[ussura] Charles says (to GM), "Something to do with show riding dogs, I hope."
Pyotr starts to clean off his axe.

Pyotr asks, "Well, anyone need a new coat?"
Era asks (of Pyotr), "Enh?"
Alixandre says, "After this dreadful encounter, I might indeed."
Pyotr says (to Era), "Er, sorry."
Alixandre says, "Though, er, steaming hot wolf fur is not truly in fashion."
Alixandre says, "Or is it? We have been gone a while."
Raelynn asks (of Pyotr), "hey, didn't you say you had a whetstone in your pack?"
Sebastien stitch stitch
Pyotr says, "Why don't we just set up a nice fire, then."
Pyotr tosses his whetstone to Raelynn
Raelynn catches it with her eyes closed behind her back
Alixandre says, "This is quite the coincidence, another wolf attack such as this."
Pyotr says (to Alix), "True."
Charles climbs back over the wall, into the compound, leaving a trail of blood behind him.
Pyotr asks (of Era), "Can you ask the surviving wolves about it?"
Alixandre makes a futile attempt to clean his knives on the snowy ground.
Era says (to Alixandre), "Though if one of us was in danger of freezing to death, we could slice it open and stuff them inside. Odiferous, but effective."
Alixandre says, "If it were truly a matter of either do that or freeze to death, I think I might still have to consider carefully."
Sebastien wipes his rapier off on his least-favorite handkerchief and then resheathes it
Era obligingly attempts to approach one of the remaining wolves, growling and whining a little.
[ussura] GM says, "OK, let's see."
Raelynn grabs Charles' arm and sits him on a bench.
Alixandre asks (of Sebastien), "Might I borrow that handkerchief?"
[ussura] GM says, "I didn't write up a recap, but: you got here, got some information, got attacked by wolves."
Raelynn says, "Sit there, let me get a monk to look at your wounds"
Charles tries to rub some of the blood off of his body with the snow, making an increasing patch of red on the ground in the process.
Raelynn . o O ( I knew I should have paid attention to First Aid class )
Sebastien says (to Alixandre), "certainly -- I fear that its use for handkerchiefing has reached a low point, however"
Pyotr says, "Anyone here good with catgut? I could probably use some stitches on my leg."
[Crows-Nest] Era asks, "did my attempt to merely knock out, rather than kill, one or two work?"
[ussura] GM says, "The lot of you managed to dispatch the majority of them, with Era managing to convince three of them to stay still long enough for her to knock them out."
Sebastien says, "inside Alixandre and I were consulting with a gentleman who informed us that there had been a previous wolf attack on the compound in which Dreng escaped"
Gunther arrives, looking for booty.
Raelynn grabs a monk from indoors and shoves him toward Charles
Sebastien says, "unless the wolves ate him, leaving not a trace behind"
Raelynn grabs another monk for Pyotr
Sebastien says, "but that was quite some time ago, so I have no idea where Dev --"
Charles waves to the monk, smiling weakly.
Sebastien says, "ah, some more gentlemen from inside"
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "are era and i the only ones with no dramatic wouds?"
npc1 has connected.
[ussura] Sebastien says, "me neither"
npc2 has connected.
Era attempts to waken one of the unconcious wolves, keeping up her patter of wolf-talk all the while.
[ussura] Pyotr says, "Sorry, I only took one"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "after judicious expenditure of drama dice"
[ussura] Alixandre says, "I'm free of a dramatic"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "the amount of damage I took I wasn't avoiding it, so"
[ussura] Charles says, "I've got the two of them."
Raelynn directs other novices to help drag the carcasses in a pile
[Crows-Nest] (from Sebastien) Era says "So, anyone here from out of town? What? You're all here from out of town? Well, then, you'll love this -- so, two rabbits are crossing the forest, and .."
Raelynn asks, "are we burying these?"
Pyotr asks, "Dig in this dirt?"
Pyotr says, "The ground's frozen solid"
Charles asks, "Pyre?"
Pyotr says, "We'll have to burn them"
Sebastien says, "burying them? that seems a trifle unsanitary"
[Crows-Nest] Alixandre says, "ha"
Raelynn asks, "there is a cemetary over there. do you think the monks would mind burying wolves with humans?"
Pyotr says (to Raelynn), "You can dig a grave in the sping or summer, but it's winter now."
Sebastien looks a little startled at the idea.
