to see here. An exit leads west.'"
DM says, "As Crumbly is walking around in there, an arrow comes out of nowhere and stabs him in the thigh"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Heh."
DM says, "3 damage"
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "The corridor leading to the gargoyle was 20', right? How long was the rune corridor?"
Crumbly says, "ow"
Ebezar says, "My goodness"
Clem says, "Holy crap! Wait, I mean, blasphemous crap!"
Paulie says, "Yarr."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Aw, man. I'm the one with Deflect Arrows."
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "dude look out"
DM says, "That's distracting enough that I'm going to make you actually roll your search check"
DM says, "rather than just taking 10"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Clearly, reflex saves are not all they're made out to be."
Crumbly says, "OK"
Crumbly rolls 1d20+26: 10+26 | 36
Crumbly says, "ha"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "haha"
[tomb] Rosie laughs.
[tomb] Clem says, "Heh, not an easy guy to distract."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "The main corridor was 10' wide?"
DM says, "There's a secret door in the south wall"
[tomb] DM says, "The big corridor was 20' wide"
Crumbly asks, "Can I take tens again yet?"
DM says, "Sure"
Clem says (to Crumbly), "Okay, hold on a moment, let me cure that arrow wound."
Crumbly listens at secret door for 26
Clem uses charge 1 of 50 from his cure light wounds wand.
DM says, "Oops, another arrow flies out of nowhere and hits Crumbly"
DM says, "8 damage"
DM says, "You don't hear anything"
[tomb] Clem says, "You'd think I'd have noted down how many HP this wand cures."
Crumbly bah
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "oh no, you cured it while the arrow was still in the leg"
Crumbly gets out of the room
Paulie says, "Maybe ye should check that area for traps."
[tomb] Eolo says, "1d8+1, I believe"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I'm down 11 now."
Clem asks (of DM), "Should I roll for cure now?"
DM says, "Sure"
Rosie enters the room with Crumbly, and readies herself to intercept arrows.
Clem rolls 1d8+1: 6+1 | 7
DM says, "Crumbly left"
[tomb] Rosie says, "A bit late, but still."
[tomb] Clem says, "I'll let you decide if that was before or after the second arrow."
[tomb] DM says, "It was after, that's fine"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Can we tell where the arrows were coming from?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "'Nowhere'"
[tomb] DM says, "Well, it's hard to tell without poking your head in"
[tomb] nothings says (to DM), "You will go down in history as the nicest DM ever to deliver a TPK."
[tomb] DM says, "but they seemed to be from different areas of the room"
Rosie asks (of Crumbly), "Is the door ready to open?"
[tomb] DM says, "and you don't see any obvious places for arrows to be coming from"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Hmm, is this worth a detect magic?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I doubt it."
[tomb] Clem asks, "Or is it just one of those things?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "They're fairly wimpy arrows."
DM says, "Rosie gets hit by an arrow"
Crumbly says, "I nominate the monk for going in there and looking for arrow sources."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "it's mechanistic, I'd bet"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I have deflect arrows"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "perhaps there are tell-tale stirrings of dust"
[tomb] DM says, "Oho, explain that to me"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "she can knock the arrow off-course and into crumbly"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I can catch one arrow/round that would have hit me."
[tomb] Eolo says, "you can automatically deflect one arrow a round"
[tomb] josh_g says (to Ebezar), "ha ha ha"
[tomb] DM says, "Sweet"
[tomb] Paulie says, "I wonder if I should detect poison."
[tomb] Clem asks, "Automatically automatically?"
DM says, "Wait, it missed her!!"
Clem says (to Rosie), "Quick, throw that arrow out here!"
[tomb] Paulie says, "(On Crumbly, or on an arrow, or whatever.)"
Clem says, "Er, without hitting anyone." [tspoil] DM says, "Well, that makes this whole section a little pointless"
[tspoil] DM says, "But it was mostly just annoying anyway"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "hee hee" [tspoil] Eolo says, "I don't think you can actually deflect arrows on other people"
[tspoil] DM says, "Right, but she can just go through the whole section herself opening doors"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "but I guess she can trigger all thr traps"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "yeah"
[Crows-Nest] (from Rob_2) DM says, "Ok, Rosie throws the arrow. It hits Crumbly for 8 damage."
Rosie tosses the arrow out of the room.
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "man, crumbly-seeking arrows"
DM says, "Another arrow whizzes by Rosie"
Clem examines it with, er, which skill would that be?
DM says, "(this one would have missed even without her special ability)"
Crumbly says, "Craft: Fletching"
DM says (to Crumbly), "EW"
Ebezar says, "Perhaps this room has more arrows than we care to count"
DM says, "Oh, fletching"
Rosie says, "Hmm, I'm getting the sense that these arrows are fairly continuous."
Clem says, "It looks like you could deflect them all day, though."
Rosie watches the walls to see if she can tell where they're coming from.
Paulie asks, "While our spells slowly ran out?"
Crumbly asks, "Rosie, Do you get any idea where they're coming from?"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "this is like that part in the buffy musical where buffy is knocking thrown weapons aside"
Clem asks (of Crumbly), "Did you say you found a door?"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says (to DM), "ha ha ha"
Crumbly says, "Yeah, in the south wall."
Paulie asks, "Mind if I see that arrow?"
Crumbly says, "Dunno how to open it"
Rosie says, "Maybe I'll just open that door."
DM says, "Another one flies out of nowhere but Rosie instinctively ducks"
[tomb] Clem says, "Hey you guys, I'm pretty sure this is an arrow."
[tomb] Clem says, "Yup, that's what this is here."
DM says, "It really seems to be out of a random spot each time"
Rosie says, "Maybe it is magic."
DM says, "and it's almost as if it's less likely to come from a spot if you're looking at it"
Paulie casts detect poison at the arrow.
Rosie looks to try to figure out how to open the door.
Crumbly says, "Could be a spell of some sort. Could be an invisible goblin with a bow."
Clem casts another cure light on Crumbly from his wand, why not.
Clem rolls 1d8+1: 1+1 | 2
Crumbly asks, "What if two people go in and stand back to back?"
Clem says, "An arrow through each ear, that's what."
DM says (to Rosie), "Hmm, it's not obvious"
Rosie says, "Let's just figure out how to get through here."
[tomb] Paulie says, "After detecting poison finishes, I'll be happy to try detecting magic."
Ebezar says, "I can try a simple cantrip on the door."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Can I roll something?"
Crumbly says, "There is another door if we get tired of this."
DM says, "Let's just take it as implicit from now on that Rosie is ducking or weaving every few seconds"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Although I'm not sure if that's likely to do anything more than say 'yup, the whole room's a magic trap'."
Ebezar says, "In fact, I can cantrip it without exposing myself to arrows."
[tomb] DM says (to Rosie), "To figure out how to open it? Nah, just tell me what you want to try if you want to try something"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Oh, OK."
Rosie taps the south wall and feels around for irregularities.
[tomb] Rosie says, "and after that, the other walls."
[tomb] Ebezar asks (of DM), "how heavy does the door look?"
DM says, "It's your standard stone wall with your standard stone secret door that looks just like a wall in the middle of it"
DM says, "The other walls are normal too"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Is there some way we could shield Crumbly while he's searching?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Like cover him with shields."
Rosie checks the floor and ceiling, too.
DM says, "except for the arrows occasionally coming out of them"
[tomb] Paulie asks (of Rosie), "How about just pushing the door?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "hm, if it's heavier than 30#, the spell's no good"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Or a Deflect Arrows spell, say"
DM says, "Floors and ceilings too"
Rosie pushes on the door.
[tomb] Paulie asks (of DM), "So, any result to the detecting of poison?"
[tomb] DM says (to Ebezar), "It looks like the rest of the wall"
[tomb] DM says, "No poison on the arrow"
DM says, "It doesn't give"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "If there had been poison, I'd have been asked to make a saving throw."
[tomb] Paulie says (to Crumbly), "Or it'd have been made for you."
DM says, "I mean, it feels a little like it should be able to move somehow"
Clem says, "I'd like to ponder a bit and try to figure out what spell might be creating these arrows, which is presumably Spellcraft."
Clem rolls 1d20+6: 14+6 | 20
Crumbly says, "Do we have anyone really strong? Sometimes you can just break secret doors down."
Ebezar says, "Oh, interesting; if that's allowed, I'd like to do the same."
DM says, "But pushing it doesn't *whoosh* help"
Clem says, "We have Grog."
[tomb] Paulie says, "So, if people want, I'm happy to use either Detect Magic to look for the trap trigger or whatever, or do use Mage Hand to fiddle with the door."
Grog says, "Grog strong."
DM says (to Clem), "It's magic"
Rosie hooks a caltrop into a crack in the door and tries to pull.
Clem says, "I say Grog goes in there and smashes the door in and I heal him afterwards if necessary."
Clem says (to Grog), "If that's okay with you."
DM says (to Rosie), "Hmm, it seems to wiggle a little"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "if this takes too long we won't be able to reach the door through all of the arrows piled in the closet"
Grog smash puny door.
DM says, "Not so much out towards you but downwards, when you pull"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "With the crowbar, I suppose. Straight STR check?"
Rosie tries pulling down on the caltrop/crack.
DM says, "The door slides down into the floor"
Rosie exclaims, "Wa-hey!"
DM says, "exposing another 10' by 10' room to the south"
Clem says, "Wow, nice work."
Grog is disappointed that he didn't get to smash.
DM says, "Another arrow whizzes by Rosie as if in appreciation"
Rosie peers into the next room.
[tomb] Clem says, "It's almost like this scenario was written before you could open secret doors just by rolling a d20."
DM says, "It looks just like the first one"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "I'm imagining this now like a Nethack arrow trap." [tspoil] DM says, "Ha ha, Crumbly will have to dash in to detect the secret door"
Rosie says, "Well, hey."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I'm not sure you can do that nowadays either, if you actually go by the rules."
Rosie enters.
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Which are hugely useful if you're running low on arrows and are good at dodging."
Clem says, "Either this room also has magic arrows in which case we should send Rosie in, or it has some other horrible trap in which case we should send Crumbly."
DM says, "An arrow flies up from the corner of the room and Rosie ducks just in time"
Clem asks (of DM), "Hey, are these arrows vanishing or anything?"
DM says, "Nope, the arrows are piling up"
DM says, "You guys can still see her"
[tomb] Eolo says, "too bad Elgran isn't around to pocket them"
[tomb] Clem says, "We could just start an arrow manufacturing business here."
[tomb] Eolo says, "or quiver them or whatever"
Rosie searches the next room.
[tomb] Clem says, "I was thinking we could sell them."
[tomb] Paulie says, "Grog has the bow now, actually."
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 8+1 | 9
[tomb] Paulie says, "But it's already got a big pile of arrows."
[tomb] Clem asks, "An arrow is what, 1sp?"
[tomb] Clem says, "1sp per round."
DM says (to Rosie), "You don't notice anything in particular"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "save them to buy diamonds for resurrection"
[tomb] Clem says, "So that's, uh, a few hundred gp a day."
DM says, "Another arrow whizzes by, &c"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "100,000 arrows for one res, right?"
[tomb] DM says, "Ha ha ha"
Rosie says, "Crumbly, you want to help find the secret door in here? I can try to attract the arrows."
[tomb] nothings says, "heehee"
Crumbly asks, "She gets arrows in the second room too?"
DM says (to Crumbly), "Yes"
[tomb] Clem pockets any arrows that are close enough to the safe room to pick up safely.
Crumbly says, "Bah, I want to try the other door."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Man, this Feat is tailor-made for these rooms."
[tomb] DM says, "Yeah :("
[tomb] Ebezar says, "ha ha aw"
Clem says, "Yeah, let's try the other door first."
Crumbly says, "I'm going to open the southern door of the gargoyle room now."
Crumbly says, "Brace yourselves."
Clem says, "If we need to go through the arrow rooms, let's just all go through and I can heal us up afterwards."
Crumbly flings it wide
DM says (to Crumbly), "Behind the door is a 10' by 10' room"
DM says, "with a door on the opposite (south) side"
[tomb] Clem says, "Mutant four-armed 10'x10' room."
Crumbly asks, "Hm. The southern wall of the gargoyle room is 20' wide, right? And the door was in the center?"
DM says, "This door was at the eastern end of the south wall"
Crumbly says, "OK"
[tomb] Paulie says, "It seems there ought to be some way to fit a 'forewarned' joke in there someplace."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Can I search again and/or take 10/20?"
DM says, "The door Rosie went through is at the south end of the east wall"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I don't think you can do that while being distracted by arrow-deflection."
[tomb] DM says, "Yeah, you can't take 10"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Can he take maybe 8?"
Crumbly says, "OK. I'm going into the room to the south."
[tomb] Rosie says, "I'll do that for 11."
Crumbly asks, "What happens to me?"
DM says (to Crumbly), "Nothing!"
Crumbly exclaims, "No!"
DM says, "By which I mean, you have been vaporized into nothing"
Crumbly says, "I search the door, taking ten for 36."
DM says, "Seriously, it's just a 10' by 10' room with a door at the opposite end"
DM says (to Crumbly), "Normal door"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Quick, everyone inhale some of the vapor. We need those remains to raise him."
Clem says, "And a visp of vapour that used to be Crumbly."
Clem says, "visp? wisp."
Crumbly says, "Listen, 26"
DM says, "You hear nothing"
Crumbly says, "Open"
Grog says, "Quiet place."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Nothing found, I guess?"
DM says, "but the faint sounds of arrows flying through the air and hitting walls"
[tomb] DM asks, "what did 'for 11' mean?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "It means I have +1, so if I take 10, I get 11."
DM says (to Crumbly), "It opens into an empty 10' by 10' room"
[tomb] DM says, "You can't take 10"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "But you can't take 10 while distracted."
DM says, "With a door on the right (west) wall"
[tomb] Rosie says, "*smack*"
[tomb] nothings says, "'Yeah' meant 'no'"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Misread."
