[interludes] Niccolo steps out of his room, closing the door behind him. Giancarlo says, "arr" [interludes] Niccolo looks up and down the hallway. [interludes] GM says, "(At what time are you doing this excursion? Also, if you are out for too long, expect to be tired by the end of the next day.)" [interludes] Niccolo says, "[After looking around my room and seeing where everything was. Basically just waiting long enough for Ridolfo to be gone and the others to be in their rooms.]" [interludes] GM nods. [interludes] GM says, "You're in luck; it's late enough that most everyone else is in bed." [interludes] Niccolo says, "[About how long is the hallway, where are we with respect to the middle/end/whatever of it, and all? (As best as I can see from here.]" [interludes] GM says, "You are near one end of the hall, and it is long enough that there are six doors on each side, presumably to more quarters." [interludes] GM says, "There are stairs down on either end." [interludes] GM says, "And don't get too involved in mapping exactly, for my sanity's sake. :)" [interludes] Niccolo strides down toward the far end of the hall, keeping his ears open for anyone coming (or anyone talking behind closed doors), and glancing to the sides to see if there are any open doors.] [interludes] Niccolo says, "[Which way did the stairs at the near end appear to go? Also, which way did we come from when we arrived?]" [interludes] GM says, "The stairs at the near end go down. Beyond that you don't know. The far stairs are how you came to the hallway." [interludes] GM says, "Another note: I won't be continuing this excursion much past 8." [interludes] Niccolo says, "[In that case, if I don't see anything in the hall in that direction, I'll come back and look down the near stairs.]" [interludes] Niccolo doesn't intend to be wandering for more than a half hour game time, an hour at most. [interludes] Niccolo says, "[Are the stairs like normal stairs, or servants' stairs?]" [interludes] GM says, "You don't see or hear anything unusual. The whole area has the air of a seldom-used part of the mansion." [interludes] GM says, "The stairs are both normal." [interludes] Niccolo takes a quick look around the bottom of the stairway, and goes back up to his room. [interludes] GM says, "The stairs open up into a wider room that looks more trafficked." [interludes] Niccolo, back in his room, takes a look around for any sneaky secret passages or anything -- never trust a noble -- before getting to bed. [interludes] GM says, "You don't find anything, but you do hear muffled sounds coming from beneath your room, very softly." [interludes] Niccolo listens. [interludes] GM says, "'mumble mumble MUMBLE mumble mumble'" [interludes] Niccolo says, "[Anything like a water glass on hand, to listen better?]" [interludes] GM says, "Nothing at hand." [interludes] Niccolo says, "[Also, would 'under this room' be in the wider room, or off the side of the wider room, or further in from there?]" [interludes] Niccolo says, "[Also, how much IC time have I taken so far?]" [interludes] GM says, "If you had to guess, it's probably a room off the wider room. It's been about ten minutes game time since we started." [interludes] Niccolo slips back out into the hall, and down the stairs -- quietly, but trying not to look like he's sneaking around spying on people. Just, y'know, talking a walk. [interludes] Niccolo tries to hear what he can hear from there. [interludes] GM says, "Off the room at the bottom of the stairs, light glows from under a door." [interludes] Niccolo says, "[Do I still hear what I heard earlier?]" [interludes] GM says, "The sound is a little clearer -- you can tell it's voices, one male, one female -- but you'd have to get closer to the slightly-ajar door to distinguish what they're saying." [interludes] GM says, "And doing so would require a stealth roll, TN 15." [interludes] Niccolo gets closer, trying to avoid being seen or heard. [7thsea] Niccolo rolls 5k4: 3 5 8 2 10+3 | 29 [interludes] Niccolo says, "[Misroll]" [interludes] Niccolo says, "[Really 25]" [interludes] Niccolo says, "[No, I mean 26. Whatever]" [interludes] GM says, "And still beating your TN easily." [interludes] GM