[Crows-Nest] Gunther says (to pyotr), "explosives. lots of ecplosives."
Pyotr says, "I imagine the monks have a cave nearby for keeping anyone who dies in winter, but they don't really need wolfmeat."
[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "explosives, too"
[Crows-Nest] Pyotr says, "heh"
[ussura] GM looks up the names of the various people from last week.
[ussura] Pyotr says, "heh"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "tsk tsk unprepared GM"
[ussura] GM says, "Hey, you only gave me a week ;-)"
[ussura] (from Pyotr) An anvil falls on Raelynn's head, out of a clear sky.
[ussura] Ghogg says, "He was using his phone book as a foot stool and lost the page he was sneaking all the names off of"
[ussura] GM asks (of Raelynn), "Also, are you still planning to leave early?"
[ussura] Pyotr says (to ghogg), "excellent"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "nah"
[ussura] GM says, "Alrighty then ;-)"
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn says, "just thumped katre's head for the anvil comment"
Krenitz, holding his arm, sees Charles and other injured people enter the compound. "Thank you. If you'll follow me, I believe we all need medical attention."
Charles will go along with that.
Pyotr hops along.
Sebastien says, "not to mention sartorial attention"
Raelynn tosses Pyotr a branch. "Here- use it as a crutch, old man"
Sebastien goes inside with the others.
Alixandre says, "I do hope their needlework is up to scratch, so to speak."
Alixandre follows along.
Pyotr says, "Thanks, young wench"
Pyotr leans on his cane
Krenitz heads to a SE building, where beds are already being cleared for the wounded.
[ussura] GM laughs.
[ussura] GM asks, "That's all of you but Era?"
Era remains with the wolf, continuing some basic first-aid.
[ussura] Raelynn says, "me outside"
[ussura] GM says, "Right, leave the women with the wolves."
Raelynn debates helping Era, doing something else, or go inside and take a bath
[ussura] Pyotr says, "one of them is the wolf"
[ussura] GM says, "'you *are* the brute squad!'"
[Crows-Nest] Era says, "hee"
Raelynn asks (of Era), "(from a safe distance of the wolves) *very tentatively* is there anything I can do to help?"
[ussura] GM says, "(the wolves are still unconscious)"
Era says (abstractedly) "Bring me some warm, wet wrags - I'd like to clean the blood off, so they don't attract other predators. Other than that, there's not much we can do.
[ussura] Era says, "or rags, rather"
Raelynn says, "okay."
[ussura] Alixandre asks, "I'm a warm, snowed-upon wag; will that work?"
[ussura] GM asks, "Anyone get more than one dramatic wound?"
Raelynn runs off towards the kitchen in relief, getting lost on the way to the kitchen
[ussura] Era (to Alixandre) -b::
[ussura] Charles asks, "BTW, was it Marceau or Dautania who told us that Dreng was in the monastery?"
Raelynn says (to anyone), "Can we have some wet rags? I know you are busy with the wounded - so if you just tell me where to go..."
[ussura] GM says, "Marceau."
[ussura] Charles says (to GM), "Two."
Era says (to Raelynn), "And maybe some salve. This cut looks deep."
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "it was in the notes, right?"
[ussura] GM says, "(and there were hints about it in the papers you found under the embassy)"
Padnik says (to Raelynn), "Sure, kid."
Padnik tosses some rags to Raelynn.
[ussura] GM says, "(Padnik being the cook; Palech being the guy S&A talked to.)"
Raelynn grabs the rags.
Raelynn asks, "Oh yeah, any salve?"
Raelynn says, "anything that you would use on cuts, even stuff on livestock like horses would do"
[ussura] Charles asks, "And we know that, according to Marceau at least, Devoe left town rather less than six months ago?"
Sebastien returns inside to the main room and arranges for something to drink and a place by the fire.
Padnik says, "You might try the sick house, but I'd imagine they'll need it for the wounded--you look relatively scratch-free, to me."
[ussura] Sebastien says, "right"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "I think it was three-ish weeks when we left"
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "a few weeks. five or six?"
[ussura] Charles asks, "Mmm. So unless Devoe came here secretly that we don't know about, either Marceau lied to us, Devoe lied to Marceau, or Devoe changed his plans some time after talking to Marceau?"
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "why aren't we discussing this in character?"