[tomb] DM says, "Yeah was agreeing with Crumbly, yeah"
[tomb] Paulie asks (of Crumbly), "Did you search for other doors in that room?"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Can I just try again?"
[tomb] DM says (to Rosie), "Sure"
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 8+1 | 9
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 17+1 | 18
DM says (to Rosie), "You figure there's got to be something there, but nope, you can't see it"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "You can probably take 20, considering that that just means doing it over and over again. It'll take 20 minutes, though."
Rosie says, "Cruuuuuumblyyyyyyyy..."
[tomb] Clem says, "We'll all be debarked by the time you're done."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Oh, if you insist. I'll go back to the east door and trust Rosie to protect me."
[tomb] Clem readies his wand again.
Rosie shadows Crumbly, trying to be the one the arrows fire at.
DM says, "Crumbly sprints through the first room just after an arrow fires"
DM says, "As he enters the second room, one fires in that room, but it's aimed at Rosie and misses her"
Crumbly says, "OK, I search the south and east walls of the southern room (since we know wat's west of there). I guess I should roll."
DM says, "Yep"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "you can sprint around the sides of the room going 'eeeeeeee' as you search"
Crumbly rolls 1d20+26: 10+26 | 36
DM says, "There's a secret door in the south wall"
Rosie says, "There it is! OK, I'll try to figure out how to open it."
Rosie follows Crumbly out to be an arrow-magnet in the first room, then returns.
[tomb] Paulie asks, "How long was the corridor leading from the main corridor to the gargoyle room?"
DM asks, "Oh, were you going to search the east wall?"
Crumbly says, "Yeah"
Crumbly rolls 1d20+26: 4+26 | 30
[tomb] DM says, "20', then a door, then another 10' before the room"
DM says, "You don't notice anything in the east wall, but meanwhile another arrow fires"
DM says, "...at Rosie"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Hmm. So we've still got a door back there that we've ignored? Was it on the north wall?"
[tomb] DM says, "I mean the door to the gargoyle room"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Officially, each 5' area is a full-round action. I figure I'm searching five feet in the middle of each 10' wall."
[tomb] DM says, "OK, good"
[tomb] DM says, "Since I'm checking for arrows every round"
Crumbly says, "I'm staying in here as long as rosie's here. I guess I'll fiddle with the door do give her a better chance to deflect."
Crumbly says, "So, I try to slide it down." [tspoil] nothings asks, "arrows are firing even in the unoccupied rooms on the east path?"
DM says, "No luck" [tspoil] DM says, "Oh, I guess not"
DM says, "Another arrow fires"
DM says, "at Rosie" [tspoil] nothings says, "pondering the crumbly-running-right-after-an-arrow"
Crumbly says, "OK, I try to slide it up." [tspoil] DM says, "I was wrong"
DM says, "No dice"
DM says, "Another arrow fires at Rosie" [tspoil] nothings says, "yeah, ok. that's why I took it to #tspoil!"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Does each attempt to psuh the door in some direction take a round?"
Rosie says (to Crumbly), "I can try to figure this out--no sense pushing your luck."
Crumbly says, "OK. I flee to the gargoyle room."
[tomb] DM says, "That how I'm calling it, yeah"
Clem says, "Back to the safety of the four-armed mutant gargoyle room."
DM says, "Crumbly successfully flees without further mishap"
Rosie tries pushing this door right and left.
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Is it moving at all?"
DM says, "Aha, when you push on the right it turns out that the whole thing pivots around a central axis"
[tomb] Eolo says, "this is like that maze in jewel of darkness"
DM says, "and you slide into another 10' by 10' room"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "arrows, in darkness"
[Crows-Nest] DM asks, "Remember when I said that this was like a terrible old-school IF game?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "She had a voice like a four-armed mutant gargoyls and her body was like a grid map covered in 10x10 rooms."
DM says, "and dodge another arrow"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "ha"
Rosie goes around the room methodically pushing on the walls.
DM says, "I assume you have a light source, btw"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Oh, hmm, I have lamps."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Or I can borrow glowy chalk."
[tomb] Eolo says, "she's even written a song about them, "My Lamps""
DM says, "That doesn't seem to do anything"
Crumbly says, "I've got a backpack full of torches, if you need one."
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 14+1 | 15
[tomb] Clem says, "Sure, have some chalk."
Rosie says (to Crumbly), "Well, the door's open and once again, I can't find the next door."
DM says, "You don't find anything"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "ah, O(N^2) search algorithms"
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "Ha ha ha ha"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Heh."
DM says, "Time passes..."
Crumbly says, "Sorry"
[Crows-Nest] (from Paulie) DM says, "...at Rosie"
Crumbly says, "OK, I'm going to go help Rosie search again"
Rosie once again shadows Crumbly.
DM says, "OK, you sprint into the third room"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says (to Paulie), "well, it's flying, anyway"
Paulie asks, "Did anyone bring some dice?"
DM says, "As you arrive, an arrow fires at Rosie"
Crumbly rolls 1d20+26: 11+26 | 37
Crumbly says, "(south wall)"
DM says, "Rolling your eyes, you point out the obvious secret door on the south wall to Rosie"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "ha ha"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "heeheehee"
DM says, "An arrow fires at Crumbly!!"
Rosie smacks her forehead.
DM says, "It hits for 3 damage"
Paulie says, "I could teach ye to play Haddock's Eyes."
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "it's not just a maze, it's a maze where arrows shoot at you every turn"
Clem says, "Feh, hardly worth bothering to cure that one."
Rosie once again pushes on the door.
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "that's pretty old school all right"
Crumbly searches the east wall too
DM says, "Pushing still doesn't do anything"
Crumbly rolls 1d20+26: 11+26 | 37
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "not only that, but undo is disabled"
Rosie feels around for irregularities.
DM says (to Crumbly), "Nothing in the east wall"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "I was going to make that joke, then decided against it"
DM says, "while an arrow fires at Rosie"
Rosie then tries the caltrop/pulling method.
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "well, no going back now"
DM asks (of Crumbly), "Are you hanging around or running back?"
Crumbly says, "Running back"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "wait, inky disappeared but eolo is still here"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "really? whoops"
[Crows-Nest] (from Paulie) <Eolo> Eolo has disconnected from ifMUD.
DM says, "Aha, this one seems to be attached at the top and swings up towards you like a cat door"
Paulie says, "Ah, this must be where they keep the lions."
Crumbly says, "I wonder if there's a pattern to this"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 asks, "where's the rest of the party? three rooms back?"
Rosie looks into the next room.
DM says, "You duck into the next room, which is actually a little hallway"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Yeah, we're all in the gargoyle room."
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Oh, we're all back in town."
DM says, "E/W, 40' feet long"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "we're chillin' like a dead gargoyle"
DM says, "You entered at the east end, at the north wall"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "Let's see Rosie dodge 4 arrows at a time!" [tspoil] K-Y asks, "Isn't that three blocks on the map?"
Rosie asks, "10' wide (n/s)?"
DM says, "Yep"
DM says, "Sorry, only 30' long" [tspoil] DM says, "Hmm, Crumbly gave up on the other path"
Clem says, "The walls are coming in!"
Crumbly asks, "Any doors?"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says (to Clem), "haha"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "hee hee"
DM says, "Rosie doesn't see any doors"
Crumbly says, "Sounds like I'm needed again."
Rosie enters the hallway, checks to see if there are any more arrows.
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "shut down all the gargoyle mashers on the tomb level!"
DM says, "An arrow fires at Rosie!"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "yay"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Yay."
Rosie rolls her eyes.
Clem says, "Arrows in the hallway too?? Sheesh."
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 12+1 | 13
DM asks (of Rosie), "Where?"
Clem says, "This Acererak is like the least imaginative evil lich genius undead supervillain ever."
Rosie says, "The N wall of the NW corner."
Crumbly says, "Actually, this seems like a good time to explore the other 10x10 rooms a bit to eliminate more walls."
DM says, "Nothing there"
Rosie again pushes on walls, etc.
Crumbly says, "Because the two branches abut." [tspoil] K-Y asks, "Why does this say 11 traps in all if there are only 7 rooms?"
Crumbly s s
DM says, "Pushing the walls doesn't seem to do anything" [tspoil] K-Y asks, "Or is it 1 trap per 10x10 space?"
Rosie tries pulling everywhere, too. [tspoil] DM says, "I guess it's the latter, even though I only count 10 spaces"
[tspoil] K-Y says, "That too"
Rosie says, "Crumbly, if you want to tell me where the next door is..."
DM says, "Hmm, the wall at the west end seems to jiggle a little when you pull in the middle"
Paulie says (to Crumbly), "Aye, that seems a fine idea."
Rosie exclaims, "Wait, I've found something!"
[tomb] Clem says, "Hmm, those runes didn't say anything about rooms full of sodding arrows." [tspoil] K-Y says, "Man, 100' of arrows"
Rosie tries pulling right and left on the west end wall/door.
DM says, "No luck"
Rosie tries up/down.
[tomb] Paulie asks, "There's nothing stopping Crumbly from searching the left branch while Rosie search the right branch, right?"
DM says, "Aha, it slides up"
[tomb] Clem says, "No 'cupid's barbs thy vulnerable parts shall prick, shouldst thou dare invade my rooms of, er, brick' or anything like that."
Rosie peers into the next room.
DM says, "Revealing an empty 10' by 10' room"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "hah"
Rosie says, "Jeez."
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "Sorry guys"
Rosie continues the push/pull deal on the newly-revealed walls.
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "I'm powerless to make this any less annoying! It's in the module! Writ by the hand of Gygax!"
[Crows-Nest] Clem asks, "Is that like Bigby's hand?"
[Crows-Nest] Clem asks, "Only heavier?"
[tomb] Paulie says, "I'm tempted to send Grog in to open that other actual door we found."
Rosie says, "With some focus on the south wall."
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "So, wait, she's managing to open doors without searching for them first?"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "Bigby's Irritating Hand"
[tomb] Clem says, "It seems like we can pretty much ignore the arrows."
[tomb] (from DM) Crumbly says, "Why am I even here?"
DM says, "Pushing and pulling on the south wall doesn't do anything"
[tomb] Clem says, "Not enough to put anyone below -10hp."
[tomb] Clem says, "Er, unless they also fire at unconscious people."
[tomb] Paulie exclaims (at Clem), "Only one way to check!"
Crumbly opens the opened door in the arrow-free branch
[tomb] DM says (to Crumbly), "If people perform the physical operation necessary to open it, I'm letting them open it"
[tomb] Rosie exclaims, "throw in the gargoyle!"
Rosie tries the other walls.
DM says (to Crumbly), "That's the door on the west wall - it opens into another 10' by 10' room with a door on the north wall"
[tomb] Paulie says (to Y'know,), "if that works... then we increase Crumbly's odds of not being shot at to 2/3 when he's in there with you."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Hm. Actually, that's not a bad notion: coming up with a way to distract the arrows."
DM says (to Rosie), "When you pull on the north wall, it opens toward you like double doors"
Paulie says (to Paulie), "Try dragging that corpse into that room over there. Careful you don't step in yeself, though."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I wonder if they fire at invisible people."
[tomb] Clem says, "Okay, you grab the legs of the 10-foot-tall gargoyle that probably weighs about three tons, I'll grab the arms."
DM says, "Revealing a 20' long corridor to the north"
[tomb] Paulie says, "(Er, (to Grog))"
DM says, "(with no doors)"
Grog drags, shoves, and tosses as commanded.
[tomb] Ebezar says, "I can carry that ear Grog cut off"
[tomb] Clem says, "Ha ha."
Crumbly says, "Hey, that cuts off the room north of me."
[tomb] Eolo says, "corpse onna stick"
Rosie, starting on the west wall, pulls and pushes.
[tomb] Eolo says, "wow, 20' corridor"
DM says, "The gargoyle corpse doesn't seem to set off the arrow trap"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Yeah, I have that coming up to the corner of the gargoyle room, which is a bit odd."
DM says, "Pulling and pushing on the west wall doesn't do anything"
Crumbly says, "So the door north of me leads to some kind of final room."
[tomb] Paulie says (to Clem), "You can drag several times your maximum load, so I'm guessing that even if it's half a ton, he can drag it. Although I didn't run the numbers."
Crumbly says, "I listen at the door."
Crumbly says, "taking ten for 26."
[tomb] Clem says, "Well, we have sharp swords, if need be we can carry it in stages."
[tomb] Clem says, "Or 'modules' or even 'gobbets' if you prefer."
Rosie tries the north wall.
DM says (to Crumbly), "Silence"
[tomb] josh_g says, "hee hee eww"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Was Rosie entering the corridor from the south end?"
DM says (to Rosie), "Pulling and pushing on the west wall doesn't do anything"
[tomb] DM says, "Yes"
Crumbly opens the door he just listened at
[tomb] Rosie asks (of DM), "The north too?"
DM says (to Crumbly), "It leads to an empty 10' by 10' room"
[tomb] DM says, "Sorry, I meant to replace west with north after I cut and pasted"
DM says, "With a door on the north wall"
[tomb] Eolo says, "hee hee"
Crumbly searches the west wall of that empty 10x10 room
Crumbly says, "taking ten for 36"
DM says (to Crumbly), "Nothing there"
[tomb] Eolo says, "good thing all you guys optimized your characters for combat this time"
Rosie (yelling) "Hey, if you guys want to smash down the west wall in Crumbly's room, you'll end up where I am."
Crumbly says, "So, no shortcut past the arrows."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Also, has anyone tried checking the floors?"
Rosie tries the floor and the ceiling in this last room.
[tomb] Crumbly says, "The room I'm in has one."
DM says (to Rosie), "Nothing special"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Hmm, what else could I try besides pulling and pushing?"
Paulie says, "I thought mutant four-armed gargoyles were supposed to guard priceless treasures."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Turning?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "prodding"
Crumbly asks, "Anyone prepared Knock?"
