Okay, that's 10 xp spent to raise Throw (Knife) from 1 to 2 and then again
to 3.  2 XP each to get Waylay and Lockpicking at 1.  Leaves me with 7 XP
that I'm saving.

As for what I'm looking for ... enh, anything goes.  As long as my skill set

Giancarlo's family has served the family of their Prince for longer than
anyone can recall.  They are proud of their history and their position,
proud that the Prince still requires their service in playing the Great
Game, proud of their tradition of undying loyalty.

Giancarlo was originally trained to keep watch on the Prince's guests.  He
was taught a wide variety of languages, and to lip-read.  He was also taught
to keep this to himself: as far as everyone outside the Family is concerned,
he is conversant only in Vodacce (and barely literate, at that).

When the Prince's young niece was sent to finishing school, Giancarlo was
chosen to accompany her and act as her bodyguard.  No surprise there -- who
else would the Prince ask?  The Prince's niece went to school a girl, with
Giancarlo lurking close behind, and eventually emerged a lady, still with
Giancarlo lurking close behind.  She was married off to a well-deserving
noble shortly after, and that should have been the end of the story.

Except that, unknown to the world, this was the first and only time
Giancarlo betrayed the trust of his Prince.  Over the course of his
guardianship, Giancarlo grew fond of and eventually fell in love with the
Prince's niece.  Neither of them is certain as to who seduced whom, but
seduction happened.  They both pray that no-one ever finds out.