Raelynn says (to padnik), "thanks anyway"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "but I agree with your assessment"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "but yeah, I think so"
Raelynn runs back to Era with the rags.
[ussura] Charles says (to Pyotr), "Because most of us don't know what Sebastien and Alix do, yet."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "we all know he isn't here"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "anyway"
Raelynn says (to Era), "I am going to need to get the salve out of the sickroom, if they can spare some"
[ussura] GM looks through the logs to make sure he doesn't contradict himself.
[ussura] Charles says, "Oh, we do? I thought we were too busy fighting wolves to exchange information."
[ussura] GM says, "(or at least if so, in such a way that I can blame it on an NPC)"
[ussura] Charles says, "In that case, it's because there are too many monks around, and I don't want to talk in front of them :)"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "I did mention immediately post-fight that Dreng had escaped"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "okay"
[ussura] Alixandre says, "and we were beginning to talk about that what with the wolves and all"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "but it is way back in my scrollback among monks and wolf-burying"
[ussura] Alixandre says, "(at the beginning of the fight last session)"
[ussura] Alixandre says, "but I don't remember how much of the beans we spilled,"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "probably we should all sit down and chat"
[ussura] Alixandre says, "where by 'beans' I mean 'wolf entrails'"
Era says (to Raelynn), "You might try the barn or tack-room, too. Thank you for being persistent - I expect you may get some strange looks."
[ussura] Sebastien says, "hee hee"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "heh"
Raelynn says (to Era), "I can't imagine the monks here are really sympathetic to the wolves at the moment"
Raelynn says, "but i will try"
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "which was it the barn/tackroom, o wise GM?"
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "or is there not one?"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "i am basically wondering whether the barn/tackroom is towards the sickroom or not"
[ussura] GM says (to Raelynn), "As you look around, you don't really see any place to house animals."
Era says (to Raelynn), "Understandable, of course, but I think these animals have been witched. It is not the wolves that are the enemy . . . we need to find who is witching them in order to stop the attacks."
Era says (to Raelynn), "If there is none to be had, so be it. They will live either way. At least until the next attack, that is."
Raelynn nods, and runs off to the sickroom anyway
Pyotr sits and waits for the monks to finish with the more serious cases.
Raelynn enters sickroom and looks around
Raelynn tiptoes over to a monk that doesn't look too busy.
Charles sits and waits for the monks to finish up with him, since he probably is one of the more serious cases.
[Crows-Nest] (from Gunther) monk says, "5 cc of kingsleaf, stat!"
Raelynn asks, "Can I have some salve for cuts?"
Sebastien hums to himself and stares into the fire.
[ussura] Era asks, "is my wolf coming around? does s/he have a name?"
[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "oops, Kingsfoil. Oh well."
Pyotr asks, "Anyone have any dice?"
Padnik has disconnected.
Padnik has connected.
Pyotr says, "I should have got a set when I was in town last."
Charles says, "I think I might."
Raelynn asks (of Pyotr), "you gamble?"
Charles points to his pack leaning on the wall by the door.
Raelynn says (to pyotr), "that's sinful!"
Pyotr says (to Raelynn), "Maybe to you"
Pyotr says, "It's just fun for me"
Raelynn says (to pyotr), "you should worry over your immortal soul"
Pyotr limps over to the pack and finds the dice.
Charles asks, "While you're over there, could you bring me my journal?"
Pyotr says (to Raelynn), "I'm more worried about my mortal carcass right now, thanks."
Pyotr grabs the journal and limps back over to Charles.
GM says (to Raelynn), "You have to wait until most of the people are treated, but manage to get ahold of some unused salve."
Charles flips through the pages with his right hand only, as his left arm is currently being stitched.
Raelynn shrugs, grabs the salve, and leaves the sickroom back to Era