Paulie says, "I've got it on a scroll."
Rosie looks high and low for anything golden on the walls.
Paulie says, "Just one, though." [tspoil] DM says, "Geez, Rosie has already explicitly tried sliding before"
DM says (to Rosie), "Nope"
Rosie tries pushing right and left on the walls.
Crumbly says, "Proposal: leave this behind and go back to the archway at the end of the rune hall."
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "TOMB OF CORRIDORS"
[tomb] Paulie says (to Crumbly), "Did you go north into your final room, yet? I'm getting confused."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Yeah"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "And I searched it for a passage to Rosie's last hallway"
DM says, "Aha, the northernmost part of the west wall slid to the left"
DM says, "Revealing a 10' by 10' room"
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 listens to the wav again to regain the atmosphere
DM says, "The arrows are still going, by the way"
Clem says, "arrows schmarrows"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "This is sort of like Princess Bride where they figure out how to avoid the horrors of the fire swamp." [tspoil] DM says, "I wish they knew this was the last one"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Hrm. OK. It looked like he just mentioned a 'door on the north wall' to you."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Here's this area as I have it:"
[Crows-Nest] (from josh_g) DM says, "Clem gets an arrow in the eye! 45hp!"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Rosie calmly plucks arrows out of the air as she searches."
[tomb] Rosie | GGGHHH
[tomb] Rosie | GG
[tomb] Rosie | GGS
[tomb] Rosie | SCCS
[tomb] Rosie | SCCS
[tomb] Rosie | SSSS [tspoil] DM says, "but for all they know there are 50"
[tomb] Paulie says, "But I guess I'm confused."
[tomb] DM says (to Paulie), "There is"
[tomb] Clem says, "I tried to read that as a sound effect." [tspoil] K-Y says, "Well, visual cues at least"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Rosie's death rattle"
[tomb] Rosie says, "With the C's being the closets, and the S's being the secret rooms, and the G's being the gargoyle room."
[tomb] Eolo says, "that's the noise it makes trying to move the gargoyle"
[tomb] Paulie asks (of DM), "So there is one room of Crumbly's he hasn't opened yet?"
[tomb] DM says (to Rosie), "Yeah, and you just found an S to the west of the NW-most S"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "if we stick all of the arrows in the gargoyle corpse, it'll be easier to take them back to sell without cutting ourselves"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "No, I've opened all of mine."
[tomb] DM says (to Paulie), "Yes"
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "Wait, what?"
[tomb] DM says, "There is a door on the north wall of the NW-most C"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "you guys should drag the gargoyle back to town just to freak everyone out"
Rosie enters the new room.
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, ""you know that hill right over there? guess what's inside?""
DM says, "More arrows, etc."
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "'Not this anymore'"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "hee hee"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "But the other side of such a door would be the gargoyle room."
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "'this was my dad. he got hit by a baleful polymorph spell'"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Unless it's Magic."
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "ha ha"
[Crows-Nest] Clem asks, "Hey, anybody want to buy 8000 arrows?"
[tomb] Eolo asks, "by the map this extends past the gargoyle room, doesn't it?"
Rosie, starting with the south wall, pulls, pushes, pushes right, pushes left, pushes up, and pushes down in the obvious spots.
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "They're magic! And possibly poisoned!"
[tomb] Crumbly recaps, sees that DM did in fact mention the door on the north wall
[tomb] Eolo says, "oh, wait"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I missed that the first time."
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "we'll throw the gargoyle in free"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "well, more 'shove' than 'throw'"
DM says, "Nothing on the south wall"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "We killed this gargoyle with arrows, and you could do the same."
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "We also used some big swords and axes and stuff but mainly it was arrows."
[Crows-Nest] Rosie says, "Yay"
DM says, "Nothing happens with the west wall either"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo exclaims, "Gargoyle brand slightly-used arrows: we'll rend the competition's prices!"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Please ignore the lightning and flaming scorch marks and the acid etching thanks."
DM says, "Nor the north wall"
Crumbly says, "OK, guys, there's this non-secret door that I didn't notice somehow. Probably because it doesn't make sense that it's there."
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "if this were deus ex we would have lured it into the arrow room and then hidden"
Crumbly searches north door, taking 10: 36
Rosie says (to Crumbly), "Could be a trap, like the entrances."
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Man, that would totally work, except its damage reduction would make it immune to arrows."
DM says (to Crumbly), "There's nothing special about it"
Crumbly opens it
[tomb] Paulie says, "I suppose a door could be secret only on one side."
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "I guess eventually it would suffocate."
DM says, "The door opens, revealing a blank wall"
Rosie searches the floor/ceiling.
[tomb] Paulie says, "Ha."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "eventually all the arrows sticking in its hide would weigh it down too much to move"
Crumbly says, "Well, at least that makes sense"
DM says (to Rosie), "Roll for search"
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 16+1 | 17
DM says, "You see nothing special about the floor"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "DR 10/arrows keep you from reaching it"
Rosie rolls 1d20+1 for search: 13+1 | 14
DM says, "nor the ceiling"
Crumbly says, "OK, time for me to go help Rosie again, I think"
Rosie checks for irregularities.
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "I'm going to start cursing, 'by gygax's unfortunate love of arrow traps!'"
[tomb] Clem says, "You know, 10 out of 10 for style in deflecting all these arrows, but I'm afraid I can only give you a 3 for sharp eyesight."
Crumbly says, "It'll take me two rounds just to get there."
Paulie starts playing with the other walls in the gargoyle room, the way Rosie is in her corridor. Starting at the SW corner and working his way around.
Rosie returns to cover for Crumbly.
DM asks, "OK, are you guys going to run through together?"
Rosie says, "Yeah."
Crumbly says, "yes"
DM says, "Running through it is fast enough that only a couple of arrows fire and none of them come particularly close"
DM says, "But when you arrive at the end you'll be susceptible again"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "You know, Raiders would have been a lot cooler if Indy had to run back and forth through that first trap-filled dungeon ten or fifteen times."
[tomb] DM says (to Rosie), "btw, if you care, that GHHH should be one row down"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Oh, thanks."
Crumbly says, "OK. I will search, in order: north west south floor ceiling, stopping as soon as I find something."
[Crows-Nest] Clem says 'you know' a few more times.
Crumbly rolls 1d20+26: 12+26 | 38
Crumbly rolls 1d20+26: 2+26 | 28
DM says, "You find nothing in the north wall"
DM says, "and an arrow fires at Rosie"
DM says, "You find something in the west wall!"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo exclaims, "!!"
DM says, "and an arrow fires at Rosie"
DM says, "Man, this coin must be weighted"
Rosie says, "OK, thanks."
DM says, "There are seven little studs in the middle of the wall"
Crumbly says, "Ooh."
[tomb] Clem says, "Once we clear out all the monsters, we should hire this place out as a monk training school."
Rosie asks, "In what pattern?"
DM says, "In a horizontal row"
[tomb] Eolo says, "ha ha"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "yay"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Halflings, I assume."
DM says, "An arrow fires at Rosie"
Crumbly says, "I bet you have to push them all in the direction of the doors you've passed through already or something."
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Buff halflings."
Crumbly says, "Except there are only six secret doors."
[Crows-Nest] Clem asks, "The seven little studs?"
Rosie says, "You're forgetting the one out of the gargoyle room."
Paulie says, "Not secret."
DM says, "An arrow fires at Rosie"
Rosie says, "Go ahead and get out of here; I'll mess with the studs."
Crumbly asks, "I try wiggling a stud. Does it move?"
Rosie says, "If you know what I mean."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "mutant four-armed snow white and the seven studs"
DM asks (of Crumbly), "Which one?"
Crumbly says, "The leftmost."
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "wiggling... a stud..."
DM says, "It doesn't move from side to side"
DM says, "An arrow fires at Rosie"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Man, that's some coin."
[tomb] DM says, "This random number generator must be broken"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Are you actually flipping a coin?"
[tomb] DM says, "No, I'm 'rolling a d2'"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Not '1d2'?"
[tomb] DM says, "Not on the mud"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Ah."
[tomb] Clem asks, "Is this like rand()%2?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "You got Crumbly that one time."
[tomb] Rosie says, "But yeah, this seems suspicious."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Not that I'm complaining, mind you."
[tomb] nothings says (to Clem), "that would alternate"
[tomb] Clem says, "I have completely faith that this is perfectly random and fine."
[tomb] Eolo says (to nothings), "heh"
Rosie asks (of Crumbly), "Before you go, can you check for traps?"
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Rosie), "SHHH! ixnay on the uggestionsay"
Crumbly checks for traps
[tomb] Rosie says, "'Wait! I see the problem!'"
Crumbly rolls 1d20+26: 8+26 | 34
[tomb] DM says, "OK, the studs are definitely trickier than you might have thought"
[tomb] (from Clem) DM says, "Okay, 27 arrows that have been hovering around unnoticed now fire at Crumbly."
DM says, "OK, the studs are definitely trickier than you might have thought"
Crumbly asks, "Trickier? As in, trapped?"
DM says, "because Crumbly can tell that doing the wrong thing will set off a trap"
DM says, "An arrow fires... at Rosie"
Crumbly says, "I wonder if I can disable the trap without disabling the studs."
[tomb] Clem says, "I could cast Divination to figure out the studs, maybe."
[tomb] Eolo asks, "fiddling with random buttons in the tomb of horrors sets off a trap? who could have guessed?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Or maybe Augury would work."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Can you figure out what kind of trap it is?"
[tomb] nothings says (to Eolo), "haha"
[tomb] Paulie says, "It could be, like, an arrow that shoots out at Rosie."
Rosie says, "Hmm, my guess is that the 'look low and high for gold' is the trick here."
[tomb] Clem says, "It could be d20d20 arrows."
DM says, "An arrow first at Crumbly"
[tomb] Clem says, "Let me check if my Augury scroll will help here."
DM says, "It misses!"
Crumbly says, "cool"
DM says, "Uh, fires"
Ebezar asks, "did someone say 'fire'?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "augury: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/augury.htm"
Ebezar prepares his empowered fireball
[tomb] Clem says, "Hmm, yeah, just a single yes-or-no answer to 'is this a good idea?'"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "hee hee"
[tomb] Clem says, "It would have to be Divination."
[Crows-Nest] nothings asks, "Never shout 'fire' in a crowded... tomb... of horrors?"
Clem hollers, "Hey, how are you doing with those studs? Want to see if G'taar can enlighten us?"
Crumbly asks, "I'm going to attempt to disable the trap. I may wind up disabling the studs' other function in the process. Anyone object?"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "What are the odds?"
[tomb] Clem says, "79%, looks like."
[tomb] Clem says, "For success."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "For divination?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Yeah."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "OK, what are the odds for disabling?"
DM says, "An arrow fires at Rosie"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Who knows?"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Crumbly, no?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "disable away"
[tomb] Clem says, "Yeah, go for it."
[tomb] DM says, "You could use Divination to find out the odds for disabling"
Paulie says, "I suppose if you break the studs, we can always bash the wall in and try to figure out where the levers connect to later."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Hee"
[tomb] Clem says, "I was actually thinking that Augury could do that but came to my senses."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Depends on how complex it is. I'd have to roll a 2 or better for a normal trp."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "TRP?"
[tomb] Alex says (to Paulie), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that TRP is That's Rather Personal."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "What are the odds that if you successfully disable it, it will also break it?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "(if you know)"
[tomb] Eolo says, "divination is supposed to give the answer as a cryptic riddle, so I assume its answer for the odds would be like "p(success) = sum (i: 1..10) p(notification) * log sin (trap angle)""
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I dunno. Up to the DM."
DM says, "An arrow fires at Rosie"
Clem says (to Crumbly), "Sure, try to disable the trap." [tspoil] DM says, "The arrows are a good way to make them hurry up"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "If I roll 12 or better, I can undo whatever I did."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Oh, cool."
[tomb] Rosie says, "OK, go for it." [tspoil] Eolo says, "write them into the rest of the dungeon"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Yeah, definitely, then." [tspoil] nothings says, "they would be if anyone other than Rosie was exposed"
[tomb] Clem says, "Yeah, you'll definitely roll 12 or better."
Rosie says, "Sure."
Crumbly says, "OK. I am gong to try to disable the trap before we do anything else."
[tomb] Clem says, "On a d20."
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Eolo), "GEEK"
Rosie says, "Oh, and if it helps, I think the right way to open it is to push the leftmost first, then the rightmost." [tspoil] DM says (to Rosie), "Ha ha ha"
Crumbly says, "This is a secret roll that the DM has to make."
Rosie says, "from the 'look low and high' part of the collar runes."
DM says (to Crumbly), "Oh ah"
Rosie asks, "Wait, the runes were magical, right?"
[tomb] Clem says (to Rosie), "Hmm, that seems like a reach."
Rosie asks, "Maybe if we read it aloud in this room?" [tspoil] Eolo says, "it seems like it is not a smart move to map low/high to left/right"
DM says (to Crumbly), "OK, you may have done something"
Crumbly says, "OK."
DM says, "An arrow fires at Crumbly"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Any other ideas?"
DM says, "and hits"
DM says, "for 1"
[tomb] nothings says, "'high' would heavenly, and 'low' would be hellish, and 'hellish' is 'sinister', and 'sinister' is left, so clearly left=low, right=high"
Rosie goes back with Crumbly to get the runes so she can read it in this room.
Clem says, "Ow, that's got to hurt."
Clem says, "Your pinky."
DM says, "Good thing he wasn't a first-level magic-user"
Ebezar exclaims, "hey!"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Hee hee"
Crumbly says, "My best guess is that it has to do with the doors we passed to get here. Like, if we pushed a door upward, we pusht he corresponding stud upawrd."
DM says, "The studs don't move back and forth"
[tomb] Paulie says, "It occurs to me that we do have another way to improve Crumbly's odds."
[tomb] Paulie says, "We could send in Canary."