says, "You've heard the woman before. It's Abrielle." [interludes] GM says, "She's talking in low voices to someone whose voice you don't recognize." Giancarlo asks, "?" [interludes] Niccolo . o O ( I thought she was planning to be with Ludo this evening... ) [interludes] GM says, "Abrielle: Yes, I would like more." [interludes] GM says, "Clinking sounds." [interludes] GM says, "Man: To your health." [interludes] Niccolo tries to remember the voice, in hopes that he'll recognize it if he hears it again. Wilson walks the plank to adventure. Arr! Wilson arrives, looking for booty. [interludes] Niccolo listens for a little bit more, in case they say something interesting. Wilson wave! Chiara has connected. Eolo has connected. [interludes] GM says, "(Sorry, was away)" [interludes] GM says, "Abrielle: And to yours." Amber has connected. [interludes] GM asks, "Man: While I enjoy pleasant conversation with beautiful women as much as anyone, I fear the night deepens and I grow weary. What was it you wished to discuss?" [vodacce] Wilson says (to nic), "Sorry; didn't realize he was already on." Giancarlo says, "Buon giorno" Holmes has connected. Holmes walks the plank to adventure. Arr! Holmes arrives, looking for booty. [vodacce] Doe has joined the channel. Gunther disappears into the weird glowing bit where jwalrus is, thereby causing the interpreter to crash. [vodacce] Wilson says, "Actually, feel free to take him over." Holmes says, "in fact, as this character" [vodacce] Holmes has joined the channel. [interludes] GM says, "Abrielle: What I have to say I do not wish to hear bandied about the court." [interludes] GM says, "Man: If you did not trust my discretion, you should not have approached me." InnocentBystander says, "just ignore me :)" Wilson chuckles. [interludes] GM says, "Abrielle: [pause] Very well. Someone in your position is, of course, well travelled." [interludes] GM says, "Man: You flatter." [interludes] GM asks, "Abrielle: I appraise honestly. Do you not often travel?" [interludes] GM asks, "Man: I do. What of it?" [interludes] GM says, "Abrielle: A woman in my position deals in information. Sometimes I gather it; sometimes I disperse it." Giancarlo asks (of Bystander), "You loitering here for some reason? Eh? You think maybe you get some dirt for da cops? Da boss, he don't like stoolies, capito?" [interludes] GM says, "Abrielle: I find this easier with the help of...friends." [interludes] GM says, "Soft noises." InnocentBystander says, "No, sirrah, I not be loiterin'" [interludes] GM says, "Abrielle: And I am always interested in making new friends." Giancarlo says (to Bystander), "Good. Because this cement here, she is expensive." [interludes] GM says, "Man: Of that I have no doubt. But my service is spoken for." Wilson asks, "Expensive Cement?" [interludes] GM says, "Abrielle: [quickly] I look for no pledge of fealty! What I seek would not go against your service." [interludes] GM says, "There is a lengthy pause." [interludes] GM says, "Man: This is neither the place nor the time to discuss such arrangements. We should meet elsewhere tomorrow." [interludes] GM says, "You hear the people inside shifting." InnocentBystander says, "Prithee have mercy, good sirrah - I ain't never done nothin' to nobody" [interludes] Niccolo says, "[Like moving to the door kind of shifting?]" Giancarlo has a strange dream in which he is carrying a violin case with some kind of musket inside. And for some strange reason the Prince insists on talking with his mouth full of cotton. [interludes] GM says, "[Yes." [interludes] Niccolo moves away, and slips back up the stairs. [interludes] GM says, "Abrielle: You are most generous with your time. I hope I can convince you...(fade)" INNOCENTBystander says, "(perhaps I have not made myself clear)" Giancarlo says, "hee" [interludes] GM says, "You make it back to your room without difficulty." [interludes] GM asks, "Does this conclude your walkabout?" [interludes] Niccolo sleeps. [interludes] GM says, "Time for villagers to sleep, and wolves to kill." [Crows-Nest] InnocentBystander asks, "so, who're you waiting for?" [interludes] GM has removed Niccolo from the channel. [Crows-Nest] Venzi says, "the GM"