Raelynn says (to Era), "here you go"
Eats_Rabbits says (to Era), "Grr mumble rar"
Pyotr asks, "You weight these dice?"
Era asks (of Eats_Rabbits), "How are you feeling?"
Raelynn crouches down and watches
Eats_Rabbits says (to Era), "Hurt"
Charles says (to Pyotr), "Not personally, but I can't account for the guy I bought 'em from. He called them the 'Lucky Sevens'."
Era asks (of Eats_Rabbits), "Do you remember what happened?"
Pyotr says, "Mmm, yeah"
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "i am guessing i don't understand a word of this conversation?"
Charles says, "Said they'll roll a seven more often than any other number."
[ussura] GM says, "Indeed ;-)"
[Crows-Nest] Sebastien says (to Charles), "ha ha ha"
[Crows-Nest] Alixandre says, "ha"
Pyotr says, "Useful. I think I'll skip playing more with you, then."
Era says (to Eats_Rabbits), "This will help the hurt go away faster, but it may sting a little <dabbing salve on cut on the wolf's head>"
Pyotr hands the dice over.
Charles asks, "Hey, do these markings mean anything to you?"
Pyotr says, "I only read Ussuran, but let me see."
Era says (to Raelynn), "Thank you very much."
Charles points at the symbols he copied from the back of the portrait.
[ussura] Eats_Rabbits says (to Era), "There's not a great way to say that in Wolf--these are not very sophisticated beasts."
Era says, somewhat reduntantly, "She says she's hurt."
[ussura] Pyotr asks (of GM), "well, do I recognize them?"
[ussura] Sebastien asks, "what portrait?"
[ussura] GM says (to Pyotr), "Nope."
Pyotr says, "No clue."
Raelynn says (to Era), "oh"
Raelynn watches the whole conversation with big eyes
[ussura] Era says, "well, yeah, but translating roughly into concepts of one syllable."
Eats_Rabbits says (to Era), "Was told... attack."
Pyotr says, "Too bad Bjorn isn't here. He had all sorts of funny symbols."
Pyotr asks, "What happened to him, anyway?"
Eats_Rabbits says (to Era), "Rabbits in walls"
Pyotr asks, "Left him in Vesten?"
Eats_Rabbits says (to Era), "Rabbits are not-rabbits."
Era asks (of Eats_Rabbits), "Who? Who said to eat the not-rabbits?"
Eats_Rabbits makes confused noises.
[ussura] Eats_Rabbits says, "Voice said"