Rosie asks, "Do they look like they push in?"
DM says, "Yes"
Crumbly says, "H."
Clem asks, "7 studs, right?"
[tomb] Eolo asks, "canary?"
[tomb] Alex says (to Eolo), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that a canary is what ifMUD really, REALLY needs."
DM says, "Yes"
[tomb] DM says (to Eolo), "The animals from their bags of tricks"
Clem says, "They didn't teach me mathematics at cleric school, but it seems like that is a lot of possible combinations."
[tomb] Paulie says (to Eolo), "Our friends from the Bag o' Tricks."
[tomb] Eolo says, "oh yeah" [tspoil] K-Y says, "Wow, if only this made one bit of sense"
[tomb] Eolo says, "I guess that might be safer"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Let's say we've regrouped in the gargoyle room to try to puzzle stuff out."
Crumbly says, "Apart from doors, there are seven rooms."
DM says, "OK, you both run back into the gargoyle room"
Crumbly says, "Two of which are long, the rest are 10x10"
Paulie says, "Excellent point."
Clem asks, "You didn't notice any numbers or anything in the rooms?"
Crumbly says, "nope" [tspoil] DM says, "They're going to be so pissed when it turns out they just have to press them all"
Paulie says, "I agree with Crumbly."
Rosie, in the meantime, gets the paper from the collar, and tries reading it aloud in the room. [tspoil] Eolo says, "ha ha"
Paulie asks, "So, the fourth and sixth studs?"
DM asks (of Rosie), "Which room?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Hang on, Divination takes ten minutes to cast."
[tomb] Rosie says, "The room with the studs." [tspoil] K-Y says, "Maybe d&d had a lot of 'press all' puzzles back in the day, I dunno"
DM says, "Nothing happens"
[tomb] Clem says, "I hope I don't have to stay inside the arrow room while casting it."
Rosie returns to the gargoyle room. [tspoil] Eolo says, "this was back in the olden days before 'all' was disabled"
[tspoil] nothings says, "hahaha"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "This is reminding me of Wizrdry 4."
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 asks, "what paper from what collar?"
[tomb] Eolo says (to Clem), "it doesn't have any particular range"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "the gargoyle collar turned out to have a secret compartment"
[Crows-Nest] DM | http://www.henchmonkey.org/forum/discussion/43/
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "The gargoyle's collar had a secret compartment."
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "from the gargoyle collar"
Clem says (to Paulie), "Hmm, good thought."
[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "huh"
Clem says, "The trap is probably disabled now anyway."
Ebezar exclaims, "Good luck, Rosie!"
Rosie asks, "Four fist, then six?"
Clem asks (of Rosie), "Don't you have boots of levitation?"
Paulie says, "Or together, possibly." [tspoil] K-Y says, "Do they stay down when pushed? That could make a big difference"
[Crows-Nest] (from Eolo) Ebezar returns to his calculation of what share each of the other people should get of Rosie's loot
Rosie says, "Yes."
Clem says, "You should probably activate them in case of pits."
Paulie asks, "Should Crumbly press them, as he's best at dodging?"
Rosie says, "Good thought." [tspoil] DM says, "I'm going to say yes, just to get this moving"
Rosie says, "I have a pretty good dodge myself."
Paulie nods.
Rosie says, "And there's all the arrows."
Crumbly says, "Maybe there was a pattern in the pits in the rune hall. They varied from side to side."
Clem says, "Ooooh."
Paulie says, "But some where in the middle of the path."
Rosie says, "There's also the option of pushing all the size-1 room buttons, then the size-2 room button, then the size-3 room button."
Crumbly says, "But I wasn't mapping yet when we explored there, so I don't know."
DM says (to Crumbly), "West, west, east, middle, east, west"
Paulie says, "That's three directions, and the studs only go in or not in, I believe."
Ebezar says, "I could also displace you if needed, but it is of very short duration."
Crumbly says, "We could always explore elsewhere until we find more clues."
Rosie says, "I bet we have all the clues."
Clem asks, "Where else is there?"
Paulie says, "I favor the four and six, still."
Clem says, "Just the two dangerous-looking hallways."
Rosie says, "Eh, I'll go push buttons for a while."
Rosie exclaims, "Wish me luck!"
Clem says, "Yay!"
Paulie says (to Clem), "And the mouth of the demon at the end of the hall."
Clem asks (of Paulie), "I was counting that as one. What's the other?"
Clem says, "Er, doorways, not hallways."
Paulie asks, "Didn't the path fork to a doorway at either side?"
Rosie dashes down the hallway, pushes button four, then six.
DM says, "Button 4 goes in and stays in"
DM says, "Button 6 goes in and stays in"
Clem says, "Hmm."
[tomb] DM says (to Paulie), "One fork went left to the archway"
Rosie pushes the rest of the buttons from lower to higher.
[tomb] Paulie says, "Oh, OK."
[tomb] DM says, "The other fork went straight ahead to the demon"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Were they both red-tiled?"
[tomb] DM says, "Or devil, I guess"
[tomb] DM says, "Yes" [tspoil] nothings asks, "was that an actual archway, or a mosaic of an archway?"
[tspoil] DM says, "An actual archway"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "I think it was a swirly portal"
DM asks (of Rosie), "Left to right, you mean?"
Crumbly pokes head into area, looks for anything glowing in darkness
[tomb] Clem asks, "So what do these naga things do, anyway?"
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "They're spellcasters, aren't they?"
[tomb] Clem says, "I hope that means they have d4 hit dice."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "they're a spell-casting aberration, as I recall"
DM says, "The crawlway comes out waist high in a small room, 10' by 20'"
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "actually, can I go ahead and do a knowledge roll for more info?"
DM | http://hamesucken.com/tomb/11.jpg
(From Clem) DM says, "An arrow fires at Rosie."
DM says, "A broken, 8-foot-tall statue of a four-armed gargoyle squats here, alone and in the dark. Its three remaining hands appear as if in positions of supplication, or need."
Clem says, "Yikes, THREE-armed mutant gargoyle."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "just who you were hoping to see"
Crumbly withdraws head
[tomb] Ebezar says, "three remaining hands"
[tomb] DM says, "Ha ha"
Crumbly says, "Wait, just a statue."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "do not poke into disintegration ray with remaining hands"
Crumbly says, "And I probably need to exit the crawlway to let you guys out."
Crumbly exits
[tomb] DM says (to Ebezar), "Sure"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "If gargoyles are made of stone, how can you tell the difference between a statue of one, and a gargoyle standing really still?"
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "hm, which is the knowledge roll for aberrations?"
Paulie asks, "Can someone give me a boost, here?"
[tomb] Clem says (to Paulie), "I think that's essentially their whole schtick."
[tomb] Eolo says, "dungeoneering"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "inky will know"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "there we go"
Rosie enters.
Crumbly asks, "Anyone feel like reattaching the arm and seeing what happens?"
[tomb] Clem says, "That and ripping people apart with their bare stony hands."
Rosie asks (of Crumbly), "Uh, no?"
(From DM) Grog tosses Paulie in the hole
Clem says (to Crumbly), "I think that would be bad."
[Crows-Nest] nothings asks, "so wait, the original way they came in was a full-body passage regardless of where the sphere was, but this one is a passage the size of the sphere?"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "apparently"
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "Yes"
Ebezar rolls dungeoneering for 1d20+6: 1 | 1
Ebezar rolls 1d20+6: 2+6 | 8
[tomb] Ebezar says, "oh, yes, much better" [tspoil] DM says, "It's not totally clear but it did say that this was a crawlway"
[Crows-Nest] Rosie says, "You should have stuck with your first roll" [tspoil] Eolo says, "that seems pretty reasonable then"
Clem asks (of Ebezar), "So, what can you tell me about naga?"
Clem asks, "Or is it nagas?"
Rosie looks around the room for anything besides the statue.
Ebezar says, "Uh, yes, well." [tspoil] nothings says, "yeah, it's just that when you ask 'are you touching it', and crumbly is trying to stride through, he probably just means the wall, rather than the sphere"
Ebezar says, "They are, uh, aberrations."
[Crows-Nest] Rosie asks, "Does this look like the same size/type of gargoyle as the last one?"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Are we all in this room now?"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Does this look like the same size/type of gargoyle as the last one?"
[tomb] Clem says, "If so, what Rosie asked."
[tomb] DM says, "Pretty much, yeah"
Crumbly says, "One of the creatures in the pictures was a medusa."
[tomb] DM says, "The pictures don't look exactly the same, but maybe this sculptor took some artistic license"
Rosie tries to see what the gargoyle was looking at.
Crumbly asks, "Oh, hm. Just thinking: You don't suppose the human on the wall was Acerack or whatever his name was? Before he got all undeadified?"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "it's lookin' at you, kid"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Does it look like a turned-to-stone real gargoyle, or a through-and-through statue?"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Any other exits?"
[Crows-Nest] Rosie says, "Arr, more lag."
[tomb] Clem says, "Hey, hmm, my Detect Evil spell lasts for 90 minutes."
[tomb] Clem says, "Rar, lag."
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Clem), "oh, hey, that would be useful to pair with my protection from evil"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "for me to know when to cast it, I mean"
Crumbly says, "Hello"
Crumbly says, "I'm guessing that"
Crumbly says, "the only reason I'm not affected by this lag is that I have the same ISP as the MUD."
[tomb] Clem says, "test"
[tomb] Clem says, "Nope, still pretty lagged."
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "arr"
[tomb] Paulie says (to Crumbly), "That seems likely. neild was saying he was also unaffected."
Crumbly says, "I'm still here."
Crumbly asks, "Anyone else?"
DM goes home.
Ebezar has disconnected.
Ebezar husbands his hitpoints carefully.
K-Y shouldn't take up a 70-foot swath of desert.
nothings goes home.
Clem has disconnected.
Clem has connected.
Clem says, "Urf ow."
Ebezar has arrived.
Grog has disconnected.
Grog goes home.
Clem asks, "What happened? Garoyle on the server?"
Crumbly says, "Hooray, everyone's coming back"
Clem says, "Er, gargoyle."
Paulie has disconnected.
Paulie goes home.
Eolo has disconnected.
Eolo goes home.
Eolo has arrived.
Paulie has arrived.
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Ping?"
Ebezar says, "the fourth arm went to choking off our connection"
[tomb] Clem says, "pong"
[tomb] Clem says, "Fine here."
[tomb] DM says, "It just let me back on"
[tomb] DM asks, "Is everyone still here?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "same here"
[tomb] DM asks, "and OK to play a little longer?"
Rosie exits stage left.
[tomb] Paulie says, "Perry never even got knocked off."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I'm up for it."
[tomb] Paulie says (to DM), "I'm good."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I never got knocked off either."
[tomb] Eolo asks (of Paulie), "is the log still logging, though?"
[tomb] DM says, "I have my log"
[tomb] Paulie says (to Eolo), "Yeah."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I've got it all too"
[tomb] Paulie says, "I guess because Perry never tried to send anything to the MUD."
K-Y has arrived.
[tomb] DM says, "All righty, let's try to continue"
Rosie has arrived.
[tomb] Paulie says, "Is everyone here? Paulie, Crumbly, Clem, Ebezar..."
[tomb] DM says, "and Rosie"
[Crows-Nest] Rosie says (to DM), "You're not in the room yet"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Rosie, and mechaFinn."
DM has arrived.
nothings has arrived.
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "Thanks"
Grog has arrived.
DM says, "OK, you were in the room with the three-armed gargoyle statue"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "I take it things are sorted out?"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Any exits besides how we entered?"
[tomb] DM says, "Nope"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Maybe there's a trap door under the gargoyle."
Paulie detects magic and surveys the room.
[tomb] Eolo says (to Rosie), "I don't think there is any guarantee that the lag issues are sorted out, since it's at the ISP level"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "to recap for me: there's a four-armed gargoyle statue, only one of the arms is gone"
[tomb] Eolo says, "but I dunno, I guess they replugged the cord in or whatever"
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "correct?"
Clem says, "Okay, I'm going to cast Detect Evil."
[tomb] Eolo says, "that sounds right"
Clem says, "Since I noticed that it lasts for 90 minutes."
[tomb] DM says, "Well, the fourth arm is lying in front of it"
[tomb] Eolo says, "as seen in http://hamesucken.com/tomb/11.jpg"
Clem says, "And basically keep an eye out for evil stuff that might kill us horribly."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "oh, I missed that. Thanks."
[tomb] DM says, "It was in the picture and Crumbly noticed it"
Clem says, "I'll start with the gargoyle."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "it's like a phil foglio drawing"
DM says, "No evil in here"
Clem says, "Well, okay -- FOR NOW"
Rosie tries to push the gargoyle to one side.
Clem keeps concentrating.
[tomb] nothings says, "except for the boobs"
DM says, "It's either extremely heavy or attached to the floor"
[tomb] nothings says, "and the funny"
Rosie tries pushing it a different way
[tomb] Eolo says, "the knees are probably hiding its four breasts"
[tomb] nothings says, "actually, I'm not clear how it's at all like a phil foglio drawing"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Note that Detect Evil can penetrate a foot of stone. So if there's something evil *inside* the statue..."
DM says, "It doesn't move"
[tomb] Paulie asks (of DM), "Anything from Detect Magic?" [tspoil] DM says, "Hmm, I wonder if there's any magic"
Crumbly says, "I say we stick the arm back on and see what happens."
Grog helps Rosie push. [tspoil] K-Y asks, "Would the speaking thing be magic mouth, or something?"
Clem says, "That's a great idea."
Clem says, "Apart from the 'we' part, I'm thinking."
Crumbly asks, "Anyone got some Sovereign Glue?"
Crumbly says, "Because you'll never find a situation more tailor-made forit."
Clem says, "Just Solvent here."
Paulie says, "Arr, not a drop. Only this solvent." [tspoil] Eolo says, "if it does anything magical I think it should probably radiate magic"
Rosie checks to see if the gargoyle is wearing a collar.
