When Anne chose to marry a foreign commoner, her parents were forced to disown her (although they still cared about her). Charles grew up in the seaside town of Lamstead with his parents, although his father was at sea much of the time. When Charles was in his late teens, his father was killed defending Castille in the war (hence the Vendetta background; see charles.txt). It wasn't long after that that he set out on his own, seeking adventure and revenge. In Ghogg's game, I had a large inventory list; would it be better if I just assumed that any reasonable item (lamp, grappling hook, gunpowder, pebbles, etc.) I wanted Charles to pull out of his pack were automatically there, or should I copy over the list? More interesting things Charles is carrying include a dagger, several throwing knives, a journal with notes from his previous adventures, and a locket. The locket contains small portraits of his parents and (hidden) a small disc of dracheneisen with an unfamiliar pattern etched into it.