Era says (to Eats_Rabbits), ""Not-rabits hurt wolves. Voice said wrong."
Eats_Rabbits relaxes. "Voice bad"
Era asks (of Eats_Rabbits), "Where voice?"
Charles says, "I think he wanted to go back to the old country for a while."
Eats_Rabbits says, "Voice home."
Era asks (of Eats_Rabbits), "Where home?"
Charles says, "Maybe I should ask the two... y'know. They probably do a lot of writing."
Eats_Rabbits asks, "Home is... home. Go home?"
Pyotr says, "Oh yeah. On paper that smells like flowers or something."
Eats_Rabbits asks, "Eat rabbits not not-rabbits?"
Era says (to Eats_Rabbits), "Yes. My pack find voice. My pack stop voice. <gestures to include others inside the building>"
Eats_Rabbits says, "Bad voice"
Eats_Rabbits says, "Not show not-rabbits home. Protect home."
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn says, "okay, i have a hard time following Wolf translated into English. and Raelynn is even more wide-eyed right now"
Era says (to Eats_Rabbits), "You go home. I follow. My pack stop bad voice. You not attack us."
Eats_Rabbits asks, "Your pack?"
Eats_Rabbits asks, "not-rabbit pack?"
Charles asks, "Where'd they go, anyway?"
Era says (to Eats_Rabbits), "Yes. We not attack you."
Pyotr says, "Probably taking a <shudder> bath"
Eats_Rabbits exclaims, "Not-rabbits not come to home. Protect home!"
Eats_Rabbits seems to be getting agitated.
Eats_Rabbits says, "Not-rabbit pack stop voice, not come to home, voice at home."
Raelynn looks back and forth from Era and the jumpy wolf, puts her hand on her knife, just in case Era needs help
Charles says, "Bathing this far from the ocean? They must be desperate."
[ussura] Era asks, "gm animal+resolve, keep resolve?"
[ussura] GM says, "Right."