[tomb] DM says (to Paulie), "Hmm, there's a weak aura of Conjuration"
DM says (to Rosie), "Nope"
Paulie tries to pin it down.
Rosie reads the collar rhyme aloud in this room.
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says (to Paulie), "it's a lot bigger than you and you're not a grappling expert"
DM says, "Actually, while Rosie is checking out the gargoyle, she notices something about its hands"
josh_g, we're rebels. I won't have you dating a junior officer!
Crumbly asks, "They're caked with blood?"
[Crows-Nest] (from Eolo) DM says "Nicely-trimmed fingernails"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "this calls for Bigby's Clamping Hand"
DM says, "There's a concavity in the palm of each one, around 1 inch in diameter"
Crumbly asks, "Including the loose one?"
DM says, "No, just the three that are still on"
Crumbly says, "Huh."
Rosie asks, "Ring-sized?"
[tomb] Ebezar says (to nothings), "something about the face reminded me of his style"
Rosie asks, "Possibly collar-gem sized?"
DM says, "It would be a pretty huge ring"
[tomb] nothings says, "ah"
DM says, "Yeah, collar-gem sized"
DM says, "Now that you mention it"
Rosie says, "Muha muha muha"
Crumbly says, "Clever"
Rosie says, "Good thing we didn't sell 'em."
Ebezar asks, "Oh, do you mean the collar that you took from the gargoyle?"
Crumbly asks, "How many gems were on the collar?"
Ebezar says, "How interesting."
DM says, "ten"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Is the aura centered on the gargoyle?"
[tomb] DM says, "Yep"
[tomb] Eolo says, "actually, what it's really like is: http://www.darrenfrodsham.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/images/darth_maul_800x600.jpg"
Rosie says, "OK, I'm going to try putting a collar gem in one of these hands."
Rosie says, "It's been nice knowing you all."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "ha ha"
DM says, "OK, you pry a gem out of the collar and put it in one of the depressions"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Also, why do I fear that giving the gargoyle the gems will wake it up, and that it will then attack us."
DM says, "It fits perfectly"
DM says, "That is all"
Paulie asks, "Does it amtter which ones we use?"
Rosie puts two more in the other two, after waiting for anyone to leave the room who wants to.
DM says, "Let's say it was the remaining right arm"
DM asks, "Is everyone staying in the room?"
[Crows-Nest] (from nothings) Clem says, "They didn't teach me mathematics in cleric school, but C(10,3) is a lot of combinations."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I actually doubt that for metagame reasons. There isn't enough room in here for tactical movement, so it's unlikely to be a designed for a battle."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo exclaims, "C is for Clem!"
[Crows-Nest] Rosie says, "Hee hee"
Grog gets ready to smash if necessary.
DM says, "OK then"
Crumbly says, "I am staying."
Ebezar asks, "How could I miss this chance to learn more about the tomb?"
DM says, "A few seconds after Rosie puts the third gem in, the hands close!"
Paulie gets ready to Featherfall if necessary.
DM says, "They crush the gems to powder"
DM says, "dump the powder on the floor"
DM says, "and return to their original positions"
Rosie laughs.
Crumbly asks, "Try it again with the fourth arm in place?"
Crumbly says, "We have three tries at this." [tspoil] DM says, "This is so mean"
Rosie says, "Sure."
Crumbly asks, "Who volunteers to hold the arm?"
Paulie says, "There go a hundred fifty gold."
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "Crumbly learned math at Clem's school, apparently"
Crumbly says, "I don't think I'm strong enough."
Rosie helps crumbly set the arm in place to see if it seals back up naturally.
(From DM) Crumbly says, "or brave enough"
DM says, "Nope, it doesn't reattach or anything"
Clem says, "Oh, sure, I'll stay."
[tomb] Clem says, "Yikes lag."
Clem asks, "Did we figure out if this is a real gargoyle or just a natural statue?"
Crumbly says, "No."
Clem says, "Break Enchantment might work, if that's the correct term."
Crumbly asks, "Dispel Magic?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "those are two different spells"
Rosie says, "Nah, dispel would just keep it from doing whatever it was it might do."
Clem asks (of DM), "Hey, did the broken-off arm move when the other arms did?"
DM says, "Nope" [tspoil] DM says, "Oh, duh, it says right here that it radiates magic"
Clem says, "Oh, hang on, I have a scroll of Make Whole."
Clem says, "I wonder if that'll work."
Crumbly says, "Worth a try."
Paulie says, "Good idea."
Clem checks the definition.
[tomb] Clem | This spell functions like mending, except that make whole completely repairs an object made of any substance, even one with multiple breaks, to be as strong as new.
[tomb] Clem says, "Sounds like a winner."
[tomb] Eolo says, "note that it doesn't restore stuff ground to powder, though"
[tomb] DM says, "like YOUR SKULLS"
[tomb] Eolo says, "oh, I guess you meant on the statue"
[tomb] Clem says, "I meant the statue, yeah."
Clem says, "Okay, let's try to reattach this arm, why not."
Clem says, "Apart from the obvious risk of extreme death."
Clem asks, "Any objections?"
Crumbly says, "If we were worried about extreme death, we wouldn't be here."
Rosie says, "Yeah, go for it."
(From DM) (.1 second later) Clem says, "OK, I'm going ahead"
Ebezar says, "Try it."
Clem asks, "Right, somebody want to hold it in place while I read?"
Paulie asks, "Be there any other places on the body that can take gems?"
Paulie asks, "Mouth, or eyes, or anything?"
Clem says (to Paulie), "Keep your mind on the game."
Grog holds it.
Clem says, "Oh, right, I see."
[Crows-Nest] nothings says (to Clem), "hooray"
Clem reads his Make Whole scroll!
DM says, "With a *dzzzzzt* the arm reattaches itself"
(From Crumbly) A whole opens up under you!
Clem says, "by the power of boodle, bingle and schwick / onto the body make this arm stick!"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says (to Crumbly), "ha ha ha"
Clem says, "Man, what a lame spell."
DM says (to Paulie), "You look around but don't see any other promising places"
Clem asks, "Is this arm also in a position of supplication or whatever it was?" [tspoil] DM says, "It said 'no amount of fooling with the broken arm enables its reattachment' but I saw no reason that the spell shouldn't work"
[tspoil] DM says, "plus it doesn't really matter"
Crumbly says, "If the gems don't do anything different this time, I say we hold out for more hints before using the last try."
Rosie says, "OK, assuming no objections..." [tspoil] Eolo says, "yeah"
Rosie nods.
Clem says, "Go for it."
DM says (to Clem), "It's in the same sort of position, yeah"
Rosie puts three more gems into the statue's arms.
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Four?"
Ebezar says, "You need a fourth, surely"
DM says, "The hands close, grind the gems to powder, dump them on the floor, and return to their original position"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Don't we want to put in the fourth one first?"
Crumbly says, "There was no hole in the fourth arm."
Rosie says, "The last arm didn't have... yeah, that."
Rosie says, "Ah, well."
Clem asks, "Did the last arm move at all?"
DM says, "Nope"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "Did anybody SAY they were checking whether a hole had magically formed? I don't think so."
Paulie says, "Maybe we need to find another gargoyle."
Crumbly says, "Maybe if we made a hole in the fourth arm."
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "I wanted to put on in whether it had formed or not."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "throw more gargoyles at the problem"
Clem puts 1gp in each hand.
Clem says, "Just to check if it works for other stuff."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "buddy can you spare a gp"
DM says (to Clem), "The gargoyle rolls its eyes at you"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "if you have an infinite number of gargoyles with an infinite number of gems"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Yay."
DM says, "Actually, nothing happens"
Paulie says, "The clue suggested both low *and* high gold."
Crumbly says, "Or maybe.... maybe it's the wrong arm. Maybe someone made off with the real fourth arm and left this one here to trick us."
Clem says (to Gargoyle), "Hey, if you want a bunch of arrows in each arm, we can push you over to this great corridor."
(From Rosie) DM says, "The arms crush the gp and dump them on the ground. When you pick them up, they say, "I visited the Tomb of Horrors!"
Paulie says, "If we need to arctivated both at once, we be screwed."
DM says (to Rosie), "Ha ha ha"
Clem says (to Rosie), "Yay."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says (to Rosie), "YES"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar exclaims (at Rosie), "ha!"
Clem takes his gp back.
[Crows-Nest] DM says, "That was awesome"
Clem asks (of Crumbly), "Did you search this room for other exits, by the way?"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Too bad Elgran wasn't here to appreciate it."
Crumbly says, "No, have done no searching. I will do so now, searcing every wall, taking tens for 36 each time." [tspoil] DM says, "It is mean that the way to 'solve' this puzzle is to keep failing over and over again"
DM says, "You find nothing"
Clem says, "Dammit."
Rosie sweeps up the gem dust and sprinkles some on the gargoyle.
Clem says, "I feel like trying another sphere thing." [tspoil] K-Y says, "Also, uneven numbers"
DM says (to Rosie), "Nothing happens"
Paulie asks (of Clem), "Thescarlet one, perhaps?" [tspoil] DM says, "Yep"
Crumbly goes back to the hallway of spheres
Clem says, "Hmm, let me check the forum posts first, except in a way that sounds like something I might say in-character." [tspoil] DM says, "I guess Clem can always cast Divination"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "yeah"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "ask G'taar to favor him with a message of chillin' or illin'"
Crumbly says, "I was thinking that the 'look low and high' had to do with the spheres held at different eights."
Crumbly says, "heights"
Paulie says (to Crumbly), "Aye. But there only be one gold." [tspoil] DM says, "Also, it is mean that half of these clues make no sense"
Clem asks, "So you want to try the red one with the skeleton?" [tspoil] K-Y says, "Seems that even augury would work here"
[tspoil] Eolo says (to K-Y), "yeah"
[tspoil] DM says, "Good point"
Crumbly says, "We'll need a magic ring for the red, it sounds"
Crumbly says, "As it happens, I've got one."
Crumbly says, "It might not want mine, though. It might want a specific one."
Clem is still detecting evil like crazy, sweeping the whole sphere room.
DM says (to Clem), "Well, note that you have to maintain concentration"
Clem says, "Whoops, I did read that scroll."
DM says, "You can't just turn it on and off over the course of 90 minutes"
Crumbly says, "So. Skeleton. I approach and touch the sphere."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "detect evil spell or clapper"
Crumbly says, "Bravely using my hands this time."
[tomb] Clem says, "Aha, I have a Pearl of Power I could use to cast it again."
DM says, "Hey, it's an illusory sphere hiding a crawlspace heading east"
[tomb] Clem says, "And maybe remember to concentrate next time."
Crumbly exclaims, "How unexpected!"
Crumbly crawl crawl
Rosie follow follow [tspoil] K-Y asks, "Belatedly, why would transmutation be on the statue but not illusion?"
DM says, "It goes for 40 feet and then stops" [tspoil] Eolo asks, "that's what the module says is on it?"
[tspoil] DM says, "Actually the module says transmuation and conjuration"
Crumbly asks, "Just stops?"
DM says, "Yep" [tspoil] K-Y says, "Right, conjuration makes sense"
[Crows-Nest] (from nothings) Ebezar cower cower
Crumbly searches the end, 36
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "not at all. I'm standing in the main room with no cowering."
[tomb] Clem says, "I guess we're not worried about pit traps any more."
DM says, "There's a secret door on the south wall at the eastern end"
[tomb] Eolo says, "pit traps were so last hallway"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "The main room of ye old adventurer's tavern, back in town."
Crumbly says, "OK. Push it."
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "haha" [tspoil] K-Y says, "But it seems that this is basically magic mouth, which is illusion"
DM says, "As you open it, the whole last bit of the passageway drops out, dumping you 10 feet down to the floor!"
DM says, "Crumbly and Rosie, make a Reflex save"
Crumbly asks, "In a crawlspace?"
Rosie rolls 1d20+14 for reflex: 15+14 | 29
DM says, "Yep"
Clem says, "Just stick your limbs out and grip the walls."
Crumbly rolls 1d20+14: 19+14 | 33
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "I wonder if there are any modules with traps like a bucket of water balanced on top of a door."
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "hee hee"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Or chewing gum on a chair." [tspoil] Eolo says, "I guess the generic magic item radiation is transmutation"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "telescope with kohl-rimmed eyepiece"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "a bucket of Unholy Water"
[tomb] Rosie says, "(I also have 'Slow Fall' if that doesn't work)"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says (to Ebezar), "ha"
DM says, "Both of you manage to grab at a wall or something"
[Crows-Nest] Clem says (to Ebezar), "Yay."
DM says, "and drop to the floor unharmed"
Clem says, "Holy fucking G'taar!"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo asks, "which floor?"
DM says, "at the north end of a 30' by 30' room"
Crumbly exclaims, "Ah, a fortuitous fall!"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "In the middle?"
DM says, "I have a beautiful picture, hold on"
[Crows-Nest] nothings says (to DM), "I'm not sure this is really the time for your headshots"
[tomb] Clem says, "Click on 1.wav a few times while you're waiting."
DM | http://hamesucken.com/tomb/13a.jpg
[tomb] nothings says, "that joke never gets old. no wait, it does, but the WAV doesn't"
[tomb] DM says, "You got dumped out at the middle of the north wall, yeah"
DM says, "The chamber is bare but for three conspicuous chests, each about 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 3 feet deep. One appears to be of gold, the second is silvery, and the third is constructed of hardy oak banded with thick bronze."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "wait, wait, I remember this one from the merchant of venice"
Crumbly says, "Well, they're trapped. I don't have to search them to know that."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Low gold?"
[tomb] DM says, "Also, I think you need to make a will save to look at that art"
Paulie says, "I suppose we should follow."
Paulie climbs up Grog and into the crawlway.
DM says, "Everyone except for Crumbly and Rosie is still out in the corridor, I assume"
DM says (to Paulie), "This sphere was at waist level, so you can make it on your own"
DM says, "Well, waist of a human"
Crumbly says, "It's a pity the third one wasn't lead. Then I'd know which one I had to open."
