Blades For Blackbird

Overview

This is a play-by-wiki RPG! It'll be using a revised version of the system from Low Estate, but with a little more structured setup and premise. The setting is the swashbuckling world of Theah; turns will be twice weekly. If you're interested, write up a page with your character and link it below. Post on each turn. Roll dice when appropriate. No experience is required to join -- if you want pointers for anything, just ask. Assuming there is sufficient interest, I plan to start around 5/26.

Premise

The PCs, acting for the Invisible College, have been tasked with entering the country of Castille and making contact with Beatriz Galvan, identified in the College by the codename Blackbird. At minimum, her research must be brought to the College; Theus willing, she herself can be taken out of Castille as well, before the Inquisition brings a terminus to her work.

You made their way through Montaigne without incident, but as you attempted to sneak across the border, disaster struck: you were discovered by a wandering Montaignese army patrol, arrested, and brought to the main encampment. Within hours, the camp Porte sorcerer will be sent back to the capitol to check on your paperwork, which is of course forged — before then, you must escape! Once free, all that remains is to evade other Montaigne troops, cross the border, pass through Castille without attracting the attention of the Inquisition, rescue Beatriz and her discoveries, then make your way out of Castille and into safe territory. A simple matter for a group of heroes.

Characters

See the character creation rules for information on how to create a character, and link the created character from the cast list.

Characters for this game should fit one of five archetypes — ideally there'll be at most one in each archetype, but a certain amount of doubling up is fine. Archetypes are as follows:

  • The scientist (Montaignese archaeologist, Vodacce scholar, Avalonian inventor, etc)
  • The transportation specialist (Vodacce smuggler, Eisen former cavalry officer, Ussuran ranger, etc)
  • The diplomat (Castillian noble, Vendel merchant, Avalonian con artist, etc)
  • The scrapper (Eisen bodyguard, Montaignese duelist, Vesten pirate, etc)
  • The wild card (Montaignese cat-burglar, Ussuran shapeshifter, Castillian priest, etc)