Sebastien says (to Alixandre), "so, what now, do you think? I wonder where Devoe could have gone astray on the way here"
Era shimmers into wolf.
Raelynn has a heart attack
GM says (to Raelynn), "As Era speaks to the wolf, you see what might be a grey shadow flicker--and then two wolves stand before you instead of just the one."
Raelynn mutters under her breath, "i've heard of this kind of magic. I never thought I would see it."
Alixandre says (to Sebastien), "I am not sure. It seems that either he received updated information and turned aside, or he was waylaid."
Alixandre says (to Sebastien), "I begin to wonder if he truly never reached here."
Raelynn puts knife away. She doesn't want to accidentally hurt Era
Sebastien says, "I suppose he may have arrived here in disguise -- but I thought someone had said they had had no visitors for some time"
Era asks (of Eats_Rabbits), "See friend? Home?"
Eats_Rabbits says (to Era), "Home, yes."
Eats_Rabbits walks over, nuzzles her other two companions, who begin to stir.
Alixandre says, "Hm, that's true."
[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "I can't wait for Eats_Shoots_and_Leaves"
Raelynn looks at the wolf that she thinks is Era, wishing Era could talk
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn says, "ha"
Era pokes her nose into Raelynn's hand.
Alixandre says, "The only way I can see of picking up Devoe's trail directly then would be to back-track and look for villages where they might have stopped"
Sebastien says, "hmm yes"
Raelynn nervously scratches Era behind the ears.
Raelynn says, "this is so weird"
Sebastien says, "it occurs to me that, perhaps, someone may have *left* the monastery more recently"
Alixandre says, "An interesting idea."
Era snorts, before trotting away with Eats_Rabbits & co.
Raelynn follows
Raelynn says (to Era-wolf), "I am not sending you off alone"
[ussura] GM says, "Hmm. I believe Pyeryem sorcerors can indeed speak English while in animal form, if that animal has sufficiently developed vocal cords."
[ussura] Era says, "Realynn is a brave woman."
[ussura] Raelynn says, "You are my friend!"
Sebastien says, "if that did not occur, the other way Devoe might have heard is by whoever sent the wolves"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "i wouldn't do this with the fops or the mountain man. Charles, sure"
Alixandre says, "True."
Eats_Rabbits stops, looks at Raelynn.
Sebastien asks, "I do not suppose you have, er, any way of ..?"
Eats_Rabbits asks (of Era), "Not-rabbit come?"
[ussura] Era exclaims, "Good friend! Brave friend! I'm stuck in noun-verb mono-sylabic sentences!"
Raelynn stops nervousless
Alixandre says, "Oh? ...oh, yes."
Raelynn says, "er, ly"
[ussura] GM laughs.
[ussura] Sebastien says, "ha ha"
[ussura] Charles exclaims, "Now you know how Pyotr must feel!"
Alixandre says, "I believe Lady Era is working on that problem right now, but if she fails, I could certainly see what I might turn up."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "hee hee"
Alixandre says, "I am more inclined to try to find leads here rather than back-track."
Era asks (of Eats_Rabbits), "My pack-friend come?"
Sebastien says, "that seems like a reasonable plan"
Alixandre says, "We should find out if someone left recently, as you said."
Eats_Rabbits confers in rapid wolf-speak with the other two wolves.
Sebastien says, "well then --"
Eats_Rabbits says, "Not-rabbit small. not-rabbit pack friend you, come."
Sebastien says, "perhaps another chat with Monsieur Palech would be in order"
Era herds Raelynn into the group, and begins trotting into the woods.
Raelynn quickly scribbles note to Charles on paper, drops it on the ground, while making some tracks. "Off with Era and wolves to ... somewhere"
Raelynn keeps up with wolves
Sebastien looks around for him.
Alixandre exclaims, "An excellent idea!"
Raelynn says, "Now I know how Mowgli felt"
[ussura] Era says, "hee"
Palech is found a few minutes later, emerging from a building that holds a tall tower.
Sebastien says (to Palech), "ah, just the man we were in search of"
[ussura] Eats_Rabbits says, "(we'll put the wolves on hold a sec, here)"
[ussura] Raelynn stops mid-stride
Sebastien says (to Palech), "I regret to say there has been another wolf-related incident at this monastery"
Palech says, "Yes--word has spread that those few that entered would have numbered much greater had not you and your friends held them off."
[7thsea] * Eats_Rabbits has joined the channel.
Sebastien bows. "We are of course pleased to do what we can do as guests, though I regret my own contribution was not very large."
Alixandre says, "Oh, pish. Your petit jete on top of the wall was most effective."
Palech grins. "Nevertheless, we are in your debt. What can I do for you?"
Sebastien says, "a mere turn of the ankle, that is"
Ghogg goes home.
Sebastien says, "but the incident served to raise again the question of where Monsieur Devoe went"
Sebastien says, "if he did indeed not arrive here"
Palech says, "Indeed."
Sebastien says, "it occurred to me to wonder if -- since you had said earlier that no one had arrived in the last few weeks -- anyone who might have known Dreng had departed had left themselves in the last month or two"
Palech asks, "From what you have learned so far, would you say that this Devoe would be the sort of person to try to free Dreng?"
Alixandre says, "It is very possible, though I am merely conjecturing."
Sebastien says, "though we did not meet him personally, I regret to say the impression he left behind was one of a man with an eye for the main chance"
[ussura] Pyotr says (to seb), "nicely phrased"
Palech says, "One of the purposes of this monastery is to be a true retreat--the very fact that made here the ideal place to house an outlaw like Dreng."
Palech says, "As we are situated on top of a cliff, none but the most dedicated come here."
Palech says, "And we purposely have no climbing equipment ourselves to let us down."
Sebastien says, "it is true we found the very journey here enlightening"
Alixandre says, "Truly? That is very interesting."
Palech says, "So, we thought, should Dreng escape, he would have nowhere to go, an no means of going there."
Palech says, "When it comes time for one of us to leave, we send word, and one comes to fetch us."
Alixandre asks, "How do you send word, with no means of traversing the land?"
[ussura] Era says, "carrier-pigeon, no doubt. :-)"
[ussura] Alixandre says, "carrier-wolf, the way things are going"
[ussura] Charles says, "Carrier-sorceror, I should imagine."
[ussura] Raelynn says, "well, charles knows there were some sorcers there - like kendrick"
(From GM) A hawk cries out, as she circles the mountain, and flies away.
[ussura] Raelynn says, "so they prolly magic themselves into birds"
Palech says, "This we did in the week following the attack, to send home some of the wounded who might both benefit from more specialized care, and who might survive the trip."