Ebezar says, "I shall follow as well."
Clem says (to Paulie), "You don't even have to crawl!"
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "how much longer are we going?"
Crumbly says, "So, I want to check every chest for traps. Taking ten for 36."
[tomb] DM asks, "I dunno, how much longer do people have in them?"
[tomb] Paulie says, "I'm still fine, personally."
[tomb] DM says, "This can be the last room"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I have no other plans for today."
[tomb] Clem says, "I can stay a while" [tspoil] DM asks, "Hmm, do these count as traps?"
[tspoil] DM says, "I think not"
[tspoil] K-Y says, "Silver one is mechanical, at least"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "I don't have the module handy, but I imagine it would say explicitly if they're considered trapped"
DM says, "None of them are trapped"
Crumbly says, "You're lying."
DM says, "(in the most surprising twist of the whole adventure)"
Crumbly asks, "OK, OK. Someone want to detect magic here?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I probably need to go soon."
Crumbly says, "I bet there's a spell that makes two of them disappear when you open one or something."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "it turns out that due to wacky miscommunication, this is actually the tomb of horas, not the tomb of horrors"
Paulie drops out of the crawlspace in time to oblige.
[tomb] Rosie says, "I'm OK with being put on autopilot, though."
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "so everyone open the chests and then start dancing"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "hee"
[tomb] DM says, "Why don't we make this the last room, and someone can take over Rosie if/when it's necessary"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "that's fine with me"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Sure."
Paulie detects away.
Ebezar crawls into the room just too late to detect magic.
DM says, "You detect no away"
DM asks, "What are you detecting, magic?"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Yeah."
DM asks, "Also, everyone is in here by now, right?"
Clem says, "Yup."
DM says, "There is magic in here"
Crumbly says, "Keep concentrating"
Paulie exclaims, "Arr, here be magic!"
DM says, "The left and right chests"
Ebezar says, "Intriguing."
Rosie asks, "Well, should we open the middle one, then?"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Strength of the auras?"
Crumbly says, "Yeah."
[tomb] DM says, "Very strong"
Clem says, "If there's no trap, sounds good to me."
Crumbly says, "I'll wait for the end of the magic report first though"
Ebezar says, "unless the middle one triggers the left and right ones."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Also, is it the chests or the contents?"
Rosie says, "No detectable trap, of course."
[tomb] DM says, "You can't tell"
[tomb] DM says, "You can make a Spellcraft check to try to tell what school of magic (I should have made you do this before for the statue)"
Paulie rolls 1d20+1: 16+1 | 17
Paulie rolls 1d20+1: 9+1 | 10
[tomb] Ebezar says, "is that open to me as well? I'll toss a detect magic in there if needed."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "All you get is the location, I guess, not which of the objects in the same location is producing it."
[tomb] DM says, "You can't tell what school"
[tomb] DM says, "Ebezar could try too"
[tomb] Paulie says (to Crumbly), "Yeah, wasn't sure if I could tell the difference between 'sinside the chest' and 'around the chest' as locations."
Ebezar rolls 1d20+12: 15+12 | 27
Crumbly says, "OK. Standing by to open middle chest."
DM says, "The left one is Conjuration"
Paulie says, "Tharr be very strong auras on those two chests, but I can't tell ye what flavor."
Ebezar rolls 1d20+12: 9+12 | 21
DM says, "So is the right one"
Paulie looks around the rest of the room slowly, while the spell is still active.
Ebezar says, "Very interesting. The chests have spells of conjuration."
Rosie asks, "Like, something would be summoned if they're opened?"
[tomb] DM says, "Yay, Ebezar got to do something"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Left is gold; right is bronze?"
Crumbly says, "Or maybe there's already a summoned creature inside them."
DM says (to Paulie), "You don't notice anything out of the ordinary"
Rosie says, "Well, let's see."
Crumbly asks, "It think I'd be able to detect a triggered spell as a trap, but dangerous contents?"
Rosie, checking to make sure everyone's ready, opens the center (silver) chest.
Paulie says, "Could be a gnome barbarian waiting to rip our heads off."
DM says, "You open the chest"
DM says, "Inside there is nothing but a small crystal box"
DM says, "containing a silver ring"
Crumbly says, "Oho, a metal loop."
Crumbly says, "But wait, it didn't register with your spell."
Rosie asks, "Is it magical?"
Paulie looks at it again, to be sure.
Crumbly says, "So it's not magic. Unless it's got that aura thing."
DM says, "OK, the ring is magic"
Crumbly says, "Huh."
Paulie says, "Nay, it be magic."
[tomb] Eolo says, "(it's possible for the spell to fail to penetrate whatever, I guess)"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "True."
Rosie asks, "Can you tell what type?"
[tomb] Paulie says, "'1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead'"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Ah."
Paulie rolls 1d20+1: 8+1 | 9
josh_g has arrived.
Ebezar rolls 1d20+12: 7+12 | 19
Paulie says, "Nay."
Ebezar squints at the ring.
DM says (to Ebezar), "Abjuration"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g asks, "what'd I miss? Is anyone dead yet?"
Ebezar exclaims, "Aha: what the DM said!"
[Crows-Nest] Paulie says, "Alas, no."
[Crows-Nest] josh_g asks, "impaled? skewered? fried?"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "rats"
[Crows-Nest] Ebezar says, "we did get arrows in us"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "How strong?"
Rosie asks, "Well, shall we try the other chests?"
Crumbly says, "I suspect this is the ring we need for the sacrifice in that clue."
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "on the other hand, hooray, I didn't miss the important parts"
[tomb] DM says, "Pretty weak"
Clem says, "Hey, could be."
Paulie says, "Aye, but be prepared."
Grog readies his greataxe.
Rosie says, "OK, let's go for the bronze one first."
Crumbly goes back into the crawlway
Rosie steadies herself, opens the chest.
Paulie hides behind Grog.
DM | http://hamesucken.com/tomb/13d.jpg
Ebezar raises his hands in prime casting position which, incidentally, can cover his face if needed.
DM says, "Okey dokey!"
DM says, "Let's see where you all are"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says (to DM), "wait, this just says "you're totally fucked""
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "hey, I was right"
DM says, "Crumbly went back to the crawlway"
DM says, "Grog is in front with Rosie, Paulie's behind Grog"
Clem says, "One arm, two arm... hey, no problem."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "to queue up: I'd like to take a quick knowledge (religion) to find out more about this thing"
Rosie asks, "Abjuration doesn't cover 'control the scary monster', does it?"
DM says, "(I'm slightly afk)"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "ha ha"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I wonder why I wasn't able to find a tra on that chest."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "trap" [tspoil] K-Y asks, "So what do these stats translate to?"
[tomb] josh_g says, "maybe it wasn't a trap. maybe he was just crammed in there waiting to pop out"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "That works."
[tomb] josh_g says, "sproing!"
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "So, skeleton at least matches the picture, just like four-arms did. What's up with the naga, though?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Presumably we'd have to make it past the statue first."
[tomb] Paulie says, "Maybe we need to activate the gargoyle statue correctly get find the naga." [tspoil] K-Y says, "Also, total inconsistency there"
DM says, "Ebezar is slightly back, I assume"
Clem asks, "In the marching order?"
DM says, "Yeah"
Clem says, "I believe so."
DM says, "and Clem is near the front"
DM says, "along with Finn and Kong I assume"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Is there a surprise round, or should we just roll for initiative?"
DM asks, "Am I missing anyone?"
Clem says, "I totally forget but that sounds fine to me."
[tomb] DM says, "You're surprised"
[tomb] Clem says, "Oh we are so not"
[tomb] Rosie laughs.
[tomb] Eolo says, "hee hee"
[tomb] Clem says, "If we were in the tomb of very small kobolds we'd be surprised."
[tomb] Paulie says, "Man, and Grog was even standing at the ready."
DM says, "This thing is really big, by the way, probably 9' tall"
[tomb] Eolo says, "a little hurt, a little saddened, but not *surprised*"
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "can I be knowledgeable while surprised?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "hee hee"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "That means 'Large'?"
[tomb] DM says, "Yep"
[tomb] DM says (to Ebezar), "You can make your check when you go in turn"
Crumbly says, "Bludgeoning weapons, guys."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "all righty"
Crumbly says, "Let me know when you're done."
DM says, "OK, the thing takes a swipe at Rosie"
[tomb] Paulie says (to #belated), "..Rosie Abjuration can cover 'keep the scary monster from escaping the chest'."
[tomb] Paulie says, "As well as 'prevent the guys with detection spells from detecting the monster inside the chest'."
Crumbly says, "If it casts spells, I'll toss in a tanglefoot bag. Otherwise I'm sitting this out."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "pardon me while I keep reminding myself 'no necromancy spells'"
[tomb] DM says, "Sorry, still distracted IRL"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "if people want, I can try to bubble this guy"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "buble?"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "er, bubble?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Resilient Sphere"
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "put a sphere around him for 9 minutes"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "right"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I plan to try to disarm it."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "And then we run away without checking the third chest?"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "So, it's time to ask the big question: fight or flee?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "For which it would be nice to be Large, I guess."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "we'd have nine minutes to check the third chest if I could bubble it"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "If he's just an ordinary skeleton, albeit from something big, he might not be so tough."
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Rosie), "if I can go first, I can enlarge you"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Shall we try that?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Let's just try bashing him first." [tspoil] K-Y says, "People are so eager to keep trying when it comes to chests"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "And he might have another clue or a collar or something."
[tomb] Clem says, "Oh, enlarging sounds good."
[tomb] josh_g says, "I got an email about that"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Enlarging has its downside."
[tomb] Clem says, "Heh."
DM says, "Aw, it just gets her, even with the barkskin"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "It would mean a +4 on my disarm attempt, and later bonuses to, uh, damage?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "to damage, yeah"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "and the dex minus I can offset with a cat's grace"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Your AC and dex go down"
DM says, "since she's flatfooted"
Rosie says, "Curse my non-nimble-enough feet."
[Crows-Nest] (from Paulie) DM says, "Anyway, she's dead. Roll for init."
[Crows-Nest] Clem says, "Heh."
Rosie says (to DM), "You're just getting back at me for dodging all your arrows."
DM says, "For 12 damage"
[tomb] DM says, "Ha ha"
[tomb] Clem waits for the rend. [tspoil] Eolo says (to K-Y), "#belated it's CR 9"
[tomb] josh_g asks (of Crumbly), "do you have no missile weapon at all?" [tspoil] Eolo says, "so it shouldn't all that tough an encounter"
Crumbly says, "Note that undead are immune to critical hits and mind-effecting magic, but can be hurt by healing magic."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I have a hand crossbow. I don't think it's possible to hurt it with it."
DM says, "So let's do some initiative rolling"
[tomb] DM says, "Sorry again for the delay"
Rosie rolls 1d20+5 for init: 7+5 | 12
Clem rolls 1d20 for init: 7 | 7
Paulie rolls 1d20+8 for init: 6+8 | 14
[tomb] josh_g says, "oh yeah, I guess it needs to be bludgeoning"
Ebezar rolls 1d20+3: 16+3 | 19
[tomb] josh_g says, "maybe a sling would've worked"
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "so: embiggening or not?"
Grog rolls 1d20+6 for init: 16+6 | 22
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Yeah, let's see what happens. What's the dex penalty?"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Rosie has the flurry of blows thing, right?"
DM says, "Finn"
[tomb] Clem says, "Seems like that would be a great bludgeoning weapon if enlarged."
[tomb] Rosie says, "I do."
DM rolls 1d20: 11 | 11
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Because its damage is 1d4, and skeletons have DR 5/bludgeoning"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "And, like, you can't put a fowling rod into a hand crossbow. They don't fit."
DM rolls 1d20+2: 5+2 | 7
[tomb] Paulie asks, "So before we do anything: are we fighting or fleeing?"
DM says, "That was Kong"
Clem says (to Kong), "Stick with me, buddy."
DM says, "I think that's everyone"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Fighting, at least first."
DM says, "Grog goes first"
[tomb] Clem says, "If we get beaten up, Paulie and I can Dimension Door people out."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Was the 11 for Finn or the skeleton?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Back to the corridor of spheres, maybe."
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Rosie), "see what your fists' damage goes to when large"
[tomb] DM says, "11 was Finn"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Which roll was the skeleton?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I guess I should really roll initiative too, just in case."
Crumbly rolls 1d20+5: 7+5 | 12
[tomb] Rosie says, "2d8, looks like."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Where is the skeleton in init?"
[tomb] DM says, "The seleton is last :("
[tomb] Paulie says, "In that case, Grog holds until some spellcasting gets into action."
DM says, "OK, Ebezar"
[tomb] Clem says, "Okay, this boney dude is not going to get another chance to move."
Ebezar casts Enlarge Person on Rosie. The sound effect from the Superfriends' Indian Chief is heard.
[tomb] Rosie says, "Hee"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Note that I'll be hasting, if anyone wants to let that affect their choice of actions."
DM says, "*fwoop*"
Crumbly calls out "Don't forget about turning, guys!" from the safety of the crawlspace
[tomb] Ebezar says, "definitely the bludgeoners should wait."
DM says, "Paulie"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "oh, also, my knowledge roll"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "What's the dex penalty?"
Ebezar rolls 1d20+17: 5+17 | 22
[tomb] Ebezar says, "(trying to figure out anything unusual about this creature)"
[tomb] Eolo says, "-2 dex"
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Rosie), "+2 to str, -2 to dex, -1 to hit"
Paulie hastes himself, Rosie, Grog, Clem, Finn, and Ebezar.
