I wanted to use rules that wouldn't require using drama dice to activate your sorcery. Here's the (somewhat haphazard) ruleset I've come up with to change stuff. I only talk about the sorceries PCs actually took:
Porte: As it turns out, Porte already doesn't use drama dice. So, just go with the rules in the book for 'em. Duchess, this means that with your starting stats, you simply always know the direction and distance to where your knife is if it's within 100 feet of you. Using your 'Blooding' knack, you can do the same with up to 2 other objects.
Pyeryem: Half-blooded heros get a number of 'sorcery dice' equal to your lowest trait or half your highest trait (rounded up). Full-blooded heroes get a number of sorcery dice equal to their highest trait or two times their lowest trait. Sorcery dice can be spent to attempt a transformation into an animal form. Should this attempt fail, you may attempt it again without spending an extra sorcery die as long as it is your next immediate action, and you are not interrupted in the meantime (say, by being attacked). If you keep failing, you get as many free re-tries as you have Resolve.
Glamour: Glamour is somewhat annoying (or at least inconsistent) since there are no TNs to be found anywhere, just 'spend a drama die and X happens', giving no reason to increase the Rank by anything (in many cases). Ah, well. Glamour mages get the same number of 'sorcery dice' as do Pyeryem mages, above, and may use them whenever instructed to 'spend a drama die'.
The Thomas knack is the exception to the above, and needs a bit of explication and elaboration. All the book says is that you can detect if a sorceror is within 30' of you. As you will be travelling with sorcerors, this doesn't seem too helpful. So: the *strength* of the tingling of your thumb can indicate to you *how many* sorcerors there are within 30' of you. I will try to remember to tell you outright if that number increases up to your rank in this knack. Above that, you have to specifically ask. Furthermore, for every rank you have in this knack, you may choose one type of sorcery to be able to recognize (i.e. Glamour, Porte, Pyeryem, etc.) In addition to the number of sorcerors, then, you will also know whether or not they are that type of sorceror.
For example. Say you have Rank 2, and have chosen Porte and Pyeryem as your recognizable types. You are travelling with one Pyeryem sorceror, and meet a new person. I should tell you immediately if your thumb tingles more; furthermore, I will identify him or her either a Porte sorceror, Pyeryem sorceror, or an unrecognizable type of sorceror. If you are travelling with two Pyeryem sorcerors, it may occur to you to ask at some point how many sorcerors are around you, and if I say "Three pyeryem sorcerors and one unknown sorceror", you'll know to look closely at the crowd around you for the two new guys, but know that you're safe from Porte.
Also, let's say that you can choose to detect half-, twice-, or full-blooded status as a 'type' instead of choosing a particular variety. So you might know someone is half-blooded, but not know what type, or twice-blooded and one of those is Porte, or some such.
Both Glamour and Pyeryem mages may spend a drama die instead of a sorcery die if they wish. Spending a 'story die' means an automatic success of that sorcery attempt should it require a roll.