Charles says, "So if we find any birds, we should search them."

Alixandre squints at Charles.

[ussura] Raelynn asks, "do the symbols say anything to me or to era?"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "they say "hi we are visiting from Jota's game""
[7thsea] Raelynn asks (of era-wolf), "i can't wait till you switch back so i can ask you what else happened back in the cave. but i guess we are heading some place, now?"
[7thsea] Raelynn says, "lead the way"
Era has disconnected.

[ussura] Era asks, "our network is pretty unstable - can you tell?"

[ussura] GM asks, "Era and Raelynn are loping across the mountains. The other group were looking at Charles' symbols on his portrait, and at one point he got out the disc, right?"

[ussura] Raelynn says, "while loping, i am wondering whether or not the symbols mean anything to me"

[ussura] GM says, "And, after a bit, you meet on a mountain top, just as the sun is setting far to the west. The sunset is particularly red this evening, and you blanch as you think of the war going on in that direction."

Pyotr says, "AH, there you are."
Pyotr says, "We were worried. For the wolves you met."
Raelynn says, "everything went quite swimmingly"
Raelynn takes bowl out of cloak.
Raelynn says, "We found this in the wolves' den"
Pyotr says, "Huh."

Alixandre says (to Raelynn), "You, er, seem to have gathered a new wolf friend."
Era dashes into the underbrush.

[ussura] GM asks (of Charles), "Should it?"
[ussura] GM says, "I wasn't in the #below group."
[ussura] Charles says, "(Since we had some limited exposure to artifacts, but I forget how much exactly.)"
Raelynn says, "um. er."
Raelynn looks at Charles for help
[ussura] GM says, "IIRC, most of that symbolism had to do with astronomy."
Alixandre says, "And now you seem to have lost it."

[ussura] GM says, "Yeah, I think so. Unless there's some other skill you're interested in using."
Alixandre exclaims, "Ah, there you are, Era!"
Alixandre says, "And you have brought us...an absolutely exquisite boquet of hares."
Era says, "Greetings. I, ah, found some dinner."
Raelynn says, "maybe pyotr can cook us something to eat. i am hungry"
[ussura] Alixandre says, "this is where diplomacy comes in handy"
[ussura] Charles says, "I could arguably try singing, but I don't think Charles has ever really looked at written music much, so no."
[ussura] Raelynn says, "only think drawing will help with is that i will be able to copy them"
Pyotr says, "Let's see what I can make a fire with."
Pyotr starts gathering deadwood.
Sebastien frowns.
Sebastien says, "it does seem likely we are in for a night outside"
Alixandre says, "Sebastien, you could lend Pytor that handkerchief."

Sebastien says, "I hope that the wolves do not return"
Era unsuccessfully tries smoothing her hair with her fingers. It stubbornly stays mussed, helped perhaps by the twigs lodged therein.
[ussura] Pyotr says, "drat"
[ussura] GM says, "Not that you can't descend."
Pyotr says, "We'll need to head back down, looks like."
Raelynn says, "yeah, let's get away from here"
Pyotr says, "At least to the trees."
Alixandre says, "This does seem exposed."
Era says, "Yes, we should go. That <points at bowl> might need to be in a shed, or something. I don't want it near me when I sleep."
Charles asks, "So did the wolves say... I mean, do you have any idea what the significance of that helmet thing is?"
[ussura] GM laughs at 'helmet'.
[ussura] GM says, "And, in fact:"
Raelynn says, "the wolves seemed a bit scared of it"
Alixandre asks, "Really?"
GM throws a drama die to Charles for that, to Era for giving the wolves some rabbits, to Sebastien and Alixandre for making Pyotr laugh.
Alixandre says, "It is perhaps declasse."

GM also throws one to Raelynn for going off with a bunch of wolves.

Sebastien looks around. "Is there some possibility of making shelter here? Or could we make it back to the monastery in the dark?"

[ussura] Pyotr says, "time to use my survival knack :)"
Charles says, "We could camp in the forest."
Raelynn asks (of Sebastien), "is there any reason for us to go back to the monastery?"
Raelynn says, "i mean, it's obvious what we seek is not within those hallowed walls"
[ussura] GM says, "You're maybe an hour or two's travel."
[ussura] GM says, "Also, it's a fair amount colder up here than it was down in the valleys where you were travelling last week."
Alixandre says, "And in fact, some of what we don't seek was able to broach said walls."