[tomb] Ebezar says, "and -1 to AC"
[tomb] Eolo says, "additional -1 ac from becoming larger"
[tomb] Eolo says, "yeah"
[tomb] Paulie says, "And now Grog can unhold."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Is he within a five-foot-step of reaching the skeleton?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "It's effectively -2 to AC, because you get the -1 size penalty and the -1 to your dex modifier"
DM says (to Ebezar), "Hmm, you think it's acting kind of energetically for a skeleton"
DM says, "Grog's turn"
Ebezar passes that information to the others in the higher chirp of a hasted person. [tspoil] Eolo says, "wow, harsh"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "OR, no." [tspoil] Eolo asks, "you're not going to tell him it's not undead?"
[tomb] Paulie asks (of DM), "Grog's close enough to attack without using a move action, right?" [tspoil] DM asks, "Just from a knowledge roll?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Size modifier affects attack rolls, not AC"
[tomb] DM says (to Paulie), "Yeah" [tspoil] Eolo says, "well, it's not even the right knowledge roll category"
[tspoil] josh_g says, "I thought that was a pretty good hint"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "you're supposed to be able to get monster info with a DC of 10 + HD"
Grog steps forward, engages his rage, and launches a full attack with his greataxe. [tspoil] DM says, "He made a religion roll, so I told him maybe it didn't look all that undead"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "but anyway, I don't think it'll make a huge difference"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Can any attack be a disarm attempt?"
DM says, "Roll some dice!"
Crumbly asks, "Woo! And he's enlarged too, right?"
Grog rolls 1d20+17: 17+17 | 34
DM says, "Just Rosie is enlarged, I thought"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Yes"
DM says, "That hits"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "it's time to Engage the Rage"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Just Rosie's enlarged, AFAIK."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "although there are special rules for doing it unarmed"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "So, even with Flurry of Blows?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "you can disarm "as a melee attack""
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I don't see offhand why not."
Grog rolls 1d12+11: 9+11 | 20 [tspoil] DM says, "Aw, a greataxe is slashing"
[tomb] Paulie says, "That's slashing, so DR probably applies."
DM says, "You get him right in the ribs"
[tomb] Eolo exclaims, "he's all ribs!"
DM says, "But yeah, some of the attack goes through the ribs"
Grog rolls 1d20+12: 10+12 | 22
[tomb] Ebezar says, "sprightly ribs"
Grog rolls 1d12+11: 9+11 | 20
DM says, "That hits too"
DM asks, "That's it for Grog, right?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I don't know if this is a normal skeletonized monster or not, bt the usual DR for skeletons is 5."
[tomb] Clem says, "Wow, despite being a skeleton, this thing seems slightly less inhumanly powerful than the gargoyle."
[tomb] Paulie says, "One more, from haste."
[tomb] Clem says, "Which is good."
[tomb] DM says, "Yikes"
Grog rolls 1d20+17: 6+17 | 23
Grog rolls 1d12+11: 5+11 | 16
DM says, "Hit"
[tomb] Clem says, "That's some damage there."
DM says, "OK, Finn's turn"
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "you sunk my battleship"
Grog swings like a batter trying to knock this one out of the park.
DM asks, "What, you get one more?"
Eolo says, "he's hasted"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Just the thre."
DM says, "I thought the third one was the hasted one"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Three. I believe."
[tomb] Paulie says, "No, just the three."
[tomb] Clem says, "I guess Finn would probably Call Lightning."
[tomb] Eolo says, "oh, whoops"
[tomb] Eolo says, "WWFD"
DM says, "Actually, Rosie's next"
[tomb] Rosie says, "The 'swings like a batter' was roleplaying."
[tomb] Clem asks, "How was he doing multiple lightnings last time?"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Right."
Rosie attempts to disarm the skeleton with Improved Disarm.
[tomb] Rosie asks, "It has two weapons?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Oh, it lasts for 9 minutes, neat."
[tomb] Paulie says, "He had a wand, I believe."
[tomb] Eolo says (to Clem), "he was doing one per round, I believe"
[tomb] DM says, "It has two weapons"
[tomb] Rosie says, "OK, I'm going for the right-hand weapon first."
[tomb] DM says, "OK, let's see how this works"
[tomb] DM says, "You're improved, so he doesn't get an AoO"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I believe this is a constested attack roll."
[tomb] DM asks, "Yeah, so what is an attack roll? Just BAB?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "Rosie still gets a -4 to hit for being unarmed against an armed opponent, which is offset by the improved disarm bonus"
[tomb] DM asks, "or a melee attack?"
[tomb] Rosie asks (of Eolo), "Really?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/specialAttacks.htm#disarm, step 2"
[tomb] Paulie asks (of Eolo), "Is a monk with her natural weapons really unarmed?"
[tomb] Eolo says (to DM), "looks to me like it's a totally normal attack roll"
[tomb] DM asks (of Eolo), "Meaning melee?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "yeah"
[tomb] DM says, "OK, it made its roll"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Opposed attack roll"
[tomb] DM says (to Rosie), "Show me what you got"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "So I'm normally +13, -2 for enlarge, +4/-4 for improved/unarmed ?"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "The -4 penalty is really for using a "light weapon"."
[tomb] Eolo asks (of Rosie), "are you flurrying?"
[tomb] DM says (to Crumbly), "or unarmed"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Yeah."
[tomb] Eolo asks, "or is that included in the +13?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "flurry of disarm"
[tomb] Eolo says, "otherwise that sounds right"
[tomb] Rosie says, "13 is both my normal and the flurry attack."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "And her unarmed strike is light regardless of whether it counts as armed or not."
[tomb] Clem says, "This being a skeleton, you could actually pull its arms off."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "that's what happened to the gargoyle statue"
[tomb] DM says (to Crumbly), "Right"
Rosie rolls 1d20+11: 19+11 | 30
[tomb] Eolo says, "nice"
[tomb] Clem says, "Woo!"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Excellent."
DM says, "Rosie rips a giant scimitar right out of the skeleton's hand"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Might as well go for the other one." [tspoil] Eolo says, "now you have to decide what its unarmed damage is, I guess"
[tomb] Clem says, "Sure."
[tomb] Clem asks, "How many attacks do you have?"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "3+1"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "When an unarmed person disarms, they wind up armed with the weapon. But you can drop it as a free action if you want."
[tomb] Rosie says, "4, with haste."
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Can I toss it to one side?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Tossing it behind you would work."
[tomb] Clem says, "Assuming we all make our reflex saves."
[tomb] DM says, "You toss it behind you, severing Clem's head"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Hee hee"
[tomb] DM says, "OK, so, next attack"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Same thing:"
Rosie rolls 1d20+11: 12+11 | 23
[tomb] DM asks, "It's not at a smaller bonus for being your second attack?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Not yet."
[tomb] DM asks, "or is that part of the flurry thing?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Yeah, with haste, I'm at +13/+13/+13/+8"
DM says, "The skeleton saw that one coming and rips its hand back"
[tomb] Rosie says, "One more disarm attempt."
Rosie rolls 1d20+11: 1+11 | 12
DM says, "Now it looks like it can disarm you"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Normally, but not with Improved."
[tomb] DM says, "Oho"
DM says, "OK, third try doesn't work either"
[tomb] Eolo says, "er, plus she's unarmed anyway"
[tomb] DM says, "Well, she still has that scimitar in one hand"
[tomb] Eolo says, "oh, I thought she dropped it"
DM says, "Unless she tossed it"
[tomb] Rosie says, "No, I dropped it behind me."
[tomb] DM says, "OK"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Sorry for not saying that."
[tomb] DM says, "So you get one more attack"
Rosie feints for the sword again, but then just attacks normally.
Rosie rolls 1d20+6: 11+6 | 17
DM says, "Rosie misses, so I don't have to figure out whether monks' attacks are bludgeoning"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Presumably you don't mean feint in the sense of the special attack."
[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "ha ha"
[tomb] Rosie says, "No, feint as in roleplaying ;-)"
DM says, "You get a 5' step if you want"
Rosie moves behind the skeleton so everyone else gets flanking bonus.
DM says, "Then Crumbly goes"
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "I assume a monk's unarmed strike is bludgeoning. It's not piercing or slashing, is it?"
Ebezar says, "fists are bludgeoning"
DM says, "That's more than 5'"
[tomb] DM says, "I was assuming so too"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Oh? OK, just to one side, then. So someone could step up for the flanking bonus."
[tomb] DM says, "I'm not sure you're going to be able to flank this - the chests were back by the wall"
[tomb] DM says, "But let's see how things go"
DM asks, "Crumbly, doing anything?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I was thinking to the right and left of it."
Crumbly says, "Nope"
Crumbly says, "Just kibbitzing"
DM says, "Finn"
DM says, "(controlled by Clem)"
(From Clem) Finn says, "Call Lightning!"
[tomb] Clem says, "Worked okay last time, so."
Clem says, "Lightning that deals 3d6 damage all else being equal."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "So is this how we're set up?"
[tomb] Paulie | SS
[tomb] Paulie | RSS
[tomb] Paulie | G
[tomb] Paulie | KFPC
[tomb] Paulie | E
[tomb] Paulie |
[tomb] Paulie | C
[tomb] DM says, "Sure"
[tomb] Eolo says, "Rosie actully occupies 4 squares"
[tomb] Eolo says, "I think"
[tomb] Clem asks, "The C at the back is Crumbly?"
[tomb] DM says, "Ha, true"
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "Is the skeleton's reach 10 feet?"
[tomb] DM says, "It sure looks like it"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "(as is common for Large creatures)"
[tomb] Paulie says (to Eolo), "Oh yeah."
[tomb] Paulie says (to Clem), "ANd yes."
DM says, "A bolt of lightning descends from the ceiling"
[tomb] Rosie says, "My suggestion is that Paulie and Clem switch places, so we can have a KFC in there."
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "Rosie is large too, yes?"
[tomb] Eolo says (to Rosie), "ha ha"
DM says, "and bounces right off its skull, apparently having no effect"
DM says, "Clem"
(From Clem) Finn says, "Fiddlesticks!"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "So she should also be a 2x2 square there"
[tomb] Eolo says, "yes"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Yeah."
[tomb] Clem says, "Finn is in its range, but has great AC so might as well stay where he is."
[tomb] Rosie says, "(as mentioned)"
[tomb] Clem says, "Ebezar is blocking his retreat."
Clem asks, "Ho hum, spell resistance?"
(From DM) Clem says, "Let's see if you can resist CREATE FOOD AND WATER
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Didn't someone say last time that you can freely move through friendly creatures?"
[tomb] Eolo says (to DM), "ha ha ha"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Yeah"
[tomb] DM says (to Paulie), "Yeah, as long as you're on your own square at the end of your round"
[tomb] Clem says, "Right, but not stop on top of them with a 5' -- oh, hang on, spell is only a standard action, not full-round."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "But you can't end your movement on the same space"
[tomb] Eolo says, "unless they're *really* friendly creatures"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Finn probably would retreat, yeah."
Clem says, "Okay, I'll walk up to its right-hand side to get the flanking bonus."
[tomb] Paulie says, "At least, he did last time."
Clem says, "Then slash at the thing."
DM says, "It'll get an attack of opportunity"
[tomb] Paulie asks (of Clem), "How far?"
DM says, "since you're walking through squares it can attack"
Clem says, "Hmm, okay, go for it."
Clem grits teeth etc
DM says, "It rolls a natural 20"
Clem says, "Whoops."
DM says, "but fails the threat due to the barkskin"
Clem says, "Aharr!"
DM says, "A mere 10 hp damage"
DM says, "OK, now you can attack"
Clem says, "Flaming greatsword!!"
DM says, "Just a single attack, since you had to move more than 10'"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Did it switch hands for the remaining scimitar?"
Clem rolls 1d20+10: 19+10 | 29
Crumbly says, "Hey, you drew its attack of opportunity for this turn! Feel free to mob it, guys."
Clem says, "And 19 is a threat."
DM says, "You hit!"
[tomb] DM says, "Uh, sure"
Clem asks, "Oh, wait, no criticals on skeletons?"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Crumb said something about it being immune to criticals?"
Crumbly says, "Undead are generally immune to crits, yeah."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "if it's a real skeleton"
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "can we tell what caused the lightning to bounce off -- spell resistance or whatever?"
Crumbly says, "Due to their vital organs not really being vital any more."
[tomb] Rosie taunts the skeleton, "If you were a *real* skeleton, you'd resist my critical hits!" [tspoil] DM says, "Ha, it can't be criticaled due to being a construct"
DM says, "Well, roll anyway"
Clem says, "Rolling for the critical:"
Clem rolls 1d20+10: 11+10 | 21
DM says, "No critical"
Clem says, "And damage (assuming fire works):"
Clem rolls 3d6+5: 3 2 2+5 | 12 [tspoil] DM says, "Looks like fire works"
Clem says, "Bah, rubbish." [tspoil] Eolo says, "yeah"
[tomb] Clem says, "Er, maybe that's assuming too much."
DM says, "All righty, that's some damage"
DM says, "Kong"
[tomb] Clem says, "2d6+5 sword, 1d6 fire, that was."
DM says, "He could step up and attack it, or back off"
Clem says, "Being an ape, Kong will moon the skeleton."
Clem says, "No, wait, let's say he attacks."
Crumbly says, "That's probably a move action."
Crumbly says, "And I'm sure it provokes an attack of opportunity."
Clem says, "I guess Kong can take that space in front of the thing."
[tomb] Rosie says, "If he had any AoO's left."
DM rolls 1d20+8: 10+8 | 18
[tomb] Eolo says, "Finn's ape companions are used to attacks of opportunity"
DM rolls 1d20+8: 18+8 | 26
DM rolls 1d20+3: 3+3 | 6
[tomb] Clem says, "Yikes, lots of attacks left."
DM says, "He got him with a claw"
(From Clem) Kong says, "Oook! Rar!"
[tomb] Rosie says, "That was Kong, I believe."