Pyotr says (to Sebastien), "We shouldn't have too much trouble."

GM says, "Apart from that, you arrive at the monastery as a half-moon rises from behind the mountains."

Charles says, "We should also keep close watch over this object," indicating the bowl, "in case this 'voice' tries to speak through it."

Raelynn says, "i am of the theory a regular person stood outside the cave and talked with it over his/her mouth to the wolves, and then tossed it in to the cave"

Charles puts it to his ear.

Raelynn says (to pyotr), "well, maybe he tossed it in only the second time"
[ussura] GM says (to Raelynn), "Wait--actually, it sounds echoey, but when you called into it, it didn't really echo much."

Era asks, "Might these holes have twine threaded through them, attaching them to someones face? Or . . .muzzle?"

Charles says, "Like the strap on a helmet."
Charles nods. "It makes sense to me."
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn now thinks of the "Duck in the Iron Mask" - the "Wolf in the Bowl"
[ussura] GM says (to Charles), "It sounds pretty much exactly like a bowl."
[Crows-Nest] Sebastien says, "it's the same telebowl"
Era asks, "What kind of head would fit this shape? Does it grant some sort of animal telepathy, or Voice of Command for animals?"
[Crows-Nest] Alixandre says (to Maxwell), "pity we don't know what it is"
[Crows-Nest] Maxwell says (to Sebastien), "Dun-dun-DUNH"
Charles tries it on his own head.
Raelynn asks, "my head is small. would it fit on me?"

Era says (to Charles), "Um, maybe tomorrow. I'm a bit tired, and it will still be here in the morning."

Pyotr asks, "If we put strings through those holes and hit them, what would it sound like?"
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "what do i keep?"
Charles nods.
[ussura] GM says, "Wits."

Charles fishes out soem fishing line and gives it to Pyotr.

[ussura] Era says, "yes, I was noticiing how we 'finished' about 20 minutes ago. :-)"
Raelynn asks, "can there be magical creatures roaming ussura?"
Raelynn asks, "like, not normal animals?"
Pyotr holds out his hand for the bowl.
[ussura] GM says, "It is about porridge-bowl sized; a bit deeper, and with aforementioned odd triangular-shape."
Era says, "Well, there are no Oliphants."
[Crows-Nest] Maxwell says, "I like how if any of the characters from #oneshot were actually here, they'd be against putting strings on it if they thought it through."
[ussura] Era says, "porridge-bowl sized for the GM is about vegatable-serving-bowl for most people - he likes a LOT of oatmeal. :-)"
[ussura] GM laughs.

Pyotr takes the bowl from Raelynn, and starts stringing the lin through the holes, except he goes zig-zag, instead of straight across.
Pyotr tightens the line a bit, and tries strumming it.
GM says (to Pyotr), "Noises emit from your strummed strings, almost as if you had tightened a fishing line and plucked it."
Pyotr sings a bawdy tune he learned in a tavern, and then hands the string back to Charles and the bowl back to Raelynn.
GM throws a drama die to Pyotr.
Raelynn pretends she didn't hear anything
[ussura] Pyotr says, "whew, I was worried earlier when everyone else got drama and I didn't"
Raelynn plucks a small tune that she learned as a courtier. "A bit out of tune, that"

Charles says, "Hmm. If you laced it back and forth like a boot, then the strings could perhaps hold something in."
Raelynn says, "i don't think this is intendended to be an instrument"
Charles says, "Something the size of a toad, or a rat maybe. Although a rat could probably bite through the string."
Era says, "Maybe a multi-wicked candle. Let's pour oil in it and light it, tomorrow."
Raelynn asks, "maybe rub it, like Aladdin's lamp?"
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn asks, "arabian nights predate middle ages, no?"

Charles says, "Or squeeze though... maybe the holes are meant to tie a cover down with."