DM rolls 1d6+6: 3+6 | 9
DM says, "and scratches him a little"
DM says, "Now the giant skeleton"
DM says, "I guess Rosie is the obvious target, being huge and having just taken its scimitar"
[tomb] Clem asks, "What's the flanking bonus, by the way?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "+2"
DM says, "It rolls a 1"
[tomb] DM says, "Man, this sucks"
DM says, "Next round"
DM says, "Ebezar"
[tomb] Rosie says, "You had your fun last session ;-)"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Also, how would Kong use his Grapple? Does he have to hit with both claws?" [tspoil] Eolo says, "I think it can haste itself as a free action"
[tspoil] DM says, "I was just looking at Su abilities in the SRD"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "it doesn't say that explicitly, but the other golem powers (breath weapon and slow) are free actions"
[tspoil] DM says, "and it says they're standard actions"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "so I would guess this isn't called out just due to it being an abbreviated listing"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "well, fair enough"
[tspoil] DM says, "OK, I'll give it to it for free, since it could use it"
[tspoil] Eolo says, "(but yeah, any ability not said to be otherwise is definitely a standard action)"
DM says, "The skeleton seems to be moving faster now, btw" [tspoil] DM says, "Too late"
Clem says, "wtf"
[tomb] Ebezar asks (of Rosie), "you want the cat's grace?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "That'd certainly help."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Both AC and to-hit."
Ebezar ducks behind Rosie, far away from the skeleton, and casts Cat's Grace on Rosie.
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "Moving faster? What's up with that?"
DM says, "*zing*"
DM says, "Paulie"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Oh, and grab the scimitar while you're there."
DM says, "Oh, it's touch"
DM says, "Hmm"
DM says, "Yeah, you can get around the 10' reach"
DM says, "Paulie's turn"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "I believe you roll for cat's grace to see how much dex you get?"
[tomb] Eolo says, "not in 3.5"
[tomb] DM says, "Just +4"
[tomb] Eolo says, "it's just a straight +4"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Oho."
[tomb] Rosie says, "OK."
[tomb] Eolo says, "(but it only lasts minutes instead of hours)"
Paulie flings an acid arrow. They've served him well in the past.
[tomb] Rosie says, "Rockin'."
Paulie rolls 1d20+11: 16+11 | 27
[tomb] Paulie says, "Touch attack, if it matters." [tspoil] Eolo says, "hunh, and no SR"
DM says, "*splooshssssssss" [tspoil] DM says, "Yep"
Paulie rolls 2d4: 4 2 | 6
DM says, "OK, Grog" [tspoil] DM says, "8 on 1 is really no fair"
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "oh, hey, does the skeleton moving faster remind me of anything?"
[tomb] DM says (to Ebezar), "Roll Spellcraft"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Would it provoke an AoO for Grog to get into position to take advantage of flanking?"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "If the guy is flanked, is he flanked for everyone? Or just for the opposite-sides people?"
[tomb] DM asks, "Does Grog have to flank it, or can it just be in a flanked state?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "timing"
[tomb] Eolo says, "he has to flank it, but arguably Rosie being large means he does"
Ebezar rolls 1d20+12: 10+12 | 22
[tomb] Paulie says, "I dunno. Consider that a part of my question. :)"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "(sorry for the delay. I've been Eli-herding)"
[tomb] Paulie says (to Eolo), "Yeah, that makes sense."
[tomb] DM says, "He could step to the side and flank it with Rosie"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Only the people doing the flanking get the flanking bonus."
[tomb] DM says, "although that would mean Paulie was exposed"
[tomb] Paulie asks (of DM), "Would that cost an AoO?"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Oh, I forgot -- Paulie would like to retreat as the move part of his action :)"
[tomb] DM says, "Not if he made it his 5' step, I think"
DM says (to Ebezar), "It occurs to you that often creatures move faster when they've been Hasted"
[tomb] DM says, "Yeah, he can make it his 5' step"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "And the flanking criterion is: the line joining the centers of the two flankers passes through opposite sides or opposite corners of the opponent's space"
Grog steps around the right, then attacks.
[tomb] DM says, "Oh, the centers? Then he won't flank"
[tomb] DM says, "He could go all the way around to flank, but he'll get an AoO then"
[tomb] Paulie says, "That's a +2 to attack, or a -2 to -- oh. OK, then I guess he just attacks normally."
[tomb] DM says, "and will only get one attack"
[tomb] DM says, "OK"
Grog rolls 1d20+15: 15+15 | 30
[tomb] Crumbly says, "There's a little picture in the PHB showing various configurations. Two people in a knight's move around an opponent don't flank."
Grog rolls 1d12+11: 6+11 | 17
DM says, "Grog smash"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "But I haven't been following this well enough to know the relative positions here."
[tomb] Paulie says, "Whoops, should ahve been +17 to hit, as if it mattered :)"
Grog rolls 1d20+12: 8+12 | 20
Grog rolls 1d12+11: 2+11 | 13
[tomb] Crumbly asks, "Does someone want to do another diagram?"
Grog rolls 1d20+17: 12+17 | 29
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "undead can be affected by ray of exhaustion, yes?"
Grog rolls 1d12+11: 3+11 | 14
[tomb] Ebezar says (to Crumbly), "sure"
Paulie SMACK CRUSH SMASH CRACK
DM says, "All righty"
DM says, "Rosie"
Rosie does another disarm attack or two.
[tomb] Crumbly says, "I dunno about that."
[tomb] Rosie says, "With the dex bonus and the flank, I'm up to +17."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Wait, +15."
[tomb] Crumbly says, "If it requires a Fortitude save, then they're immune"
[tomb] Rosie says, "sorry."
Rosie rolls 1d20+15: 5+15 | 20
[tomb] Ebezar says, "drat"
DM says, "That one fails"
[tomb] Rosie exclaims, "Again!"
Rosie rolls 1d20+15: 2+15 | 17
[tomb] Rosie says, "geez, I cannot roll any more."
DM says, "That too"
[tomb] Rosie says, "One more"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "Yeah, looks like ray of exhaustion won't affect undead."
Rosie rolls 1d20+15: 5+15 | 20
[tomb] Ebezar says, "I knew they were immune to cold, but not general fortitude saves"
[tomb] Eolo says, "also, undead tend to be immune to ability damage"
DM says, "No good"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Good googly moogly."
DM says, "Crumbly's turn"
[tomb] Crumbly says, "It's because they have no constitution."
[tomb] Rosie says, "One more normal attack."
Rosie rolls 1d20+10: 12+10 | 22
DM says, "Oops"
DM asks (of Rosie), "That includes bonuses from Cat's Grace and stuff?"
[tomb] Rosie says, "Yeah"
DM says, "It barely dodges out of the way"
Rosie grrrrs.
DM says, "Now it really is Crumbly's turn"
[tomb] Clem asks, "At least AC23, eh?"
Crumbly asks, "I poke my head out and say 'How are you guys doing in there? Gonna be done soon?"
DM says, "Finn's turn"
[tomb] Clem asks, "If Finn casts another spell, does the lightning still stick around?"
[tomb] DM says, "I think so"
[tomb] DM says, "I mean, he needs to actually use a standard action to throw another bolt"
[tomb] Eolo says, "yeah"
Clem says, "The lightning didn't work last time, so Finn will touch Kong and Magic Fang his claws."
[tomb] Eolo says, "right"
[tomb] DM says, "but it stays around in the background"
DM says, "All righty"
DM says, "Clem"
[tomb] Clem asks, "Hmm, attack or try to turn?"
[Crows-Nest] Eolo says, "hilarity ensues as caster mixes up Magic Fang and Magic Fingers"
[tomb] Clem asks, "I get +2 for flanking, right?"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "How's your CHA?"
[tomb] Clem says, "Er, passable."
[tomb] DM says, "+2, yep"
Clem says, "Aw, screw it. FULL ATTACK" [tspoil] DM says, "Phew"
[tomb] Clem says, "I think this is probably too tough to turn."
[tomb] Clem says, "If it were six little skeletons, sure."
[tomb] Clem asks, "Any attack bonus from haste?"
[tomb] DM says, "+1"
Clem rolls 1d20+13: 4+13 | 17
[tomb] DM says, "Plus one extra attack"
DM says, "That misses"
[tomb] Rosie asks, "Wait, there's an attack bonus for haste?"
Clem says, "Bah."
Clem rolls 1d20+13: 5+13 | 18
Clem says, "Aw man."
[tomb] DM | A hasted creature gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
DM says, "That misses"
[tomb] Rosie says, "I haven't been including that, duh."
Clem rolls 1d20+8: 2+8 | 10
Clem swings wildly!
DM says, "That misses"
Clem says, "I almost hit somebody back in town, though."
DM says, "Kong"
[tomb] Eolo says, "you probably forgot to call on the power of G'taar"
[tomb] Clem says, "That guy, always wants to be called on at awkward moments."
Clem says, "Kong will bite and claw and stuff."
Clem says, "He's +1 to attack and damage now."
Clem says, "With claws, anyway."
DM says, "OK"
Clem asks, "Are you rolling for Kong again?"
DM says, "Oh, I guess I rolled this last time"
DM rolls 1d20+9: 10+9 | 19
DM rolls 1d20+9: 7+9 | 16
DM rolls 1d20+3: 10+3 | 13
DM says, "Three misses"
DM says, "Skeleton goes for Rosie again"
[tomb] Clem says, "Gee, maybe those first few hits were flukes."
[Crows-Nest] nothings says, "I swear everybody's been rolling d10 for their attacks"
[tomb] Paulie asks, "How badly is Rosie hurt?"
DM says, "and rolls a 2"
DM says, "Next round"
DM says, "Ebezar"
[tomb] DM says, "Losing a weapon sux"
Ebezar exclaims, "Eat hot flaming scorching ray, you monster!"
Clem is standing off to the side, whew.
[tomb] DM says, "Mmmm, hot flaming scorching ray"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "ranged touch attack, +1 for being close in for point blank shot, no shoot-into-melee minuses"
Ebezar rolls 1d20+8: 3+8 | 11
Ebezar rolls 1d20+8: 16+8 | 24
[tomb] Ebezar says, "so hopefully one of the two rays"
DM says, "One ray misses, the other one bounces right off it"
[tomb] Clem says, "It's immune to spells or energy or something."
DM says, "Paulie"
[tomb] Clem says, "Although the acid arrow worked okay."
[tomb] Ebezar asks, "can I tell if it's warded against spells or the like?"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Did the acid hurt it befo-- timing."
Paulie rolls 2d4: 4 1 | 5
[tomb] Paulie says, "That's the first arrow, from last round."
[tomb] DM says, "Righo"
DM says, "Ssssssss"
[tomb] DM says (to Ebezar), "You could detect magic next round"
[tomb] Rosie says, "(I'm periodically afk, but checking in for when it's my turn)"
[tomb] Clem says, "So when they said Tomb Of Horrors, they actually meant Of Monsters Immune To Everything Except Acid."
[tomb] Rosie says, "Hee"
[tomb] Paulie says, "And since nothing has suggested that acid's not working, I'll fire another one."
Paulie rolls 1d20+11: 2+11 | 13
DM says, "That one misses wildly"
Clem asks, "Touch attack?"
DM says, "Good point"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Huh. I guess its touch AC isn't quite as pitiful as I'd hoped."
DM says, "It hits wildly"
Clem says, "Yay"
Ebezar says, "ha ha ha"
[tomb] Paulie says, "Ha."
[tomb] Paulie asks, "Does that alter Ebezar's first ray?"
Paulie rolls 2d4: 4 2 | 6
[tomb] DM says, "Nope"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "pity. we could have watched the first ray bounce off as well"
[tomb] DM says, "Oh, yes, the first ray did bouce off instead"
DM says, "You get it right in the neck"
DM says, "and it collapses to the ground"
Paulie steps another five feet back with his move action.
Rosie blinks.
(From DM) Skeleton clatter clatter
Clem says, "Go team!"
Rosie exclaims, "Let's open the next chest before our spells wear off!"
Ebezar says, "While we are still in fighting trim we might want to test the third chest."
Clem says, "Er, party!"
Crumbly exclaims, "We rule!"
Clem says, "Chest! Chest! Chest!"
Rosie says, "Let's flank it first."
Clem says, "Ha ha ha."
DM says, "That's about it for me"
Paulie says (to Paulie), "Aye. Grog may tire if we wait too long."
[tomb] Ebezar says, "also, this is me being glad I dropped a standard scorching ray on the guy instead of an empowered one"
Crumbly asks, "Anything in the chest, though?"
DM says, "But we can pick it up from here next time"
DM says, "Nothing in the chest"
Crumbly asks, "Was the skeleton wearing a jewelled collar?"
DM says, "Nope"
[tomb] Clem says, "In next week's episode, we carefully flank the chest before opening it."
[tomb] Clem says, "To reveal a fireball with 30' radius."
DM says, "Thanks for being patient while the mud had issues and later when I was distracted"
[tomb] Paulie says, "OK, let's not do anything that could waste any rounds of enlarge, cat's grace, or rage between the end of this episode and the start of the next."
[tomb] DM says, "Ha ha"
[tomb] Ebezar says, "agree"
DM says, "Nice work today, no one got killed"
Eolo says, "you'll have to kill two people next time to keep on track"
DM says, "Sorry about the stupid secret door / arrow trap section"
(From Clem) DM says, "Apart from the slow poison you all breathed in the last room without realising."
Paulie says, "Except for the nine-foot skeleton."
Crumbly says, "Of course, we weren't facing the Tormentor this time."
Crumbly says (to DM), "Hey, not your fault."
Crumbly says, "It's old-school." [tspoil] nothings asks, "why was it only getting one attack if it was hasted?"
[tspoil] nothings asks, "or do I need to recap more?"
[tspoil] DM says, "Ah, shit"
[tspoil] DM says, "It wouldn't have mattered anyway, though"
[tspoil] DM says, "I'll post on the forum about scheduling the next session"
[tspoil] nothings says, "yeah, they were spanking it pretty handily regardless"
Clem says, "Well, I guess that's that."
Clem says (to DM), "Thanks."
